    probably the worst episode of the series so far


    - Klaus dad has zero charisma or screenpresence
    - Morgan and Tonkin are incapable of carrying the series
    - the Vincent subplot was pretty dull


    only Dhalias return is interesting

    Seriously??? Freya Mikaelson??? WTF???? For 5 freaking years!!! It's been AARON FREAKING MIKAELSON!! OLDER SON!! A BOY, A MALE, A SON!! Now they want to change it in one episode??? I hate when they do that shit. It really irks me. I wasn't happy about that piece of history.

    I didn't care much for this episode. I'm just glad Cami now knows that Vincent is Finn. And that Esther knows Mikael is alive. Her face was priceless! Take that bitch!

    Didn't care that Jackson returned, or that Oliver died. (His death looked pretty cool, tbh) and I liked Klaus being really concerned for Elijah. Wished Klaus would've broke Esther's neck! Didn't care for Talia either. The cliffhanger was kinda dull, imo.

    Best part of the episode....Klaus' father returning! Did NOT see that coming. Ohhh and playing Civil Twilight. Letters From The Sky! I loveee that song.

    Great episode and an even bigger big bad then Mikeal and Esther!

    Really wish we had more Elijah but I'm guessing he's on break to film saving hope.

    I wonder if we'leet Freya? Of Dalia (was that her name?) Comes back maybe Freya will come with her? Or are we supposed to believe she was killed/sacrificed for a ritual.

    Benefits of not watching TVD, all I knew was the first child died in Norway before they came to America. The youngest died here which is why Esther cast the spell. :D

    You may be right about you're first paragraph but my only problem with this episode is that just out of the blue they introduced someone apparently worst then Esther and more or less tried to justify her of trying to kill hope and less evil then she's suppose to be
    Now she has an evil sister

    The 5th year was the first year of The Originals. So if you knew that their eldest dies, then you knew it was a boy, b/c it was addressed last season as well. And Henrik was the one that got killed. But i have to disagree. Idt not watching TVD (when the originals was introduced) is a benefit at all.

    It is to me. I don't have any hangups about the characters pre Originals so I can judge them for who they are here not who they were there.

    If they mentioned in S1 that it was an elder brother that died I didn't remember and kind of don't care.

    Again to each his own. The characters of who they were on TVD never changed from how they're shown here. (bits and pieces but still the same) And with this show, the history is the same, (not including the major change they just pulled tonight) BUT with the people who've never seen TVD, and are just watching this. You get more dialog, and not action, and less of the story. With TO, it just kinda expands a little on what the other fans (the ones who watched TVD) already know. But they create it in different ways, and try to fill in tiny gaps, so it's still interesting, which i find to be a plus.

    I'm intrigued by the Dahlia story. I assume Hope surviving somehow brought Dahlia back and she will be responsible for... whatever problems make Rebekah return to NOLA in 2x08.


    Aside from that angle, all I care about is what part Elijah will play in this mess. Esther let him go way too easily.

    Poor Elijah is such a brudesmaid character. Can't be the linchpin even during his own captivity.

    I don't know what all the "fuss" is about, but I didn't even remember the "first born" dying in Finland or Iceland..........or was it Sweden (don't rip me apart for that "Original Diary Gang") let alone what the kids gender was (points - I do remember Henrik was the youngest and was killed by werewolves, so there lol)! High points this episode - Esther's elder sister being even more powerful and evil/crazy than she is/was. I want to know more about this "firstborn" (Freya) who really isn't dead after all...........whatever the gender is/was suppose to be. Low points of this episode was......NOT ENOUGH ELIJAH! And last.........the actor playing Klaus' father.........I was really wanting Manu Bennett (Deathstroke/Arrow and Crixus/Spartacus) to be Esther's "Native lover", but no series can be perfect I guess. Excellent episode even without enough Elijah and............I still miss "Bex", so there I said it AQUARIUS! 4 THE ORIGINALS, THE COPIES, AND ALL THE REPEATS, I am Nobody!!!

    I feel like the writers don't understand what the fans want to see. People loved the characters on TVD and wanted their history expanded on, not retconned and wanting the actual Originals - not these other actors.

    They keep changing things and retconning established cannon and that's not at all what we want to see.

    Dahlia came back to get Hope. As Esther's deal with her was that Dahlia can take the first born, in exchange for Esther being allowed to have children. Dahlia in fact gets the first born of each new generation.

    The oldest child was only ever called a child. The sex was never mentioned. In regards to 10, the sister would've just killed Niklaus, Elijah and Rebekah. In regard to eight that'll never happen due to Finn's personality and goals.

    YES IT WAS!!! It was confirmed numerous times! I wouldn't be so pissed about it if it wasn't confirmed throughout all the years we watched the freaking show! HE was killed BY the plague which is WHY they MOVED in the first place. HE was their first born. Aaron was the first to die. Henrik was the last. It's been branded for years and airing one episode changing the entire history of the Mikaelson family just to fit their stupid SL isn't going to change that. I know I'm not the only fan that didn't notice that tonight. I do suspect I will read complaints about it on other sites.

    The show is all over the place right now.The ratings are not a surprise.Klaus bio daddy is alive...seriously?Esther had a daughter and not a son,seriously?And we'll see and Esther sister?What is next?Mikael's brother?Im kidding here but maybe I have to skip the season 2.I'm tired of Esther and her dialogues already.Someone kill her now....please.I don't care about the wolves and at all.They are not even a threat.
    Hayley can't be a main character,give her less scenes and stop forcing Cami into everything.It's not good for her character.Let her be an independent person with her own story.
    I'm very disappointed about this season.Everything is weird.

    That it was a good episode. Did not like the lack of Elijah though. Was happy that Haley was concerned for Elijah and I was happy when Klaus was the one to save Elijah and hot Gia, would rather had it been Haley but was happy it was Klaus. LIke Gia and Marcel together. Esther is still a psycho and I don't know what she did to Elijah and he was still past out and the next episode to. It was hard for me to watch when she slit his throat. I was sad that Oliver died I was stating to like him.. I guess there is another witch to worry about. Don't want them to hurt Hope.

    Ollie needed to suffer, but I didn't want him dead. That sucked.

    The ep only got interesting at the end. Klaus and his real father, and the revelations about his other sister and his aunt. Beyond that, this ep sucked.

For example Rebekah said, " My parents had just started a family, when a plague struck their homeland. They lost a child to it. They wanted to escape and protect their future family from the same fate.

    I enjoyed the episode, but I felt it was packed! too many new characters introduced! am not feeling Ansel/Klaus dynamic, the show doesn't need it, and certainly not more of Klaus daddy issues!

    not enough Elijah for me -.- I hoped the illusion lasted longer!

    Daliah is a potential, I love that they come up with better villains than TVD

    Esther didn't convince me with her story, you can't sacrifice one kid, in order to have the others!

    Cami....why? I loved her scenes until that stupid line about Finn having her as a weak spot! am angry at the stupid writer who thought of that line!

    am happy with Gia, and Marcel....indifferent abt Hayley!

    all in all, I liked it, definite 8/10 !

    They seem to have brought Ansel to give that part of the story a boost, but while I enjoy Klaus, I have no interest in his daddy issues beyond Mikael.

    I really thought that they mentioned that the first Mikaelson child was a boy. But I can't confirm it so I'll go with the fact that the sex wasn't ever confirmed. I'm not saying that I need to see Finn bond with the family but I just feel like we're so caught up in the history and so many subplots that I'm not feeling the connection between the characters anymore. The Ansel introduction feels forced...I'd rather Klaus have angst with Mikael.

    I don't think they actually mentioned "a son",,,because I rewatched the TVD episodes with Elijah and Rebekah telling Elena about their story,,,they said "a child"...i think it was only us,the fans/viewers who assumed it was a boy named Aaron and if you think about it,, fans wrote wikia which I believe where most of us read about that child

    This new witch better not take baby Hope. FLOVED the scene where Klaus was choking Esther over the baby.....Finally some emotion from him about the kiddie. This is going to be epic. The upcoming battle that is.

    Klaus actually was pretty good on showing emotion this epi. I loved how he hugged Elijah when he found him and then cradled him. He is really starting to open up.

    There was a continuity issue....where Elijah was walking out of the crypt.....when I thought he was passed out....

    Another twists I did not see coming. This season gets better with each new episode!!!!! Loved the scene when Klaus found Elijah - he shown his tender side! And the end scene with Esther just wow - his emotions where of a grieving father, suprised he didn't break her neck then and there!!!!

    He was never fantastic but always had a level of good acting, this season i don't feel it though.
    Gillies has a steady brilliant performance but I'm not sure if he could do better with the role of Klaus, maybe it`s truly the writing and not JoMo

    They had some amazing ideas in this episode with regards to the Hanzel and Dalia plotlines and I always love hearing about original history but did they seriously have to chuck this all into an episode? As much as I love the plot twists I think they need some character developing episodes. Maybe something that doesn't involve Esther. Man her speaches make me want to rip my ears out.

    Also please please PLEASE restore all of them to their original bodies. Seeing other actors play these characters just feels wrong... especially Kol :(

    I'm loving this. Just need to give Cami a good story. she's annoying right now. Waiting for elijah to wake up and hear what he thinks about everything that's going on. We need a damn love story. romanticly speaking. there's not. the only one: elijah and haley are now in pause. we need that back. klause need to knw what he wants. coz he mother seems sincere, maybe if he told her what he want her to do for him. if her sister comes back from whatever she's. They will need Ester to protect them. also mikeal and ansol and everybody.

    I'm loving the story, just some character that doesnt fit anymore to me, like cami and marcel. To convince elijah to be the leader of vampire, we dont need him. that little girl either. haley only have to ask him. and the cami klaus thing was horrible. now they trying with finn? well, I've to say I'm curious to know more about finn. if they do it well, it could be interesting, but they have to change cami personallity, es quite annoying to me.

    With all the flashbacks, I never thought she was that evil just because. I was waiting for the explaintion and it kind of suit her. I dont know why, but it does, so I'm glad she's not that bad.
    I'd like to know more about Mikeal and Ansel.
    What would happen when they found out the true, specially mikeal. sometimes he seem to love his wife, just to mad to act like a decent person. Ansel is all mistery. it was an alfa? if he was, would he have a new pack or just goes on is own?
    There's good story there. I cant wait for more. definitly more than TVD.

    I disagree, if there's anyone right now who could really reach Klause is Elijah. If she gets him, it'll be a huge step to get Klause.
    Klause cares about haley coz she's the mother of his daughter or Marcel coz is like a son to him, but the bond between him and Elijah is way stronger.

    As a viewer who watched TVD once in a while the retcon this episode did not bother me. Except I always thought the eldest child died of plague. So that maybe the lie Esther told to Mikael to cover her deception. I can live with that. So are we sure Freya is dead? Or will we see another branch of Mikaelsons.


    Klaus's dad is back from the dead? I wish they had casted a little bit more older looking guy. This guy does not look old enough to be Klaus's dad and to give competition to Sebastian Roche.


    Esther is bat shit crazy. Every thing that happened to this family is her doing. She calls her sons monsters while she stands there slitting their throats, breaking their necks and killing their child. I wish Klaus had broken her neck.


    So is Gia interested in Marcel? Why does this girl's scene with every male has sexual undertones to it.


    So Jackson is back and Ollie is dead. I was warming up to Oliver. Jackson and his brooding is boring as is all the werewolf clan and their ever changing loyalties. I liked how hard Hayley tried to save Oliver. I like it that Hayley's loyalty to werewolf's never wavers. Missed Elijah this episode but loved the way Klaus was caring for Elijah for a change when he saw Elijah chained up. He is slowly showing emotions.


    Now finally to Cami. I love Leah Pipes. She is a solid actor and I think Cami has some good chemistry with Klaus. But this character is so out of place in this show of strong supernatural creatures. There is no need for a token human here. Give her some powers. At least give her a power to sense supernatural creatures. And on top of that to think she is Marcel, Klaus and now Finn's weakness. urgh...


    All in all this episode was all over the place. Too much information dump and establishing new back stories to old back stories.

    Very late to this. But here goes:

    I thought there was a bit too much exposition for one episode - important mythological info was dropping left and right and I had to concentrate so as not to miss anything.

    I know others have spoken about retcons but others have also spoken about a Big Bad even worse than Esther and Mikael. Looks like we are getting it and I am very pleased with the direction of the show.

    Liked Klaus, Hayley, Marcel. Cami did get into a spot of bother but kept her head.

    Also liked the Klaus and Esther scene near the end where he tells her that coming after his child was the deal breaker.

    Don't know how I feel about Klaus' real dad but with Mikael also in the land of the living, this could be a great story line.

I know as a hardcore fan (as we all) that's not much to go on, butI SWEAR it was mentioned a few times. Sigh. Just forget it, really. I'm truly over it. I'm just getting out of work, (longest day ever on 3. Hrs sleep) i just want to wait for The Flash. And SPN.

    I was just confused that Esther mentioned Kol being older than Rebekah, always thought - by the looks - it was the other way around and Kol has been the youngest (surving) Original.

    I am a big Elijah and Haley fan but I was happy that Klaus saved him
    rather than Gia, what some people were saying. KInd of like Gia and
    Marcel together. I can not like Esther after what she did to Elijah and
    when she slit his throat that was hard to see. It was nice that Klaus
    finally saved his brother after all the times he saved him, it would be
    nice after all the times Elijah saved Haley she would have saved him but
    she wanted to. Had a feeling she wouldn't but loved the scene with the
    brothers. Would love next week if Haley would show that she cared about
    him maybe holding his hands looks like Elijah had a change of shirt
    would be nice if Haley helped him (wishful thinking) I am a romantic at
    heart. I want this couple to be slow burn. Don't know how Elijah is going
    to act and I don't know what Esther did to him. Like a darker but not
    to dark. Someone said that Esther spirit is inside of him I sure hope
    not, but I don't think so. I guess next season will be fighting against
    the sister. Poor Baby Hope. Interesting that Klaus father is still loved. Not a fan of Jackson

    This storyline is a bad idea overall. We've had to accept for two shows now that our protagonists are vicious monsters. Questioning that fundamental fact doesn't lead to anything but dissatisfaction. Hell no, I don't want Klaus human from a story point of view, but we need to believe he would kinda like to be not a monster, that he strives towards humanity as a character arc. It ruins the leads giving the villains the moral high ground.


    I hate this entire story. I hate that I am forced to try to remember silly plots details from years ago because I'm constantly going, "What? That doesn't make sense, didn't they say....before?" And even when I remember them, they've changed now--suddenly. The timelines don't fit, they keep changing things. At one point they had Kol older than Elijah. What is going on with the continuity? But most importantly, I genuinely hate Ester. Not love to hate, not appreciate my hatred for a villain. I hate her. She makes no sense and her story is in constantly flux. 1) Why would your kids trust you, you've spent 1000 years trying to kill them? 2) Why would you think that they would be the same people they were a 1000 years ago even if you did put them in mortal form? 3) And even if they did decide, hey yeah let's start over, why would they forgive you for all you've done?and on and on. She's almost as bad as Mikael but he is at least fairly consistent in wanting his kids dead and not deviating from the bastard/monster rationale. They need to get Ester and Mikael together. They are both culpable and working the same ends and constantly playing against each other.

    TVD is the same way. Stefan & Damon are both horrible people and monsters, and now so is Elena.

    I think it works all the characters are just shades of grey and there's no good vs evil at all. The problem is that Julie Plec tries to make the the characters heroes (and calls them that) even though they're the furthest thing from that.

    from TVD/TO wiki says, they have only just confirmed that Finn was older in this episode, before that it was never said who was older only debated. Kol also refers to Rebekah in TVD as baby sis, that was confirmed he was older from the start :).

    What has happened to this show? This is such a sorry state of affairs when the whole Mythology SL,, has been altered to beyond recognition.

    Do the SOD''s (sisters of doom:) & Narducci, not realize that there are those of us whom are familiar with the "Original" back family history.

    Aaron,, being the first born son to die of the plague,, has now turned into a female taken away by her wicked Aunt in repayment for a special spell, so that Esther may have children.
    NOW,, we find out that the first born of every generation must be turned over to Dehlia, Denali, whatever,, and this is the way they are going to explain away Hope's,, reason for being supposedly sacrificed??
    Come on,,. I gave this show 1 more chance to be fair,, but I'm done. Way-to-go J.P. for RUINING another program!!
    They should have continued with the back flashes. That would have been sufficient and way more entertaining.. Lenora as Esther is so not working. Callub as Kol and so on. I am hugely dissapointed in the vein this show has taken.

    Well, the dream has now been made a reality,, but what do they do. They use the character name Aaron,, on TVD,, so of course the SOD's screwed themselves on using that name again. So,, Change the name? why not change the gender, and Age.? Unbelievable!!!
    Moving on,,
    Mr.M abusing Nicklaus was way before Henrik was killed,, which I am sure they will now show that Klaus killed Henrik,, accidentally of course,, But this revelation will come through his dreams & or Nightmares.
    This show has totally bailed on it's "Original" SL Too introduce a new SL,, and to think that will work???? "Delusional".!!!!

    If You are enjoying it,, I certainly don't want to rain on your parade,, but I did give it 1 more ep.

If they tell some story where Klaus killed Henrik I will be pissed. This episode didn't bode well for me, and tbh, I'll have to watch it again to get all the "New info" on Esther and her background. I am sorry that THIS specifically had to be your last episode, Smh not a way to convince you to stay on board. BUTTTT I would say at least give it to the season finale, uhhhh, MID-Season finale. (Sorry) Mid-finale would be fair, it'd be half the season. But if you want to stop here and now, well I can't stop ya. But we still have TVD.     Sooooo not into the shipping hate that goes on. Like whichever couples you like. I personally am not a fan of any at the moment. However.....I would like the parents to be parents to baby Hope. If that is in a relationship or not....makes not difference to me. Two damaged beings that end up with child have to be responsible parents. This is an important lesson that needs to be extolled upon the audience. Does not matter if they are together or not.

    That's what makes it fun. I was into Hayley and Elijah getting together....but now not soo much. I think each of the characters have too many issues to work out to be in relationships at the moment. Just my opinion of course. So I am happy to see how much of this stuff plays out.
