Okay Marc I gotta know. Is the title for episode 3x21 Al Saheem?...

71 comments:

  1. It means the Arrow.

  2. It means the Arrow. That's not how you write it but close enough. At least it's not as bad as Raysh.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Prediction: Ra's is probably going to kill Felicity and tell Oliver that there is a way to bring her back but Oliver has to accept his offer. He'll become to new Ra's in this episode.

  4. Sahim means partner in Arabic, so that means The Partner?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Sahim means arrow. Partner means shareek.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Ajajajajjajajjajaja.
Bring it on guys! Bring it on!!!

    ReplyDelete
  7. How should it be written ?

    ReplyDelete
  8. So I looked it up, and Sahm means Arrow, not Saheem (Sahim)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Al-Sahm. Also Al-Sahim is acceptable.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Terrible by the writers to make such a mistake. *shaking head*

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yeah it's Sahm. Sahim is not correct but it could work. But it's most definitely not Saheem.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Even google translate could tell you that much.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Still not as bad as Raysh and Ta-er Al Sah-fer. I have no idea where the "h" came from. And the most annoying part it that doesn't even mean canary. It means yellow bird! Canary literally means canary.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I went and looked it up right away. And was thrown of when Koky indicated the mistake.
But the fan wrote it maybe Marc just didn't want to correct him.

    ReplyDelete
  15. But Canary wouldn't sound that impressive, lol

    ReplyDelete
  16. True lol then at least use the right words for yellow bird which are Al-Ta'er Al-Asfar not Ta-er Al Sah-fer. Do they even ask someone who speaks Arabic? Like you said even Google translate wouldn't make that mistake.

    ReplyDelete
  17. If there is a 'typo' Shaheen (Al Saheem ) is the Arabic name for a female Peregrine Falcon and the name epitomises powerful, silent, speed in flight. Al means The

    ReplyDelete
  18. I wonder if Al Saheem has something to do with 'Damien' Dark or whatever the he'll they are calling the new season four villain.

    ReplyDelete
  19. you're right Al means the and Al-Shaheen is a falcon (not necessarily a female) but I don't think that's the case here. I wish it was a typo.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It could be Sara's new name once resurrected !!
If only it meant Phoenix ( Rises from the Ashes ) instead of Arrow ... or Falcon.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Shaheen and Sahim are not even close. I don't think the writers could be that stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Any chance it's Damian (Wayne) Al Ghul's League name ?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think Oliver will join the league and that will be his name. It would be interesting to see them attempt to say or write phoenix. It's a very difficult word to pronounce.

    ReplyDelete
  24. You're right. pronunciation of Raysh bothers me too. i'm Persian, but i can understand Arabic.

    ReplyDelete
  25. It's been bothering me since Nyssa said it for the first time in 2x13.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Its not Damian (Wayne) it is more likely Damien (Darhk) since they already brought up H.I.V.E -

    http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Damien_Darhk_%28New_Earth%29

    ReplyDelete
  27. I would guess that Raysh was spelled that way in the scripts to ensure actors pronounced it the way they wanted it pronounced. (or the writer just misspelled it. lol

    ReplyDelete
  28. No apparently that's the spelling used in the comics as the "true pronunciation".

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks for the information. You know who can commiserate? German speakers who are fans of Grimm. There was such an improvement after season one that some assumed they'd finally hired a German speaker. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  30. The problem is that there are still those in Hollywood (still even in this day of social media) that are convinced the fans won't notice! I've been in talks and classes where executives said this. So, when they go to the network and ask for the money to pay someone who is knowledgable the answer is 'get an intern to use Google translate' cause 'no one is going to notice.'

    ReplyDelete
  31. I have to confess to not reading those books in years. I remember the character from the Batman books Ra's....that's what the closed captioning had been using so I assumed Raysh was a change in recent scripts.

I believe Ra's Al Ghul referred to Oliver Queen as Al Sahm during the conversation they had in 3x16 when they sat down to eat. Listen carefully when he is telling him that he knows the arrow, he says 'Al Sahm will never be anything more than a vigilante for those ......'

    ReplyDelete
  33. Arrow could use some advice from Grimm writers lol I've seen people complaining about their Russian and Chinese as well.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't read comics at all but the wonderful comic books readers here told me.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Ra's called Oliver that this last episode.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I was surprised at how well Grimm does with German.
In one of the panel vids Stephen said that they just get taught how to pronounce smth in Russian or Chinese and he has expressed the wish to have proper language training. I imagen this is not in the budget....?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I don't watch Grimm so I'll take your word for it :D
Yeah budget, time, the showrunners don't care enough, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  38. and italian too since i am and Helena's italian sucked xD

    ReplyDelete
  39. Al-Sahim - The Arrow. So looks like Oliver joins LoA this episode.

Guys did you see the photo stephen posted on FB with Matt Nable?

He cut his hair! That beautiful head... I am pissed at Ra's now!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. It's probably just for what sounds better or what looks better on paper, like "Ra's al Ghul".

    ReplyDelete
  41. The difference is that Ra's Al Ghul is actually right.

    ReplyDelete
  42. They pretty much butchered every language they used.

    ReplyDelete
  43. My theory is Felicity dies in whichever episode all the actors were tweeting about that then Oliver is forced to become Ra's in order to use the Lazarus Pit to bring her back and that is the confrontation that supposedly "changes his relationship with Diggle forever" because Diggle disagrees with his choice

    ReplyDelete
  44. But I hope that's not the case :(

    ReplyDelete
  45. I know the writers said that things get worse before they get better but... if Oliver's name gets dragged through the mud, Lance gets kidnapped, Ray is injured, Oliver gets arrested, Felicity dies and then in the finale Oliver becomes Ra's... when does it actually get better? Season 4??? :(

    ReplyDelete
  46. Shit! Noooooo!!! This is not good. I don't like this.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ra's al Ghul, isn't misspelled, that's how you spell it. = /

    ReplyDelete
  48. Grimm need some improvement in french, the syntax is weird (except the french guy from the royal family).

    ReplyDelete
  49. A lot of the fans think so too. There must be a reason why Ra's mentioned Felicity specifically.

    ReplyDelete
  50. The Arabic has been totally butchered on the show, it's even hard for me to get what they're saying so I just read the English subtitles!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oliver joining the LoA? Cool

    ReplyDelete
  52. I do the same. I have to read the English subtitle to understand what they're saying and even when I do I still don't understand them. I love your name by the way :D

    ReplyDelete
  53. I don't get why people are making a big deal about this. His hair was this short in the premiere.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hey if it's how Ra's says it I'm going with it (wow that is such a white guy thing to say).

    ReplyDelete
  55. The French is quite good apparently. Well at least with Renard since Roiz speaks French. So is the Spainish (unlike the Flash's) since Tulloch is fluent.

    ReplyDelete
  56. my best friend, who is German, says that one of the guys who played a resistance fighter sounded like a native German speaker.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Why does it look like Ray Palmer is officiating Diggle and Lyle’s wedding on Arrow? — Brett

That’s because he is. “Rick Flag can’t make our wedding. He was going to be officiating, so we’re going to have somebody else doing it,” David Ramsey fields. Since that was a little too easy to answer, I’ll let executive producer Marc Guggenheim tease the game-changing season-ender: “These last episodes, we literally blow the show up,” he says. “By the end of the year, people are going to go, ‘How can the show go back to being what it was?’ The truth of the matter is that it may not..”

    ReplyDelete
  58. So in episode 3x20(The Fallen), Oliver, Digg, Felicity, Thea and Malcolm go on a mission to Nanda Parbat on a jet that will ultimately end with Oliver joining the LoA? Why do i think there's a ruse here somewhere? Why are Digg and company with him if he was gonna accept the offer?

The season is turning very interesting wuth this offer and the Laurel/Nyssa partnership. Now, if they could do something with Palmer that doesn't involve being a reaction to the Oliver/Felicity/Arrow love triangle. That would make the world to me. That's the only thing that i don't like...

I'm not talking about Malcolm again. I'm just gonna ignore him. I still don't get what is the purpose of him being alive.

    ReplyDelete
  59. What are the titles for 19&20 again?...

    ReplyDelete
  60. But it's the way it's spelled to how it's meant to be said. That's what I'm referring to.

    ReplyDelete
  61. As I mentioned to Shannon, I've heard that that's now the correct name for "Demon's Head".

    ReplyDelete
  62. True Demon doesn't mean Ghul but the writing of "Ra's Al Ghul" is correct.

    ReplyDelete
  63. It's not. But the word is spelled correctly.

    ReplyDelete
  64. So it has something to do with what sounds better, which I mentioned, lol.

And then you add in the whole is it Hebrew or is it Arabic when it comes to the way you pronounce "Ra's". I've heard a lot of people say O'Neil chose the Hebrew pronunciation and not Arabic.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I said they either chose what looks better on paper or what sounds better; clearly for Ra's it's the latter.

    ReplyDelete
  66. its cause of her hair they call it yellow canary they say it in smallvile to

    ReplyDelete
  67. It means partner
