    It was a great episode but if they don't get Bonnie out the prison world soon going to write this show off and seriously I'm beginning to think no one going to stop Kai and if they going to make Bonnie be the one to stop Kai I'm all for it and that the reason she still in that prison world

    This episode went by super fast! Some thoughts:
    -As much as I don't like Kai, knocking out Elena was the best thing he's ever done
    - Caroline and Stefan crying at the end almost brought me to tears :(
    - the writers are doing an excellent job of making me kinda, almost, maybe like Bonnie
    -also kill Enzo please and thank you

    I TOLD YOU GUYS LIZ WOULD LIVE!!! THAT IT WAS JUST BAD NEWS!! (Which was terribly sad btw, I totally cried for Caroline) IN YOUR FACE!!! SHANNON-1...FANDOM-0!!!

    Now that I got that out of my system, let's talk about the episode. TBH, I was somewhat underwhelmed. I felt the episode kept jumping from scene to scene with this whole merge business. So basically Kai just became extremely powerful and everybody got to live??? Really??? I was waiting for a death, (especially Enzo's) I mean I'll give it to him, that was clever. And pretty awesome. (I really do love Kai). And now the curse is lifted from MF!! I'm glad about that, I missed the SBH. And the Damon/Stefan scene was nice. I love how Damon recognized the sound of his car.

    I really enjoyed my steroline scenes. Though they were sad, Stefan was there for her, and I was sooo annoyed of the Stelena scenes, I kept thinking, omggg, why are they still talking? Stefan gooo to Caroline, and then he did. I'm glad Elena didn't interrupt them, b/c I would've gotten upset. Omg, Stefan was crying along with her. And seriously can someone tell Damon??? He Lovesss Liz...imagine if he cried, I could see it. To him, Liz is like a female Alaric. Hahaha

    Matt better not help Enzo with Shit!! And ugh!! He admitted he was jealous...sooo lame. I was really hoping the writers wouldn't go there with that. Rolls eyes, w/e. Let's get this over with.

    Bonnie...where the hell did she find a christmas tree?? Lol I usually don't ask those questions and go with it, but I was looking around the entire street and didn't see one similar tree. So where ever she got it, there was only one tree in existence. I wish she could've sat there and watched it burn. And I'm sorry but am I the only one who finds it weird that she hasn't brought up Jeremy's name just once?? Not even to herself?? I half expected her to say, "I miss you Jeremy." But she said "I miss you guys" while Jeremy said, "I miss you Bonnie." Maybe she's over him? Shrugs, wouldn't cancel it out, could be a possibility. Loved the flashbacks btw. They were sweet. Aww freshman in hs. Lol That was adorable.

    Very very lame cliffhanger. I was like, wtf was that?? A cloaking spell?? And the reason is??? Ughhh, seriously why is Enzo still alive??? I'm annoyed. But i just need to mention one extremely important thing...Holy shit!! It mus be Christmas and hell froze over...CAROLINE GAVE DAMON CRED!!!! OMG seize the day!!! They've always had some kind of weird relationship, but for her to stay all those things about him. Hahaha that was great!! I smiled from ear to ear! She just came out with it. Awesome Caroline. How i love you.

    Liz having cancer was beyond predictable. I also don't like how this show ignores friendships in favor or romance. Elena is Caroline's best friends - she should have been the one to tell her.


    I'm into the Kai plot-line though. I'm interested to see what his plan is.



    Not sure how I feel about Mystic Falls not having magic anymore. I wish Enzo had at least died before that was reversed.

    Seems her death will be delayed and will she die a little later in the season maybe, like Buffy's mother did in season 5 on Buffy, when she found out she had a tumor, but difference is, Liz is on her death bed now, and probaly may die any episode now.

    Poor Caroline tbh. A friend of mine lost her dad recently and she is devastated.
    Bonnie remembering was good and touching i thought that something was going to happen tbh.
    Sighs* Damon gave the idea to Kay to suck the Magic out of the spell. so Stuck in 1994 is no diferent, right?¿ why couldnt Kay think of that and suck the magic out of there?....

    That's what I've been saying this whole time. But everyone was all "she's gonna die, it's gonna be Liz. They're killing Liz in the finale." And i was the minority, more like one percent. Literally. So again, i'm still right. Hahaha

    The way I see it. She's (eventually will be) getting a very human death. Despite how tragic it is the writers are still touching on the HUMAN parts of life, which I find very important. And out of ALL the parents. She's the only one not dying a supernatural death. John, Isobel, Miranda, Grayson (I count them b/c Stefan was there as they were drowning so it was connected to the SPN plus they knew of vamps), Mayor Lockwood, Carol, Bill, Grams, Abby, Rudy, freaking Jenna...I mean c'mon!! In a very twisted way, I find this a BLESSING for Liz....At least she actually has an option to die as humanly as possible! And she has a chance to fight for her life, which is A LOT more than anybody else got. They all got their lives taken away from them. I say, she's not dead yet. We don't know how long she has, so I'm just thankful she survived Christmas, WILL survive the future days to come, and we should all cherish the days she does have left and just enjoy her wonderful scenes with Caroline like we've been doing the last six years.

    And she's not on her "death bed" persay she's admitted in the hospital after an episode, just like Joyce was. The only difference is, Joyce hid it a lot longer. (And she suffered memory loss, which Liz hasn't yet). Idt Liz will be dying "any episode now" But I do feel she'll live til New Years, and will die some time this season. But not early in the beginning half of it. That is if they don't do a freaking time jump. I look forward to Liz's "speech" to Caroline, when the time comes.

    Watching the scene where Damon and Alaric got the "drop" on Mala(Kai) I was shouting, "YES, DAMON IS RIGHT.........DAMON IS ALWAYS RIGHT ('Ric killing Kai), but..............not yet! KAI IS THE REASON........THE ONLY REASON (for now) THAT DIAIRES ARE STILL 4 READING!" Who else was "rooting" for Damon's "Knuckle Ball", but.............not yet? Jules, seriously............Bonnie is still trapped in "Purgatory '94".............PANCAKE DIAIRES, PANCAKE DIAIRES, PANCAKE DIARIES.........NOW! Bonnie celebrating Christmas alone was sad, but I was really bummed about Caro's mom. Liz is the sheriff of the "craziest" town on TV and she's still alive after 6 seasons. BorElena getting KO'd was a "Christmas Kai Bonus"! And yes "mutha - truckas".............ENZO LIVES, AH HA HA HA HA HA! 4 THE PANCAKE DIAIRES REUNION, I will remain Nobody!!!

    Okay so vampire blood can cure someone who is dying and can bring back a person if they drank it and alter their DNA genetics, BUT NOW IT CAN'T cure cancer? Did I miss something in a back episode? How can the writers expect us to buy that baloney? Really? Help me understand, anyone? thank you

    It was quite good. I hoped for a more game changing momebts but better to do a semi-fast episode and develop the story right instead of rushing through.

    Comparing to the last year this was tremendous.

    After 6 seasons....6 freaking seasons (3 years in-universe) and they
    still haven't learned that when it comes to villains, you should forget
    about your gut feeling and listen to Damon Salvatore. Damon was right
    about Elijah betraying them back in season 2, he was right about not
    trusting Katherine's sudden change of heart in season 5 and Alaric's
    gonna learn it the hard way that he was right about killing Kai. -_-
    But thank God they don't listen to Damon. Interesting characters get to live. Although it makes MFG's IQ level a bit too under average by (not) doing so but...that's no surprise (Jeremy's sole existence in their group is a factor)
    Liked the episode.

    While it was definitely an improvement over last season's mid-season
    finale,it was still underwhelming.Everything went exactly the same way
    anyone would expect-enzo turning the table on that dumb busboy matt(who
    even thought he could take down enzo,my foot),jo getting her magic back
    persuaded by threat threat against her family by kai,bonnie still
    remaining trapped in that purgatory for unforseeable future(now that no
    one actually is there,watching bonnie roam around the empty streets is
    not a good idea for storyline IMO-can we get her in MF now,enough is
    enough),kai going after elena at the end(after all,TVD won't be the same
    unless elena is the damsel in distress and suddenly everything becomes
    about her-although that cloaking spell trick was a good one).What was
    unexpected was that kai lifted the boundary spell and it allowed our
    resident vampires to return home.I absolutely loved the defan moment at
    the end.I always thought liz is going to bite the dust in this one/by
    the end of this season,but the cancer was not what i had in my mind.I
    just hope her death is not used to prop up this ridiculous ship
    steroline,although i'm almost certain it is exactly what will happen
    eventually.Kai is turning out to be a fascinating villain since our fair
    share of great villains like kat & klaus,i hope he sticks around
    for a bit.I like liz but i don't want her with that jerkwad tyler who
    showed exactly why he will win a poll of worst & useless TVD
    character ever.While we're at it,can we get shirtless jeremy please,he
    has no storyline in this show other than whining anyway!LOL!

    Either Dries or Plec said that he's like a battery. He absorbs magic and is charged but then he uses up all of it and is left magic-less. Right now he has a lot of magic and he can use it for a way longer time than before but eventually he'll run out of resources again.

    Not the most exciting mid-season finale:I liked the moments between Caroline and Stefan, as well as the flashbacks, but the remaining scenes were average:
    It's so sad about Liz. I didn't think it was possible for someone to die of natural causes in this show. I really wish they didn't kill her off. Not only was she that one anchor to normalcy, but I hate the fact that they are almost all parentless.


    I was hoping that there would be a little more love between the twins and Jo, but I guess not (I didn't like Liv's attitude or Tyler's) However, I was surprised that the twins didn't have a problem with their psychopath brother having so many powers. Jo should have let Damon kill Kai. They really are no match for him, and he's clearly smarter than all of his siblings combined.


    I really dislike the Enzo storyline, especially now that it involves Matt. How many times are they going to tease us with the possiblity of Enzo's demise? We already have one obnoxious villain running around, we don't need Enzo. If Plec and Dries like the actor so much, maybe she can make him join the cast of the Originals. Isn't that where all the annoying characters get sent?


    I don't dislike Elena, but I'm really not interested in another rescue Elena theme, which I'm sure will take precedence over rescuing Bonnie. And with everything going on, the Elena/Damon mistletoe tease just seemed out of place.


    I'm not sure how much longer I can put up with them keeping Bonnie in isolation. She essentially has no storyline (again), until she gets rescued. With Kai gone, she has absolutely no one to interact with. I'm beginning to think that this is just the writer's way of not having to deal with her character, it's clear that they prefer to write for Elena and Caroline but given the positive feedback, regarding Bonnie's storyline, I was hoping that things might change..

    Okay, so this wonderful episode of TVD managed to achieve the following:

    Make Liz’s illness about Stefan.

    Make Liz’s illness about Elena.

    Showing almost the entirety of what should have been Liz and Caroline’s story through the eyes of Stelena instead.

    Make Liz’s illness about Stefan being a shitty friend to Caroline.

    Make Liz’s illness about whether it’s Stefan or Elena who gets to tell Caroline about her being sick.

    Make the news of Liz’s illness about Stefan’s penance for being a douche.

    Make Caroline into the damsel in distress without giving her any actual screentime.

    Put Caroline’s feelings about her mother DYING on the same level as her unrequited feelings for Stefan.

    Retcon TVD mythology for the sake of killing off the show’s only remaining parent.

    Make a story line about a parent’s death into a catalyst for a ship.

    Somehow manage to STILL relegate Caroline to nothing more than a love interest when this should be her most important story line thus far.

    I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Liz and I hate that we're apparently going to lose her in the end. I agree, somebody should tell Damon asap. He and Liz became friends, then enemies (when she found out the Salvatore brothers were vampires), then friends again. I think HE has a soft spot in his heart for HER and as we know, Damon doesn't like many people. I want him to be able to see and talk to her before...you know. It would be an awesome scene. But so sad! Poor Caro - she and her mom love each other so much.

    The fact that they are actually killing off Liz was my biggest issue, Writers always use tragedies as plot devices so that part doesn't surprise me. They also used Stefan's grief over his brother's apparent death as a plot device to create tension between him and Caroline and also as an annoying plot device to trigger the feud between him and Enzo. And sadly, all of the parental deaths have been used as some type of plot device . What bugs me is that the writers did not recognize the value of a character like Liz and thought that she was that dispensable.


    I don't remember there being a shortage of Caroline scenes. I suppose they could have filmed ten minutes of her crying by herself, or over the bed of her unconscious mom and completely left Elena and Stefan out of the picture, but it would have been strange for her to be grieving alone without her friends. LIz is not dead yet, so I'm hoping we do get some more moments between Caroline and her mom. Regardless of how they approached Liz'' death, I think it's crazy that Dries thinks that giving Caroline this kind of tragedy serves as a good no-romantic storyline for Caroline. If her mother had died at the hands of Kai or Enzo and they used it as a catalyst for Caroline to become involved in destroying Kai, that would have made more sense.

    I loved the ep. I’m also loving the season!! I think it’s one of the best so far!! I’m really looking forward to Damon and Bonnie reuniting! I really hope the writers deliver on a potentially awesome moment. I really, really like them as friends. Matt and Jeremy are such a waste of screen time right now, it’s not even funny…I’ve never cared about Matt, but Jeremy’s hunting skills could be put to much better use…. I also could care less about Tyler and the twins. Merge, don’t merge, I don’t care,…bring back Bonnie!!!!

    I don’t really see the point of Enzo yet but I’m sure there will be….him falling for Sara would be an interesting twist….he’s kinda a crazy, a$$hole-ish, ruthless killer but I will say this about him….when he likes someone, he is quite loyal. If he fell for Sara she would have a constant protector in him.

    I’m not completely sold on a relationship between Caroline and Stephan, i still like her with Klaus. But, I am open to letting the writers try to win me over….

    I did enjoy the tension between Damon and Alaric, clearly Damon feels bad and actually sad “I’m sorry”….that may have been his first time…ever! lol Ian has great chemistry with all the cast IMO, so I also enjoyed the Damon and Kai interaction and I loved the brother moment over the car!! <3

    And last but not least my favourite part of the show…Damon and Elena (Even tho Elena is one of my least fav characters). Not much between them this time, but I liked that when she wanted to talk to someone, she called him. And when she went to him and saw the mistletoe she clearly wanted to kiss him. Sadly I will have to wait for that….. :(

    I agree, Damon needs to be told. And I heard that there will be a flashback of Caroline in her younger years, so I got to thinking….. With Liz dying, being Damon’s friend, maybe he will use his special abilities (like he did with Rose) and give Liz the illusion of a better, happier time for her in her last moments. That could be the flashback maybe? Just guessing. I think that would be cool….and very nice of Damon.

Damon’s plans often fail to succeed but he sure does have a spidey sense on who can't be trusted and who needs to be killed. lol …"Shadypants" still makes me chuckle….lol But, thankfully the MF minions don’t listen, otherwise life in MF would be dull. And Kai is the best bad guy to hit TVD since Klaus (although I do feel Klaus outstayed his welcome).

    Not the best mid-season episode but it was ok.
    I like the fact that the supernatural is back in Mystic Falls. That town was getting boring although I don't think Matt is going to be very happy. I think he's going to be the next Tripp and this episode is the proof of that...If Enzo doesn't kill him first. Btw,the reasons that Enzo gives to explain why he hates Stefan so much are weak and don't make any sense. I think writers don't know what to do with him.
    I didn't expect the reason why Liz is going to die.It's the first time that a character dies because of something that is not supernatural.I felt sorry for Caroline. she doesn't deserve that.
    I loved the flashbacks. They were pretty sweet and it shows how Elena, Bonnie and Caroline's lives were before the vampires came to Mystic Falls. Speaking of Bonnie, she should come back to the town, I feel sorry for her and writers are extending that storyline too much.
    About the final cliffhanger,I think every villain in the show has kidnapped Elena. It's so repetitive...Plus,Elena is the the most
    useless vampire of the world.
    And I loved Stefan's present to Damon. Every Defan moment is a great for me!

    It still makes no sense.. .someone's organs can be ripped in shreds but vampire blood can revive them? and NOW it cannot destroy cancer....I guess they can make her a vampire, if she drinks the blood and then kill her...I am thinking that she doesn't want to be turned.....and the episode entitled "Stay" could be about Caroline trying to convince her mom to be turned into a vampire....thoughts?

    I definitely think we'll have Damon/Liz scenes. There's no doubt about that. I personally felt Damon and Caroline always had a bond. They were never full on enemies despite Caroline's "hatred" for him, they did get along or save each other every now and then. And I always thanked Damon for pushing Liz to see Caroline as her daughter and not as a monster. If it wasn't for him we would've never gotten these great scenes with Caroline and Liz. I think Liz's death will bring them closer. Now I'm not saying they're going to sit down and start drinking bourbon together, (never that), but they'll have a few nice moments. Umm, no hugging though, I don't see that in the cards. Lol

    Damon's always had a soft spot for Liz, and her for him. She thinks of Damon as her closest friend, I think she's even said that once before. They'll have a beautiful scene together, and I KNOW Damon will cry right in front of her. I do wonder if he'll give her a nice dream as she passes on. Omg. Just thinking about that, I may just start crying. I forgot it was Elena's doing to tell Damon about Liz, but Kai had to come along and screw it all up. Smh

    That'd be a rehash of her Father's turning.
    It makes sense that it doesn't work on cancer as cancer is your own cells going out of control, multiplying. Vampire Blood can cure injuries, but it won't remove something like cancer, it would more likely make it worse as it'd heal the cancer cells as well as the normal ones.
    Heroes had a similar storyline with Hiro and Cancer, and made it clear he needed a healer as Clair's blood couldn't heal him

    Funny,, If we all love to hate Kai,, that miens he is not long for the show. That really is too bad. I enjoy his crazy character very much,, But,, NO-ONE,, out shines the SOD's chosen "Golden Boy",, Damon.
    That's too bad really,, I wish they would change there idea of killing off some great characters..

    Enzo's character is beyond annoying,, and Stefan??? He Seems to have given up on participation. The last semi-interesting thing he did (imo) was shoot (cross Bow) Enzo in front of Cap. Trip/Fell. I don't get what is going on with his character. I wonder if they are setting him up for a melt down? hmm have to wait and see.

    Elena's character is making me nauseous. The only thing missing is her tongue dragging on the floor behind Damon. I guess Kai has plans for her. I hope he wins.:))

    Hi Joy,,(IMO) Yes he will need to replenish,, depending on how much he uses at a given time. The Travelers were more powerful when together,, so what he has absorbed is the left overs or "Resins" of magic they left behind. He still needs Liv to merge with Luke,, so he merge with Joe. He can then be stronger b/c he is older, and can absorb Liv's Magic. Remember he wants to be the "Elder" & in charge of the Coven. BUT,, He will have to absorb the Covens magic to stay in charge. Pretty wild huh?? His Father has to figure in here somewhere also. So does Tyler and his Wolf Gene.

    haha!Nope,this week there was no confusion unlike last couple of episodes.I am pretty sure tyler will activate his werewolf curse while saving liv-a fitting irony since she saved him from activating it in the 1st place by episode 15-16.Bonnie will be the one to take down kai once and for all.You don't stab bonnie twice and get away with it!

    Yes,, Kai knows this,, he will return at the right time and re-drain them. There is a never ending source for him with that. That is why he drained Bonnie by the Tree one last time before he left. He is super strong & I think it's kind of cool the way his character was created. The young man they chose for his part,, is playing it perfectly. So that miens he will have to be killed off soon,, even though I hope they/gang doesn't. That is Bonnie's privileged to have. They should keep him alive,, but send him back where he was. There is no-further magic to be had there for him to find.
    All of this is just imo.:)

    Terrific,, b/c when Enzo's character was first introduced,, I actually felt for the guy. He was more of a human style Vampire then Elijah,, at that time.
    Now,, not so much. They have his character behaving like a whinny cry baby. After everything he has been through,, too have him behave like this,, is beyond my comprehension of his character. On the flip-side,,He does have a sexy voice and he is not hard on the eyes, either. Except for the hair dye and earring,, not appealing.:)
    P.S. a possible romance 4 S.S. and Enzo,, crossed my mind too. lol

    Yeah I teared on that scene only. I was right about Liz Not dying. Everyone thought she would. (They thought she would die or mostly get killed by Kai) And I said it wasn't true, that she would live. It was speculation on WHY Caroline was crying in the promo. Ya know what Stefan would tell her. I said it was either bad news or Tyler dying (which would make the most sense if not about Liz) but that Liz would not die/be killed this episode.

    OH I see, bravo then :D and giving the recent spoilers about Caroline finding new uses for vamp blood I think it will cure Liz which is good because I don't want that to happen to Caroline. The episode was good. I felt really bad for Bonnie and Jeremy, loved the Steroline scenes even though they broke my heart and I was already destroyed :( not sure yet how I feel about the whole Kai/Joe stuff, I can't stand Kai and I didn't think that Joe could really overpower him even before he sucked all that power, so I'm not optimistic now, I feel like he's sticking around for a long time which is a shame because I like Ric and Joe. I like Liv sometimes and sometimes I just want to slap her lol and the same with Luke although I tolerate him more than her.
