  1. I enjoyed that. Okay I chuckled at the idea of Hercules secretly protecting Jason (where did I come that across again?), but what a different feel to the season! It has all gone "serious". And what happened to Ariadne? She says "Thank you very much" to Jason for risking his life to get back the Palladium, but then she is sorry that he is not of royal blood and gives him a heartless bye bye?
Looking forward to Jason getting seriously annoyed next time when that handsome Prince comes along.

  2. I preferred the end to the start of the episode, the last act was very strong I thought where as the cave stuff and first battle dragged a little. I guess Ariadne has to be strong otherwise other nobles like Sarpedon will take advantage of her but she won't be so lucky next time?

  3. Isn't Jason actually of royal blood since his mother is Parsiphae, daughter of the king of Colchis (sp.?)? Not that anyone but his parents know that though - unless he found out in tonight's episode which I shall see in a few hours.

  4. Yes he is, but as you he doesn't know that as he was unconscious when his parents spoke it in front of him last season. Only they and the Oracle know about it up until the start of this episode.

  5. I thought that was the strongest episode of the whole series thus far. Except the trio's journey back to Atlantis went on a tad too long. I hope Vincent Regan's character of Dion sticks around because he adds some much needed grit and power.

  6. And now at least one other knows.

  7. I finally watched last week's episode and this episode together. Oh yea that felt good. Loved the adventures of the Trio.

I'm glad the magic/power/prophecies/mythical beings are playing a bit bigger role this season. You can't just say touched by the gods and never show much. So glad Pasiphae, Madea, Jason and The Oracle displayed that visually.
    - I knew there were dragon like beings from the Pilot episode so I wasn't too surprised by the winged creature. Just keep them coming.

As I suspected I knew I wouldn't care much for Ariadne given that she is now all sacrifice for the people I must become cold kinda of person. She did her part well I'll give her that. And I don't hate her its just I don't care much for her.
Then there is Madea I'm just scared of a future with her. But I liked her so far. Them eyes of her are pretty fiery!
If only Atalanta was a regular character. Jason does still have to cross path with her again tho right, that better happen.

And how about that Pasiphae, good to know she cares for Jason enough to kill her own. I liked that part a lot. And I liked how Hercules witnessed it, and now he will be the savior of the savior.

The war stuff and the fighting was great, I liked how the Trio by now are able to handle themselves highly well. Tells that they have had adventures in between seasons.
    - The Fallen Soldiers swamping was interesting, I've heard about it but haven't seen much of it in movies or TV, so I like that.
    - But the Atlantis Soldiers who flee were dumb, like I know Palladium is special to them, and it may protect them via the good force* but many other kingdoms in their world don't have that but I doubt they flee during war.

Next week: ah shit. another battle. I'd be a little pissed if Jason actually looses the fight, I again I don't care if he looses the girl, but the fight!

  8. The special effects are pretty good, I'm kind of disappointed that there will be less of them this year, especially as when they go and use two in the opening episodes. Both the dragon and the Cyclops looked great, and they interacted well with the characters too.

I'm hoping Atalanta makes a return too, the Argonauts seem to be gathering after all so it would make sense. She'd also be a more preferable love match for Jason than one of his family, but hey ho!

I wonder if Hercules will tell Pythagoras the news about Jason, I'm not sure it will be something he can keep to himself. If Jason then finds out that his two best mates have kept the secret from him, that will probably be what makes him angry enough to turn his heart black and fulfil the prophecy imo... lol

  9. I'm enjoying Regan, I was kind of expecting him to be the usurper inside the court when I heard he was cast but he seems very loyal. He's also upping Ariadne's game in her scenes imo, that last one where she told him that he must find Pasiphae and kill her was chilling :)

  10. I thought the exact same thing when I heard he had been cast and expected him to have some sort of treacherous role because he is such a strong actor instead of this one of the loyal commander. He stalwartly improves her scenes. They were lucky to get him.

  11. Indeed, I complete agree with you. I think that he greatly improves the court scenes, and I hope that he is continued to be utilised a great deal more than Siddig was last year. It's worked well in these two opening episodes.

  12. Not a bad episode this week, I got into it quicker than I did last week, which is good news as far as the rest of the series goes.

Herculies learning about Jason has moved things forward a bit, as has Ariadne seemingly saying goodbye to Jason ( as if ) in order to be a committed Queen to her city and Pasiphae once again not wanting to kill her own son. There's actually secondary storylines that I have some interest in now.

The actress playing Ariadne is getting better and Jack Donnelly wasn't too bad either, still not good IMO but decent enough.

Nice to see Hercules being allowed to show real bravery this time round.

I still hope that we have one or two lighter episodes at some point in the series because I quite enjoyed some of the humour in S1 and it would give viewers a bit of a break from almost constant fighting and war..

""I wonder if Hercules will tell Pythagoras the news about Jason, I'm not sure it will be something he can keep to himself. If Jason then finds out that his two best mates have kept the secret from him, that will probably be what makes him angry enough to turn his heart black and fulfil the prophecy imo... lol""

It'll be interesting to see whether this dilemma does come up for Hercules.

  14. I agree that Jack Donnelly still needs to bring it home, he's good at the fighting but needs more acting chops still imo. He's OK, but as lead I'd prefer a stronger actor in the role personally. Especially if they are going to up to dubious things like snogging their sister and cousin, viewers need some reason to stay tuned in and if both the acting and the story are a bit dodgy they probably won't unfortunately, Last night only got 3.62 in the overnights, they need record number catchup figures and to attract more viewers!

I am enjoying Hercules being more brave and like his Greek namesake, it's a slow journey with his offering to leave Jason behind and pushing Pythagoras pff the cliff into the water. But an overnight transformation wouldn't work, so it's on the right path as far as I can see.

  15. That last paragraph, that's usually what happens.
