  1. I suspected Charlie was going to be the death but I was still so unprepared for that. And oh God, Will.

  2. Maggie and Jim. It's about damn time. They kept coming up with ridiculously stupid ways to keep them apart.

  3. As much as I've enjoyed the previous epiodes this season, that's how much I disliked the turn of events in this one. Where does one start? I don't want to take away the happiness fans of Jim and Maggie may be experiencing right now, but I can't help but wonder why Maggie would want to pursue a relationship with him. Especially since it doesn't appear Jim has grown one bit from the experiences he's had in his past failed relationships. Why is this time going to be different with Maggie?

Mac, Don, and Sloan are going to feel so guilty about Charlie's death. Charlie was a ticking time bomb waiting to explode because he sacrificed his integrity for the sake of trying to keep ACN functioning along with employees' jobs intact admist the chaos Pruitt was forcing on the network and its workers. However, there is a line that shouldn't be crossed. A rape victim should never ... Never be asked to be interviewed along the side of her alleged attacker(s). Charlie crossed that line and forced Don to do the same by threatening to fire Don if he didn't follow Charlie's orders. What Sloan (and by extension Mac) did was underhanded, but for the right reasons. Sloan knew she was going to lose her job, but she was trying to accomplish the greater good by shredding Pruitt's social media hack in the interview. I knew it was all going to turn out badly for Charlie when he told Pruitt that Leonna gave only him the power to fire employees. Now there is nothing standing in Pruitt's way and his so called journalism.

I didn't see the twist coming with Will though. He is going to have a lot of issues to work through between his incarceration and Charlie's death. I wonder if Neal is going to finally show up. My guess is he will come back for Charlie's funeral. For a man who was claimed to be willing to make the sacrifice of facing jail time instead a losing his journalistic integrity by naming a source, Neal has done one hell of a job hiding while others like Will took the hit. If this story was meant to showcase Neal in a positive light, then it failed miserably.

  4. I got to say, Charlies death was hard for me. I really hoped "the team" would all be there together at the final credits. I don't know if I have watched a show in its entirety that's actually ever done that... this one was so close.

Don & the college girls back & forth debate was so well written. Both sides made compelling arguments for their reasons why they should & shouldn't go ahead with the interview. I really wanted both sides to win the discussion because both sides are right on most or all of their points.
Maggie & Jim was bound to happen by the finale. I agree with "elle j." that Jim hasn't really grown up. Maggie clearly has. But that doesn't mean there isn't something between them that COULD work. Sadly, we'll never really see if it did or not.
Sloans blindside outing of the social media hack was amazing. Absolutely, A-MA-ZING! As someone who has a website that often runs entertainment related stories as well and has discussed/debated the merits of it with countless people myself. It may be interesting to hear me say this, but Sloan was right about every part of it. Even I get "fans" asking me all the time for personal details/info of celebs I interact with that I feel is unneeded and a bit odd. If a news network ever encouraged this behaviour, HOLY SHIT would the crazies come out of the woodwork. Safety would be a concern for many celebs.
The way they made Will have a storyline while not being part of THE storyline was brilliant. Never thought much of the fact that he pointed out he is supposed to be in solitary confinement, yet hes sharing a cell with a person charged with a violent crime till I saw the photo on the wall at the end and realized it was his own imagination working out issues with his father. It also hurt so much to see Mac at the end have to tell him about Charlie. After all he fought for after almost 2 months, he gets to go home, but learns 1 of his closest friends is dead. Just ouch.
If the finale doesn't have a happy ending I will be quite disappointed. Neal needs to come home. The gang needs to shake Pruit, either by quitting/being fired or he is run out somehow.

It is hard to believe with how great Boston, Run & Contempt were this year, but I think this was the best episode of the season, and arguably 1 of the top 3 of the shows all too short history.

  5. Couldn't care less about Jim and Maggie. But the rest of the episode was great!

Will talking to his dad was a great twist.
    Rebecca rocks!
And I'm glad to see that's over. Now lets just hoe Neal can come home.

I'm a bit conflicted over the whole rape storyline. Originally I found it interesting seeing Don admit society has made him be predisposed to take a "not all men" stance. But then Mary spoke her piece and gave the "yes all women" counter argument I thought it was handled somewhat respectfully. And even though it would have been nice to see that speak to Don and have him go through with it, because it was her choice and it was what she wanted, I can see his need to want to "protect" her and keep true to his subconscious "not all men" mentality. However in a show that prides itself on being preachy I think the cermon kinda missed the point and a wonderful opportunity to speak about the conversation of rape and of the true victims...
And since I've read it's actually getting more negative traction, and one of the female writers was actually excluded from the conversation while breaking down the storyline so that missed opportunity is looking more and more deliberate. And even though it was in a way respectfully handled, it's kinda leaving a bitter note in my mouth.

    Sloan and Mac...
I get Mac being upset but her whole of being indignant and acting like a petulant child was more annoying than anything else. Instead of wondering what was wrong with Charlie (like Sloan and Don were), instead of talking to him, she was throwing fits left and right. Can't say I appreciated that too much.
Sloan getting in the tech guys face over the stalking app was gold. However that Mac used it as another excuse to throw her own fit, and then what it resulted to for Charlie... I wish she would have thought it through more
I see why they did what they did, I just didn't appreciate how they went about it.

    Speaking of...
I had a feeling something was gonna happen to Charlie. I had a feeling from the promo that was the reason Charlie was acting the way he was... but still I broke down. He was trying so hard. And he has been trying so hard since day one...
(and as a sidenote, that nobody seemed to have an "OH SHIT HE'S BEEN ACTING OOC FOR OUR BENEFIT" revelation when Pruit came down sorta bothered me... was I alone here?)

In the end I do think it is Charlie who IS Don Quixote...

  6. "but I can't help but wonder why Maggie would want to pursue a relationship with him. Especially since it doesn't appear Jim has grown one bit from the experiences he's had in his past failed relationships. Why is this time going to be different with Maggie?"

I disagree. I think even though Jim has some trade marks of old Jim, Jim isn't as immature as season one Jim. There is also a mini writing parallel here with Jim and Maggie in contrast to Will and Mac (second time around)...I think the truth is, as the episode pointed out, that sometimes you can't always help who you love. The heart wants what the heart wants and I think even though Maggie has grown more than Jim, I don't think her love for him has ever really gone away. However we still have an episode left to really see where the cards are going to fall...

I knew it was all going to turn out badly for Charlie when he told Pruitt that Leonna gave only him the power to fire employees. Now there is nothing standing in Pruitt's way and his so called journalism."

I knew the moment Don Quixote was touched on, let alone the episode title. I agree with what you say, except that unfortunately, that is the world we live in. A world where people in America don't care as much for real journalism (the real suffering of humanity), as much as they do for dismantling and mockery of other things that really are not important to the bigger picture. It's one reason I wonder if Sorkin won't be coming back to television??? I give him stones for showing us the death one era and the beginnings of another..."We're boldly going where we haven't gone before..."

"Neal has done one hell of a job hiding while others like Will took the hit. If this story was meant to showcase Neal in a positive light, then it failed miserably."

We have to wait and see where everything will be left. Let's not proclaim nonsense until we see the series finale! :)

  7. I thought Charlie would be a gonner before the season ended, but that doesn't change the impact of yet another beautiful episode! Be interesting to see where everything ends, especially because I still wonder if that woman really was Will's source and not some kind of decoy...

Really loved Will's scenes too--I wonder if he was hallucinating--was that his father?

  8. I was wondering if what happened to Neal. So after Neal mouths off about rights and ethics and doing what's just, he's made to look like a coward? Nice!

Also, I'm curious what will keep Jim from screwing up with Maggie given his past track record. Oh well. At least they put an end to the will-they-won't-they.

  9. Despite frequently visiting this site, I managed to not see any spoilers about the episode. Charlie's death took me completely by surprise. My first thought, was maybe he was fed up with everything, and purposely tried to kill himself. Then Mac tells Will he died of a heart attack.

Gah, great series, and a great episode. Hate it that the show is ending. This episode was on-par with some of the best of The West Wing, and I've seen the entirety of The West Wing several times over (even the post-Sorkin years)

  10. Sorkin has a way of writing "great" deaths in his shows. Charlie's death was on the level of Mrs Landingham of The West Wing. Even in post-Sorkin West Wing, Leo's heart attack was incredibly emotional, as was his death (following the real life death of actor John Spencer).

Great show all around. So pissed and sad it's ending. Too soon man.

  11. I'm really disheartened that this is it! So sad :(
