Grimm - Wesenrein - Review

19 Jan 2015

Grimm returns and the hunt for Monroe beings. In this episode, as the title suggests, we get to know the Wesenrein who took our beloved friend.
Nick and Hank visit Wu and let him out of prison to introduce him into the Grimm world. They bring him to a place where he’s sure to find the answers he’s looking for - Nick's roulette where he's previously found his book. Wu's kinda excited, you can see it, but also scared to know the truth. The good thing is that Wu doesn't run: like what he's always wanted to do was being part of the Team Grimm. Also, Renard is worried Wu may find out about his Wesen's identity too, but the scene is so awkward and funny as the sergent asks to his boss if he's one of "them".

Elsewhere, Juliette is still screaming because of the Hexenbeist's face she saw in the mirror. What happened to her? She struggles as she tries to come to grips with her new reality. I can really feel her pain. It must be not funny to look in a mirror and see that horrible face.
Another woman feels pain. As Rosalee goes inside her house, she soon realizes that someone took Monroe - a group of masked guys who circle him and yell "Impuro!" Her poor husband is taking to an unknown place where he discovers he's just another man being stuck and processed for his crimes. Those you won't ever find peace?

A desperate Rosalee is taking to Nick's house where Juliette tries to comfort her, while Nick and Hank find out a guy named Shaw who may know something about Monroe's kidnapping. During the interrogation, the newly reborn Grimm can't control himself as he tries to make Shaw confesses, and at least his efforts are worth: he knows something about the Wesenrein, an insane group made to clean the world up from the "impuros."

Meanwhile, Rosalee can't calm down. She wants Nick to act like a Grimm not like a cop, and hunt those Wesens who have his husband. The fact is Rosalee is yelling too much that Juliette can't take it anymore, and she goes Woge and reveals her Hexenbeist's face; they fight and Juliette kills Rosalee... but wait. It was just a terrible nightmare. She's waken up by a worried Rosalee. Poor Juliette... but I'm perfect fine with the authors who decided to give her a better storyline. Now I really wonder what will happen when Nick will learn about his girlfriend's transformation!

Elsewhere, Monroe manages to escape only to find himself being trapped again. Nick, Hank and Wu need to move faster: the Wesenrein are about to process and kill Monroe for having married Rosalee!
Finally, Viktor tells Adalind it's time to come back to Portland, but she won't be alone - he's coming too. I guess Nick won't be the only one surprised as much as Adalind will see he's a Grimm again, despite her spell to take his power away.
Things are getting crazy in Grimm!
On the other side, things do not go well for Monroe.

Will Nick & co. save him in time? Remember to comment the episode with the hashtag #FreeMonroe on Twitter.

  1. I thought this was a terrific episode, very well done. It kept me at the edge of my seat. How terrible that they killed poor Terry! Also interesting was that brief peek at Adalind, interesting because when she was alarmed she woged into full Hexenbiest. That tells me that Adalind's Wesen power did not transfer to Juliette, as I supposed, but that Juliette is now a Hexenbiest on her own. I can't wait to see Adalind in Portland and up against Juliette. Turnabout is fair play!

  2. And did we see Nick go Zombie coloured for that second in the interrogation room?! I'm glad they at least didn't completely do away with that odd storyline.

  3. Thanks, Diana. This episode had a lot of the elements that make it so much fun and promises even more amazing moments to come - more Wu reactions, Adalind/Juliette, ViKtor/Renard, more awesome Griimmness from Nick,etc. But FIRST, we have to save Monroe !

  6. Interesting point. What if Adalind is human now and Juliette is a Hexenbeist?

  7. Interesting about Adalind, didn't think about the possibility of her losing her powers, but I guess it's not happening. Probably didn't think of that cause I couldn't care less or her and just wait for the second she'll die horribly^^;
