Looking - Looking for Results - Review: "People make mistakes"

Looking continued its second season last night with “Looking for Results”, which marked the boys' return to San Francisco after their wild weekend in the woods.
I very much enjoyed the boys in the woods having fun, but they needed to get back to the city. “Looking for Results” focused mainly on Patrick and Kevin’s relationship, since he finally broke the news to Dom and Agustin at Lynn’s last week. Still, Agustin and Dom had their little stories going on, and Doris finally got something to do without the boys ! I’m so delighted she can exist without them.

Patrick and Kevin spent a lot of time together in “Looking for Results” and it felt good to watch them just two, in the motel room, in the bus or in the streets. It really made their (hidden) relationship more real and more normal than just fucking in the woods or kissing at a wedding.
Mostly, Patrick and Kevin finally had opened up to each other, expressing their fears. Kevin first expressed it when Patrick told him Agustin and Dom (and Doris, Dom had to tell her, I totally understand) knew about the affair. Of course, Kevin didn’t like that, he’d want to keep his secret relationship secret… He doesn't want to be caught.
At the end of the episode, Kevin was particularly touching when he said he had migraines, because he was hiding his true feelings to everybody. It was cute, but man, you just need to dump your boyfriend, it’s not that hard to do and you'll feel better.

Patrick’s fears manifested in a funnier way : he had another AIDS crisis. Patrick has always been hypochondriac, I can totally relate to him for that. That was why it was so funny in a way to watch Patrick stressing over his rash, because we all have -or have a friend who has experimented this state. It's quite awful, it’s just irrational fear over something you can’t control. I loved how he freaked out about his rash and then the internet pictures…
After finally doing a test, Patrick was negative. What also made Patrick and Kevin’s relationship more real to me was watching Pat discussing it with his friends. And I very much enjoyed that scene. It was really perfect, I just missed Doris in it. Patrick’ speech was great, he knows what he’s doing, he doesn’t want Dom and Agustin to judge him, just to support him. Actually, that is exactly what friends are for. Kevin is Pat’s dirty little secret, it’s exciting. We’ve all been there at least once. It’s nice to have an exciting, special relationship. But, having an affair with his boss can be very dangerous… Well, even if technically Pat is not having an affair, only Kevin is. I like the way Pat thinks, seems logical to me too.

Agustin was back in the city, and so was his bad attitude. He was really mean and stupid last night. I’m so disappointed in him, I thought he had really changed, or perhaps it was just a moment of weakness. He really needs to find Eddie, I'm confident he will treat him right. I was disappointed Agustin didn’t see him, they were really great last week in the lake. Agustin needs people like Eddie in his life, someone new, because his friends are used to his attitude.
I really hated him at the bar when he was rude to Doris. Especially Doris. No one can attack my girl, she’s the best ! I was so happy when it turned out she was actually the one being checked out by that charming man. Lauren Weedman totally deserved to have her own storyline in the show. Since the pilot, she has brought so much relief and comic to the show. Can’t wait to see how her new relationship will evolve.
So, Agustin, was bad, especially after Doris’s comment on his lack of money and of job, so he went clubbing (?) looking for Eddie but decided to take GHB from Scotty (not sure how his name) instead. He's the one in the pilot, with who Agustin and Frank had a threesome with and it looked like he and Franck are together now… Poor Agustin, I can understand in a way how it touched him but there’s no excuse for ending up with a taco lying on the streets. He was so lucky Richie found him. Yay, Richie ! #TeamRichie

Richie is such a great guy. For a moment, I thought he would really leave Agustin like that in the streets. After everything that happened, and especially everything that Agustin did, I would have understood but Richie is a very human, very generous character. So, of course, he helped Agustin and brought him back to Patrick. Ow, I loved how they were reunited. Pat’s face when he saw it was Richie was priceless. Poor Pat, if he knew he would have put something else on.
Richie was nice to stay a bit with Patrick drinking tea. Sure, it was awkward, even more when Patrick asked if Richie was seeing anyone. God, who says that to his ex shortly after the breakup ? You’re so weird Patrick. Richie was playing it cool but clearly he was not comfortable there. Pat’s invitation to lunch was not appropriate either, way too soon. Patrick and Richie’s reunion was unexpected but so sweet and charming. Raul Castillo has that perfect smile on his face, it just makes me smile back.
I’m very fond of Patick and Richie’s relationship, I admit. Richie is more serious and to me, he feels more like someone who can be in a relationship with Patrick, who is always very stressed and sometimes unnatural with others. I really hope they will run into each other again soon.

And finally, Dom hadn’t a quiet comeback to the city either. First, he showed off the location of his future chicken restaurant and… It was creepy, looked quite insecure. The crazy homeless screaming isn’t the best way to attract people to your new restaurant.
And he has a lot of work to do inside to get it ready. It doesn’t even have a kitchen… I wonder what the hell Dom is thinking. I get it’s his dream, but he could wait for a better opportunity. But he seems confident with it, we'll see how it plays out.
And things at home were a little weird too. Dom was very cute and touching, talking about Patrick’s AIDS scare and how it could offend Lynn ; and still trying to know more about Lynn’s past relationship with Brian. But Lynn was interested in something else and quite directly told Dom. I was a bit shocked and surprised how he asked Dom. Poor Dom, he was unconfortable. I’d be too if I were him. But Lynn was right, it’s better to talk about it openly and discuss everything so there’s no ambiguity or jealousy between them. They’re in an open relationship, that also means they have to open to each other and talk and share. It’s not something Dom is comfortable with, but it’s so touching to watch him try.

Did you enjoy “Looking for Results” ? I’m sure both teams are happy with it ! Hit the comments !

Gay notes:

- Patrick lame excuse to Owen, his coworker to cover his time with Kevin. Waching a movie in the middle of a work day ?!?
- Hmmm booty dance :p I want more of that please
- Suddenly I realized I really miss Franck :(
- “Homeless people have twitter accounts” I couldn’t stop laughing when Pat said that…
-  “So, how’s the affair Patrick” Hilarious Doris.
-  Card games that was way to geeky for me

  1. No matter how much they force him down my throat, I can't like Kevin. Cheating, having affairs with subordinates, everything he does is just wrong, I can't stand him.
This episode also made me think of shipping Richie/Augustin, I think they'd be an interesting pair. Although I don't think they'd be a good match, I just don't want Richie back with Patrick. He deserves all the best and Patrick's just... not.

  2. There's a lot I loved about this episode. The Take That reference (I remember thinking WTF?!? when I first saw the video of Do What You Like) was priceless. The club scene with Agustin was very well done, and the music was amazing. And I loved the end titles song by the Pet Shop Boys. Just to name a few things.

  3. True, Looking's soundtrack is always so good.
The Take That reference made me smile but I've never been a fan of them, and actually I don't remember that song from them :/

  4. Well, Kevin is hot and he's not that bad. He's in complicated situation, but I agree, he's acting wrong with Pat and his bf.
Richie and Agustin would be a weird couple, I rellay don't picture them together. Agustin was just high. #TeamRichie all the way !! :)

  5. I'm TeamRichie too. Patric and Kevin are more alike and they bond easily over a lot of things, but... Kevin is just not there yet, to be honest, neither of them is. I think they have great potential, but also sooo much growing up to do before they could work well. Pat and Kev are both fairly egocentric, unsure of many things about themselves while too confident about other, Kevin wanting to have it all and still having control over his life, but at the same time wanting to loose a lttle bit of this control too, Patric on the other hand being like overexited puppy without any real direction whatsoever. Good thing he has his friends to ground him.
It's hopeful that Kevin recognizes that he's being unfair to Patric and his bf, but he continues to do exacty that regardless.
    This relationship smells of disaster.

Richie is more mature, less self-centered and seems to have less issues with himself and his emotions. I feel like being with him Patric could actually go trough some character and reletionship development. But right now I hope for Richie's sake, that he stays clear from Pat and lets him heave his high and then the inevitable ( I think) hard landing with Kevin.

  6. I definitely enjoyed this episode more than last weeks. I do think that Patrick and Kevin are nice together, but mainly on a superficial level, whereas Richie had less in common with Patrick, but their relationship had more substance and depth. Also, the fact that Kevin has been cheating regularly on his boyfriend and doesn't seem to be making any kind of move to break up with his boyfriend is also a bad sign. Personally, I don't think that Patrick deserves Richie...I actually wish that Richie had more of a lead roll, so he could get a story that didn't necessarily revolve around Patrick.

  7. I agree with you, Pat and Richie have shared more as a couple than Pat and Kevin. Kevin is exciting for Patrick, he's hot, he's different, he's having a secret relationship. I can understand Patrick experimenting new things. Richie is more the right guy to settle down with. I still hope there's a chance for them to be together. I don't really see Richie becoming a lead roll, after all the show is about Pat, Agustin and Dom, but I'm looking forward more scenes of Richie without Pat... Maybe with Agustin :)

  8. I loved the episode, I'm just not a fan of Kevin. It felt like they were trying to push him and Patrick on us.

Doris, "How's the affair going?" <<< I laughed so hard, I think I woke some people up.

Can I have Richie? He's so cute.
