The 100 - Reapercussions - Advance Preview: "Allies, enemies and shifts of power"

5 Nov 2014

The 100 continues to deliver in the third episode of season 2, titled "Reapercussions". The title is a composition of the words 'repercussions' and 'Reaper'. Both of these things play a major role in the episode. Various Reapers will be seen in the episode and it's never good to come across them. We will also see the repercussions of events from the previous episode, like Clarke finding Anya in a cage and Octavia witnessing her lover Lincoln get abducted by Reapers.

Our 11 series regular are currently spread across five different locations: Clarke, Jasper and Monty in Mount Weather, Abby, Kane and Raven in Camp Jaha, Bellamy and Finn in the woods, Octavia and Lincoln in a different part of the woods and lastly, Jaha in the desert. While one of these locations is not featured in the episode, the series has done that in season 1 as well when the Ark was absent from a few episodes. Something The 100 does very well is dividing its action in all these different places. Every group has its own problems and nobody is just sitting back and relaxing. At the end of this episode, there will be two more locations as some characters will leave their current location to go somewhere else. For example, somebody will leave Camp Jaha but whether or not that character leaves willingly remains to be seen.

An overarching theme featured among all groups is allies and enemies. Enemies become allies when they are forced to work together. Enemies are captured and 'politely' asked for information on other characters' whereabouts. However, it also works the other way around. Allies you thought you could trust betray you for their own good. Dynamics are shifting all around and it's a very fun thing to see.

Another theme that we see across all different locations is a shift in power. If you thought Bellamy was in charge of the group of five you might be surprised at a decision Finn makes for him near the end of the episode. If you considered Octavia to have power because she captured the Grounders' healer in episode 2, you will see that she's pretty much under the grace of Indra now. There will also be a significant shift of power in Camp Jaha as Kane's leadership is once again threatened.

Speaking of Kane, I know some of you have hated the character's regression this season. After pushing his population reduction plan in the first half of season 1, we saw a much more humane Kane in the latter episodes only to have him be the strict leader since landing on Earth. I think his actions are somewhat defendable as he finds himself in a whole new world now and there is a lot of pressure on him. While there is no complete redemption, we do see a more human Kane in this episode. Things get worse before they get better though, as he is more or less forced to make a harsh decision in the first 20 minutes. However, we do see Kane struggling with this and near the end he does something that will change his style of leadership.

A few more teasers from "Reapercussions":
-At least two series regulars are not seen throughout the entire episode.
-We will hear two loud screams: one from somebody who is in physical pain and one from somebody who is in mental pain.
-Speaking of pain, do you remember Clarke's mercy killing of Atom in episode 3 of last season? There is another mercy killing in this episode and once again, Clarke is present at the scene.
-If you thought Clarke is all badass and tough now, you will see a scene where she's pretty terrified.

"Reapercussions" airs this Wednesday at 9/8c on the CW. Check out a promo for the episode here.

  3. what's with clarke and mercy killings lol, do you see finn stepping away from the darkness anytime soon or is he falling more in to it and vice-versa with bellamy? i honestly can't see myself rooting for kane after what looks like he's going to torture abby, i know i shouldn't be happy about clarke being terrified but i like being reminded that she IS a human being and can have vulnerable moments and will we see the reapers finally talk or even IF they CAN talk

  4. i thought the title of the episode was a typo on your part lol

  5. Great preview! Looking forward to the episode now!
I'm guessing Jaha's story will be absent from this episode.
Nervous to see who is mercy-killed and sort of excited/nervous to see how far Finn can really go!

  6. Surprisingly to me, I keep hoping nothing happens to Nyko. I liked his introduction and hope to see more of him and not only the Lincoln aka Romeo Grounder.

    So my predictions:
-At least two series regulars are not seen throughout the entire episode. Jaha and Monty (again).
-We will hear two loud screams: one from somebody who is in physical pain and one from somebody who is in mental pain. Lincoln tortured by the reapers and Raven dealing with her condition.
-Speaking of pain, do you remember Clarke's mercy killing of Atom in episode 3 of last season? There is another mercy killing in this episode and once again, Clarke is present at the scene. Probably the guy who was burned in the previous episode.
-If you thought Clarke is all badass and tough now, you will see a scene where she's pretty terrified. I guess she discovers the Mountainers are cannibals.

  7. Finn is desperate to find Clarke and the rest of the 100 and I think he will do whatever it takes. It was very good to see Clarke being scared. It's not a very long moment but it just shows that she is still human and doesn't know what to do at times. As I said with Kane, things are getting worse before they get better. The Reapers will be saying a few words here and there but nothing like a real conversation or anything.

  8. I also checked the title multiple times because I thought it was a typo as well.

  9. Thank you, it's a great episode! Interesting guess but I can't confirm anything. The mercy killing is someone who is probably in a lot of pain already and (s)he is about to suffer a whole lot more. It might be someone we know, it might be someone we don't.

  10. Interesting predictions but of course I can't confirm or deny anything. Remember that the guy who was burned in the previous episode, was nearly perfectly fine near the end which caused Clarke to investigate in medical.

  11. Badass episode. Though as I said in another preview, I was a bit turned off by the blue screen when Clarke and Anya are about to do something ( can't say of course but you know ) and we just see a blue screen so it was really hard to imagine the scene.
I just wonder what will happen to Clarke and Anya after their last scene together and I also wonder if the mid-season finale is going to be the episode where they all reunite...
It kills me that I'm not allowed to say everything I want arghhhhh.. I guess I just have to wait until Thursday morning.

  12. wow blue screen? weirdly enough i find it weird that they have cgi aside from the ark honestly is that strange

  13. Yep, the temp VFX was a bit irritating, that's a downside of the screeners. But I will watch the episode again when it comes out so I'll see how the scene has turned out. I'm very excited for the upcoming episodes but especially the mid-season finale. Episode 5 is also said to be a big episode, can't wait!

  14. wow so it looks like finn has a great storyline this season but i hope it doesn't change who he is though, did the episode make it seem like the reapers have a leader or is it just chaos in their society

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ho, it's completely normal you know!
We were warned at the beginning of the episode that it was just a rough cut and that CGI, music and sound effets may be not included.

    ReplyDelete
  16. OMG! You guys are such teases =P hahah!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Good spoilers!
Can't wait for Clarke to reunite with her mom, Finn, and the others!

  18. i can't ignore this show anymore. Too many smart people tell me it's really good. lol

I thought it's a poor Battlestar Galactica wannabe, but apparently the show has found its own groove and is improving with each episode.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yeah, perfectly normal. We often get screeners that aren't finished. They're missing sound, CGI, parts of the set, all sorts of stuff. Generally the scenes are in order, but they aren't finished, with all the post-production stuff to be added before the airdate

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm glad you like it! The show is really good in my opinion.

  21. I can't wait for this episode! I heard it's the best of the season so far. What I'm most super excited for is Anya and Clarke escaping together. I've been waiting to see more interaction between these two badass leaders!

Reapers! I love how scary they are. Cant blame Clarke for getting scared. Will we learn more about them? Why they are the way that they are?

I really hope the mercy killing isn't Anya. She's such a great character.

Two regulars not seen: Jaha and Raven? They're the only ones we haven't seen in the 2x03 promo and episode stills.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It's not Jasper and Monty because they're both seen in the promo and episode stills for 2x03. In fact, everyone is seen except for Jaha and Raven.

  23. Sounds so good! I totally needed this right now; made me feel better. I am looking forward to this ep. Thanks for the awesome review.

  24. I am wondering how long it will take the 48 to notice that Clarke has gone MIA and realize that she maybe right about Mount-Weather? Then there is Kane he maybe be a good administrator but his inflexibility regarding the rules may cause division within the survivors of the ARK? Remember Kane you don't have the airlock anymore too control the misfits !

  25. Good job on this preview! You don't give too much away, just enough to make us go crazy a little more while waiting for the episode to air ;) love it!

  26. I really don't want to see finn in charge...

  27. Cannot wait to see this episode on Weds! Sounds so good!
BTW Fans please all of you make sure to watch LIVE on Weds at 9/8 central on the CW!

The 100w needs many seasons! They cannot cancel it, it has been gaining new fans on Netflix so hopefully those will tune in now to watch live! Spread the word and support this awesome show!

  28. Really hope this show beats the odds and gets renewed again. It was the number one show on Netflix the past week, so hopefully those new fans will feel the need to watch it live now. Ive seen tons of positive comments on twitter.

Do you think that will improve the ratings? I just really hope so!
The 100 deserves at least 4 seasons!

  29. It really is a good show and people are finally catching on on Netflix. Please help us improve the ratings and watch it live on the CW at 9/8 central. Thanks!

  30. The first few episodes might scare you away, but it gets better.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Im happy to be corrected if it means getting to see Monty in the next episode XD

    ReplyDelete
  32. Me neither. Not looking forward to that at all.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The pilot is silly and the weakest episode but after episode 3 the show only gets better and better.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I could barely stand Finn last season but I think he has been great in the past two episodes. I don't like this idea of him becoming the leader or going dark like some other spoilers said. I thought ending his romantic storylines and making him more involved with the group was enough to improve his character.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Finn doesn't seem like the type to make a good leader from season 1. I don't dislike his character but I don't love his character either. Bellamy is a good leader when making decisions for "his people's" safety. Even when he was making the shitty decisions in the first part of season 1 he knew they weren't the right things to do.

    ReplyDelete
  36. He's not really "in charge", but he is, lets say, "proactive"

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think we are seeing Finn coming down with PTSD with his promo behavior added to the fact Clarke is missing with the other 48 .

  38. This is gonna be great. Can't wait.
