  1. Love that they went there with Rochefort's eye patch, lol :)

  2. Omg! Constance locked up!!! My heart is bursting!!!! Such a tease!!! :) I want more!

    ReplyDelete
  3. I think some of us may have an idea about how Rochefort gets that eye patch based on a spoiler that came out a month or two ago..

    ReplyDelete
  4. It's so 'arch villain', isn't it! I love it! :D

    ReplyDelete
  5. Oooooh!! Great piccies can't wait to hear people's thoughts on them!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I might just be screaming at the TV with those pics of Constance in jail and D'Artagnan knocked out. What is happening. That's it no more concentrating for me today.!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Red Guards dragging my boy away? Grrrrr.....Maybe they caught him talking to Constance?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Oh no, Constance in jail - how are they going to get out of this one? I wonder if our speculation that she may be framed for Bonacieux's death may be correct?

    ReplyDelete
  9. I know exactly what you're talking about and I believe that it's going to happen in the eighth episode judging from Rocheforts eye patch. Im so looking forward to it...

    ReplyDelete
  10. I can tell that the rest of the season will be awesome!! I am so excited

    ReplyDelete
  11. Now i want to know how it happens! Episode eight, i want you.
But now i'm overexited!! Too soon for release this pic! Bbc want us dead.
And Anne and Aramis don't seem to be at palace, she even have her hair down...
    I'm already fangirling.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I am much too addicted to this site!! This morning I was telling myself "I will stay away from spoilers and pics of the last two episodes" ... Few hours late "PICTURES! Need to see them all!! "

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh am so excited D'artangnan what happens to rochefort Anne and aramis

    ReplyDelete
  14. Could be Rochefort related. They are surrounded by the Red Guards after all...

    ReplyDelete
  15. That's true - my paranoia is back again over Constance.

    ReplyDelete
  16. See, this is where a PM feature on Disqus would be really helpful! I've not heard that spoiler.....

    ReplyDelete
  17. OMG You are killing me... Would it be that Anne and Aramis have arranged a place to meet in secret. And Also, what happened to Rochefort´s eye? and his always neat hair?? OMG, can´t wait.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm actually feeling a teeny teeny TEENY bit of hope. Then again it could be gas. :(

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh good - that's reassured me! Surely, they're probably showing us these to get us panicking like this. The Musketeers have to be the heroes at the end of the episode, as Sandi said earlier, if they killed Constance off in the final episode it wouldn't end with them being heroes and winning the day!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Ditto!!
Me neither. Or maybe i heard it but now i'm too much in crazy mode for connect things!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh don't put your faith in me! I could be so spectacularly wrong you'll come after me with knives when ep 10 is over and she's been offed! lol

    ReplyDelete
  22. If it's a big spoiler then as long as you give a warning that you are about to say it, so others are aware, then there's no problem in saying it here :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. You're welcome :) What I tend to do is this.

  24. Ah yes the infamous eye patch. I wondered when that might make an appearance and who put his eye out?! Form an orderly queue. :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. No, I'd probably just faint in total shock and disbelief!!!! You're be safe - lol :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. It either anne or Constance Will give him the eye injury I think so

    ReplyDelete
  27. It does look like she's either in the clink or being hidden. Clearly the Red Guards are after her, which makes me think it's got something to do with that bloody draper who'll probably be as much of a menace if he's dead as he was alive.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Here is the link to the interview with Marc Warren, I believe this happens in episode eight. This is a MAJOR SPOILER so if you don't wanna know don't open it.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2880810/Meet-musketeer-s-new-nemesis-s-scared-horse-heroes-Marc-Warren-says-ll-meet-match-evil-villain.html

    ReplyDelete
  29. Frankly, I'll be too busy at that point getting an eye patch, developing a sinister voice and heading for a certain Mr Hodges....Lol

    ReplyDelete
  30. The crucifix is missing from that aramis still. Maybe rochefort will get it after all.

    ReplyDelete
  31. May join you there - lol :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Of course. Every arch villain needs a side-kick. Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Need someone to carry your bags? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Me, you, Helen...the Three Musketettes

    ReplyDelete
  35. Poor Adrian. He really has no clue what might be coming after him....;)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thank you very much!
I hadn't read it but now i remember that some of us speculated about something like that, in other comments, some time ago.

I'm obviously playing the part of the calm girl.

    ReplyDelete
  37. That's the plan (sinister Rochefort voice) He will underestimate his enemy....;)

    ReplyDelete
  38. It is so weird how every time Anne and Aramis meet, Anne has her hair down! Except for last weeks episode. :P

    ReplyDelete
  39. Speaking of Rochefort, there's someone he reminds me of with the eyepatch and the black clothes, but I can't put my finger on it. Who is it?! It's driving me mad!

    ReplyDelete
  40. When I read it for the first time I got really excited as well! I can't wait to see how it all plays out and judging by the latest pics from episode 9 and 10, its going to be crazy good !

    ReplyDelete
  41. I hope the queen did the stabbing that led to the eyepatch.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I want to see the reaction of a certain person to that!! I hope they show it and not make it happen off screen!

    ReplyDelete
  43. "It is so weird how every time Anne and Aramis meet"
Is impossible for them to get bored! lol

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'd have to say Anne does look much better with her hair down though so maybe its a way for her to seduce Aramis every time they see each other.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ditto! Im sure they will show it and some of the hints Sandi has been giving us in the reviews and previews for the episodes I'm most definitely sure we will see some sort of a reaction.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think I just showed my age. I've remember who it is - there was a guy with an eyepatch in Airwolf!

    ReplyDelete
  47. True, in plainclothes she's more delicate and stunning that in royal dress. I always love when we have this little moments of freedom for her hair!

    ReplyDelete
  48. And i will be here, on my chair, hyperventilating and grinning at the same time. Like a fool.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Oh yes.....you are right. I wonder how he gets it. I don't know why but I want Aramis to keep the crucifix.

    ReplyDelete
  50. LOL....I'm addicted too!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Where are they I wonder? I hope this is our Annamis love scene. They always kiss when her hair is down it seems LOL

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yes, I remember! See, showing my age too!

    ReplyDelete
  53. So the three couples have their own moment again, really great.
But what happen to Constance, if it's her husband's fault -please, let Bonacieux die-.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Really great, it seems that they follow the description in Dumas' book about Rocheford. But waiting to know why now and not before (yeh!). But let's not rush everything ^^.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Maybe he is indeed dead and Constance is a suspect!!!! That´s why she is in Jail, !!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Thanks !
That an spoiler -I couldn't wait-, I've read about this scene in some other interview of Marc warren but not completely. I didn't think it will go that far but this episode seems really good .

    ReplyDelete
  57. You could be right, if he's dead it's okay with me ^^, but please not Constance as a suspect, it's not fit to her to be in jail, let's hope D'Artagnan will save her - and that for sure he will- .

    ReplyDelete
  58. I could definitely see Rochefort murdering Bonacieux and framing Constance. She is imprisoned in the novel, so they could play with this concept. It's also advantageous for him as it keeps Constance away from Anne whom he's systematically isolating. It would also distract D'Artagnan at least and while the Musketeers are looking the wrong way, he can strike. The storyline would also have the added advantage of finally removing Bonacieux and allowing that aspect of the story to move on, one way or another.

    ReplyDelete
  59. There is a secondary fairly big spoiler in this article too. I'm surprised that he was allowed to release this information last December.

    ReplyDelete
  60. why why did you point out that i m sad now very sad :( !!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Is the actor who Portrays Bonnacieux listed in Ep. 10? Or 9. That could give us a clue?

    ReplyDelete
  62. it's like the writers way of saying with him she's simply Anne without all the Queen havey burden she just a woman with the man she loves , i see it that way :) i love them so much this ship EPIC

    ReplyDelete
  63. OMG.... That is Huge!!!! I can´t wait, and at the same time so sad for the series 2 being almost over =( .
I knew about spoiler number 2. I just knew it!!!! So my theory is on about her destiny.
    Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  64. What spoiler 2 about

    ReplyDelete
  65. Omg that is just the perfect way to put it!! I didn't really think of it like that...but honestly this ship is EPIC in so many ways!! I just hope it ends well for both of them but at this point you don't really know what to expect.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Which one are u referring to ? Is it the one about Marguerite?

    ReplyDelete
  67. I was referring to the one about why he required such intensive sword fighting training.

    ReplyDelete
  68. he will kill her!!!! She has become a dispossable nuissance from my pov. For everybody!!! Me being the most loyal Annanis shipper

    ReplyDelete
  69. Well thats what I fear as well and I don't want to disagree with u because it could happen but I would hate it if she dies. However, if u do look at one of the pictures for episode 10 we do see Aramis, from what it looks like, about to save Anne from Rochefort and whatever he plans on doing. Im going to hope she lives but I am expecting the worst. Also, is it just a guess or do u know something much more?

    ReplyDelete
  70. No not at all, I was talking about the Comte killing the nanny... I´m sorry if I misled you. I was sure he would abuse her or something. But Idk... maybe I am over-excited at the new pic release

    ReplyDelete
  71. interesting why anne is not in the palace.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Oh lol my bad I thought u were talking about the Queen. Had me worried there. But yes I do agree with u about the nanny.

    ReplyDelete
  73. i hope so too , i don't really want much i just want them to be safe from creepy Rochefort !!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Analizing the first Picture the one of Aramis & Anne, it looks that they are not in the Palace, so, my feverish imagination at its highest have made the following conclusions: They are in the country, maybe the Queen has prepared a Trip to one of their many properties outside the court (maybe to take a break after a disgusting episode with a pervert admirer of hers), Aramis is in his travelling cloack and Anne is wearing what it seems a more relaxed dress and with her hair down. And they are discussing something not so pleasant. So if my intuition is right, we Annamis shippers are going to be very happy in this Episode

    ReplyDelete
  75. Agree, especially if Rocheford wants to get rid of Constance to approach his goal.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Haha, you're right!
I wonder the same thing, where the hell are they? I'd like to see Aramis taking her away from the palace because is become too dangerous for her, since he can't be with her 24h on 24h and Constance is away in some jail trouble.
Then, in episode 10 they can bring the Queen back and let believe Rochefort that she's alone. A perfect trap.
Time for the rest of the gang to know the Annamis truth.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Not sure if this has already been brought up elsewhere yet but I read on tumblr that there is a break between 2x08 and 2x09. The person said their source was IMDB so I looked at it myself and they have 2x08 listed at March/6th and 2x09 is March/20th.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Yes, because we've got Red Nose Day on the 13th, so there'll be nothing on the BBC that night but charity stuff. Better a break there than between eps 9 and 10 though.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Ahh okay. I wasn't aware of that. Agreed on a break happening then as opposed to 9 and 10.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Three postponements in a ten episode series is beyond stupid, and unfair. I hope the BBC sort it out next year and realise what a monumentally STUPID decision it was to put the show on Friday nights.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Oh yes, I completely agree!

    ReplyDelete
  82. They are destroying the series with these breaks. Regular viewers have no clue when it airs. It is supposed to air every week. Those breaks are indeed monumentally stupid.
I am glad that they got a third season despite this idiocy. I would have been furious if they got cancelled because of the timeslot. UGH

    ReplyDelete
  83. The breaks wouldn't be as bad if they'd at least ADVERTISE it, so people know when it's on and when it's off. Only the die-hard fans know it's being taken off when the rest of the viewing public don't even know it's ON. Frankly I am fed up to the back teeth of having Eastenders rammed down our necks at every possible second as if the licence fee was invented just for that steaming pile of manure, when so many good shows, Musketeers at the top of the list of course, get shafted by the very people who commission and produce them.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I know! I am so angry at the. Because they really have a quality show there, and they just shit on it, like it's a thing they don't like but have to show anyway.

The better the episodes get, the angrier I get at the bbc.

    ReplyDelete
  85. That dress Constance is wearing in what looks like a prison cell, looks like the same one that she is wearing in that picture of her on horseback with d'Artagnan.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I'd noticed that too. Do we know when the horseback pic is from?

    ReplyDelete
  87. There's no production date on the photograph, so not sure, but it's also the same dress from the image in episode 8 as well of them kissing. Also, wondering where those pictures of Constance running to the Garrison that Jess posted are from - maybe those are from episode 7?

    ReplyDelete
  88. One of the two she posted tonight had the hashtag #runconstance, although I'm not sure if that's intended to have any relation to the running pic.

    ReplyDelete
  89. It is hard to tell where the running pics are from but her hair is down and looks quite crimped in both the image of her kissing D'Artagnan from episode eight and the running sequence, so possibly they're both from episode eight. It'll be interesting to see whether Constance makes the decision to stay at the Garrison after she assists Lemay in saving Treville, or whether there is some kind of showdown at chez Bonacieux with D'Artagnan.

    ReplyDelete
  90. probably something bad happens in the palace,

    ReplyDelete
  91. Assuming d'Artagnan's been knocked out in that pic where he's being dragged - how many head injuries has he had over the full run of the series now? In my memory it feels like a lot. Poor d'Artagnan.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I love that Rochefort having an eye-patch has become it's own sort of mythology, or fanon, since he doesn't have one in the book, but everyone sees the character that way anyway. Mythology evolves to include cool things.

    ReplyDelete
  93. again in this episode we get three couples Athos and Milady ,Aramis and Anne, Constance and D'Artagnan and Rochefort who don't look happy.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I hate them so much (Bbc peeps). I absolutely agree that the break is better between ep 8 and 9 than 9 and 10... but they shouldn't have released the pictures that soon!!
How we are supposed to wait until march 20th!?
This year they really did a mess.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I was wondering whether she goes back home with Bonacieux as he makes some threat and then perhaps he hits her again and she perhaps hurts him in self-defence. Perhaps, she is then running to the garrison to find d'Artagnan. However, I reckon this may happen in episode 7 or 8.

    ReplyDelete
  96. He sure is a candidate for Dr Lemay's next Concussion Clinic....:(

    ReplyDelete
  97. Just read it am speechless! While I don't want the series to be over I can't wait to see this episodes!! Thanks for posting the link.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Reading the press release has gotten me really excited about this one (and it's finally put the pictures into a better context). :) So much Annamis potential (and by potential I mean potential interaction) there. And we all know what happened the last three times these two were away from the palace... :)

    ReplyDelete
  99. Hi kynikey. Where's the press release. Can you share?

    ReplyDelete
  100. bbc america released name of episode and short summary

    ReplyDelete
  101. She is accused of treason so I wonder what this treason is ?? Could it be because of Rochefort's eye or the affair ??? And judging from the press release, I think the big death could be king ...

    ReplyDelete
  102. Oh, sorry, BBCA posted it on the press site:

The Musketeers must put their lives on the line when the Queen is accused of treason.
They have no choice but to steal her away from the Palace to safety, while they search for evidence to prove that Rochefort is a Spanish spy. However it soon transpires that nobody is safe from Rochefort’s grasp, not even the King, with devastating consequences.

    ReplyDelete
  103. letters to spanish king. will king die

    ReplyDelete
  104. I'd say either the affair or, more likely, the letters she wrote to her brother that Rochefort has are going to come into play. Guess Rochefort won't take it well that she doesn't wanna get jiggy with him...

    ReplyDelete
  105. I hope its not the affair ! But I did not think about the letters...

    ReplyDelete
  106. maybe Rochefort tell king about baby

    ReplyDelete
  107. Ooh, thanks kynikey. Now there's a loaded press release! It sounds like these last two episodes are going to be heart in the mouth stuff!😃

    ReplyDelete
  108. Now this really makes me think the theory about the King dying might be right. And I guess Constance gets arrested because they think she helped the Queen?

    ReplyDelete
  109. Where did you find the press release?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Blimey. If it's true at least I won't have to write my fan-fic after all...:/

    ReplyDelete
  111. I guess it didn't cross their minds that the King's BFF might be a threat to him as well. Very much a 'doh' moment for the boys if something happens. :(

    ReplyDelete
  112. But if the King dies, the Musketeers have failed in their duty to protect him and it renders the time d'Artagnan spent with him in episodes 2 and 6 as unimportant..

I'd rather than King died from natural causes at a later date..

    ReplyDelete
  113. Hey there kynikey, cheers for the heads up, and good to see you again. Hope you enjoyed the last two episodes? :)

    ReplyDelete
  114. oh god now am 90% sure something might happen to the king because whatever rochefort does in episode 9 he might succeed because of pictures from episode 10 he may be in control and holding the queen hostage

    ReplyDelete
  115. It the letter she wrote I think

    ReplyDelete
  116. Sorry if i want this episode NOW!
    OMG.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I think of the letters too.
When Rochefort will find out about Aramis i don't think he will tell the King, this is something he will fix with his own hands. Trying to kill Aramis, perhaps.
    CAN'T WAIT.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I watched again Constance's vision, and the part with the boia seems to take place in almost the same scenario of the ep 10 picture, the one with D'Artagnan and Constance looking at something.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I'm personally leaning towards there being no break, and the possibility that the episode could be moved either to another channel. The new Press Release from BBC America is dated 14th March, which makes it look like there is no delay. They have made another mistake in getting the name of episode 2.08 wrong on their site though, so it could be that they have done so here too. Or it could be that they are refusing to take a break when BBC One are, but I'm not sure what the legal situation is there and who has contributed what production wise and has 'first rights' to broadcast.

On the other hand, with the other two breaks that we have had there was also a break in the screeners becoming available, and there hasn't been any delay this time round. which I did find a little odd at the time. But now this PR is out, I am wondering if there will be no break now, just a move to BBC Two, or something.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Possibly not, if he refuses their protection. It seems clear that The Musketeers have placed their loyalty firmly with the Queen. To protect her, when she has been accused of treason, would itself be considered a treasonous act against the King. Louis has lost it at this point and has clearly thrown his lot in with Rochefort and his henchmen in the Red Guards. D'Artagnan's time with the King in 2&6 served to illustrate that the King cannot be counselled by The Musketeers. In both episodes D'Artagnan saw what a profoundly selfish, ungrateful, cowardly and indulged individual the King is. If the King dies I think it will be at a point where the Regiment itself may be fighting to survive. He may even have disbanded them as a result of their loyalty to the Queen. I actually think an ending in which the King says "Aw, thanks guys. I know I was a bit mean to you but hey ho. Rochefort's dead. Let's never fight again." Would be very trite after what they've gone through. As Marmion observed, you make your choices in life and you take the consequences. Even if you're the King.

    ReplyDelete
  121. With the way the BBC are treating the show, it doesn't feel like they particularly care, does it :(

The iPlayer stats are out for January btw, and the highest figure the show got was for the first episode - 861,000 - so it didn't break the 1mill mark. I think it would be cancelled if it wasn't for the overseas involvement tbh :(

    ReplyDelete
  122. Those figures are really poor :( Mind you, it's the treatment that the BBC has given it that has done this, not the quality of the show. Personally, I wish another channel buys it up, as the BBC have acted appallingly!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Very true. And I don't know why, but for the past couple of weeks I've also been thinking about them maybe disbanding the regiment at the end of the season (though I didn't think about the King dying, I rather thought he might disband them and then realize he might need them once the war with Spain comes about). But reading your thoughts, I think there would be some kind of poetic justice to the King disbanding them, and the Queen putting them back together. :)

    ReplyDelete
  124. I couldn't agree with you more, there's a massive fan base out there worldwide, and it feels like they have done very little to build on it at all. It's all been down to people like Jessica and the cast to generate the excitement and advertising for the show through their Twitter accounts. Such a shame.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I did! (Just work and social life and all keeping me away from the site for a bit) :) I think they're finally getting their groove back (thank god). Can't believe we're on to episode 7 already! Hiatus is almost upon us again! How did that happen!?

    ReplyDelete
  126. I wonder if they might keep it on BBC One but move it for one week, maybe to another night. I tend to agree though that the BBC in the UK simply doesn't care anymore. So it's anyone's guess how it will play out. They have in the past moved shows to BBC Two on Red Nose Day and they'll recon The Musketeers will get a low audience anyway, so they won't really care if it gets spanked on a night when most of the audience will be tuned in to the festivities on BBC One.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Sometimes I really wish I knew what they're thinking. I mean, why promote shows with a guaranteed high audience number so heavily and completely spurn the once that would actually need more viewers to make them feasible for them? Especially when it's clear there's going to be another season...

    ReplyDelete
  128. It is a shame and I'm so sad for them that these figures too aren't great. It would seem that around 5.5 mill consolidated was their best performance. As you say, thank goodness for the overseas sales. Even then, I think it's almost certain that they'll be riding off into the sunset for good at the end of series three.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Agreed, the guys are finally getting back into the swing of things. I really hope that S3 starts off that way, with no individual episodes showcasing them one by one. We don't need that, or particularly need to see it imo, let's get them working together from the off, All for One and all that :)

Yes, the dreaded hellatus :( At least with this show they do give us lots of updates throughout it, we're lucky on that front :)

    ReplyDelete
  130. Everyone who I have persuaded to watch the show this year haven't stopped saying how wonderful it is and is always the first thing people say! However, this promotion shouldn't be down to you and I but the BBC. So angry towards the BBC - let's hope another channel buys it up and we then may see more than 3 seasons!

  131. Yep, another evening could be a possibility too I guess. I really wish they would just tell us what the heck is going to happen during these times. The last two were down to guess work on our behalf too...

    ReplyDelete
  132. I totally agree with this. Individual episodes are great, if the iverall storyline calls for that kind of focus but we know these guys so well now. We know what motivates them and we know their strengths and weaknesses. The joy is in how, as a team, they build on those strengths and compensate for any weaknesses. We need the brotherhood back, badly.

    ReplyDelete
  133. That's true, thank god for Jessica and the guys. :) And yeah, I do enjoy the episodes that focus on one the guys occasionally, but I think this season they started out way too early with that (I mean, episode 2, hello? How about letting new viewers get into it a little before you do that?) and most of them were focused too strongly on that one character and forgot about all the others in the process. There really could have been a bit of a better balance...

    ReplyDelete
  134. It's just utter disrespect at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Same here, I know lots of casual fans who tune in each week - well I say each week, they rely on me to tell them which week it IS on! In fact, just about everyone I know offline watches it, has their favourites and is invested in the characters, the beautiful settings, etc. I know that the BBC has to save money atm, but I'm stumped as to why they chose to bury this show above others!

    ReplyDelete
  136. It does look that way doesn't it unfortunately. I don't think it would work quite as well on a channel that relies heavily on advertised, and I can't see many of the cast wanting to stay on either, and I wouldn't blame them.

It would be interesting to see how the show would have done with some advertising behind it though...

    ReplyDelete
  137. Isn't it ridiculous. I was chatting to someone at work about the show, who spotted my Red Sharlach Musketeers phone cover 😄 and they asked, "Is it back on?" ...as we approach week seven. That says it all. What I don't understand is that in a tough ecomomical enviroment, why you would invest huge sums in a series ( just watch the new clip of the astrological globe being built) and the p*ss it up the wall the way they have. It's a disgrace really.

    ReplyDelete
  138. It kind of feels like the BBC regretted the renewal so early in season 1 when the figures went down so drastically at the end of the season. So they didn't even bother with season 2, probably thinking it was gonna be the end of it anyway. Guess they didn't expect the overseas reception...

    ReplyDelete
  139. Yep, my aunt hadn't realised it was back on last week when I spoke to her. Utterly amazed at the total lack of advertising the show has had!

Oh, new clip? I will go get it up :)

    ReplyDelete
  140. Much as they've loved working together and being in Prague, holding on to Tom and Luke in particular was always going to be a tough proposition if it had gone longer than three. I could also have seen several of the other cast members getting itchy feet too. Ten months out if your working year on one project is a huge commitment, Particularly if you're turning down other work to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  141. On a slightly funnier note: I have a poster of the guys in my office (...that I had to print out myself, as there aren't any official ones) and my new boss came into my office this week, kept staring at the poster and suddenly went "Aren't these the guys my daughters make me watch each week?!" - Well, I guess his daughters have good taste. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  142. Is the show considered a success, or is all of this moving around a bad sign?

    ReplyDelete
  143. Maybe they wanted to see how the show does without advertising it. I am curious tho, can BBC America buy it from BBC One ? It seems as though its much more popular on BBC America than BBC One.

    ReplyDelete
  144. I'm from Canada and I know a few people who watch the show here as well. I even made my friends watch the show and they love it just as much! I first found this show on tumblr and quite frankly Im glad I did cuz its so damn good. I do not have BBC America but I do watch the show online and sometimes I'll live stream BBC One if I don't feel like waiting. In my opinion, It is much better than the American tv shows. I do not want to see it end so BBC better start advertising the show!!

    ReplyDelete
  145. Hey there sva7 :) Internationally it's a massive success. It's sold to more than 140 countries, which makes it the second biggest selling drama that the BBC have, and I'd guess in the top 10 shows they sell abroad. Unfortunately, the BBC are being forced to save money by the government freezing the Licence Fee - it is the UK's public-service broadcaster and does not have any advertising revenue at all, thank god!

The cynic in me thinks that they have possibly under-advertised it perhaps to offload some of the expense onto BBC Worldwide - which is a profit company rather than a non-profit one like the BBC itself. That would make it a win/win situation all round for them, the Licence Fee cash is freed up and international fans are taken care of.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Totally agree - they put so much money in to advertising Eastenders, when that was guaranteed to get high audience numbers (although personally, I can't stand it!), but have put absolutely nothing in to The Musketeers.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Some individual episodes will be needed in each series, especially in D'artagnan's case. I know I keep banging on about it but at some point, d'Artagnan will have to become a little more prominent than the others - "central" as Jessica seemed to imply - in order for d'Artagnan to truly fulfil his potential as the legendry Musketeer.
I was disappointed with the payoff for Merlin / Arthur in that show and I'd hate for the producers of the Musketeers to do a half-hearted job on D'artagnan's journey because they're slow in moving him forward. For me, this is even more important than Constagnan, however much I like the pairing.
I'm certainly looking forward to more 'brotherhood' in S3 - hopefully - because I think there's been too much court stuff this year.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Didn't Cardinal Mazarin disband the Musketeers in real life? Keeping d'Artagnan and one or two others in the service of the King and Cardinal?

    ReplyDelete
  149. That's way more explanation than I was expecting -- thank you for that, Sandi.

Re: offloading the cost to the worldwide affiliates, I'm Canadian and the advertising on BBC America has also been scant. I have a handful of friends who were eagerly awaiting its return, who have BBCA, and were really confused when I started posting about the first couple of episodes on Facebook.

It's disappointing, because while the show isn't high art, it's pure fun and the performances are genuinely good. There's no reason why this show shouldn't be garnering far more attention than it is. I understand the need to cut costs, but the frustrating thing is when BBC won't even post the "next week" trailer on their YouTube account, which surely doesn't cost them much.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Could be related to the Queen's "treason" as well -- with the argument that she aided the Queen.

    ReplyDelete
  151. No idea - I know I've seen that scenario in one of the movies though! LOL ;)

    ReplyDelete
  152. Here's to hoping. But isn't BBCA kind of a niche channel over there? I can't imagine the numbers being THAT great, can they? Has anyone ever actually seen the US ratings and knows?

    ReplyDelete
  153. Since by this point the ratings are so crap anyway, they may as well move it to BBC2, just to let us see the damn thing. It's not like it'd affect any decisions on the show's future, is it? :( If they don't break for 9 in the US, they won't break for 10 either, which would give them the entire finale before the UK as we'll be on 9 the day before they get 10 and therefore we'll be a week behind. Totally unfair, imo, so I hope the US delays or UK Beeb moves it to another channel.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Like it'd make a difference? We seem to be the only people who know it's on anyway. They've made no effort to catch 'casual' viewers on BBC1, so putting it on BBC2 won't make a blind bit of difference in that respect.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Oh geez, i meant executioner!
I wrote you in italian xD

    ReplyDelete
  156. My worry is the BBC doesn't have the best record for finishing off these kinds of shows well, or ending its characters' stories in a believable or acceptable way. Robin Hood is a prime example of what NOT to do, and was probably even worse served than the Musketeers in terms of the Beeb just giving up on it. Killing Robin? Killing Marian? WTH?! I hadn't seen such a stupid massacre of major characters since Blakes 7. And I wasn't overly impressed with Merlin's ending either. I was a fan all the way through - apart from hating Katie McGrath with a passion - and wanted a much better conclusion than they gave us. Nobody got a good conclusion.

As long as Adrian sticks with his vision here and respects his characters, I'm hopeful the end will be one worthy of them all, but I'll admit I'm nervous it will lose its way as the others did.

    ReplyDelete
  157. We'd all assumed the d'Artagnan/Louis scenes were about showing us d'Artagnan's loyalty and future greatness and rlationship with the King (whichever king it turns out to be), but it seems now they were there to drive home Marmion's message that our actions all have consequences, and Louis' treatment of the Musketeers is what will fail him, not the men themselves. Rather like crying wolf, he's pushed them away and pushed them away, and when he really needs them he'll have pushed them away too forcefully and find himself exposed and alone with nobody to protect him. So (assuming of course Louis does die) I think those scenes may have been almost a reassurance to the viewers that no matter what the Musketeers do now they CAN'T save him. They won't have failed, because they'll save the Queen and the Dauphin. The only Musketeer who may feel more responsible than the rest is Treville, because his refusal to join the Council set everything in motion for Rochefort to insinuate himself into the royal Court, but even that's a bit harsh as he was given two seconds to answer, and had no way of knowing how bad things would get. Ever since he's done nothing but his best to protect the King. Louis' fate now is in his own hands, through his own short-sightedness, cowardice and weakness.

    ReplyDelete
  158. There was a live Eastenders (a soap opera) show on. They'd done an 18 month plot-line on who had killed off a character, and run a week of live episodes that ended last Friday with a live chat show afterwards. The Musketeers actually started a little late because of it not switching over to BBC Three on schedule. The BBC One twitter account carried on tweeting about that, rather than what was on BBC One however, even though there is a BBC Three twitter account too....

    ReplyDelete
  159. you right he will have to face the consequences of treating the musketeers badly.with the king he doesn't have the respect of the musketeers and now they choose to protect the queen no matter what they are willing to risk their lives for the queen

    ReplyDelete
  160. Will they take the dauphin with them?? This sounds so exciting!

    ReplyDelete
  161. At least in the first series when one character was showcased, the story did encompass all of them. They didn't do that so well the first half of this series.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Betting you all this one ends on a cliffhanger. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  163. I also think, while he could make the accusation, despite maybe getting Marguerite to testify of it or something it would be hard to prove. The letters are solid physical evidence. Rochefort has them. It's the easiest avenue.

    ReplyDelete
  164. I agree, it would be a nightmare having to stay off the internet for the week if the U.S. aired the final before the UK. I like to be spoiled to a degree but not THAT spoiled, lol...

    ReplyDelete
  165. LMAO! And I thought it was a really cool English word I'd never heard of! Must learn Italian. :P

    ReplyDelete
  166. I don't think the king will die, but I don't think if he did that would render d'Artagnan's time with him unimportant. I think d'Artagnan's growth in those episodes is more key.

    ReplyDelete
  167. I just thought about this and wondered if I was too harsh with this season. Because how many episodes didn't live up to everyone's expectations so far? I think it were only two for me. And idk, that's kinda normal for a season. But that's only for me. i don't know how you guys feel about this.

    ReplyDelete
  168. In real-life they were disbanded for a time.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Does the last sentence seem way, WAY over-spoilery to you? If, as is being presumed, Louis is killed, they've pretty much sky-written it in pink smoke and size 50 fonts.......

    ReplyDelete
  170. He did. The real d'Artagnan became a spy for Mazarin at that time. It was after the Musketeers were reformed with Mazarin's confidence and recommendation that d'Artagnan became 2nd leftenant and then eventually captain. He'd gained a lot of trust with Louis XIV during his time as a spy also, so when the regiment was reformed, he was pretty much the man.

    ReplyDelete
  171. It certainly makes it seem a very real possibility.

    ReplyDelete
  172. I think you're probably right. Regretfully, they just didn't seem to hit their stride, and those episodes came early in the series, so that my confidence was shaky about how things would progress.

The first episode was decent for me (with some clunky dialog here and there), then episodes two and especially three, started to lose me, and I was very worried that trend would continue.

It hasn't all been aces since, but it's been much better.

    ReplyDelete
  173. I think it seems VERY spoilery, which is why it could just be that Louis loses any and all control over Rochefort / court and is locked up or something, leaving Anne completely vulnerable etc.
Jessica tweeted a final pic of Louis apparently kneeling in the palace with a worried expressionn on his face and she added words "on your knees" as if Rochefort was about to kill him or something, which again would be VERY spoilery if Louis was indeed about to die..

    ReplyDelete
  174. I also think some fans would LIKE Louis to die because it means Anne would have more power and Aramis would be better able to have an affair with her but people risk putting their wishful thinking onto the storyline.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Thanks for the input Sandi! This is quite confusing so I guess we will just have to wait and see.

    ReplyDelete
  176. I remember I described the first season as a sassy televised period drama fanfiction and I kinda love that. I just want to be entertained. I don't need them to be historically adequat or "deep". I like this show as it is. There were two episodes which didn't entertain me this season. but it got back on track.

    ReplyDelete
  177. I know I definitely am...lol :D (And I know that most likely means it's never gonna happen... *sigh* But I can wish for a few more weeks before all my hopes get shattered! ;) )

    ReplyDelete
  178. It totally is. And when has anything ever panned out the way it was written in the press release? Also, isn't that like the 7th time or so the use the words "devastating consequences" in their press releases (I still remember the one from episode 6!)? And it usually ends up being something not quite as devastating. So again, probably just a ploy to make it sound more exciting.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Nice!😄 Now if I ever meet Luca I can say executioner! He'll think I'm a complete nut but on the plus side, a bi-lingual nut....with a death fetish...

    ReplyDelete
  180. If i start mixing languages is the end! lol

    ReplyDelete
  181. But "devastating consequences"? The wording is either deliberate or poorly chosen. Louis being locked up or even a bit tortured by Rochefort wouldn't be devastating. Anne being isolated and vulnerable wouldn't be devastating. Frightening, yes, embarrassing, absolutely, as it points out how bad Palace security is, but 'devastating' to me suggests death. And in the finale, it's got to be a big one.

    ReplyDelete
  182. I wouldn't worry! If I could be half as eloquent in another language as most people on here are in English, I'd be well pleased.:)

    ReplyDelete
  183. If you ever go at some "meet and greet" with the cast tell me, i will do some quick translation work for you!
So you can say to him normal things! lol

    ReplyDelete
  184. As kynikey has said, the press releases have used big words before and the reality wasn't as dramatic as what was implied..

I still think the Musketeers can't be shown to fail the King, no matter how childish he is. I could be wrong, we'll find out in 4 weeks.. :)

    ReplyDelete
  185. Well, remember ep 6 and its "dramatic consequences"? What were those again?

    ReplyDelete
  186. That's what I'm saying. It's either a massively, stupidly telling spoiler, or it's anticlimactic overkill.

    ReplyDelete
  187. Agree. Now i really want to see how this happen. I mean, if in episode eight he gets rejected i understand why he will do this, but then? I'm almost thinking that he can blackmail the Queen... like "I can save you, just choose me and stay with me". He's nut enough for this kind of... exchange.

    ReplyDelete
  188. Brits will conquer the world, we are just preparing ourselves!
And i have to thank you, i've learned a lot of new words here. :)

    ReplyDelete
  189. I HATED it so very much when they killed Marian! Almost no one in the states has seen that series, but it had so much potential!

    ReplyDelete
  190. In real history, Anne gets into big trouble for sending compromising letters to her brother, Spain. There are huge consequences for Anne. She is separated from her favorite intimate in court, she lives as a virtual prisoner, she loses Louis' trust, all of her correspondence is watched, and she is locked out of most regency powers in Louis XIII's will.

    ReplyDelete
  191. Better not, or they will get accused of royal abduction other than treason. lol But i wonder who will guard the child. Red guards probabily... bad thing.

    ReplyDelete
  192. I think, from the photo of Constance in the jail, that maybe Constance and The queen would go to the jail togethere! And then the muskeeters save them

    ReplyDelete
  193. More likely Rochefort gets Constance out of the way first to completely isolate Anne.

    ReplyDelete
  194. ...not always the most appropriate ones though!. :P

    ReplyDelete
  195. i think yes, i doubt that aramis leave his son with Rochefort

    ReplyDelete
  196. From the advance of EP8 where Milady said "If the Queen slept with Aramis that would be treason"... This is getting me very excited for the potential we can foresee. Like you said in one of your posts Jagoda Nestor. They´ll be together again. This is going to be great for us Annamis shippers. Can´t wait.
Also I think if they all agree to help the Queen is because they know about the affari, so our Aramis will have to come clean with his Brothers in Arms
