  1. Did not see any of those deaths coming. I am guessing that Jimmy will get redemption and end up having to stop Dandy and Stanley.

  2. Well that body count added up fast. Love the shout out to the original movie 'Freaks' with the tarring and feathering the creepy father. Whatever he deserved it.

Dandy continues to just creep me out and blow me away. The actor is killing it, well, quite literally on screen and in his portrayal Dandy.

Poor Jimmy :( Sad to see his life falling apart like this. And sad to see him becoming like his mother with the drinking a lot too.

Elsa is such a gross, manipulative skeeze. I know they give her a sad, messed up background but she is just so despicable. Could she have laid it on any thicker with her reaction when they found Edith's body (and the audience already knew Elsa had done the crime). Jessica Lange rocks at the role and plays it perfectly but man I hate her character such a egotistical b word.

  3. If Jessica Lange doesn't leave the show, or at least move to a recurring or supporting role in season 5, I think I'll give up watching American Horror Story. Lange is great at what she does, but I'm tired of the same old from her. This is definitely the weakest of her performances from the last 4 seasons. That's not to say it's bad, but it's all getting a little tired. And Paulson's absence was sorely felt from tonight's episode. I get Ethel was protecting them from Elsa, but maybe she hid them away a little too well xD

Also, is it just me or does Frances Conroy get the short end of the stick every season. She's one of the best actresses on the show, personally I would class her well above Lange, and her characters are great, but they need to give her more to do if she returns for season 5.

  4. Next season Conroy should either be the "lead" or have a major story arc that's among the most important. Hopefully something that involves her playing multiple people as we all know she'd kill it.

  5. If Conroy could get the amount of screen time that Lange gets every season, I think she could deliver the best performance of the series. They just don't seem interested in writing for her, though - apparently giving Lange, who she's blown off the screen for the past two seasons, the same Margo Channing-esque role ad nauseum is more interesting for them.

  6. I'm already missing Kathy Bates. I was hoping she'd be on the show all season. She deserves an emmy for this.

    Dandy is just beyond creepy.

I feel like the tarring and feathering was unfinished.

For me, this season has been too dark and depressing. I can't wait for it to be over.

  7. I have mixed feelings on the show. I do find myself extremely compelled and I can't not watch it, but while I love the performances almost all of the characters are sickening in their behavior and just awful. (With the obvious exceptions of certain minor freaks like Ma and Eve.) And while it's okay to have those in shows and especially horror, there are other ways to bring horrific things to a story while having characters you can actually care about. Even as dark as Asylum was I truly cared for Sister June's arc, and she looks like a saint compared to Coven and FS.

I really hope next year that the horror is coming from external elements as opposed to mostly people being absolutely sick to one another. Although I suppose maybe that's supposed to be the whole point of this season. :)

  8. I get what you're saying. I think some of it seems to be they went for shock value this season. But I'm finding that it's a very depressing, dark season with little to no lightness. There's no humor, each ep is very depressing. I come away from the eps feeling down. I'm hoping next season will be done differently.

  9. The best episódio of freak show!

  10. The Frances may not have much highlight, but she always has incredible characters.

  11. Her characters are brilliant, whereas Lange gets a new spin on the same character every year. Not identical, but so similar you start to think maybe this is how all the seasons are conncted. Elsa, Fiona, Constance, and Sister Jude (can't remember her Asylum name, was that right?) are all the same person, that's it, right?

  12. I'm torn on Bates. She's brilliant, but her accent was constantly getting on my nerves!

  13. I can't believe all the comments about Jessica Lange work, i mean she has been fantastic all the seasons, i don't see this performance as her weakest.
I'll really miss Kathy Bates and Frances Conroy, both were amazing on this season, the scene when Gloria was with the doctor, and Ethel with Elsa before she dies, they just killed it :D
I really love love love this season!!

  14. Kathy Bates, Frances Conroy and Jessica Lange are killing it this season. Bow to those ladies.
Best episode after Edward Mordrake 1 and 2.
For real give Frances the lead next season! It's time to bring her best.
