Empire - Sins of the Father - Review: Gun problem

Sins of the Father was the frenetic last episode of Empire. Just before the two-hours’ season finale, the writers let us discover some of the secrets of the last few episodes.

Lola-gate. Who was sure about Lola’s paternity? I wasn’t! In fact this week’s episode uncovers the dirt which has been hidden for years. After Lola’s mother is abducted by his former fiancĂ©, they go to Lyon’s residence and threaten the entire family. Cookie is in a life-and-death situation and Jamal tries to help her, calling out the crazy Olivia’s ex bf Reg. Lucious is obliged to tell the truth in order to save his family: he slept with Olivia and so Lola is likely his daughter. The family is disgusted by this. I loved how they are portraying the downfall of the patriarch. Lucious is a sinner, and he made a lot of mistakes in his life. He is certainly ill, but he can’t be forgiven because of it and he is not looking for redemption.

Lucious creates problems also for Hakeem. When he finds out about Camilla, he threatens her and obliges her to take money and leave the country. Apparently her feelings are real: she wants Lucious to go to Hell, and she promises she will be back, when he dies. I like this outcome and I think we need to get rid of Camille. Hakeem hates his father for this. I am still in love with the brotherly love of Hakeem and Jamal, their lullaby for Lola was so cute.

Lucious has also lost all the affection of Andre. He is disgusted by his father lack of trust, and he is helped by the Music Therapy of Jennifer Hudson’s character. I liked their moment together, but I love Andre with Rhonda. So don’t mess with them writers!

Cookie finally decided to start an affair with Malcolm Her seduction moves were hilarious, like the camera and dining table thing. I laughed out loud.
This was a transition's episode for Empire, but as always it is never boring. There are plenty of plot twists, the rhythm is high and at the end of the day, nothing is like it used to be. I can’t wait to watch the season finale!

And you? What do you think of this episode?

  1. So excited for the finale! (TWO EPISODES). I just loved this last episode so much, Lola was the sweetest and Rhonda standing up to Lucious. I just find all the characters so interesting. :)

  5. Yeah! I forgot to mention how much I loved Rhonda. I loved how she faced up Lucious. I am liking her character a lot right now. At the beginning she was just a bit boring

  6. I loved when Hakeem was posing in the clothes Camilla designed how at first he thought they were too crazy and avant-garde for him, but then later she's able to convince him that it's a good look. Such great banter between the two there, also comparing themselves to Anthony and Cleopatra. Also thought it was cool that they used Kid Ink's "Main Chick" during that scene too, even though I hate Chris Brown that song is great.
