    I was disappointed when they recast this role and hired Michalka for the part but if this is all they're going to do with the character (I know it has only been one episode but it looks to be headed that way) I guess it didn't really matter who they cast.

    Granted. But unless she starts strutting around in her old Hellcats uniform it doesn't help enough for my liking.

    "I'd be more against her if Liv would actually explain what's going on
    instead of acting really, really weird all the time and basically
    changing who she is and everything about her, all while not letting her
    best friend and roommate in on her problems like being a zombie."

    Maybe so but the roommate part was emphasized more than the friend part was from Liv's perspective and, regardless of any hurt feelings, as long as Liv isn't doing anything wrong then she shouldn't be getting up in Liv's face as much as she is.

    I get your argument but I think there's also the argument that we don't really know how she handled things in the 6 months after the "attack".

    And especially since Liv's lifestyle took a complete 180 turn I can get her possibly having reached her breaking point in the "giving space" and "understanding" department.

    Well that's kind of the point, isn't it? iZombie hasn't given the audience the proper background context to support Liv's roommate laying into her like this without it coming off as excessive and shrill.

    As I said that's definitely fair approach, and I'm not particularly enamored with her attitude either. But I think there were a couple of throwaway lines in the pilot that make me think the intention to insinuate to some backstory was there.
    It hasn't been portrayed well, I'll give you that, but we're barely 2 episodes in. I'm willing to sit this out a couple more episodes before I hold her accountable for being snippy all the time..

    I'm with you. As I originally mentioned, it has only been one episode and the character will only start to get on my nerves if they keep this up without adding any context. I mean, the girl referred to Liv as "her heart" last week. Obviously there's more to their relationship than has been presented thus far.

    I just think it was a bad writing decision for the roommate to take this kind of relentlessly brittle attitude with Liv without getting to know her a little first. That sort of thing usually doesn't sit well with an audience.

    Well I know in real life girl friendships, when the going gets tough and we're just at the point when we've exhausted all the subtle tactics, we don't mind laying it on quite thick.



    But I'll concede that in a TV narrative, where we don't really know these characters yet, it's not the best storytelling approach to open with.

    Especially on The CW where viewers will turn on characters at the drop of a hat. When you get off on the wrong foot it can be hard to come back from that.
