Homeland star Morena Baccarin has nabbed the female lead in Deadpool, Fox's action movie based on the Marvel character.

Tim Miller is directing the action adventure project, which stars Ryan Reynolds as an assassin who undergoes a procedure to cure his cancer, but it ends up leaving him twisted and scarred while also imbued with super-powers.

T.J. Miller and Gina Carano are already attached to the project, which is eyeing a March shoot, and is slated for an early 2016 release.

Baccarin is one of a handful of actresses shortlisted for the hot role as Reynolds' character's love interest. The character grapples with falling for a man with a hideously scarred face.

  1. I was really pulling for Crystal Reed but I like Morena so still happy about the casting.

  2. how does this work, a movie about a supervillain. I can't enjoy that, it's not MCU right?

  3. YES! I'm so happy :) This movie could become a favourite of mine at this rate!

  4. Wow! That's the 3rd comic book role she's got. First the voice of Haruson Wells computer on the Flash then Gordon's love interest on Gotham and now lead female role for Deadpool. Good for her!

  5. I'm pretty sure Deadpool is Marvel but it's one of the FOX properties like X-Men is.

  6. Deadpool is an anti-hero (a flawed hero) :) It's an awesome chatacter and not a supervillain, so you should give the film a chance :)

  7. YAY!!! She is awesome.

  8. yeah that's what i meant

  9. so he's not out to kill innocent people?

    ReplyDelete
  10. even with ryan reynolds?

    ReplyDelete
  11. 2 DC's and one Marvel pretty cool

  12. Yes, I don't have anything against him and he seemed perfect for the role in the footage that was 'leaked'.

  13. Not at random :D he's a paid mercenary so if someone hires him to kill an innocent person then he will without a problem (it's unlikely he will kill innocent people in The film)

  14. so he's not redeemable? and what will the plot of the film be? because i wouldn't enjoy him being paid to kill an innocent person so i hope you're right they better not have him kill people

    ReplyDelete
  15. no i meant because of the way Green Lantern went, i thought he was the same as Ben Affleck, what was the leak?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I liked Green Lantern. There was test footage leaked shortly before FOX greenlit the movie.

  17. You forgot that she also voiced Black Canary in the animated Justice League Unlimited.

  18. Deadpool doesn't care if he kills innocent people but he won't for no reason. I don't know the plot to the film but I think he will only kill bad guys and their goons :D Deadpool likes to kill. He is argueably the best mercenary in the world so he gets hired a lot and he is in demand at some point. I doubt he'll accept small jobs where he has to kill someone small. He likes a challenge and maybe takes down some mafia or does some kill job where the pay is great

  19. and he's NOT a villain? kind of hard to believe with the way you just described him

  20. cool and i thought people DESPISED the Green Lantern movie?

    ReplyDelete
  21. so 3 DC's, she sure loves that universe

    ReplyDelete
  22. Most people did, but it's the only DC movie I actually like.

  23. Deadpool is not a supervillain. He's not even a villain. Anti-hero, yes.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Nah, not a villain. What Dan said is true, but lately Deadpool's been mainly killing bad guys. People who definitely did something to deserve it. He tries to protect innocent people, even if they mostly end up traumatised for life, because the Bad Guy was just gruesomely killed right in front of them. So no, not a villain. A deeply flawed man, but ultimately with a good heart. Let's face it - the dude is sort of friends with Captain America, and Captain America is NOT friends with villains.

  25. Anti-hero! Basically means its OK to like him. And people love him!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes, perfect! I love Morena. Oh, this movie is shaping up to be a pretty neat one, at this rate I might end up loving it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ha, they sure do. I do. :D

    ReplyDelete
  28. yea that Cap. evidence is a pretty good one.

  29. they didn't like the story, if it was written out differently even Ryan could of done more with with.

  30. Is Deadpool's girlfriend human, normal? Don't know much about the character. I just hope she's super in some way. The "hero's girlfriend" is usually a boring non-character.

  31. huh well that convinced me LOL, i'll see it

    ReplyDelete
  32. oh so it wasn't the actor that stunk it was the story?

    ReplyDelete
  33. for many yes. but remember acting makes a difference for each people differently.
for me I'm there for the Story, and rarely the acting bothers me.

  34. Will this movie take place in the present or after Wolverine Origins in the past?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Do you know the timeline of this movie, past or present? I hope it's present day.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think neither lol

    ReplyDelete
  37. He's not really a hero or villain, he's Deadpool to put it best. He's as likely to shoot you for a job, as he is to make you go insane from talking, or stab you for taking the last Cheetos.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I didn't mind the Green Lantern movie.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Morena Baccarin was really a perfect actress for this role for the movie Deadpool. what year will released this movie? I hope I can watch this Marvel movie Deadpool.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Nice! I really like her. Bring it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. No idea. I am hoping for the present. What we can be pretty sure of is that it takes place in the DofP-created alternative timeline in which HOPEFULLY Wolverine: Origins never took place, so they never fucked Wade up.

  42. Curious who she'll play.... whether she's a new character or if she's pulled from certain points in the comics.... he hooked up with Domino for a while (which she might pull off), Siryn (nah, don't think so) and lately he's married to a psychotic vampire queen who transforms into a demon form (?).

They do say love interest and anyone with eyes can guess she's not playing Blind Al.... :-)

  43. So wanted Crystal Reed to get this role, it would have been awesome to see her in an X-Men film with a lead role):
