Thanks to KSiteTV for bringing this to our attention

The following paragraph is taken from the Dec 5 edition of EW Magazine.
Later in the afternoon at his other office on the Warner Bros. lot, Berlanti meets with fellow producer Ali Adler and Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood to go over looks for their upcoming revamp of Supergirl. The show will follow 24-year-old Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, and with a twist that that could melt fanboy brains, Berlanti says it's possible this Supergirl could enter the worlds of Arrow and The Flash.

  1. GOD! NO!
Maybe if she's from another Earth, but the same earth as Flash/Arrow?

  2. What?!!! How?! Come on, having Barry on Arrow was already a stretch, now they are gonna have aliens on the show? Superman is my absolute favourite superhero and I'm sure that I will like Supergirl but plz be reasonable!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Please, God, DON'T! This show will have nothing to do with Supergirl... They can't have freaking Superman here! How are they gonna tell her origins?

This is a terrible, terrible idea... For the love of God, keep this away from Arrow and Flash... Why not trying again with a Wonder Woman show? Or a Stargirl show for f**ks sake!

    DO A FREAKING STARGIRL SHOW!

  4. This doesn't sound like a good idea. But if anyone can wing this and make it believable it's these guys. May be we will get Green Lantern down the road. I am more interested in knowing if the Nightwing show from NBC will be a part of Arrow/Flash universe. I want that more.

  5. As strange as it sounds this just might work.
Back in 1978 no one though Mork from Ork would work on Happy Days or more so as a spin-off so lets wait and see how this all plays out before we rush to judgement.

  6. The problem with Supergirl is Supergirl itself... It's too tied to Superman. You have plenty of shows you can do: a Stargirl show would be PERFECT for theCW, for example.

You have a lot of characters that aren't a limb of a mayor one you can't name or show.

  7. Fonzie and Mork from Ork

  8. Hmmm. I don't know. Really a big stretch. I mean it could work but It would be strange if the show airs on CBS. I know they want to get viewers and melt the verses but a big stretch.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Could be interesting. I have a feeling it won't end up connecting. But if it does, I will watch it and be excited for it because I trust these guys. They have done such a great job with Arrow and The Flash!

  10. Why doesn't the EW link work ?

    ReplyDelete
  11. YES! Always wanted this! They've obviously been looking at my Christmas list....

    ReplyDelete
  12. Please no! But I will follow Supergirl serie. Just please no crossover, Which channel will air Supergirl? I forgot. Hope Laura Vandervoort gets to play her but I doubt...

    ReplyDelete
  13. Isn't Nightwing only gonna appear in the Titans pilot.

    ReplyDelete
  14. You can avoid Kal-El somewhat easily.

    ReplyDelete
  15. How is that not reasonable? It wouldn't affect Arrow's less use of powers at all, except using crossovers and even then there's nothing inherently incompatible with the notion of aliens and Arrow at all.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I don't know about this.I hope they keep these franchise away from this show.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I doubt that it'd affect Arrow as a show much, only during crossover episodes wich most likely would rather include Green Arrow showing up on Supergirl.

I actually mind Kara less than Barry since she, as a character, is closer to Oliver than Barry will ever be

    ReplyDelete
  18. what? Just mention that her cousin got lost during the implosion of her home planet. They can avoid Clark, however he exists

    ReplyDelete
  19. but Stargirl is a third-tier hero while Supergirl is pretty much a DC a-lister

    ReplyDelete
  20. Amell showing up on NBC could work for promotional purposes

    ReplyDelete
  21. CBS,you mean.Right?

    ReplyDelete
  22. true, I got my networks wrong

    ReplyDelete
  23. I didn't know that. So who else will feature in that show?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I've heard Cyborg, Raven, Starfire, and Beast Boy.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Have TV shows from separate networks ever shared universes? Sounds odd.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I know of Cyborg and Raven. I like both their powers. Now let me go and research Starfire and Beast Boy. It's sad Nightwing is only there in the pilot. I hope he gets his own show.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Starfire is an alien. She flies, has super-strength, can shoot lasers from her eyes. Beast boy can shape shift into any animal he's seen mythical, extinct or still alive. By pilot I meant in the Titans TV show since only a pilot is being produced as of right now. Sorry 'bout that.

    ReplyDelete
  28. So are you implying they'll make just a female Clark Kent? Make Kara work as a reporter or something like that? I don't like that... Why not make a Superman show instead? They're doing 2 Flashs already. This isn't a Supergirl show... It's a new show using a known brand...

At least i hope they'll get the rights to use Starfire on the show... Idk, i don't like where this show is headed... I guess i still have the memory of that Supergirl stand alone movie of the '80s... Ughhh.

    ReplyDelete
  29. CBS should have gave this to Warner bros the CW I feel like they are just gonna mess it up

    ReplyDelete
  30. She is a cool character that would fit with theCW and in the Arrow/Flash universe(with some changes, perhaps) better...

It's quite unknown so the writers can work more loosely.

I mean, Barry is one thing. He has speed, but one can argue(as it will happen on the crossover) Oliver will win in hand-to-hand combat. Arrow has a high point against him.

Kara? Are we gonna cross over Kara with this Oliver? It's like crossing Superman with Nolan's Batman. While Ollie jumps on the bike and drives to the scene, Kara already drank a tea, flew there, slapped the villains and was done in 15 seconds.

Sorry, at least give Oliver meta-human enemies first... I don't see the show working alone, the less in a crossover with Arrow. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Because having super powered aliens on the show is a very big leap, even last season when Oliver told Dig and Felicity about hoe the Mirakuru was designed to create human weapons, Dig's response was "Human weapons! My god, what's next? Aliens?!" to which Oliver replied "This is real" so even the show runners acknowledged the fact that aliens are too much science fiction to have on the show.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I know CBS co-owns CW but I still think it's weird to have crossovers between shows on different networks, but maybe you're right and they won't bring Kara to the Arrowverse.

How is she closer to Oliver? As a character she is more relatable to Oliver you mean? or are they close in the comics?

    ReplyDelete
  33. character-wise she's closer to Oliver, she's idealistic and has a sense of responsibility. Unlike Barry (on the show) who is just..well a bit of a prick.
I could see Kara and Oliver work together quite well.

Yeah, it's weird but it'd be something really awesome to see, the last significant cross network cross-over I remember was when Willow showed up on Angel while Buffy aired on UPN and Angel on theWB

    ReplyDelete
  34. noooooo

I ment that all they need to do is to mention Clark without showing him, as easy as that to confirm Supes existing in this universe

    ReplyDelete
  35. easy solution: kryptonite or turn Kara dark for an episode and make a Arrow vs. Supergirl episode

    ReplyDelete
  36. I liked her on Smallville and that's all I know about her sadly but I'm sure I'll like her since I love superman. I love Barry but in last night's episode he really annoyed me, especially that scene with the mugger, but he went back to his usual self at the end.
I could see them working together very well too, but imo the show needs more fun superheroes like Barry (when he's not gloating and showing off) to join the team.

Agreed, it would be awesome. But as I remember Buffy and Angel had the same show runner, and aside from GB we don't know who is going to run Supergirl (wait do we?), can they even do a crossover between two shows on different networks with different EPs? That would be very interesting to see.

    ReplyDelete
  37. that mugger scene reminded me of the car thief scene in "Amazing Spiderman" with Peter not being cocky but nearly spitefull wich is just wrong in terms of characterization.

I'm not hot on Oliver either (since season 1 honestly, he may have been through much but they rewrite his persona so often to fit certain arcs that he's just a mess right now) but at least he's not someone that knows how strong he is and shamelessly abuses it. He has other flaws (like not letting Laurel be her own person) but that's one thing I'm glad I haven't seen on Arrow yet.

They just had the same creator (Joss Whedon) but he was only showrunner on Buffy at that time, the showrunners worked closely together though and they actually shot next door to each other.

When the networks agree to do so it could certainly work

    ReplyDelete
  38. Or that most people don't believe in aliens. It's a comic book show that shares it's universe with a time-travelling killer. I really don't see the issue here.

    ReplyDelete
  39. they don'tneed to name him, they could just alude to him.

"When I was sent to earth another capsule started, it carried my younger cousin, who was my world. I know that he's out there somewhere and some day I will find him"

    ReplyDelete
  40. Isn't Cyborg supposed to be a part of the JLA movie?

    ReplyDelete
  41. The creator of the three shows are the same

    ReplyDelete
  42. A spin-off with Black Canary makes more sense for the CW and to do a cross over between the 3 shows at some point would work better imho!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. if this is supergirl w/o superman, they might as well use a completely different character. even Karen Starr/ PowerGirl would be a better option, as probably only DC fans would know or care that she's a superman character.

anyway for all its faults, i still enjoy Arrow and Flash very much, and if this would be done by a similar group, then i'm already looking forward to it. superman in it or not.

    ReplyDelete
  44. They won't cross networks. And I've always had a problem with Superman vs stuff (so I guess by extension Supergirl (hate that name)) because if he isn't fighting another alien it never made much sense. I mean The Flash is just fast. He's still human, he can be hurt. Superman was always too invulnerable to get behind normal people taking him on.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I find this very hard to believe. It's not even going to be on the same network.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Buffy and Angel after the UPN/WB split is the only one that comes to mind.

    ReplyDelete
  47. AWESOME!!! u guess if they can't have Superman they can have Supergirl WHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yeah actually. He's also getting a solo film (n 2020 I think).

    ReplyDelete
  49. The issue is that despite Arrow being a superhero show, it's grounded and is sticking to the real world, that's why Ray won't have his powers on Arrow and Laurel won't get the canary cry, so to suddenly have aliens would be a hard pill to swallow.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'm aware of that... not what I was asking about.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I didn't see the amazing Spiderman, somehow I had a feeling that I won't like it especially since I really liked the original movies.

What made you feel like they rewrote his character? I don't think he would ever brag about his abilities, considering what he had to do to acquire them I don't think he sees them as a gift at all.

I didn't know that, well it would be very interesting to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  52. You want Laurel to have her own show?????????

    ReplyDelete
  53. I don't mean this as bashing or hate just stating a fact, do you honestly think people would watch a show dedicated solely to Laurel?!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. No offense to Laurel's fans but I doubt they will generate enough ratings for the show to survive.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Laura is already on another show, Bitten, so I don't think she has time to be on this show.

I'm sure they'll find another awesome actress for the role, though! :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. I fear that too. Ok. Bitten is cool.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Again though there are super-powered people on Arrow. And Ray still will have his suit on Arrow. Even if he doesn't shrink on the show (he'll will if on The Flash). But how can you not swallow that, logically there has to be life on other planets, and while scientifically speaking powers like Superman aren't plausible, neither is mirakuru or super speed.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Until now Barry was the only super powered individual on the show and he is an exception for the sake of the crossovers; and the Mirakuru was some how a scientific invention not a magical potion, although it did feel that way sometimes lol I'm not sure how they will handle Ray's suit but I think it would have a lot of gadgets and technological aids, there won't be something "super" about it. I don't really believe there's life on other planets, maybe I will be proven wrong one day but for the time being aliens remain to be science fiction especially if they have the house of El's superpowers lol

    ReplyDelete
  59. Maybe not but if these 3 episodes in the New Year that are supposed to develop her story line don't hit the mark with the fans then her story is just going to continue to drag the show down. Hopefully they will work...

    ReplyDelete
  60. I really hope so, because last season there was a noticeable ratings drop after the mid season hiatus so they should learn from the past and make these episodes very spectacular (no pressure writers lol)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Kryptonians aren't magical either. My point is there is nothing less realistic or believable of Mirakuru and metahumans compared to a Kryptonian.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Birds Of Prey could be the only answer. Not with her as a outright lead as those fans that don't want to see her won't follow her even if maybe Felicity, Barbara, Helena or Tatsu were there. I wouldn't. Damn.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Again, Mirakuru was somehow explained scientifically, and I did say that having Barry's powers on the show was already a stretch but I can allow it for the sake of the crossover. He is the ONLY metahuman exception I can allow to be on the show, I draw the line at aliens.

Quick side question: Are you starting to get tired from this conversation like me? Because I'm feeling exhausted lol Can we just agree to disagree? :D

    ReplyDelete
  64. Okay, but you can explain Krytonian abilities scientifically. But yeah I'm getting kinda tired.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Okay, but you can explain Krytonian powers scientifically as well. They are the result of earth's atmosphere and yellow sun. Scientifically it's basically as (not) sound as a man with mirakuru powers.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Lol tell that to the Dark Knight Returns. Batman kicks his ass.

    ReplyDelete
  67. If I never write the word Mirakuru again it would be too soon lol

    ReplyDelete
  68. It is the obvious direction to take that character. If Arrow is going to finish after Oliver's arc on the island maybe that is the next step for them. IN the short term I am nervous about episodes 10-12 without Oliver...

    ReplyDelete
  69. In the Dark Knight Returns Batman using kryptonite and and a exosuit beats Superman. That's what probably gonna happen at first in Batman vs. Superman.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Is this a comic book? Cause I don't remember Superman showing up in the Dark Knight Trilogy. But I did try to claw my eyes out during the last one, so I might have missed something...

    ReplyDelete
  71. Yes it's a comic book.
