  4. I still can't get how can this guys be saying that they are the real SHIELD, when all they do is going around in a ship while Coulson and the team do all the work!!!!!! THEY ARE NOT SHIELD PERIOD!

I know that this "Real SHIELD" thing is annoying a lot of people but I for one and am enjoying the story. It adds a certain level of realism.

At the end of the day they are all on the same side. They are all current and former SHIELD professionals. They all want the same thing and are in their own way working for the re establishment of SHIELD as the organization that it needs to be. I think we can and should all agree that THAT is what the ultimate goal is.

I also want to point out that SHIELD is a government establishment, funded by taxpayers with civilian oversight. It is not a private organization that can be inherited like property when someone dies.

Now I personally don't have a problem with how Coulson has been running things and of course he has Fury's endorsement. This is all good.

But I also fully understand how those calling themselves the "Real SHIELD" would feel they have complete legitimacy as well. For one, they don't know that Fury is alive and handed the reigns over to Coulson. And further to this; it's really not up to Fury to make that decision anyway. He can recommend but ultimately SHIELD isn't his to give away.

Ultimately what this really boils down to is that this is big case of bad communication. They're all on the same side and they will need to come together to build SHIELD up the way it needs to. That might mean accepting that Coulson may not be Director anymore or it might take Nick Fury coming out of hiding to clear the air.

Its all good and the story is coming along just fine by me.

  12. I'm always looking forward to a new episode of AOS but now a lot of angst is mixed with the excitment.

UGH! I really hope they finally give us a reason why Bobby joined "real" SHIELD, so far I can't see what the big deal with them is.

  14. i enjoy the real SHIELD storyline very much, and totally agree with the realistic part... it would be totally strange if in a big organisation like SHIELD weren't any other fractions with other agendas...
...and i guess if the show would have followed the real SHIELD fraction instead of Coulsons, we all would root for them :P

  15. Im not a big fan of """"""REAL"""""" SHIELD but we just dont know what they've been doing, our shield has been focused on the whole alien writing and alien town and hydra, maybe that other shield has been dealing with other threats.
My real issue with them is that I dont get why they are against Coulson they could have contacted him much earlier when he was looking for more agents to join him and yet they decided to hide.

  16. As I said in another post, they've been acting very miffy, but I am curious to see their POV.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Coulson's SHIELD isn't the enemy but they are acting like it is and basically starting a war when i'm sure they are plenty of others threats to deal with. Their aproach is all wrong. There are still a lot of episodes left so hopefully they will explain the whole thing because so far makes no sense.

  18. We don't know that ALL they've been doing is hanging out on that ship. They could have been doing other stuff this whole time.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I agree. At the very least "Real" SHIELD is less annoying than those New Alexandria idiots who refuse to listen to Rick. lol

  20. I think if it can be established that they are in fact on the same side with zero Hydra contaminants, I can't see why they can't join forces and become the SHIELD it should have been had Zola not been ushered in through the front door.

I love Coulson and it would be great to see him without the weight of saving the world on his shoulders. As sad as the idea of taking the directorship away from him is, it's an arrow through the heart really, I do miss so much that easy going agent. He's still fun but he's also too serious.

Now if OlmostSHIELD is as shady as they come then I hope Coulson's SHIELD wipes the floor with the whole lot.

  21. After seeing that, I kinda want to send Hydra a fruit basket.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Can Fitz activate the lock down in time, before Bob flees the coop, taking the toolbox with her?

  23. 'Real' SHIELD seems to be conveniently able to forget the facts where it suits them.

Rewatch the beginning of the season. The reason Hartley was killed was that her team disobeyed instructions to abandon the 084 (Whose origins were not yet known NOR was the connection to the alien writing which Coulson had been working hard to KEEP that from influencing him.) The mission objective was to secure ONE friggin Quinjet and its cloak. Engaging in high risk missions to secure just a small fraction of the resources these people have. How many of Coulson's people have been killed because this 'Real' SHIELD has been hiding and holding its assets? While we don't know what they MIGHT be doing to safeguard the world, it is odd that Hydra SEEMS unaware of them and certainly the US Air Force is unaware of their existence. (So much for transparency)

And they conveniently forget that Arnim Zola, Hydra, and Alexander Pierce were all well in place before Fury became director of SHIELD. Their attitude smacks of the old council that demanded obedience to its wishes, feared the Avengers, wanted the ABOMINATION for the Avengers Initiative and wanted to nuke Manhattan. The council that was so quick to believe Fury was a traitor with Pierce literally right in front of them.

Would not surprise me if Hydra has already infiltrated this bunch and would LOVE for them to solve the 'Coulson Problem' Odd that the final decision to remove Coulson from the board comes just after Coulson took out Whitehall and arranged for several Hydra cell leaders to be permanently retired.

  24. Poor Fitz. I love Coulson's reaction to "Real" SHIELD. I'm not sure it's going to matter much to me what their backstory/reasons are. Too little, too late. While they may not be Hydra, they have behaved like them. Also, I really wanted to see May kick Bobbi's ass. LOL.

  25. Will they even have any safe house left? Now that the Real SHIELD have Fury's tool box they probably have the adresss of every facility SHIELD have. This is how they will track Skye down so i'm guessing no safe place left for them to run to. They will have to sit down and talk about this mess since apparently nobody is a bad guy.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Looks like Hunter doesn't get that in time to warn them.

    ReplyDelete
  27. True, but we also have to remember that Fitz is in action mode right now - no time to sit and wallow in his pain. Once the dust settles one way or another, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Mack's betrayal hit him quite hard.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I get why they think Coulson is unfit to be the leader. They don't know Fury appointed him, as you said, nor did Fury have the authority to appoint his successor in the first place (I'm pretty sure that one lies with the World Security Council or whatever's left of it, considering that Fury answered to them). And yes, from the outside Coulson looks potentially crazy/unstable.

HOWEVER, their method of dealing with these concerns is all wrong. An organization that truly believed in transparency would've approached Coulson openly and taken up their issues with him. If Coulson firmly refused to even consider their viewpoints considering his authority and his decision-making, then maybe it would've been understandable for them to attempt to forcibly remove him. But they didn't even try to do that! Instead, they sent two spies into his team to pass along information on what he's doing, and are now launching a full-on attack on his people. How does that make sense?

I would've been able to understand Olmost SHIELD's actions more if they were acting on lingering suspicions that Coulson or at least some of his people are Hydra. After all, that mistrust goes deep. But judging by the conversation between Hunter and the heads of the organization, it seems like they know Coulson is a good guy - they just believe he's acting without authority and making bad decisions. How is that a good enough reason to attack someone on the same side as you, all while there are plenty of actual threats out there? Unless tomorrow's episode really fleshes out their motivations, they're pretty much full of shit.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I don't think Hydra has anything to do with Olmost SHIELD, as Jeff Bell said that "we're entering a Hydra-light part of the season". In this case, it seems like we're just dealing with typical goverment bureaucrats who are technically on the good side, yet full of shit.

  30. Isn't Mack just a mechanic?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well from what i remember he can do a lot more than just fix stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  32. So true re Fitz! Hoping we get more screen time for him here, though I doubt that will happen.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm pretty sure he's not a field agent, since Coulson only suggested using him in that capacity for the first time a couple of episodes ago. So I can understand why Olmost SHIELD wouldn't have been sending Mack on dangerous missions.

  34. vibranium?! whoa and wow i forgot how chaotic the Fall was

  35. Fitz rebound with Fitz? you mean Jemma right?

    ReplyDelete
  36. ooh very nice comparing the cabal to HYDRA

    ReplyDelete
  37. damn it!!!! so are they even safe anymore?

    ReplyDelete
  38. at least it's not like on Arrow where EVERY Big Bad in every season know the heroes base

    ReplyDelete
  39. A month ago, definitely would have meant Jemma. Now, I mean Hunter! Still not ready for Fitz and Simmons to be friends again.

    ReplyDelete
  40. It's from The Walking Dead.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The thing is, I expect the poor guy to have some serious trust issues now. First Ward, then Simmons (granted - she wasn't a mole in SHIELD, but from Fitz's perspective, she left him when he needed her the most), now Mack. It's gonna be hard for him to be friends with anyone again. Ugh! So much pain on this show!

    ReplyDelete
  42. SO true. Damn hadn't thought about it like that. He's really had bad luck picking friends, and that's got to catch up with him at some point. Poor guy!
