  1. Watching those two bicker is oddly enjoyable.

  2. Did we know that that would be happening so soon?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Haha, I kinda love those two together, of course when they merge again, I'm assuming Ronnie will be in control, then we'll see how Stein likes to be in the passenger seat.

    ReplyDelete
  4. That was hilarious. Now when they two merge it is going to be lots of fun. One question? Is the firestorm always in the merged form or can they come together and away as a choice when the situation requires for it?

    ReplyDelete
  5. looking forward to this episode

  6. Wiki tells me the two can summon each other to merge, they don't just stay together the whole time. I'm assuming that's where they're eventually heading on The Flash but until then, it won't be voluntary.

  7. Thanks. I was feeling lazy to look it up. Also someone here always has all the answers. :D This is going to be a great snarky relationship.

  8. It's ok, I looked it up when I first heard the character of Firestorm was coming the Flash and tried to make sense of how two people can co-inhabit one superhero body. Firestorm and Reverse Flash are the two things right now still keeping me hooked to the show, so I definitely look forward to more Ronnie-Martin snarky banter.

Hmm... A Firestorm AND ATOM show? That would be pretty amazing. I feel like Firestorm might be too powerful to stay on The Flash as a regular (for more than a season), but considering Caitlin is on The Flash, I think Ronnie/Stein probably won't get a spin-off and will either be regulars or recurring guest stars. Ray is ok, I think a lot depends on the supporting cast they build for him, his enemies, etc. Also I think his powers are different enough that they could lead to interesting story telling that would be a bit different from how The Flash solves things.

  9. It's supposed to be it's a big factor of their relationship in the comics.

  10. Ray Palmer and Ronnie Raymond are linked in the comics. So if they are starting a new show I would like both these characters team up to bring down baddies. That would be awesome. Regarding Caitlin she can become Killer Frost in the Flash and then move to the new show to be paired with or be the antagonist there.

Ray is strictly ok for me. The problem with him is he is so isolated. We only see him with Felicity and that interaction was botched by the romance angle. He is mostly hit and miss for me. Sometimes I feel they are trying too hard to make him quirky. He needs to interact with more people stat.

  11. BARRY GET JEALOUS!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. LOL Ronnie and Stein

    ReplyDelete
  13. i hope so, Ronnie needs to be the Driver after all he's been through

    ReplyDelete
  14. why would Firestorm being very powerful not allow him to be on the show? (Snowbarry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

    ReplyDelete
  15. "Alive? We were living under a bridge eating garbage." LOL Ok. that's it...I want a Star Labs sweatshirt! Not tee shirt, sweatshirt! The fact that Dr. Stein gets one before me is unacceptable. But on another note...Looking good Garber! Total badass with the sweatshirt. I'm jealous. lol

  16. I figured they wouldn't want someone on the Flash who is a lot more powerful than the Flash, at least as a regular. Maybe they'll depower Firestorm a bit or make him less stable, which would allow for him to be a regular.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Are they? Guess I need to go back to my research then, I totally missed that. I don't see Caitlin becoming Killer Frost before the end of S2 at least if not S3, that's a long way from now to plan on her moving to another show, but it's possible.

I don't like how they're isolating Ray and not letting him interact with people other than Felicity and the Ray/Felicity romance I could be ok with, if I felt it was more than just a placeholder for Olicity. Ray deserves better than that, hell Felicity deserves better than that too. I hope once he's out in the field, that changes a bit. Those few seconds he interacted with Quentin and the Mayor were nice, I'd like more of that. Hell, it'd be nice to have him and Laurel interact at least once out in the field, since they're both becoming vigilantes around the same time, both are motivated by lost loved ones and have a desire to help people.

  18. oh yeah i guess, but i hope they don't de-power him, it'd be like when they de-powered Peter on Heroes, a huge mistake, i just want more DC shows LOL. I would LOVE a Firestorm spin-off and an Atom spin-off and them to be all connected, like Supergirl and Titans i want them to be connected too to the Arrow and The Flash universe

    ReplyDelete
  19. i want the sweatshirt AND the mug Barry had in the Barry and Caitlin episode

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well, maybe not depower exactly, but like with Barry, they'll have him slowly come into his skillset. He's be able to fly and flame on, obviously, but I think I read he can do a lot more than that, so they might keep it at that, for now. I want more DC shows! Dick Grayson is my favorite character, so I'm both excited and nervous about Titans, not sure if I'll watch Supergirl, I'll definitely wait on early reactions for that one. I don't think they can have it all connected though, some of them are on completely different networks and Arrow is pretending to be all realistic, but they'll be connected to a universe that has aliens? If they do, I demand Laurel get her Canary Cry.

    ReplyDelete
  21. )oh yeah well Firestorm is considered one of the most powerful superheroes out there and he can't know all of his powers right away you're right, which could make for a great series. Him learning how to control his powers , i still can't believe they used a Marvel saying "flame on" (Human Torch's) LOL. Titans could fit because of Nightwing and they already have a metahuman-centered show and at a point they can't shy away from the metahuman world they have to embrace if they want a long future. Why are you nervous about Titans and Supergirl?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'd love Firestorm to start off as recurring this season and maybe become a regular next season, assuming they don't get a spinoff of their own. Them learning to control their powers, how to merge and unmerge voluntarily, learn to work together could be interesting to watch.

Titans will have an alien and magic, and it's on a different network, so we'll see if they connect that, same about Supergirl. The thing is, meta-humans are still explained away as science, same about Ray Palmer's shrinking powers, magic and aliens are a bit different, so we'll see if Arrow wants to connect that to their "realistic" universe (they had issues with having meta-humans on their show and Laurel getting her Canary Cry, imagine how they'd feel about aliens and magic).

I'm not that interested in Superman and his extended family, which is why I'm not excited about Supergirl, but if I hear good things, I'll probably check it out. Because Dick Grayson is my favorite character, I'm worried about the casting or the characterization and about me not being able to accept a Dick Grayson that doesn't fit my headcanon. I'll try and keep an open mind, as long as the casting is decent and the character at its core is Dick, that's all I'm asking for. Just don't cast someone bland and stiff and they'd better not try and make Dick Batman-lite, because that's not who he is at all.

  23. Palmer is going to interact with Cisco as per the spoilers in the crossover. Of course right now Caitlin is a good guy. I think even in comics she is not an out and out bad guy. Even if it happens on the show it will be way down the line. Maybe S3 or S4.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ronnie Raymond is the student of Ray Palmer when he was a professor in some university. That's all I remember about that.

I would have been okay with Felicity/Ray romance even as a foil for Olicity if it was done well. That ep. 07 where him doing the salmon ladder and giving her the clothes, that dinner with the speech.. ugh.. It felt cheap. Both Ray and Felicity deserve better. The aim was for oliver to throw a fit in the arrow cave. To reach there they completely threw Ray and Felicity under the bus. If only they had bonded on technology and his need to do good. Or shocker kept them growing as best friends after a rocky start.

We need to see him interact with more people. Oliver especially. We need to see two heroes interacting. They have made him so much Iron Man lite I get the feeling they might make him come out and declare as a hero to the press of Starling City. That will be the complete opposite of Oliver Queen who loves secrets.

  25. Oh, interesting.

I'm willing to pretend 3X07 never happened and never invited those writers back, there wasn't a single redeeming quality about that episode. From Cupid stupid, to Felicity fawning over Ray's body and his expensive gifts, DJ Douchebag, Oliver's temper tantrum, Diggle trying to guilt Felicity into dating Oliver so Oliver stops being cranky... Ray and Felicity could actually be pretty perfect for one another- they have enough in common to have non-vigilante things to talk about, he appreciates her and her skills, he cares about her emotional well being, but still calls her off when she takes her emotional baggage out on him, but in an adult and respectable way. Oliver is a controlling manchild who needs to chill, make up his mind and stop being the dictator over everyone's lives.

I'd love Ray-Oliver interactions, but I worry it'll end up just being about Felicity, which no, please don't go there. Just let them interact as heroes trying to help their city without it devolving over who is best suited to win the prize of her affections.

  26. Firestorm can't unmerge once they're merged, it's not possible, right Titans will have Raven and Star Fire, would you like Steven R. McQuuen to play Nightwing? I thought Nightwing WAS dark and brooding like Batman, he's not?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I am also pretending 3x07 never happened just like 2x14. Funny both are written by same female writers and both managed to ruin Felicity a bit for me. Ray and Felicity could have been so much better if they could have given them more meaningful scenes than just over dose of quirk and cheese.

You are right Oliver/Ray interactions has all the patterns of becoming all about romance. I hope they keep it on down low and look at their different outlooks on being a hero. All that said I think this season could have done without Ray Palmer imo. Its getting really crowded on Arrow. And they are not learning from their mistakes of season 2.

    ReplyDelete
  28. yeah i know about Cisco, and it would be insanely awesome if he interacts with Barry. The Flash and The Atom in the same room would be epic!!! and i'll be waiting for The Arrow, The Flash, Arsenal, The Black Canary, Speedy, Firestorm and The Atom in the same room, Caitlin CANNOT turn evil EVER!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. 2X14 is the one with the hallway scene between Oliver and Laurel right? Where Laurel had to apologize for Sara and Oliver flaunting their relationship in front of her at what was supposed to be a private family event (meant to bring her parents together) and Oliver told an addict to go have a drink on him. I'm more than willing to pretend that episode never happened as well, what happened with Felicity in that episode?

I do think Ray and Felicity have had meaningful scenes- they talked about Anna and the night she died, Ray was there for her when she was going through emotional stuff, but didn't let her take it out on him and they had the moment in 2X11 after he tried to play the hero. I don't think it's all quirk and cheese, I just wish they focused more on those moments.

I definitely think Ray is a bit of this season's Sara, only she took over the show a lot more- she was in the flashbacks, in almost every episode and interacted with a lot of characters, Ray has missed several episodes, is only in the present and interacts only with Felicity, so maybe they did learn from their mistakes with Sara. I do think this season is a little over crowded and maybe they should have waited for next season for Ray. While I like Ray, I'd rather they give Thea and Quentin more screen time than develop a guest character that exists in his own little universe/story line.

  30. From the little I know of Firestorm, Ronnie and Martin in the comics can summon the other, when they want to merge and become Firestorm. I don't think Steven R. McQueen is right for Nightwing, from the little I've seen of his acting while he was on TVD (and while I was watching). OMG you've got Dick all wrong if you think he's brooding like Batman- Dick brought light and levity to Bruce's life, he's charming, easy going and has terrible puns, he makes friends anywhere he goes, he's gone through a lot of trauma, but he's emotionally resilient and always manages to bounce back. It's why I love him so much.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 2x14 also had Felicity being jealous of Sara, wearing a leather jacket like her and going out on field. It was annoying to see a character who from the get go was really confident about her skills being written jealous like that. All because another woman joined the team. If it was a dude they would never have done that.

I like some Ray/Felicity scenes. Others feel tacked on. All in all I wish they jad went about it in a different way.

Ray is this season's Sara, Ted Grant is Isobel Rochev and Malcolm is Slade. But then we have Ra's Al Ghul who trumps all of them. Ted is already gone. With Malcolm playing such a big role amd Ra's looming this season they should have avoided an ATOM origin story this season. Already Diggle is paying the price. They should concentrate on their maon cast and use guest stars to enhance them mot the other way around.

  32. I hope she doesn't for your sake. Would it help if I say even if she turns evil it will be for a small time.

  33. Who cares what you think Olicity fans. You don't like Ray for obvious reasons we get it. He will interact with others in time, prepare your next reasons to hate him, next..

    ReplyDelete
  34. Wow. Thank you for letting me know I am an Olicity fan. I didn't know.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The Flash is one of the most powerful heroes in DC universe, the firestorm can never be as powerful as him, only Superman and a few others. I don't think they will depower firestorm at all. He has got many little powers, but they are not all that, In any case I think they owill use a few of his main powers. He is not ready yet to carry his own show, I honestly don't think it will be necessary considering Caitlin is big part of flash and they have used a lot of firestorm villains already.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yeah right Olicity fans. You don't like Ray for obvious reasons we get it. He will interact with others in time prepare your next reasons to hate him, next..

  37. Dude once again thank you for letting me know I am a shipper. What would I have done without this knowledge.

  38. If you are not, you certainly do a good job of thinking like one. Internalised their behavior much.

    ReplyDelete
  39. oh that's pretty cool, i just thought once he became Nightwing he became just like Batman my bad

    ReplyDelete
  40. No, he's still loveable Dick Grayson, even when he took over as Batman while Bruce was 'dead'.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Thanks, I only know what Wiki told me, so any new info helps. I also don't think Firestorm is ready for his own show yet, I could see him being recurring/regular on The Flash first, especially because Caitlin is there.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh I definitely hated that the only story line they gave Felicity in S2 was of being insecure and jealous of Sara, who like Felicity, is basically good at everything. I definitely agree that if it was a guy, we wouldn't have gotten that kind of story line.

We need Ra's to come back at some point (I assume 3X15 or at the end of 3X14) because for a big bad looming over the show, he didn't really impress me or leave a lasting impression. I definitely think they could have held off on Ray's story line, but he doesn't bother me. I agree that they should use the guest stars to enhance the regulars and not the other way around, but this is an ongoing problem for Arrow, it's not new for this season.

Diggle 'paid the price' already in S2, other than 2 episodes, he was mostly in the background being supportive and Thea had no story lines last season other than being Roy's motivation, so I think it's a bit unfair to pretend that all Arrow's problems with using their main cast started this season. Better writers would know how to utilize their cast better, is all I'm saying. If they have too many people on the team, then write bigger threats that require people in multiple locations working together and that's how you have both Diggle and Roy (and later Laurel) out into the field, without leaving Diggle to babysit the foundry.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think from ep 15 onwards Ra's is going to be an ongoing presence. I was telling someone if the name Ra's Al Ghul was not there and I didn't know the relevance of the said character I would have wondered why on earth is Oliver fighting the guy. All he wanted was to punish Sara's killer and take Merlyn captive because he broke their code and killed 503 people. Where as now Oliver is protecting and working with Sara's killer (whom we spent 9 episodes trying to find) against a man who wants to punish the said killer. It's twisted.

Agreed. It's an ongoing problem. But last season it did not look stupid when Diggle was in the foundry. Because it was mostly Oliver and Sara going out. And they both are more capable on field than Diggle. But this season they went one step ahead. When Oliver died it should have been Diggle who always lead the team and going out. Instead they benched him and send the two rookies. All they had to do was injure Diggle a bit more during that fight with Brick in ep. 10. How difficult is that? And I feel as more and more comic book masked characters come to the forefront they are loosing interest in writing for Diggle. Better write him off or make him a recurring character.

    ReplyDelete
  44. It's about time. I wasn't happy with the casting in the first place, then Matt didn't impress me and now he's been MIA since 3X09, I need Ra's to come back and live up to his reputation. I do think it's kinda funny that Oliver is siding with Merlyn against Ra's, but Malcolm put him in this situation when he brainwashed Thea to kill Sara. Now if only Ra's would say "give us Merlyn and we'll leave you all alone", then I'd imagine Oliver should be more than happy to hand him over. Then again, he had the option of doing so in 3X04 and was dumb enough to anger the League and let Merlyn stay free, without even trying to lock him up and test his "no prison can hold me" boast.

I definitely think they should have written in a reason for Diggle to stay behind or sent him off somewhere else on his own little mission, the writers clearly will always choose the laziest story telling option. I don't see them getting rid of Diggle, for the simple reason that he's their only black character and the CW will keep him if for no other reason than tokenism. There's so much you could do with Diggle if the writers cared a lick about him- like send him off to head Argus, but that would require them to care about him for more than 1-2 episodes per season *is bitter*
