  1. Great episode! Though I still hate that they are setting Ragnar up with the princess, she seems so annoying.
The Stranger in Kattegat is interesting, and can´t wait to find out more about him.
I hope Lagertha stays strong. I love that about her character and would hate if she becomes another lovestory. (I don´t mind that she is with King Ecbert, something interesting could come out of that)
Sad to see Thorstein go to Valhalla, but good that he got to do it his way.

  2. Agree. This was a very solid episode.

Farewell,Thorstein!! You will be missed. A great supporting character and a good friend.

I don't think they are setting up Ragnar and Princess Kwenthrith romantically. IMO, Ragnar views her as a means to an end - farming land for his people in exchange for fighting for her. I think Ragnar feels pity for her when she told him about her history of being raped by her uncle and brother. Speaking of, why did she spare her brother? Didn't he rape her when she was little?

Stranger in Kattegat: What if he is a high profile assassin and/or a spy? Sent by Kalf (the one who has usurped Lagertha as Earl in her absence) to see if Kattegat is vulnerable or not. And in the process kill Aslaug's children? Or kill the Seer?

Man, am I the only one who hates Lagertha with Ecbert? She's so awesome that apart from Ragnar, any other man seems not worthy of her at all. Anyways, I believe Lagertha is still strong and will stay strong. If King Ecbert thinks that she is just some other woman/mistress, then he is going to learn it the hard way - case in point, the Viking ceremony where they shower the plowed fields with blood with Lagertha leading the way covered in blood. You could clearly see that Ecbert was rattled by it.

That whole sacrificial ceremony was bonkers awesome. Loved the regal way that Lagertha presided over the ritual.

The battle scene between the Mercians and Ragnar's men was another highlight of this episode. What an epic soundtrack to accompany the fighting scenes.

Worried about Porrun's fate. Will she survive? Be disfigured horribly?

    Thoughts?

  3. Fantastic episode! So much going on.

I do NOT trust this "Wanderer" Harbard. If he's not an actual god (Loki comes to mind, as he was with Thor for the events described in his tale) he could be up to other ill things. I read somewhere that we're supposed to know who killed Siggy and Earl Haraldsson's boys this season. Two boys dead then, two boys dead now? Coincidence?

Torstein went out like a true Viking Warrior, there's a seat in the Golden Hall waiting for him. Floki's words were laced with grief, but he's not wrong. There can be no coexistance and the Christ God did eventually destroy the old ways.

Thorunn (NOT Porunn. The Old norse letter Þ is not a P, it's pronounced with a "Th" sound) will most likely survive to have her baby, though she might not be as pretty anymore.

The ritual really spooked Ecbert & his Lords. That farming community is quite doomed and I have no doubt that the Seer's predicted Harvest in Blood is coming.

  4. I hope the stranger is something more of a mystery than that. I also thought that he might be send by Kalf, but I hope that it is not the case. I also wondered if he was a Seer himself and killed the Seer to take his place.

I agree about Lagertha, nobody but Ragnar is strong enough for her. I would love to see them back together, but I think it is easier to tell the story if they are apart. I like her with King Ecbert, but only if she has the upper hand. If she is made weak in any way I´ll hate it. She is the best strong female character on any show and they really have to watch what they do with her storyline.

I really hope that you are right about Ragnar and the princess. I like that he shows concern for her (and everybody else), but she seems so ....I don´t know, maybe it is the acress I have a problem with, I just don´t like her.
Yes, her brother also raped her, but was forced too, so maybe she still feels love for him.

I´m worried about Porrun too. I think she will survive, but maybe she will not be able to fight anymore and live life the way she was meant to. It will be hard for her to accept. I wonder if she really is with child.

  5. Ooh!! Just watched the latest promo for next episode.

It goes like a version of Oprah giveaway:

"You get to have sex" ; " You there! Yes, you. You too get to have sex"; And you get to have sex" ; "Everybody gets to have sex"

I always make that mistake when writing her name. Though I do pronounce it as Thorunn.

  7. Well, you're forgiven. Even the official promo people seem to use Porunn, but you can clearly hear it's Thorunn in the audio track. The name comes from combining "Thor" and "Rune"

  8. Oh yeah! Everyone is getting laid next week. We didn't see Athelstan/Judith in this promo, but other material asures me it's there.
