January 11, 2015 (Pasadena, CA) – The CW announced its midseason schedule today at the winter gathering of the Television Critics Association in Pasadena, CA, including the series premieres of new dramas iZOMBIE and THE MESSENGERS, the new unscripted competition series CEDRIC’S BARBER BATTLE and a new cycle of WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY?.
From executive producer Rob Thomas (“Veronica Mars”), iZOMBIE makes its series debut on Tuesday, March 17, (9:00-10:00pm ET), following an all-new episode of THE FLASH (8:00-9:00pm ET). Rose McIver (“Masters of Sex,” “Once Upon A Time”) stars as Olivia “Liv” Moore, a rosy-cheeked, disciplined, over-achieving medical resident who had her life path completely mapped out… until the night she attended a party that unexpectedly turned into a zombie feeding frenzy. As one of the newly undead, Liv has devised a way to resist her baser urges to devour fresh human brains – she’s taken a job in the Seattle coroner’s office. In this appropriately dead-end job, she can secretly snack on the brains of the many Jane and John Doe corpses that make a final stop in the morgue. Liv remains resigned to an eternity without hope or purpose, until she realizes that with every brain she consumes, she retains a portion of that person’s memories, and she begins to experience visions from the point of view of the murder victims. It’s not the same as being alive again, but at least she can find purpose in her undead existence by helping to solve the murders of those who are indeed fully dead.
With iZOMBIE on Tuesdays, the Winchester brothers move to their new night as Supernatural returns to Wednesdays, beginning March 18, 9:00-10:00pm ET, the week after THE 100 concludes its second season on Wednesday, March 11, 9:00-10:00pm ET.
On Friday, April 10, The CW presents the series premiere of its apocalyptic new drama THE MESSENGERS (9:00-10:00pm ET). When a mysterious object plummets to Earth, the blinding explosion it causes sends out a shock wave that instantly connects five strangers who awaken after the pulse with extraordinary gifts they can barely believe. Most mysterious of all is a figure known only as The Man, who brings death and suffering wherever he appears. The wheels of Revelation have begun to turn, and these five newly christened Angels of the Apocalypse may be the only hope for preventing the impending Rapture.
That same night, The CW will debut its new reality competition series CEDRIC’S BARBER BATTLE (8:00-8:30pm ET), hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, followed by a brand new season of the hit improv comedy series WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? (8:30-9:00pm ET). The new series CEDRIC’S BARBER BATTLE sets out to capture the culture that exists in barbering communities across the country. Each week, the show will visit different barbershops in cities, including Los Angeles, Queens, Harlem and Austin, where the best barbers will go head-to-head in a hilariously unfiltered, no-holds-barred arena. Creating hair sculptures that feature elaborate designs ranging from images of a person’s face to grand cityscapes, the barbers will use nothing more than their clippers and a few coloring tools to create intricate works of art that are both imaginative and location-centric.
Following is The CW’s midseason premiere schedule:

No I feel good for izombie but bad for the messengers!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat for iZombie
ReplyDeleteBut poor TM, it is pretty much dead already
Oh thank God SPN's moving away from SHIELD (but SHIELD needs a new night next season to get it away from the NCISes). Poor Messengers premiering in the Friday night death slot, though.
ReplyDeleteI hope that Supernatural's ratings don't crash after the move, but I always thought that the Arrow/Supernatural pairing worked well. Not happy about Friday debut for The Messengers though.
ReplyDeleteFinally it's here!Thank God!
ReplyDeleteThe Messengers is doomed on Friday.
ReplyDeleteI was all for getting iZombie the post-Flash slot, but why did they have to screw over The Messengers.
Thiis would have been better , IMO
Reign to Fridays
Supernatural to Thursdays
iZombie on Tuesdays
The Messengers on Wednesdays
I certainly did not.
ReplyDeleteJane and Reign seem to have better renewal chances now ... if they would want to cancel them, they would change time slot with The Messengers ... also with TM/BatB both CBS shows getting cancelled, they could keep the other 2 CBS around - Jane/Reign (TM could surprise us of course, but it will be hard with that time slot)
ReplyDeleteI was looking forward to The Messengers but since The 100 is competing with it (and iZombie but I've no interest in that) I won't watch it unless both are renewed :P Real shame it's on Friday though what's with that? I was sure it would take The 100's spot when it finishes
ReplyDeletePoor The messengers, clearly Cw doesn't have any confidence in this show. It's going to be DOA.Great for iZombie though!
ReplyDeleteAnother move for SPN,well AoS was hurting it a bit & if anyone can survive a random move mid-season on CW,it's SPN.It's rock solid as far as the ratings are concerned,i wouldn't worry about them one bit!
WAIT WHAT???????????
ReplyDeleteMaybe we will finally get some trailers now??
ReplyDeleteLook at it this way: At least SPN wasn't sent back to the Friday night death slot (but poor Messengers).
ReplyDeleteI sure hope so!
ReplyDeleteITA.I knew when Jane got the GG nom(& if it wins), it wouldn't be moved to fri and I agree that Jane & Reign will be the CBS shows that survive this season..I am a bit suprised Reign didn't move to Fri but VD no help as a leadin anymore so it makes sense it stayed and I've belived Reign Reign would stay put at first because Czw didn't premire Jane or IZombie after VD in fall when VD would be better ratings wise.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be too worried about Supernatural. If the show's proved anything over the last couple years, it's that its fans will watch the show no matter where it lands on the schedule.
ReplyDeleteWait so the schedule will be
ReplyDeleteMon TO Jane
Tues Flash IZombie
We'd Arrow SPN
Thurs VD Reign
Fri HoD./ Messengers?
What are they thinking premiring Messengers on Fri? dOA for sure.Im glad Reigns not moving to Fri though
Updated with press release. Refresh to check the full schedule.
ReplyDeleteHOD will finish it's 10 ep run by April 10th.
ReplyDeleteNice killing of The Messengers, CW. Even if I didn't like the pilot, that's just harsh on the show to premiere it there.
ReplyDeleteYeah,it'll finish by March 20 if they don't take any breaks.I only out that there cause I wasn't sure what would be paired with Messengers
ReplyDeleteJust circled March 17th in the old calendar. Can't wait for "iZombie".
ReplyDeleteYay yay yay iZombie! So deserves a great timeslot. Do me proud!
ReplyDeleteThere's no other night for SHIELD to move, though. It'd get clobbered on Sundays (why put your most male-skewing show against football?), there's no room on Tuesdays, it's not a 10:00 show so Wednesdays are out, Thursdays are full, and Fridays would cause too much of a ratings hit.
ReplyDeleteThey figured Messengers was going to crash and burn. And judging from that pilot, I don't blame them for thinking so.
ReplyDeleteRefresh the page. They revealed that Cedric show and Whose the line will be the Messengers lead in and premier the same day.
ReplyDeletePlus with Scandal and Blacklist coming, they'd rather have a known quantity vs. risking a more successful show or putting something new behind Vampire Diaries.
ReplyDeleteyeah I saw that
ReplyDeleteAfter this schedule, my cancellation predictions :
ReplyDeleteHoD
BatB
The Messengers
4th one will be hard, since Jane/Reign could be safe as last CBS shows ... i am afraid for The 100
The Messengers finished shooting before new year, so they most likely saw the whole season before making a decision.
ReplyDelete2 CBS, 2 Warner, sorry The 100 fans, it doesn't look good.
ReplyDeleteexactly, putting a new female sjpkewing IZombie against Scadal/Blacklst, the new show would get clobbered
ReplyDeleteTerrible schedule.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural move - to the wrong day, should've moved to thursdays
iZombie after Flash - I would have done that too.
The Messengers - well, they had a free timeslot, decided to put supernatural there, so...
Not a single mention of BATB? That's a first.
ReplyDeleteThis was my scheedule, too.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me so angry. I hope Reign does multiple 0.3 in the spring.
ReplyDeleteExactly
ReplyDeleteThe Messengers was a horrible, incomprehensible pilot that *might've* only got sampled for its first episode. (And that's assuming The CW gives a damn about it, which it obviously doesn't given the scheduling and the fact that only one episode was sent for review.) I'll cackle when it becomes this season's Cult.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that iZombie will get the post Flash spot but why the hell did CW dump The Messengers to Friday?! Ugh, this makes absolutely no sense.
ReplyDeleteThe Messengers is already dead :(
ReplyDeleteIt was not horrible at all.
ReplyDeleteReally bad schedule. Obviously they have no faith in the messengers. I guess reign is dead which may be good news for the 100 :)
ReplyDeleteReign is not dead, if it was it would be sent to Friday
ReplyDeleteExactly the opposite is happening, Reign's chances just went much higher than before
They did all this to protect Reign.
ReplyDeleteWow, CW never fail to surprise. So they move SPN (as expected) after 2nd best lead in (not expected at all). Why? Just because the spot becomes free? If they wanted to make minimal changes SPN had a choice of Fridays and Wednesdays. I guess CW have more faith in old SPN then new Messengers. RIP Messengers.
ReplyDeleteI hope iZombie will be another hit for CW, and lets see how Flash will help.
Reign is not dead.Reign,Jane will both Likley be renewed and be the only CBD shows that survive.Reigns halfway to syndication and cheap to produce and doing better ratings in season two than BatB did.BatB,Messengers will be cancelled along with HoD and either IZombie to The 100 as the two last WB shows. The fact Reign stayed put is a vote of confidence for it by CW rather than it being moved to Fri,
ReplyDeleteHow many times will they keep moving SuperNatural? Wednesdays, then Fridays then Tuesdays then back to Wednesdays.
ReplyDeleteI'm not watching any of those other shows. Just TO, Reign, SuperNatural, TVD, The Flash, Arrow, and The 100 for me. I was going to give Messengers a try but now that its Fridays, not a chance.
Come on Babar! U're better than that. Reign fought hard for it's slot.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably way to optimistic but The Messengers could survives this. I mean Fridays are tricky but maybe they surprise us and survive cause there isn't huge competition. The only thing I would wish for the show but is unlikely to happen is that it gets a post Flash premier. That iZombie goes on a break and The Messengers get a chance.
He is obviously trolling! He is commenting every TM post, telling how bad it is. Shouldn't even pay attention.
ReplyDeleteNo way that happens. The Messengers is this season's sacrificial lamb, which is weird since it is produced by CBS.
ReplyDeleteCan I ask a question, having not seen the pilot? Where did all this pre-buzz for "The Messengers" come from? Is the pilot that good? The cast? The creative team?
ReplyDeleteIt will go against Grimm (if I remember correctly Grimm moves to 9pm midseason). That's not good for TM at all.
ReplyDeleteI think it a really different show compared to everything that has been airing on CW lately.
ReplyDeleteIf they promote iZombie very good, with this time slot it could be a huge hit for CW, i think it could be getting those 1.0 ratings
ReplyDeleteIt gets the same buzz as The 100 did: both are different from the usual CW show.
ReplyDeleteThe 100 is competing with Midseason shows especially mainly IZombie which is WB not CBS s Reign
ReplyDeleteProbably just like Star-Crossed last season, but hope dies last! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how this indicates Reign as being dead? Seems to me they would rather make minimal changes to the two lower rated shows Monday and Thursday in order to try and ensure that ratings arent affected. Basically they're protecting Reign and JTV. BTW I think T100 will also be renewed. iZombie is likely to be renewed with a huge lead in like The Flash but the Messengers is DOA.
ReplyDelete...yeah, but "The 100" has actually been airing, "The Messengers" hasn't even premiered yet.
ReplyDeleteRightly so, its a good show.
ReplyDeleteReally? It doesn't sound that different. Supernatural themes, serialized premise, pretty young people, etc.
ReplyDeleteI meant pre-airing, The 100 had a great amount of buzz as well.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they'll be able to renew all of Reign,Jane,The 100 ,IZombie in addition to VD,SPN,Arrow,Flash and only cancel Messengers,BatB,HoD
ReplyDeleteGuess they dont have any faith in the show, so they stick it in a death slot, also they want it to fail so they can keep other shows already on the schedule which they like and are closer to syndication. Makes sense to me.
ReplyDeleteWell its 9pm, and against Shield. So I would be so optimistic. It may get 1s for the pilot and then I expect 0.7ish.
ReplyDeleteReal mature.
ReplyDeletesheilds not a big hit now and it's more male skewing while IZombie is female skewing
ReplyDeleteWow, CW just kills The Messengers. I have the pilot but haven't gotten around to watching it yet. I don't want to root for though, because I need The 100 to be renewed!!
ReplyDeleteGrimm is hitting demos around 1,3-1,4. Don't see that as a big threat. Yes it's the same genre but doesn't have to mean much.
ReplyDeleteNothing was going to do well in that post TVD slot, and look what Reign will be up against Scandal, Blacklist, Mom, TAAM. Reign has been kept in one of the toughest slots of the schedule not just to protect it but because nothing else was going to make it there anyway.
ReplyDeleteBut then why order it to series in the first place if you're just going to treat it badly?
ReplyDeleteAs far as moves go moving SPN to Monday or Thursday would have been much worse!
ReplyDeleteSo much for the mantra "The CW will never premiere a new (scripted) series on Friday Like you said, The CW must have no confidence in TM. I read here and elsewhere that the Pilot for TM was almost completely revamped. Personally, if The CW felt the TM script was so problematic I would have picked up 9.20 Bloodlines ... (the SPN spinoff); with only minimal tweaking I think that Bloodlines could have gone to series. It got a 1.0 in demo - better than episodes on either side.
he's always had it out for Reign though
ReplyDeleteThis is what I don't get, they did the exact same thing last year with Star-Crossed. What about the cast? The crew? Why bother with a show if you are going to kill it before it even airs?
ReplyDeleteEnough to chop off 0.2-0.3 out of low rated CW's Fridays and make it even lower rated.
ReplyDeleteExactly! You're wasting all of these people's time. So angry right now.
ReplyDeleteReign and JTV are CBS thought oo right, maybe it would be better for CW to keep them and get them to syndication rather than keep trying these CBS shows that dont do well. This way they wont have to worry about having to pick up more CBS produced shows for a while?
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see how things will develop when Blacklist moves into the slot. Will be a tough battle. But Reign has a solid fanbase.
ReplyDeleteI hoped the who wouldn't be moved to Fridays and I'm glad for it. Sad for TM. In my prayers I hoped Jane would be moved to Fridays, Reign to Mondays and TM or iZombie would get the post VD slot. But CW kicked but and surprised us all.
I'm so disappointed. But the reality is, come spring reign will probably garner more .3's.
ReplyDeleteAnd then if it does get renewed it'll probably be for a 13 episode season 3 for Friday's or summer of next season. BATB 2.0. So really they are giving reign their pity and who really wants pity?! Maybe the messengers becomes a solid Friday option lol.
I have read quite a few comments claiming The Messengers pilot to be rather poor.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they aren't happy how the show played out by season ends and it got to expensive to produce. I still hope some "angelic" Miracle will happen and TM will kick but.
ReplyDeletesummer? That will increase its chances of a further renewal for the following summer and give hope to a few other low rated shows I suppose of not just being out right cancelled esp if they have more than one season under their belt?
ReplyDeleteI doubr they'd share an audience.
ReplyDeleteYes, I feel you. I was angry when this happened last year and now I'm just beyond furious. I won't be following any new CW shows again - too infuriating to see something with such potential thrown in the trash.
ReplyDeletei already see 2 new photos from iZombie on twitter and they look amazing
ReplyDeleteSome people tell its really good others its not that good. But that is always personal perception.
ReplyDeletePeople/Reviews trashed Reigns pilot but it was more than solid to me.
I love The CW, but really? I can't believe this.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the move of Supernatural, since it has its own fanbase and The Flash could help iZombie in a great way. But why wasn't Supernatural moved to Monday?
Unfortunately, looks like The Messengers could be the Star-Crossed of this season.
Poor The Messengers. I feel sorry for the gorgeous Shantel VanSanten.
I wish The Messengers ended surprising us all, but I know it will be really hard.
I would have done this schedule:
Mondays
8 pm The Originals
9 pm Supernatural
Tuesdays
8 pm The Flash
9 pm iZombie
Wednesdays
8 pm Arrow
9 pmThe Messengers
Thursday
8 pm The Vampire Diaries
9 pm Reign (or Jane the Virgin) - Even though I like the first and I'm very interested in the second, I think The Messengers deserved/deserve a good chance, with Arrow as lead-in.
Friday
8 pm Cedric's Barber Battle
8:30 pm Whose Line Is It Anyway
9 pm Reign (or Jane the Virgin) - When Hart of Dixie's fourth season is over -
I take it back. I have no idea how to interpret mid season schedules :D
ReplyDeleteI knew when Jane got the GG nom despite not great ratings,it wouldn't move to Fri.I hoped too Reign wouldn't move to Fri and part thought it wouldnt
ReplyDeleteYes. This is the schedule I was expecting. CW .. nope - I can't even form a decent response that doesn't include some not so nice language.
ReplyDeleteWasnt CULT on Fridays and it flop really hard?. Why did they do this to The Messengers? i have my hopes for that show. I have no interest in IZombie and Im rooting for The Messenger but on Friday? they are pratically fedding it to the bear
ReplyDeleteI don't think "Jane The Virgin" was ever moving. With all the critical acclaim, they want to keep it where it is so more people can find it.
ReplyDeleteCult premired on Tues after HoD and was only on Fri after three weeks of Tues after premiring to 0.3
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame, The Messengers looked really good. Why on earth did they put Supernatural on a Wednesday should have put the Messengers there.
ReplyDeleteOr TM chops of a 0,2-0,3 from Grimm as it gets "boring". Just joking ratings are pretty unpredictable so maybe we'll get surprised.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I thougth it was a friday show D: I only saw it that day
ReplyDeleteWasn't "Cult" also...not good?
ReplyDeleteThey'll continue to pick up CBS shows even as they try to get Reign & maybe Jane to syndication.
ReplyDeletehow do you think spn on wednesday?
ReplyDeleteI thought it was good.
ReplyDeleteI guess CW has more faith in SPN then TM. Poor SPN in everybody's way. It already got an award of most bounced around show in TV history. I bet it will be moved again next year 9if renewed).
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch but the promos it didn't look good to me
ReplyDeleteHUGE SHAME! Really can't wait what Pedowitz will say about this at his press!
ReplyDeleteTrailer looks so amazing
ReplyDeleteCult was quite good by the end. CW just promoted it in a wrong, they made it about a TV show and it's followers and by the end it turned out to be about how Tv manipulates with people. It was surprisingly refreshing.
ReplyDeleteI started watching it cause of Matt Davis but it turned out to be quite interesting.
I absolutely have no problem seeing Supernatural return to Wednesdays. Weren't they better off on Wednesdays anyways?
ReplyDeleteBecause they felt SPN would have better ratings /retention out of Arrow than Messengers/IZombie and that combo did very well a couple seasons ago
ReplyDeleteiZombie not doing 1,0 would be quite terrible for the show. I mean SPN in it's 10th season is doing 0,9 mostly. But with ratings you can never know.
ReplyDeleteSpn will beat arrow
ReplyDeletewell expect Arrow,Fladh I don't think any new shows on CW have done 1.0s in a few seasons especially consistently even more so in spring
ReplyDeleteWow, I guess The CW really don't believe in The Messengers.. A Friday debut.. Even Cult got to premiere during mid-week.. And I suppose they officially made B&tB a summer show.
ReplyDeleteGrimm has been at 9 pm for the last few years; it's Constantine that's moving to 8pm.
ReplyDeleteit's gonna be fun to watch the results the next day tho Scandal has better ratings than The Blacklist maybe TB will steal some of those viewrs. I can only iagine some of the TVbyTheNumbers comments that sre annoying as hells bashing any show except Scandal D:
ReplyDeleteTVD is not longer goo to lauch a new show and less with all the competition they have on that day.
Poor Messengers, starting on Fridays :/. The only good thing about it is that The 100 will have better chances at renewal.
ReplyDeleteIzombie will be a hit after Flash; it ha the best CW lead plus the DC brand
Maybe, but a show that has been going for countless seasons shouldn't really need lead in support, a new show does.
ReplyDeleteI expect it to get moved to Mondays next season
ReplyDeleteMaybe by some miracle it will do ok on Fridays, but I am not holding my breath.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they didn't like the next episodes shot after the pilot..
ReplyDeleteThat rue but the new shows after Arrow -The 100-haven't done nearly as well as SPN and that's the point of moving shows-hoping the new show does better than what was in the timeslot before
ReplyDeleteSame here. I feel bad for the show, but I want to see The 100 renewed so I won't be rootin for it
ReplyDeleteif IXmbies a hit,The 100s a goner-both WB.The 100 wasn't competing angsinst CBS shows-Reign,Jane,Messengers-but fellow WB ones
ReplyDeleteWith "iZombie", they seem to be playing up more of the "From the brains (heh) behind VM" angle than the DC Comics angle. Which is probably for the best since it's supposed to very very different from the comic.
ReplyDeleteI hope Mark Pedowitz says this (during the press): "We fooled you/We've been hacked, that is not the real midseason schedule."
ReplyDeleteActually it was Tuesdays-Thursdays-Fridays-Wednesdays-Tuesdays and now Wednesdays again. SPN only needs to air on Monday and it will have aired every day of the week
ReplyDeleteThat's true Supernatural will retain a lot more of Arrow's audience than The 100 has done.
ReplyDeleteThey obviously have no faith in the messengers... Great news for all the other shows so now all we have to see is how iZombie does
ReplyDeleteSo now it's HoD,BatB ,Messngers will be cancelled,IZombie vs The 100 for the last renewal, and everything renewed
ReplyDeleteWow The Messengers is DoA...I actually thought the preview I saw looked interesting. I am more interested in this show then izombie.
ReplyDeleteI'm good with SPN moving back to Sunday, Flash can totally stand on it's own and SPN isn't lead in dependant. Besides it gets SPN away from Agents of Shield, which is a good thing.
Cw likes to surprise us, so I wouldn't be sure about that.
ReplyDeleteSunday? That's definitely a new night for SPN
ReplyDeleteI am-Reign is Batzb 2.0(halfway to syndication, cheap international co production and will be renewed for at least a short third final season-maybe more just depending on pilots,it's spring ratings, how many bubble shows renewed-),TO is improving Mon nights and dong ok for CW standards,VD is still doing deccent for CW and will get a preannounced final season.Jane is CzbS,,cheap to produce and has a PCA win plus a GG nom and great Retrntion it'll be renewed.Flash,Arrow,SPN are hits and will be renewed.Caw supports Reign,Jane and has said more than once they don't want all genre shows anymore do Reign,Jane
ReplyDeleteI agree, despite the loyal fanbase, moving Supernatural to monday or thursday could have been risky, but I think that if there is Cw series that can do well in the 9 pm slot of monday or thursday, it's called Supernatural. In my dream schedule, moving it to monday would have given to The Messengers the chance of being Arrow's lead out.
ReplyDeleteNo doubts. Or Fridays, if it would be the last season.
ReplyDeleteThen they should man up and cancel it like other networks do.
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for the Messengers. No show deserves to die before it's time.
ReplyDeleteOn the other, much more selfish hand, part of me that's really happy because if the CW has no confidence in this show, it means that my own bubble shows are one step closer to being renewed. Sorry, The Messengers, but if saves The 100 and Jane the Virgin, well. And since iZombie was the show of the two newbies I was most interested in seeing, I'm kinda glad that this is the show getting the death slot.
seems like my prediction abt the messengers was right. fri slot can be tricky but it cant be much worse than mon slot to be honest.
ReplyDeleteWow, why does The Messengers even premiere if that's the trust they give it. Wouldn't it be hilarious if it actually thrived on Fridays a la Grimm/Blue Bloods?
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of Beauty and The Beast and like many other, I really didn't expect to be renewed, yet it was. I can understand why many people think The Messengers is already dead, but there are series that survive despite being aired on fridays. It's very hard, but not impossible.
ReplyDeleteBeauty and The Beast has won multiple people's choice awards. I thought you said they don't matter, when it comes to renewals.
Indeed Jane the Virgin did something great for The Cw, by being the first ever Cw series to bring Golden Globe nominations. I hope Jane the Virgin and Gina Rodriguez win, but even being just nominated meant and mean a lot.
We'll see what happens :)
As a SPN fan I kind of very interested in what iZombie can deliver in that timeslot. I wish it does well, but I wouldn't be surprised if it stays 0.7ish after few first episodes. Spring is not very merciful for CW, all frontrunners were doing 0.7-0.8 last year. I hope TF will help, but I still think the lead-in concept is overrated for CW.
ReplyDeletei m positive someone will ask when mark does that q and a anytime now.
ReplyDeleteI bet this s a record for any TV show.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for this to unfold ^_^ Think this season will be interesting.
ReplyDeletePCas really don't matter but CW hasn't cancelled a show-especially a new show-that won( Reign,BatB).CW had never premired a new scripted show on Fri and Fri is a hard low rated night for shows especially new shows and more so for CW which skews young and targets young Viewrs that aren't home onFri night to watch tv.CBS Fri do ok cause they attract an older sudience.Grimm is the exception.
ReplyDeleteOh, OK, thanks! Yes, it was at 10, right? My bad.
ReplyDeleteI m shocked Messengers got a Fri slot tbh
ReplyDeleteI'm optimistic! This was the show I looked most forward to when CW announced its line up, and I was so angry it got shifted to MS.
ReplyDeleteFriday is an interesting day, rating and schedule ways. But who knows if TM gets promoted well it could surprise us.
I hope The Messenger will be another exception :) Cw needs to promote it a lot.
ReplyDeleteProbably like it did before on Wednesday. Tuesday at 9 is tad bit more competive. Especially with AoS. Because there is definitely some crossover in fans.
ReplyDeleteBut with such a strong lead, Veronica Mars creator buzz and DC connection this show should get some good ratings. Initially the show should hit around 1,0s. but drop later along.
ReplyDeleteI agree it'll do well
ReplyDeleteI don't think will. All thier egs are in Fladh,Jane,IZombies basket .sorry.
ReplyDeleteThe most interesting thing is that there is nothing about Beauty and the Beast. That means they may put it in the summer TV season. So why didn't they kept The Messenger to be along with BATB in stead of putting it on Friday.
ReplyDeleteBecause 1.BatB is cheap to produce,Messengers isn't isn't and except UTD,Extent summer is for cheap shows 2.BatB is just burning off its three season internally commitment,Messengers isn't .3.BatB isn't new,Messengers is.4.Scrpited show tant in summer for CW so would Messngers.
ReplyDelete5.Caw needed to fill the Fri slot
It could, we're all making the assumption that it will be DOA based on the Friday time slot but if there is enough interest in the show maybe people will watch it even if it is on Friday?
ReplyDeletedoesnt really matter, both rate well
ReplyDeleteIt was not not good. It was painful to watch.
ReplyDeleteThat's really not a fair comparison.
ReplyDeletei am seeing tweets that CW renewed everything, is it true?
ReplyDeleteAoS averages around a 1.6/1.7? Theres the FOX comedies which struggle in the 1.5 and 1.0 range. The NBC comedies which are around the 1.0 mark and NCIS:NO which is around the 2.3/2.4 mark.
ReplyDeleteWednesday 9pm will now have
Modern Family around 3.0
Blackish around 2.3
FOX's new Empire which is likely to stay above the 3.0 mark barring any disasters.
SVU around the 1.6/1.7 mark.
AoS was really the only competition for SPN and there might have been a bit of crossover though if there was SPN's ratings havent really been affected. Not sure how the more young audience competing shows on Wednesday will affect the show but there shouldnt be much crossover. SPN is in no danger anyway. It will end when Jensen wants it to end.
So, The 100, TM and iZombie are WB shows and everything else is CBS?
ReplyDeletebecause SPN doesnt deserve to be dumped on Friday?
ReplyDeleteArgh poor The Messengers. Midseason shows look so much better than fall shows and now one of put in death spot and already predicted to get cancelled. I'm really disappointed.
ReplyDeleteA perverse part of me hopes TM thrives on Fridays and iZombie tanks BIG ;) against SHIELD.
ReplyDeleteNothing to do with SPN's being moved to Wednesday post Arrow - like I said SPN could have been moved to a 'worse slot' (Monday/Thursday/Friday). I don't know enough about either show yet to form an opinion on either new show except that I want S3 of The 100 - that's the bubble show I'm most invested in.
This really tells me that CW though they picked up The Messengers probably only did so as a back up if something went terribly wrong. They end up not needing the show so send it to Friday instead of moving a show they actually do like/have faith in/want to keep on the schedule next season.
ReplyDeleteIt probably only needs to do 0.5 or better on Friday to get another season depending on how expensive it is
ReplyDeleteThe 100 has been renewed :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna guess at Monday but who knows.
ReplyDeleteOf course it isn't. SPN has an amazing fan base but you always expect much from a fresh show. And it doing poorly comparing to a show in it's 11th season would be tough.
ReplyDeleteIt was terrible. It was one of those shows that people on here and other sites kept harping on about how excited they were for it and how come it couldnt air earlier in the end when it did arrive it flopped hard.
ReplyDeleteBut that would mean moving JTV or Reign to Friday and the CW clearly doesnt want either of those shows to be treated like shit since they want to keep them for various reasons. Neither Reign nor JTV have strong enough fan bases to survive a move esp not to Friday.
ReplyDeleteproof?
ReplyDeleteWow, Cw has made renewals already. It renewed The Flash, Arrow, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals The 100, Jane the Virgin and Reign :) I'm so happy for them.
ReplyDeleteSo, iZombie and The Messengers will be against each other for a renewal? :(
True, and now they have renewed 8 shows it's probably between this and iZombie for a renewal.
ReplyDeleteIt is all over twitter, CW renewed all ! of its Fall shows, also Reign! Arrrow, SN, TO and TDV were a given anyway!
ReplyDeleteI think everyone expected it to go after Arrow, I did in no way see them premiering a new show on a Friday. I mean even cult had a premiere during the week...
ReplyDelete@Brandy Danforth Weren't you pretty confident about The 100 being cancelled? like I told you, Cw likes to surprises us. Besides the big 4 of the network (The Flash, Arrow, Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries), It renewed The Originals and also The 100, Reign and Jane the Virgin :)
ReplyDeleteEither SPN or Bones, both of them have been bounced back everywhere
ReplyDeleteThink 0,5 would be a good starting point, think it's more important not to drop from that point be constant.
ReplyDeleteAnd if it gets renewed for another season think it'll be more for summer season. I read a tweet that CW is preparing a big line up for summer 2016.
I really can't wait not more for Supernatural!!!!!! And congrats for the 11 season :D
ReplyDeleteI am ok with SPN on Wednesday's. Good luck to iZombie following The Flash.
ReplyDeleteFrom twitter:
ReplyDelete#TheMessengers producers respond to comments the pilot is hard to understand: 2nd ep provides more clarity.
Of course CW chose not to show second episode at TCA.
TVD & TO?
ReplyDeleteActually wouldn't have cared if Supernatural moves to Fridays. The show did well enough to survive there back in season 7. If it got Season 7's ratings again it would be considered good for the CW.
ReplyDeleteConstantine is going to 8pm and also by the time TM airs Constantine will be done its season.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice if SHIELD got back some viewers.
ReplyDeleteWhy? I mean Supernatural after Arrow? Two strong shows together? What are they trying to prove exactly? -_-
ReplyDeleteStrong shows should anchor the night.
Supernatural on Mondays (then iZombie/The Messengers)
The Flash on Tuesdays (Then iZombie/The Messengers)
Arrow on Wednesdays (then The 100)
TVD on Thursdays (Then The Originals)
And I would've put Reign on Fridays at 9.
Every pilot should have a fair chance.
Yup! Now I can watch SHIELD live and record iZombie if the first episodes hook me.
ReplyDeleteSame here, I have been looking forward to this for a while now. I just hope they promote the hell out of it, although judging by the show getting barely any coverage by journalists at the TCA makes me think they wont.
ReplyDeleteI think it all depends on how iZombie does now that 8 shows have been renewed. I would say something like a 0.8 is a good starting point with it holding at a 0.5/0.6.
ReplyDeleteExactly. They should've never put two comic book shows on the same day at the same time
ReplyDeleteMaybe they can't afford to,Mesemgers exspensive -people with powers, post apic-and VpCW needed to fill both Fri skots
ReplyDeleteUgh. I hate when they change days. Ok, SPN, Wed it is.
ReplyDeleteI expected the CW schedule to not surprise me.
ReplyDeletei can't believe they're dumping The Messengers on Fridays, i hope it;s not another Enlisted
ReplyDeleteis it sad that we're basically saying goodbye to The Messengers?
ReplyDeleteTheir viewership is completely different and AoS is doing okay, not a too big competition.
ReplyDeleteIt's Fridays so a good starting point is debatable. I would just hope that the CW at least gives is a post Flash premiere but quite doubtful.
ReplyDeleteBut I would alao say 0,7 or 0,7 is something to hold it over the water.
Yep. Thr TCA coverage was quite poor. Honestly don't know why? But still believe that viewers will find their way to the show.
ReplyDeleteThis was my favorite new CW show of the season. I preffered it over The Flash.
Crap. I was hoping iZombie would replace The 100. It would have fit perfectly in my viewing schedule.
ReplyDeleteSo guys, let's look at the statistics. How many Fridays shows have The CW canceled since its inception? By my last count, only three: The Game, Everybody Hates Chris, and Cult.
ReplyDeleteIn the case of the first two, they were shipped off to Fridays from the get-go for their finale seasons. Cult premiered on a Tuesday before moving to Friday a few episodes in. After getting pulled out, the show's remaining episodes were burned off during the summer.
Other shows that moved to Fridays: Supernatural, Smallville, and Nikita, lasted at least 3 seasons. Of the three, SPN is still on the air and has moved to two other days in its most recent seasons.
On the reality/variety front: Masters of Illusion, a half-hour show, flourished in its Friday slot last summer and got renewed. ANTM is a no-brainer, having spent 3 seasons already on Fridays and have mostly kept it steady. Ditto for Whose Line is it Anyway.
So for The Messengers to really work on Fridays at 9, it will involve a lot of marketing push from The CW the same way they did with The 100. Or else, it will definitely go the way of Star-Crossed when it bombed on Mondays.
