  1. That DJ subplot was just so bad omg. Is this what Thea's storyline is supposed to be lmao? Also some of the Olicity stuff was heavy handed at times but it was okay. Don't really like the angst. Really liked Amy Gumerick as Cupid. Good performance by her. Ray Palmer is going to become ATOM.!

  2. "This wednesday on The Arrow Diaries, will Oliver finally give in to his feelings for Felicity? Can the reasonable voice of Diggle pimp up the hope of Olicity more for Oliver? Will Thea kiss every employee of hers? Will Felicity go for the one rich guy or the other rich guy? Have the writers lost their focus? Oh and some shooting stuff.....catch the dramatic and heartwarmingly romantic "The Arrow Diaries" only on theCW"

  3. Haha good one ! XD

  4. Two words : Atom, Captain Boomerang ! :D
A minus point for Oliver catching Raylicity kiss : too classic scene ! I wish Felicity meet Oliver in that blue dress instead !
A plus point for Cupid, awesome villain !
A plus point for a jealous Oliver (Can't help it, I'am an Olicity fan)

  5. wow, what a great episode! One of the best of the show so far! I gotta say, i wasn't so sure about Ray in the beggining, but i'm really liking him now! And Ray and Felizity kiss...wow! gotta say, great scene!

And Felicity was so beautiful today!! omg, that dress!!! And the Atom in the end..so good! Can't wait to see more about him!

Cupid was a lot of fun in a very crazy way! I guess it is not the last time we see her! lol

    ReplyDelete
  6. that DJ plot felt like they had some screentime to fill and just edited it in as filler.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Dat back tho, let's face it: EBR is the hottest chick this show has to offer.
Still the romantical focus of the episode felt like swallowing a batch of nails, even Cupid was a mere plotdevice to push the romantic angle

    ReplyDelete
  8. Well, i knew this ATOM was going to be an undercover Blue Beetle(but his strenght is from the suit).

    ReplyDelete
  9. Beyond Ray being creepy, this episode was pretty good!

    ReplyDelete
  10. And EBR has chemistry with literally everyone!! wow! :)

    ReplyDelete
  11. I might be a bit mean with this but I want her to meet Merlyn and then start a classic TVDesque triangle, it's not what this show needs but what we, the fans, deserve

    ReplyDelete
  12. It was just so bad. Like wtf. And then the kiss? Malcolm better kill that douche DJ

In a word? Absurd. The scenes with Ray and Felicity have been so anticlimactic, absurd and forced that it is impossible to believe. Who wrote this episode? It's the first time I can say that I did not like Felicity Smoak :( I can not believe that she applaud at the interview and she seems as the most loyal employee when that company was of Oliver. The dinner scene and her words to Ray made want to vomit. I say this because it seems incomprehensible that she knows Ray more than everyone else, it makes no sense.

Cupid has been great, she saved a little the episode. Amy is a fantastic actress, I knew it since from Supernatural! She was sooo crazy!

Just Oliver watching the kiss seems so unreal, too comfortable, writers, right? I find that the don't have respect to the fans. Always promoting Olicity, always giving hope and then they do things like this. What the fuck are you playing, producers? The reason that Oliver does not want to be with Felicity doesn't hold the story any longer.

    ReplyDelete
  14. lol hahaha good one

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think that Malcolm hired him to keep an eye on Thea

    ReplyDelete
  16. Cupid is now being trained as a member of the Suicide Squad? I hope some serious therapy comes with that training. There was some Iron Man action happening when Ray was looking at the computerized 3-D rendering of his A.T.O.M. exosuit. I feel badly for Oliver, but he created this situation. Felicity has always been upfront where she stood and how she felt about Oliver. On the other hand, Oliver has kind of been stringing Felicity along depending on his emotional state. It's time for Oliver to move forward with Felicity or let her go. If he lets her go, Oliver needs to be okay if Felicity becomes involved with another man. No more of this passive aggressive stuff on Oliver's part towards her.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I agree about the DJ plot..and the kiss with him and Thea..so weird and rushed..

    ReplyDelete
  18. yeah, they really didn't change the script much from Kord to Palmer.
Still Ray is probably the best part of this season so far, what drives me insane with romantic overtones Ray reduces with being Doc Brown

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't think that this was an episode that Olicity fans like you and haters of romance heavy stuff like me enjoyed much.

IMO it was a snoozefest and proof that the show would blow Olicity out of proportion.
There's hope though, I think that in the second half we'll see a slower romantic approach for Olicity wich for all should turn out better

    ReplyDelete
  20. God I hope so. Anything other than that is just going to annoy me.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I honestly really liked this episode, I loved crazy Cupid and I liked the pace of this episode. I know some people may argue there was too much Olicity but it didn't bother me. Everyone thinks Ray is creepy, which I completely get, but I think he is just someone the writers are using to compare Oliver too he is not a serious romantic relationship or a permanent fixture on the show, so he doesn't bother me. Unfortunately I did not see this chemistry between Thea and Austin Butler's character that they were hyping up. Also back to creepy Ray I feel like he just represents the perfectness (in his own wierd) way Oliver's life could have been, the hero billionaire who manages to have a life. I know some people are in unhappy with Felicity being on "Ray's side" when it comes to the company but lets face it Palmer is way more to be running the company than Oliver ever was. All in all I liked this episode.

    ReplyDelete
  22. One good thing.No Laurel.

Obviously for GA they want people to think Ray Palmer IS villain when we know he will become the atom a hero.

Come on people get Oliver and felicity together. The he can't be with any women is getting old.

Plus when Laurel becomes black carney I will need something to make up for that.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It would make sense...totally a thing the Malcom would do..

    ReplyDelete
  24. good grief, she doesen't even show up and gets hated on...

    ReplyDelete
  25. I loved it. And I'm sure there will be people who disagree, and that's fine by me.

Felicity's "I have a type" line made me crack up.
I loved Oliver calling Roy "Arsenal". They hinted at that last week but I love that it's official.
    Cupid was freaking fantastic.
Olicity fan here, so, yes, I enjoyed Diggle being all supportive. Maybe a bit too heavy-handed with the Oliver angst, but not so much that I can't ignore that.
    Strong Felicity is my fave.
Dinner with Palmer and Felicity felt rushed, but again, EBR and Routh played it so well that I can excuse it.
Sorry, writers, but have Oliver witness their kiss? I predicted that last week when the promo hit. Not really a twist.
    ATOM suit was awesome.
Love the mention of Cupid on the Suicide Squad. Hope they revisit that eventually.
Oliver and Roy joining Diggle family dinner was awesome.

Overall, I was hooked and I didn't look away from the screen. I enjoyed it and that's a great episode to me. Not without its faults, but Arrow is my favorite show. I will always look forward to whatever the writers have to offer.

Side note: Is it just me, or do the flashbacks fit in especially well with the present story this season? I've always liked them but they're practically seamless this year. Just my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  26. or Ra's since he now knows that Merlyn has a daughter, it must be connected to that arc otherwise I just hate this episode...

    ReplyDelete
  27. I get you don't like romance, but that is a very important part on the hero's journey, in literature(independant if it's done right or not).

There will always be romance... For people that don't like it, there's always other episodes. The truth is the only heavy Olicity episodes were 3x01 and 3x07... 2 episodes out of possibly 9 isn't that bad.

Just saying. I would like if they drop the angst now. That storyline doesn't have much steam. Pairing them off would be better already. Making Oliver a bit more open is something i would love to see(like the way he was on the premiere).

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think it was just this episode that tied in well with the theme of the episode.

btw. LOVED that scene with Katana slicing through the mobsters, really well choreographed

    ReplyDelete
  29. Obviously literature can't exist without romance, BUT the issue with that episode as one thing only was that it was overloading as, almost like popping a load of cinnamon into your face.

I wouldn't mind them planting small scenes throughout the entire season instead of forcing entire episodes on us.

    also 3*05

    ReplyDelete
  30. I can totally relate to Laurel haters on season 1 right now. It is just so difficult to enjoy a character when everything about her is about romance and you don't give a s*. I am sorry guys, I understand you know.

    ReplyDelete
  31. hahaha, that was funny! But seriously..I like how the producers even said in several interviews before that the Romance in the show would be always in the background..and i aapplaud them for that..this was one episode that was heavy romeance, but in Arrow there are several one that don't have any romance subtext, so i think the producers and writers are doing great! Let's not forget that this is still CW, so lol

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ambar Moreno Candelas20 November 2014 at 02:23

Yes, but I'm not just talking based on Olicity. I also talk about how Ray and Felicity act tonight. All so forced... it makes no sense. It is no longer just for the Olicity and slow burn, it's for the mistakes that I just saw on the characters.
I just hope that Oliver is not going to be a coward and an idiot and do something. Because I don't buy that Felicity and Ray 'fall in love' with each other in only one episode, when they don't have any kind of romantic chemistry in the other episodes. Even the kiss was too fast.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Bit of a mixed bag for me, I hated that there was no Laurel, and that Thea was wasted on a pointless sub plot AGAIN, and the Olicity stuff was a complete retread of stuff we've seen before, and they seriously need to figure out what to do with Diggle. But there was a good few things I liked. The fact that they showed Roy feeling guilt over killing that cop, when a lot of shows would have just moved straight past it. I rarely like the flashbacks, but this week really interested me, and we finally got badass Katana. As much as it was purely used to serve Olicity angst, I enjoyed Ray and Felicity. I know full well, Olicity is more than likely the endgame, but Emily and Brandon have great chemistry, so I'll happily have them together for a while, at least until Oliver gets over his issues. And possibly the best part of the episode: Amy Gumenick as Cupid! She was brilliant, and I hope she comes back soon! Also Captain Boomerang! YAY!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I get it with this episode, still I'm kind of pissy at the poor decision not to create a romantic subplot over the whole season.

Giving us the full load in 4 episodes is dull, spraying what they have over 22 episodes would fit better IMO

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think the issue is that Felicity seems to be the ultimate attraction these days.
Fans started hating Laurel during the Oliver/Laurel/Ray triangle, why? Because she was that annoying focus.
Felicity is now falling into this exact trap, too many love interests burrying her character.

It was a fear I had when the season was promoted to us as Olicity heavy because we all know: romance on theCW is always paired up with character assassination and triangles.

Felicity is still awesome, luckily. But I fear for her character

    Ray however, I just love

    ReplyDelete
  36. It's not just me with Diggle, right?
Either he's just the guy giving motivational speeches and then going back to the background or the guy pimping up romantical aspects.

I love the guy but I kind of fear that they're going to kill him off, lord knows this show loves to kill off one main character each year. And Diggle is currently the (I hate to say this) most redundant (in terms of storylines)

I didn't miss Laurel, she's away training and this is perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I didn't saw too much of them on 3x05 except 1 little scene and the one in the end.

That i think is a problem the writers brought to themselves. Instead of doing the show's concept like Season 2(just like you said: one little scene per episode) they went to do episodes with a centric trident(for example, 3x02 was Laurel/Oliver/Sara; 3x03 was Diggle/Thea/Felicity; 3x04 was Laurel/Malcolm/Nyssa; 3x05 was just for Felicity; 3x06 was Roy/Laurel/Ted; 3x07 was Oliver/Felicity/Ray). That is a double edge blade.

Doing that you can make better character centric episodes putting some of them on the background, but the problem is with things like Laurel's training or Oliver and Felicity's relationship. When it's their turn they need to pack everything on one episode.

I don't think it's a problem of the story/characters per se, but the way the season is conceptualized. That works well on a procedural show, but on a serialized one it doesn't work well since you have to put a hold on some stories.

    ReplyDelete
  38. It drives me crazy, really. The whole way he behaves is more Kord-like. I tought DC would release a Blue Beetle movie, but now i don't understand way they couldn't get the rights for Kord.

It's annoying... It's getting on the way of me enjoying the character.

    ReplyDelete
  39. this full blown centric episode type thing is a downside, really

if you have 2 different genres colliding on ONE show you can't just expect a positive outcome

Romance can easily be there on a semi-serialized level though, ongoing flirtations would fit even on a procedural

    ReplyDelete
  40. I know he's never been one to get many solo storylines, but it's getting ridiculous. And I agree, if any regular were to be killed off, it's him. All the other characters have obvious storylines coming up, although I wish they'd hurry up and tell us exactly what Thea's is supposed to be. But yeah, Diggle has zero use right now.

And yeah, Laurel's training. But I'd have happily watched an 8 minute training montage than. Have to sit through another pointless Thea subplot.

    ReplyDelete
  41. DC really messed up on this one, I just don't get it. Blue Beetle isn't exactly a top tier DC character.

hell the simple fact that the writers have to fight for being allowed to use characters sucks...

    ReplyDelete
  42. I enjoyed this episode!

I LOVED the heart shaped arrow in the intro XD It was perfect for the episode. Also, Amy Gumenick knocked it out of the park as Cupid. She portrayed the mentally unstable Carrie Cutter perfectly. And I'm glad that they left her storyline open for a big return in the future episodes. Will she join the Suicide Squad the next time we see her?! Awesome!

The references in this episode made me smile so much. Sherwood Florist and "Lyla said Cutter is even nuttier than the last woman they had in the Suicide Squad". That was totally a nod to Harley Quinn :D

The emergence of Atom is officially coming! Woohoo! Can't freaking wait to see Ray Palmer in his suit. And I definitely felt there was a Tony Stark vibe when he was looking at the holographic image of the suit. Pretty cool. I know Ray gets shit on a lot in the fandom but I like him so far.

Guy who's a DJ and I don't even know his name has to be one of the worst characters Arrow has ever done. Holy hell, that whole secondary plot with him and Thea was so damn weird. Please have Oliver, Daddy Merlyn, or Roy kill you so you don't ever come back.

Awwww, seeing Oliver and Roy going over to the Diggle's to have dinner was so sweet. I loved it so much. Oliver needs to forget about Felicity for a little bit and just have some down time with his friends.

Captain Boomerang!! I was so damn surprised when he popped up at the end. Really looking forward to seeing him in The Flash/Arrow crossover!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Diggle was out of line to go to Felicity to tell her about how he thought Oliver was feeling. Totally out of line. What is Felicity supposed to do?

    ReplyDelete
  44. That was because he was well integrated, Roy pretty much made Diggle...redundant :(
Dig was the backup, the side-kick. Now Roy took this position and Diggle really has no use anymore...what sucks a lot because if I got to choose between Roy of Dig, it'd ALWAYS be Dig.

true, however: the longer we don't see her the bigger the surprise when she beats up a thug in full blown BC attire *_*

    ReplyDelete
  45. I was actually about to make a #teampsychiatristwithballs hashtag

man, woman had some mayjor balls telling a guy with bows and arrows that he needed therapy

    ReplyDelete
  46. Agree. The way they're doing the narrative this season isn't a good one. They need to realize that streching the storylines sometimes is better.

Makes me wonder if this is because they want to do way too much this season. I'm liking the storylines(Especially Laurel's and Oliver becoming more "human" with Felicity) but the truth is they're very poorly executed.

PS: embrace yourself, Mac! Stephen Amell said the "most amazing Olicity scene is coming on the next 3 episodes(most likely 3x09)". I totally want to see your reaction to that Jajajaja

    ReplyDelete
  47. Dig has been turned into the literal cupid of the show, hell. All he now needs are a bunch of adult diappers, a bow, cupids arrows and he's set to run around screaming "Oliver and Felicity need to be together, lalalalala"

    ReplyDelete
  48. Great episode! Defiantly one of this seasons best!

    ReplyDelete
  49. The images.....make them stop!

    ReplyDelete
  50. This season is overall rather underwhelming, kind of dissapointed.

I think the writers went with a 2 season approach, first season until episode 9 and the other after the mid-season finale.
If there is really a timejump then i could see that being the case

I don't mind Olicity as long as it's done at the right pace, this season things between them felt incredibly rushed (what could have been prevented through seasoning the season with one or two Olicity scenes each episode, way better than blowing it all in mahhh face)

    ReplyDelete
  51. I loved the Diggle family dinner - so adorable. I was a huge fan of Ray and I still am, but buying Felicity with those expensive gifts... not cool. I also thought it was pretty out of character that she was impressed by that, since when does Felicity care about that kind of thing?

    ReplyDelete
  52. I quite enjoy the thought of that. We were all asking for a costume for Dig, weren't we? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ambar Moreno Candelas20 November 2014 at 02:51

I really don't like the love triangles in general, that is something that should go away in the CW.
The triangle of Oliver/Laurel/Ray? Laurel? Sorry, I don't know what you mean. What happen with Laurel here? When did Laurel and Ray know each other? What did I miss?

I love Felicity, she is the best female character created in Arrow. The writers have failed to her personality in this episode. I just hope it does not happen again.

I have nothing against Ray but to me, there's something about him... I don't know, I have to see more about him but for the moment he don't give me good feelings.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Similar to what Felicity did when she visited Diggle in Season 1 when Oliver and Diggle were on the outs. So why was it out of line?

    ReplyDelete
  55. I know! I mean... Why the hell would they want Blue Beetle on film? Also, we're going to have 2 versions of Flash! Why couldn't they use him is just one of the most idotic things DC has done...

    ReplyDelete
  56. ooops sry, ment the Oliver/Laurel/Tommy triangle.
Got my good looking, dark haired, tux wearing guys wrong :P

    ReplyDelete
  57. Marvel is firing up DCs a**es movie-wise.

I actually think that DC is hiring, firing, re-hiring different consultants for their movie-verse each week. From what I've heard there's panic over there, MoS performed under expectations, wich is never a good sign for a big budgeted movie. That's why they made Batman v Superman, because obviously Supes couldn't carry a big movie on his own (as a Superman fan first I totally get why the movie didn't suceed though)

plans were certainly different last year

    ReplyDelete
  58. The epi was kind of bitter sweet. Oliver finally gets the courage to go find Felicity...and sees her kissing Ray. His face was priceless! I am glad however that Oliver has timidly decided to join the land of the living and finally go with Roy to Diggle's house for dinner....a life outside of the job of superhero.

    YAY Oliver!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Ambar Moreno Candelas20 November 2014 at 03:01

hehe Yeah, ok! I was a little lost on Ray/Laurel :P I think some fans were already upset with Laurel before that triangle, but it's true that the triangle made more ugly the situation with the character. To me, Laurel and Oliver were the only b**tches, Tommy was the poor guy there.

Ray is handsome but his expressions... lol

    ReplyDelete
  60. Oliver is not ready to live his life as of yet outside of being a superhero...he may never be....so is Felicity supposed to sit around and wait...possibly forever....

No she has to show him the roots to change...he needs her and vice versa, but he won't listen or talk about it unless he sees what life is like through her eyes.....

    ReplyDelete
  61. Diggle is a great friend....however, Felicity can't stick around waiting ....possibly forever.....cause Oliver is hard headed.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Yeah, Laurel and Oliver in episode 22 killed me.
I felt so bad for Tommy...

that's why I hate triangles, they pit characters AGAINST characters. Wich is something I don't want with my shows...

but apparently triangles create buzz :/

    ReplyDelete
  63. Lmao! Indeed she did. But she probably only had the balls, b/c she knew he wouldn't kill her.

    ReplyDelete
  64. The dinner scene was nice. I liked that.

    ReplyDelete
  65. she's a psychiatrist, she was probably on acid already. That's why she had the balls :P

    ReplyDelete
  66. One thing that I really liked about this episode was seeing Oliver, Diggle and Felicity working together like they used to and Roy has fit in nicely with the gang now so that's a plus. Like someone else mentioned it does seem as though the writers are at something of a loss with what to do with Diggle - there needs to be something more than just been the voice of reason or playing Dad to Oliver and Felicity's love life. For the record I am an Olicity fan but I don't want Diggle's role to be reduced to that on the show. He's a great actor and character - they need to find something more for him to do.

Loved Cupid in a bat s**t crazy sort of way....her and Helena Bertinelli should start a club!!! At least we know she will be back at some point down the line when the Suicide Squad make a return.

As far as Ray goes, I like his character, I'm just not totally sold on the whole attraction between him and Felicity yet. That whole scene between Ray and Felicity was pretty much a carbon copy of Edward Louis and Vivienne in Pretty Woman when she appears in her red dress before they go to the opera and he produces the diamond necklace which was almost the same. Hmmm...are they trying to say Felicity has hooker like qualities...lol!! I get what they were trying to do not sure that it worked in this case...nice try though!! It does feel maybe a tad bit rushed just to further the whole angst between Oliver and Felicity. And as the next episode is going to be the cross over and the week after that Oliver will go up against Rha's Al Ghul and disappear for 3 episodes I'm guessing that this will be it on the whole romance side of things for a while, at least until Oliver turns up in episode 12 or 13. I have to admit jealousy is a good look on Oliver...kinda like it. But dragging this out for the sake of dragging it out might backfire on them. Olivers reason for not being with her is now obsolete....he was coming to her to presumably tell her how he feels so not sure how much longer they can legitimately drag it out for. No more love interests for Felicity for the rest of the season. For 2 season's nothing and in the space of 7 episodes we've had Barry, Cooper, Ray and Oliver. I get it she's superhero catnip but the whole reason that she is such a loved character is because she is smart and strong and has great one liners. No need to reduce her to the show's love interest for every guy with a plus. Next up the crossover...should be fun!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Ambar Moreno Candelas20 November 2014 at 03:07

Yeah, me too!! Totally agreed! Poor Tommy :( You're right, love triangles sucks. You will always love one character and hate the other or feel sorry for the other.

    ReplyDelete
  68. A.T.O.M. suit, eh? Wonder if my theory will turn out to be true after all.

And speaking of theories…please dear lord, make Chase be a spy for Malcolm. Otherwise that plot line will be so, so, so, so, so freaking boring.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I love the chemistry between Ray and Felicity...I know a lot of people hate on Ray, but I really enjoy his character since he's basically a female Felicity. I hate that Oliver saw them though, I went from extremely happy to extremely hurt for Oliver and I didn't want to feel that way...

Side note: So Felicity has a new love interest, Thea has a new love interest, Laurel has a new love interest, Diggle is with Lyla...I think Oliver, Roy, and Quentin should start a lonely hearts club.

    ReplyDelete
  70. God, I enjoyed this episode so much. I missed Arrow Trinity so much. We had Diggle/ Felicity interaction. Diggle/ Oliver interaction. Felicity/ Oliver interaction. and the Roy/ Oliver interaction was perfect. Best of the season so far IMO. FINALLY. Wasn't pleased with this season at all. Just went from a C- to a B-.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Okay, let's see...

    The Good:
    - Amy Gumenick rocked the character of Cupid, playing deranged with flair. So she'll really become the 'poor man's Harely Quinn' now with joining Suicide Squad.
    - FINALLY some development for Rila Fukushima's Tatsu. With hints to her backstory (making powerfull people in Japan angry) and slicing up some mooks Katana-style. The Hong Kong flashbacks have otherwise been really dull and not really added anything to the season.
    - A.T.O.M exosuit. Okay then Mr.Kord... I mean Palmer.

    The 'meh..'
    - Most everything shipper related. Never a good sign when I pause an episode and instead check some comments.

    The 'waste of valuable screentime'
    - Thea/creepy DJ. There better be some good twist coming there.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Am I the only who doesn't want Olivier with Felicity??? Oliver needs to stay with Laurel....

    ReplyDelete
  73. Why? If you don't mind me asking.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Now i'm picturing it... I hate you so much! xD Jajajaja

    ReplyDelete
  75. Really when did he say that???

    ReplyDelete
  76. I Don't know never liked them together... They dont fit...I like Laurel better (I know everybody hates her lol)

    ReplyDelete
  77. I thought of Pretty Woman in that scene too. Just didn't want to point it out. B/c unlike Ray and Felicity, I love Edward and Vivienne, and they actually had chemistry. Plus the scene with the necklace was genuine. (As it was Richard joking with Julia and they left it in the final cut)

    ReplyDelete
  78. Well, i finished watching the episode:

    - Cupid was a cool character on the show. I didn't liked her on the comics. She joined the Suicide Squad. She is the replacement for Harley Queen, since they can't use her 'cause of Gotham. She was a good villain. Maybe the best developed in all of Season 3, so far.

    - I'm all for Olicity. I think that relationship is allowing to see a more human version of Oliver(being jealous, in touch with his emotions... The personal quest of Oliver is to find his humanity again), but cut it with the "will they/won't they". We already know a bunch of shows succeded in getting their couples together. The Moonlighting Curse is no more, for Pete's sake!
I get the whole Oliver pulls her away so Felicity goes to Ray Palmer as a rebound(it makes sense, a lot of people had done that in real life imo), but on the long haul we know that won't last. They are confident on streching Olicity 'till the Season Finale... Some advancement is gonna happen on 3x09, then Oliver is gonna go MIA, then a little advancement, two steps backs and so until 3x23... That's how tv works, sadly.

    - It's funny how on an Olicity centric episode, Diggle's task is doing some therapy with Oliver and Felicity. Some viewers don't like that... I do. He is the voice of reason, the man who has his life figured out. He's an example to Oliver. I like when he gives him advice on life.

    - REALLY, REALLY LIKED THE FLASHBACKS! Finally we saw Katana being Katana. I need my Oliver/Akio scene each week tough. I loved Oliver and Tatsu bonding. An incredible sword fight scene.

    - Ray Palmer... Oh, Ray Palmer... I love you and hate you at the same time. You're awesome but why in hell aren't you Ted Kord? Really? You're Blue Beetle on everything but name! Doesn't make sense AT ALL and it's driving me crazy! They didn't even changed the character... they wrote a Ted Kord named Ray Palmer. I hate that...

    - What the hell was Thea? I understand Katie Cassidy had the week off for some perosnal things, but i would have loved to see more of Laurel's training instead of that crappy storyline with the DJ. I was thinking he would be the male version/relative of Cameron Chase, but idk... It was so weird and pointless... It took you from the main story on a bad way, the pace was horrible.

    - Capt. Boomerang? Awesome!!! I love him already!

    - Loved the dinner scene... The point of that was Oliver finally opening up again? I hope so... This sad Oliver was annoying me already... We have that on Season 1. I want him to be a more laid back character... More like in the begining of 3x01.

Overall, not the best episode(I liked 3x04 and 3x06 better... This may be my third favourite of the Season). Too much Olicity packed on one episode(like every storyline this Season, so far). It would have been better if what happened today was distribuited along the episodes. This season is doing weekly storylines that should drag a couple of episodes...

  79. IMHO the hero's journey does not really need romance. It's not part of Campbell's description anywhere, nor does it appear classic examples of the HJ such as Luke Skywalker's in the original Star Wars trilogy.

Hewing away from Campbell and towards Arrow's source material, we can see that comics utilize primarily "episodic" romances, with iconic long-term romances increasingly being retconned out of existence (ex: Peter Parker/Mary Jane; Oliver Queen/Dinah Drake) or broken up (Superman/Lois), as they are seen as constraining the storytelling options with that character.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'm hoping there is more to Chase the 'dj' then meets the eye.

Im hoping Chase is actually Ra's al Ghul's son Dusan, or his grandson Damian Wayne.

( Damian's mother is Talia al Ghul, his aunt is Nyssa al Ghul, and his father is Bruce Wayne aka Batman )

    ReplyDelete
  81. Correction: Oliver Queen/Dinah Lance please. Comic book Oliver was never together with Dinah Drake (Dinah Lance's mother)

    ReplyDelete
  82. That would include acknowledging that Bruce Wayne exists in the Arrowverse. So far Nyssa seems to be an only child.

I don't care what they do with the distribution of the romance... This show is still one of the greatest on TV. The writers have a tendency to rush things like they are doing with Flash BUT they ALWAYS manage to surprise the audience. Is anyone noticing that Oliver is becoming slightly more humorous not a dreary as before. Oh and they always succeed in playing with everyone's emotions...at the end of the day you come back for more.

    ReplyDelete
  84. First thing that popped into my head when I saw that!!! Glad I'm not the only one...

    ReplyDelete
  85. That's what I'm hoping for .... a Bruce Wayne/Gotham City nod on Arrow and for Nyssa to have a half sister Talia and a brother Dusan.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Oliver feels like SA is adding more of himself into the character and being more lighthearted which if my comic book reference is correct is more in keeping with the GA character in the comic books than how the writers have been portraying him in the show so far!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Then I think Gotham over on FOX has to go of the air first.

Closest you get was Waynetech being mentioned on Harrison Well's 2024 newspaper on The Flash.

    ReplyDelete
  88. On the Arrow After Show for episode 3x06

    ReplyDelete
  89. ATOM IS COMING AWESOME!!!! lol his suit is taller than he is, overall it wasn't my favorite episode though too much olicity for my taste, roy and thea need to get back together or this DJ-Douchebag better be a plant so thea can kick his ass

    ReplyDelete
  90. Ok I remember that. I thought he was referring to tonight's episode!!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Nope. I was correct, as I was referring to the current status-quo -- New52 -- where Black Canary is Dinah Drake, and Dinah Lance is her married name, not her daughter's name.

    ReplyDelete
  92. No Laurel or Wildcat tonight!

Like being able to breath clearly after a cold.. So refreshing!

    - Oliver was in rage-mode tonight!
    - The look he gave Fernlicity was just tragic!
    - Anyone else think Ray Palmer may have OCD manscaping issues?
    - Ra's is bad ass, but does he need to speak in cliches?
Cannot blame Felicity for moving on..
Staying on Team Arrow while doing seems like a tense situation to me.

Cupid was a little stereotypical for me. Fun, but nothing new or original.
She should fit right in on The Suicide Squad. Gods save them! XD.
Loved the Harley Quinn shout out as well! XD

Great episode, but lacked something to make it awesome. For me at least.

    ReplyDelete
  93. How is that correct? You're refering to a relationship being retconned out of existance that never ever existed in the first place.

In New 52 Green Arrow and Black Canary don't know each other as far as I know (Don't really like New 52). With the Black Canary role having reverted back to Dinah Drake or Dinah Drake-Lance as she is commonly refered to as married in order to not confuse her with her daughter in the old continuity.

    ReplyDelete
  94. The relationship that is retconned out of existence is the Dinah Lance/Oliver Queen relationship. I am simply using the most recent name for each of them. It's not a radical thing to do.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Please no. Once was enough.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Diggle was never Oliver's sidekick. He occasionally helped in the field, but usually in the van or separately. Roy is Oliver's protege and field partner. It's reasonably different from Diggle's job.

    ReplyDelete
  97. There's one thing Felicity forgot to mention during the "everybody loves Raymond" speech and I'm kinda curious, Can he heal the dead as well?

    ReplyDelete
  98. what do you mean, is that a bash on palmer

    ReplyDelete
  99. Even Cupid? She was really hot.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Both Felicity and Ray actually.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Yeah she pedestaled the shit out of Palmer.

    ReplyDelete
  102. It is when you're completly mixing up your Black Canary versions.

    Two Black Canaries.

    1. Dinah Drake-Lance (Golden Age,The New 52). Never ever had any connection to Oliver Queen.

    2. Dinah Laurel Lance. (Silver, Bronze and Modern Age). Long time love interest of Green Arrow.

    ReplyDelete
  103. They should spend that screen time in the past, cuz that's way more interesting then that actor playing a dj

    ReplyDelete
  104. Awesome episode as usual and i loved Cupid.

    ReplyDelete
  105. When the first sneak peek came in I thought I will hate this episode so much. But I did not. This once again was an okay episode. That is 3 episodes in a row. I am looking at you Arrow. You are slipping. It's time to pick up the pace.

    The Good

    - Tatsu/Katana. It was great to see Rila Fukushima wield a blade again. That action scene at the docks was awesome.
    - Oliver actually acting like a grown up and not being self destructing after seeing Felicity/Ray kiss
    - Diggle/Oliver and Diggle/Felicity scenes. The bond between these three is awesome. And Lyla is as warm hearted as Diggle.
    - The way Oliver tried to take care of Roy.
    - Cupid was really good in whatever scenes she had
    - Loved Oliver broke his hand and escaped. You joined the club of Fusco and Grant Ward. Welcome.
    - I have a type - Felicity Smoak.. Yes you do. Felicity moving on after Oliver once again confirms he can't be with anyone
    - Heart broken Oliver. SA did good even though the whole thing was cheesy.
    - A.T.O.M. suit and the hologram. I told you they are going Tony Stark lite with this guy.
    - 6 month flashback to season 2 finale
    - BOOMERANG!!!

    The Bad

    - Thea/Malcolm story line was my most anticipated one this season. There is no movement there. What is Malcolm doing? What are his plans for the Queens and Starling City. I am pissed off because of this. Hear that show. I am PISSED!!!
    - The DJ and Thea. I hope this dude has some long game otherwise the most pointless story ever.
    - Felicity's reaction to the dress. Diamonds I can understand but the way she reacted to the dress urgh.. I lost a little bit of my love for her tonight.
    - I wish we had given a bit more attraction or admiration to Ray Palmer from Felicity before this episode. I liked her speech about Ray in the restaurant. It fits with what they have shown Ray is doing at Palmer Industries. But we never saw any growing admiration from Felicity's part before this episode.
    - Felicity/Ray kissing and Oliver witnessing the same. Not because the characters were wrong. It was so cheesy. I'd rather have some good dialogue between Oliver/Felicity than this.

All in all I enjoyed this episode because my expectations were very low. Thank you couture dress you saved the day. I wish cupid had done more bizarre stuff. I thought she might hurt Diggle, Felicity or Roy as they are Oliver's partners. We needed more growing feelings from Felicity's side for Ray before this episode. My heart hurt for Oliver so that was good.

In that one scene of Boomerang he impressed me more than the actor playing Ra's Al Ghul. I wish they had cast this guy for Ra's.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Overall great episode, I liked the flashback the part this episode much, I like swords, and wasn't one bit surprise Tatsu can use them lol. I did feel a little let down when Oliver got out the car, in could of been a scene of him handling those men post island/Slade Training experience, just became him being slightly beaten before Tatsu came. Was it so they can just show off Tatsu's skill?

I liked Cupid, they should definitely bring her back once in a while.

Ray doing those lift up things was a wtf really you too, funny moment.

That suit at the end and the Dwarf particle extraction from the mine. IC where this is going.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I would have loved to see Laurel and Ted training scene than that whole DJ story line. And Malcolm does not feel like a regular cast member yet. They need to give movement to that story.

    ReplyDelete
  108. poor man Harley Quinn - LOL. I already foresee some great Deadshot/Cupid scenes.

    ReplyDelete
  109. What Dig needs is a season long mystery or case for him specifically to work on. This is simply like last season. They are waiting for that one episode where they will dump information on us and give importance to Diggle. Also Malcolm!!! He is not even getting the Diggle treatment. Why can't they have few different on going story lines?

    ReplyDelete
  110. I'm really liking Ray/Felicity. I think the was quite a bit of foreshadowing about Ray becoming the Atom - I hope that happens sooner rather than later.

I have no idea what the deal with Thea's new DJ love interest is though. I don't even have a guess.

Cupid was okay. I wasn't that into her and I didn't hate her but it was just kind of meh for me.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I wouldn't say Roy took the position from Diggle. If you see last season also Diggle hardly was anywhere in the field. What Roy did is reduce Arrow's fight time. Now Arsenal also go to field so the fight scenes are spread between them. Roy hardly says anything in the foundry scenes except last episode.

They need to give him a seperate bad guy to investigate on or even show us Diggle going out and trying to get intel on H.I.V.E.. I like it when he works as a conscience for Oliver and I love his relationship with Felicity. But the dude needs to do more.

    ReplyDelete
  112. If it requires a romance with Felicity for us to see Merlyn's plans I am all for it.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I'm surprised with all the heavy-handed paralleling of Ray/Oliver that we're not really talking about it. I mean with the QC "has to be something else..." duh duh duh line and everything (Oliver busting up the Cupid arrow in frustration showed a lighter touch than the writers this episode). I think the episode is more successful and makes more sense if you don't look at it from the state of Oliver/Felicity relationship angle and look at it from the Oliver's character arc this season angle: can he accept being both Oliver Queen and the Arrow. His greatest fear. That entire arc in the first half of the season is being born out by Ray as the OQ stand-in. And Oliver watching as everything he used to be is taken away, including his team. If Ray steps in as a superhero, I think Oliver might implode.

I didn't enjoy Oliver's character regression, but I understand that he has to backslide to grow, and I'm enjoying the flashbacks because I think they are going to lend credibility to his issues (plus Wolverine chickie is sooooo awesome). But the whole talking through proxies the entire episode felt super juvenile to me, and since the cast has made a point of saying that they want to treat relationships in adult manners that bugged me. Other than that, it was a transition episode that didn't get much done, there were some great scenes, Cupid was pretty much what I expected (ick), Patriarch Diggle is awesome, and why did Thea's plotline even exist?

But most importantly, when did Starling City get a working subway again?

    ReplyDelete
  114. Agree. Diggle is backup, support wingman. Roy is protege, mentee.

    ReplyDelete
  115. This season desperately needs more Nyssa al Ghul.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I actually thought his character grew just a tiny bit this episode. He's actually letting his emotions in and he's learning that he needs people in his life especially when life gets shitty which is why he went to Digg and Lyla's place for that late night dinner. I hope we don't see Oliver regress anymore this season. I feel like they're starting to build a good foundation on his growth this season.

But yes, I enjoyed this episode too. Less because of Felicity/Oliver and more because Oliver is finally growing and slowly regaining his humanity.

I'm always a character first type gal. I hope to see that when Oliver and Felicity get their shit together individually, that's when we'll finally be able to see them have good/stable relationship between them. That's the only way I'll accept these two as a couple tbqh.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I feel like SA and EBR always rise above all the cheesy lines and tropes. I actually found Oliver finding Ray/Felicity kissing a bit heartbreaking on Oliver's part. If it were anyone else I would be rolling my eyes, but SA made it work. I can't praise him enough for how far he's come as an actor.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I loved that episode, one for the shippers but I'm sure they will make up for it with the crossover episodes next week with lots of action in them:)

    ReplyDelete
  119. It was such a cliched scene but SA was good with his facial expressions. His reaction in the foundry was done very well too. I am just happy we didn't see Roy witnessing Thea's kiss too.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I just wished they scrapped the whole Thea/DJ nonsense. It was unnecessary. I would much rather have seen Digg and Felicity bond more. I need to see them interact more!

    ReplyDelete
  121. and more planting....
I know it was soapy, but I'm hurting for those two.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I didn't appreciate him trying to guilt her back into Oliver's support structure without a life of her own.

    ReplyDelete
  123. She was trying to smooth over the fight. Diggle was trying to get Felicity to stay away from a life outside of Oliver. Both were what was best for the team, but one was just making an end run around Oliver not apologizing, the other was asking a team member to sacrifice their well being for the betterment of the team.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I would prefer he was with neither! XD
I'm over Oliver's love life... I'm over Thea's love life,
They're not just Queens - They're drama queens!

    ReplyDelete
  125. What annoyed me is that it came out of nowhere, when did she become his No. 1 fan? Giving speeches about what a wonderful man he is and giving him the googly eyes at a business dinner and being so happy and excited that he changed the name of Oliver's family's company and being so impressed with the new logo? What was that? Who was this girl?

    ReplyDelete
  126. To be fair to the writers they have repeatedly shown to us how Ray Palmer wants what is best for QC and Starling City. His not taking any salary. Him trying to give energy for free to the city. What they did not show to us was Felicity feeling admiration for Ray doing any of these stuff. I think if in episode 5 when Ray said he wants to give energy for free to the city..had they shown Felicity being really impressed by him or Felicity remarking to Diggle or Roy at least once how much good Palmer is doing the whole speech would have come off lot better.

I did not mind the new company name. That must have been in the works from the time Palmer took over. Also Felicity is the vice president of this company. Why wouldn't she be proud? Oliver decided not to fight for QC.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Laurel got the short end of the stick because they stuck her in triangle between best friends who were almost like brothers. At least Ray Palmer is not Oliver's buddy. Felicity is lucky in that aspect.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I would have taken Laurel training or better Malcolm looking to the horizon in a threatening way over that DJ nonsense. I hope there is a point to all this. I would have liked if Thea whipped his ass for trying to kiss her rather than her kissing him back.

    ReplyDelete
  129. That's my point exactly she never did anything to indicate that she is impressed by his work before, I didn't say that he didn't do anything good (although his actions are always overshadowed by his creepiness) but when did she start fangirling about him? and talking about how wonderful he is? Plus she never showed any romantic interest towards him but now suddenly she is so smitten by him? the whole story was so plot driven.

I know Oliver didn't fight for the company but still seeing his family name removed from the company must've hurt that's why he was so upset and started smashing Cupid's arrow, not just because he saw Felicity with Palmer, I would've thought Felicity would be more compassionate towards Oliver even if he didn't fight for the company that doesn't mean that he stopped caring or that he's not upset, he said in the premiere that this company is his family and there's nothing more important to him than family, just because Oliver doesn't show or express his feelings it doesn't mean that he's not feeling them, it's just a front, I can relate to Oliver on this a lot because I do the same thing I keep my feelings buried and pretend everything is OK and that the thing I lost wasn't that important to me and that I'm better off without it but in reality deep down it really hurts, it's a stupid character trait I know but it's not one that can be easily changed. Of course she should be proud of her work and the success of the company but not about changing the name and the logo, besides what is so impressive about this spinning circle around the "P"? I'm seriously asking. Both her and Ray were acting like the logo was gonna jump out of the sign and fly.

    ReplyDelete
  130. ugh what a horribly written episode.

    1. lame villain
    2. arrow got handed by a random fangirl
    3. no reaction when "queen" was replaced by "palmer"
    4. stupid reaction when seeing his crush kissing someone else
    5. arsenal getting more and more useless
    6. typical arrow team can't do anything w/o felicity
    7. dull flashback scenes w/ a stupid end to it
    8. pointless DJ subplot

ok fine ill look for a plus side...

    1. No Laurel scenes!

    ReplyDelete
  131. Yes! This new badass Thea should have broken DJ Douche's jaw for that unsolicited kiss, instead she just melted...

    ReplyDelete
  132. The part of the stunt double was cool. Seeing the correct use of the saya (scabbard) was awesome, but I cringed when I saw how the actress was holding the sword and saya - very very very bad technique.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Still don't like it. She was way better when she wasn't worried every single episode about who's the next she will kiss. And everything that was good about Oliver and Felicity - they were funny, and had a lighter relationship than the other ones he had - is now gone.
Arrow is so, so bad at romance.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I think he was out of line about everything. Oliver knows his feelings, he just don't want to be with Felicity or anyone because he don't think he can be the Arrow and a good boyfriend, and he is probably right about right about it.
Felicity knows Oliver made a choice, and she is trying to move on with her life, and she is so right.
I don't like Diggle's actions, because he knows Oliver and Felicity so well and he knows they are trying to do the right thing. After all he just made things worst for them. And please, David Ramsey deserves better than being Olicity's Cupid. I am so disappointed about that.
And I still don't like Oliver's behavior about the ladies in his life. He still thinks they have to be ready for him 24/7 and can't have a life.

    ReplyDelete
  135. You are evil mac :) Digg in diapers.. He would rock that look too.

    ReplyDelete
  136. You're one of the resident comic book guys, right? Does Atom's shrinking count as a "power" or a "gadget"? I mean beyond being the silliest ability like ever, I couldn't find out if he possessed something besides the tech that made him "meta." Can Ray be Atom on Arrow or does he have to go to Flash?

    ReplyDelete
  137. I thought I would like to see Felicity moving on with someone else and then maybe Oliver will grow up and want to be with her at the end of the season or not (I was fine either ways. I would like it if they give Oliver/Felicity a shot because as an audience I did sit through them having feelings for each other. If they decide not to go there. fine. whatever). But instead I was annoyed. They made Ray Palmer such a mix of Oliver and Felicity it's like he is their child when grown up. Felicity, my favorite character turned into a materialistic air head over night. *sigh*. I hate the writers of this episode. They wrote ToD another Felicity pod person episode imo. She was gratingly annoying there. She is comparatively much better this episode.

The only thing I am liking about this Felicity situation right now is she is not taking Oliver's crap. She decided to move on and she is pumping full cylinders towards it. This season Thea, Laurel and Felicity are on a mission to defy and disregard Oliver and his high handedness. I love that.

Arrow writers should stop writing romance period. Or they should put two people together and forget about them. Romance is not show's strong suit at all.

    ReplyDelete
  138. i hate when the writers do this "love" storyline in a action show.hope its just one off ep

    ReplyDelete
  139. I agree to you to an extend. By them not showing Felicity growing any admiration or feelings towards Ray Palmer they undermined all their interactions. We don't understand why Felicity is so proud of Ray Palmer. We don't get why she is reveling in his achievements like changing the name of the company. This is why I hate triangles it always makes one character bad guy. Felicity came out of this arc looking ooc and careless about Oliver's feelings. I think that was inevitable as she is hell bent on moving on and not showing any feelings for Oliver.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Exactly. She should have used those ninja moves. They just reduced all her awesomeness with just one episode.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I just don't know what is their problem. It's just like they think a girl can be the love interest and just it. They did the same thing to Laurel in the first season. They changed everything good about her to make her a part of a love triangle. I can handle Laurel in the second season, but I can't support her in the second half of the first season. Because she wasn't even herself anymore, she was just there to be with Tommy or Oliver.
They are doing the same to Felicity right now. I really liked Ray, because I think Felicity deserves someone great, but they are really trying to tell me Felicity (the same strong girl of 2 episodes ago) are ok with Ray changing Oliver's company name, or is all "in love" with someone she couldn't stand like the same 2 episodes ago?
I get it, they want to make Olicity happen. I don't really care about that, because I don't think romance is good for the show, but they could at least give a good reason to keep them apart, and RAY PALMER isn't a good reason.
And Oliver has NO RIGHT, I am, NO RIGHT AT ALL, to act like that, because not being with her is his CHOICE, and she is not his puppy, so she can move on and like another guy. But the writers have to, at least, show us when she changes her mind about that guy, you know?

    ReplyDelete
  142. At the CW are kind of used to create triangles to attract attention to the story, which in shows like Arrow its useless, because we don't need triangles to be interested.

    ReplyDelete
  143. That's why I think Oliver not being in a few episodes could be good. Without him, Diggle and Roy can bond, Laurel can interact with the Team, and we can see them all without Oliver's influence. I really think it will be good for the show and for the characters, because I am really tired to see the same Oliver/everybody dynamic.

    ReplyDelete
  144. I am starting to think we don't need romance at all. I just hate every heavy romance episode, just like 3.07.
Also, Stephen isn't good at all. He has the same face when he is talking with the girl he is in love, his ex, his sister, and even ROY. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  145. that episode destroyed me...

    ReplyDelete
  146. The problem at Arrow is somehow they are unable to do a triangle without butchering a character. If they wanted to drag it out simply keep Oliver and Felicity seperate or here is a thought. Give Felicity a semi serious love interest first and then let them go on a date afterwards. There are so many good ways to depict subtle romance in an action based show. They don't have to ram it onto our heads.

    ReplyDelete
  147. No alternate universes or gorilla bad guys, I promise

It's actually a little bit of both. At first it was a gadget, a shrinking beam. But shrunk objects were unstable and exploded: It wasn't until Ray was forced to use the technology on himself that he became able to control it. Perhaps due to him posessing the 'metagene' (the gene that gives many superheroes in the DC universe their powers)

However, Ray Palmer/Atom on Arrow seem to be much more tech based, in fact he was orginally supposed to be another character called Ted Kord, alias The Blue Beetle who uses an exosuit similar to the A.T.O.M suit schematics we saw. But DC said "no, we want Ted Kord for something else". So they just slapped the Ray Palmer/Atom name on the character instead.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I disagree on Stephen. He is not a great actor but in this episode I felt sorry for him (he was unreasonable and throwing a hissy fit I know). My heart hurt for him *sniff sniff* I wanted to bash his head too at the same time. So he is doing something right for me.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Personally I think they cut Laurel's limbs off and ruined her character for lot of audience by putting her in that triangle. She had a great thing going on in CNRI. Instead of concentrating on that they used her character to make Tommy a hero and give Oliver the no killing rule. Honestly I just can't even now get over the fact she slept with Oliver. That was awful. That is why I couldn't identify with her pain of loosing Tommy last season. I was like "whatever! you screwed him over before he was dead" Thank God she is much better this season her arc is really enjoyable. *fingers crossed*

Love triangles... The unavoidable doom of any CW show. thank god The 100 got over that affliction very soon.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Have I mentioned how much I love the Diggles? and that Lyla is so close to Roy and Oliver and how relieved I am to have our beloved Dig back?

    ReplyDelete
  151. I liked this episode more than the last one, though I really could live without annoying Ray. The story Oliver/Felicity was predictable, the moment Ray kissed her I knew Oliver would watch it. But instead of walking away couldn't Oliver have done something unexpected? Like walking up to them and say: Yeah, when Felicity worked for me, I always wanted to do the same thing, This ''Oh I cannot be with anyone'' is getting old.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Is the Dwarf Star what he uses to shrink in the comics? I thought they were just gonna give him a high tech non-shrinking suit.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Yes, the White Dwarf Star material is what he based the shrinking tech on in the comics.

    ReplyDelete
  154. I hope DJ "boyband" is working for Malcolm. I was loving the new Thea until this...
Why badass her up only to put her with some random dude?

  155. Why does everybody keep saying she badassed up and ignore the fact how annoying she has also become? I mean, I still am really frustrated by the whole: 'We're going to stretch it out this entire season if Thea actually cares about her brother or is just a heartless bitch now that is playing him.' I mean, in fact she might have some badass skills, but she isn't a badass, because she's mostly still just Malcolm's brainwashed puppet.

And I hoped that the DJ was a mole for Malcolm too, but I highly doubt it... I think he's just going to stick around, give Thea some weird normalcy or something, and maybe, MAYBE Malcolm doesn't like him and kill him. Either way. as far as I could tell the guy is just a major douche that is one of the most annoying characters I have ever seen in a show. His whole demeanor is just, ugh!

But they've been reducing her awesomeness the last couple of episodes, the whole thing with her and Malcolm is so much more fake and unrealistic than I ever imagined, but at least we know that with the amount of episodes he hasn't been in now, he's probably going to be in EVERY single one.

One thing I still DON'T understand is how people can still honestly put Thea and Ra's next to each other as top choices for who killed Sara... Talking about still making sure then that Thea will never become a hero and/or Speedy.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Awesome! I'm really looking forward to seeing that. Shrinking is such a strange power. I'm curious on how they're going to use it.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Totally filler episode.
Felicity's speech about Ray was so.....
Thea and the DJ subplot was so boring.Already hate the DJ. And that kiss, what was that about?
Oliver getting out of those cuffs, this is like the fifth show I've seen use that trick to get out of cuffs.
What's with the locks in SC. Oliver breaks one with his bow, Cupid breaks one by kicking it off.

    ReplyDelete
  158. I think people are forgiving Thea for her Oliver treatment because they're actually using her character for something. Yeah she is definitely under Malcolm's spell. But better a fighting "puppet" then weak and whiny. I found her annoying and pretty useless the past two seasons.
As for killing Sara? I dunno, shes my choice because I'm running out of choices. Malcolm could have convinced her to do it. I dont see Ra's getting out of bed to do his own wetwork.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Cupid was fantastic and really made this episode stand out. Glad Felicity is VP, and now completely understand the liberties on the time off. Her relationship with Ray is probably more than what we see, which is why Ray probably comes off creepy. The kiss was super weird, but at least it shows that Oliver cared and now he will have to live with the fact that HE is the reason they are not together. Also , none of the BS that he didn't know felicity heard his speech to cupid. He knew and wanted to string along and she decided no more. SO GO FELICITY. I don't know that they are end game or not, but honestly Oliver has treated both Laurel and Felicity so poorly in the love department that he deserves neither of them. I hope crossing over with the Flash makes Oliver realize he is a only human and that he only has himself to blame for all his loss. Yay for Atom and Boomerang. More action and don't add more characters...it is just silly. Also, Diggle keep the mask wearing consistent.

    ReplyDelete
  160. But there already lies a problem, they are NOT using her character for something, which this DJ douchebag proves tenfold... They just wanted to give her a "darker" twist so that people didn't think she'd become Speedy anymore, but because Laurel as Black Canary and Ray as Atom are of course bazillion times more important, they're just leaving her in limbo, a very frustrating annoying limbo. And I don't get why people hated her so much the past 2 seasons, sure she was annoying season 1, but are we all really forgetting that the progress she made, the show just threw out the window like it was nothing when she was taking responsibility, and now suddenly throwing her back in the middle of it, because again they want to stretch it out as long as possible, but they just don't have any ideas?

And of course it's NOT going to be Thea! Again, how do you expect that she'll ever be forgiven for that? Or since I'm pretty sure Speedy isn't a killer, then they'll makre sue like I said that she can never become her, and I still think that's even a much worse decision they could make than putting this baby-face dude with Thor-haircut in the show in the first place.

I still think it was either someone Ra's sent after Sara, someone who trained her or whatever, or that it was Sin. It just can't be Thea, it would ruin her character SO MASSIVELY... Which they're already doing a good job at, not to mention Oliver, since I still think it was a huge writing mistake how EASILY Oliver just kept Malcolm free to do how much he wanted to manipulate Thea, and now doesn't even seem to think twice about that... All the writing turns around Thea are just weak, desperate, and I just hoped a lot more of all of that.

  161. We all know that when Buffy means that she hates someone, she loves them ;)

    ReplyDelete
  162. Well, that was a boring episode. I don't care about the Olicity drama and I even missed Laurel... And what the hell was that storyline with Thea? There is only one episode so far that I would watch again this season.

    ReplyDelete
  163. And Ray and Felicity kissed - gotta say, that scene really sucked. And Oliver got to see it happen, no less just as he was about to (finally) show Felicity how HE felt about her. Oh yeah...great scene. So now, I guess - at least for the next several episodes - Ollie is going to think well, she found someone else who makes her happy. I waited too long and I blew it. That sucks buckets. Also, there is the small detail that Felicity's new heartthrob Ray is obviously not exactly Mr. Perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  164. I disagree. Ray is not a male Felicity. Felicity is the real deal. But something is going on with Ray. He is not exactly as saintly as he seems. He is definitely hiding his dark side from Felicity, which is another reason why Felicity being with him instead of Oliver is a bummer. And as for Laurel being with the ultra-conceited DJ instead of Roy that also stinks. The romance arc of this show has really taken a nose dive.

    ReplyDelete
  165. This episode highlighted something that has been missing with this iteration of Green Arrow. One thing that has made Oliver stand out from street-level vigilantes is being a social conscience and helping everyday people as Oliver Queen as well. Given the conflict he has been having it would be nice to see him make strides toward that direction.

Also, it would have been nice to have seen Oliver torn up not just because of Felicity, but by the fact that the company his family built now completely swept away by Ray Palmer.THAT would have been compelling.

I feel that this season needs Oliver interacting with the real world as well as being Arrow. His real world activities provides a much needed balance.

    ReplyDelete
  166. I think you mean Thea with the DJ. And Ray does have an alterior motive that's true. He is hiding the fact that he's trying to turn himself into a superhero "the atom" hence the suit at the end. But how can he explain that to Felicity? He doesn't know that she works for the Arrow and he's probably worried that she'll think she's crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  167. If they do it like this no we don't need romance at all. I don't diagree about Stephen, but in the last episode he was pretty good.

    ReplyDelete
  168. I agree with a lot, this is not the way to do romance on this types of shows(even for the CW). But what bugs me about this ep was Ray Felicity romance. In the first episode of the season she was in love with oliver, then she goes to barry they kiss but they know they are both in love with someone else, but now she goes on a date with Palmer, makes an incredible speech and then they kiss. Not really coherent with the character IMO, because it makes everything rushed and confusing.

    ReplyDelete
  169. She's not exactly the same as the Golden Age version, I know there's been some merging/retooling between the two previous versions such as her keeping the Canary Cry which the Golden Age version didn't have. While keeping the name Drake-Lance and being married to Kurt Lance instead of Larry Lance of the Golden Age version.

But since she goes by Dinah Drake-Lance again instead of Dinah Laurel Lance it asociates her more closely to the Golden Age version. In retrospect I probably should have added the New 52's version as #3.

But it does not mean my orginal objection does not still stand. You were being careless with the versions of the character by not seeing them as completly separate entities. I objected to you writing Oliver/Dinah Drake as a relationship being retconned in your orginal post because Dinah Drake, wether the Golden Age version or this New 52 version has never been in one with Oliver Queen in the first place. There is nothing to retcon.

It isn't a retcon similar to what was done to Peter/Mary Jane over at Marvel where the characters/universe remained the same and only the relationship was erased or when they retroactively explained the messy continuity situation of Bronze Age Black Canary. You yourself just said it's a new universe with new characters. That's a reboot.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Maybe they didn't want two new Ted characters in one season? J/K. I think shrinking has to go to the Flash, but I feel like tech-y suit can stay, so maybe that's why they said okay and just started with the suit and will maybe someday build up to shrinking?

They've done a good job balancing his ulterior motive mystery with the fact that everyone knows he ends up good to create tension. Is he using Felicity to get to Arrow (either for good--I want to work together or bad--he thinks Arrow is a threat and a killer and wants to save the city from him) or is he gonna set up his own shop and he is just recruiting her. I think they can go both ways if it's tech/gadget, but they can only do the second and ship him off to Central City if it's metagene stuff (which doesn't follow with how dedicated to Starling he's been presented to be or that he's clearly using getting close to Felicity as part of some plan).

Will comic book people be upset if he has the Atom suit but doesn't shrink?

    ReplyDelete
  171. I think we'll have to leave that for the future, depending on if he's truly Ray Palmer/Atom (shrinking powers) or if he's Ted Kord being called Ray Palmer (tech based suit, no shrinking)

    ReplyDelete
  172. He grew by the end, but there was a lot of immature crap at the beginning that he had to slip to, but which still bugged watching. "Do what you want" and all the expecting her to be at his beck and call and not saying anything when she cut her dinner short and actually got on the call when he went after Cupid. But the dinner with Diggle was a step forward, as was his taking care of Roy. But he has to grow not just as the Arrow (as taking care of Roy and building a rapport with Diggle), but also as Oliver Queen and that means getting out from under the hood and out into the real world as himself, with his company and with his life. He didn't make much progress there. Going after Felicity was one thing, but I don't think his heart was in it, he wasn't going to give her the actual relationship that she wanted, he was just a little kid wanting his stuff back in the same "and you know how I feel about her" kinda of way. But realizing that you have a problem is the first step, and jealousy is a powerful motivator. I wish he'd had a bigger reaction to the name change on QC, it felt like something was missing there.

    ReplyDelete
  173. I do agree with you on Amell. He has some strange ability to keep all the girls he acts with in a weird friendzone (I still don't know he got cast in Hung). Usually actors have problems making everything sexual, but he seems to struggle making anything romantic. He glosses over it by being gentle and kind with the girls he's supposed to like, which works on Arrow because usually he's brusque and aggressive so there is a contrast. But he has weirdly chaste energy (and frankly kissing scenes).

Other than romance, I think he has improved dramatically, and I really like a lot of the nuance he is bringing. He just needs to work on looking like he likes a girl and wants to be with her.

    ReplyDelete
  174. I explained earlier that I was merely referring to the current iterations of the characters, not failing to see them as seperate entities.

Retcons refer to individual changes in history, and reboots refer to complete overhauls. New52 was a reboot, but the amount that was retconned within that reboot varies. For instance, Batman and Green Lantern carried over a great deal of their continuity, but others received complete re-writes. Using the term "retcon" allows us to point out the specific things that have been changed in each hero's history.

  175. i agree but i still think this olicity thing should be drawn out for a complete season not in a single ep. too much in a single ep. one ep felicity was kissing oli then barry then bam ray in another ep. they r degrading that char.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Yes, THIS. I couldn't put my finger on what was not quite gelling for me this season, but I think you've nailed it. Not having Moira around is part of it – his interactions with her and her acquaintances made up a lot of his "real world activities."

And it bothered me too that he seemed so unfazed by the company re-branding.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Eh, I had pretty high hopes (I loved the Cupid snippet at the end of last week's very meh episode), and the episode didn't really get there for me. Cupid was entertaining, but I wish we had seen more of her and less of Ray/Felicity and Thea/DJ.

    Bleh things:
    - I love Felicity, but her pitch at dinner? Gag me with a spoon.
    - Oliver's non-reaction to the company name change
    - Only one person to save in this episode. I guess I was hoping to see the Arrow rescue a series of people from Cupid while coming to understand her insanity better before the final confrontation. But I understand it was important to devote time to DJ McCreep.

    Good things:
    - Scenes with Maseo's wife. I was actually excited about the possibility of going forward without Maseo – that would have made for an interesting dynamic. But alas.
    - "I have a type."
    - Captain Boomerang!

    ReplyDelete
  178. No. You are not alone. There are lot of people out there who don't want Oliver/Felicity together. I am fine either way. But I would like it if they give the relationship a try for at least the course of a season. After all they did show these characters having feelings for each other. Just because these two get in a relationship does not mean it will last forever.

    ReplyDelete
  179. I will give them the kiss and explain it away as Ray initiated it and Felicity was curious. I will give them the dinner too as it started as a business meeting where he dazzled her. What I can't reconcile is that speech from Felicity about Ray. Yes, they have told us again and again how much Ray wants to save Starling city and the company but we were never shown Felicity being impressed with the guy. I wish there was one scene where Felicity is talking to Diggle or Roy how much she is impressed with what Palmer is doing to save the city and company. That would have made this episode more fluid.

    ReplyDelete
  180. I agree with what you say about early episodes of season 1. They made her justifiably angry at Oliver but the same time showed us how much tortured Oliver is. There was no way our sympathies ever would go to her. But had they reduced the concentration on her feelings for Oliver through out season 1 and put more light into what she did at CNRI things would have been different. Her relationship with Tommy made her likable. But her feelings for Oliver and the Hood while she is in a good relationship with Tommy made her extremely unlikable. Until she jumped into bed with Oliver I had the hope that she would learn Oliver's secret and that would make her more proactive on action front. But after that I wanted her far far away from Oliver on personal and professional front.

    It was all so melodramatic.

  181. Four Questions for Arrow Fans.

    1) Should Oliver's son Connor Hawke ( Oliver's son with Sandra Hawke ) become apart of his life on Arrow and if so when ?

    2) Should Oliver adopt Roy like in the comics ?

    3) Should Oliver discover he has another son named Robert Queen like in the comics ?

    4) Should Oliver discover he and Thea have a half sister named Emiko Queen like in the comics ?

  182. Holy Crap !!!

I just realized the CW spin-off isn't going to be "The Suicide Squad" ... or ... even "Birds of Prey" ... it's going to be "The Atom" staring Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer.

Felicity might end up leaving with him I fear.

( if only Sara could have been resurrected by Nyssa and returns once Felicity leaves as 'Oracle' )

Yeah...they made a mistake popping it all out at one time...I don't know...maybe they have something up their sleeve? The writers have a tendency of doing things too fast ie. The flash.

    ReplyDelete
  184. You're kinda mixing Classic and New 52 universes there.

    1. No need for a 7 year old kid on the show. Assuming the kid we saw in flashback IS Connor, stick to the books and make him a part of Oliver's life when he's 20. (a,ka outside of the show's span unless it's going to be on for a LONG time)

    2. Oliver and Roy doesn't quite have the age difference they had in the comic. Roy is a legal adult and does not require a legal guardian like the teenage Speedy did in the comics. Plus with Oliver on the show being alot younger than classic Green Arrow, it's too early to play the "want to be a father" card. TV Oliver has a TON of other issues to sort out first.

    3. This gets interesting. With Shado being dead on the show she obviously can't be the mother of Robert like in the comics. However, I have noticed that Nyssa seem to take on alot of comic book Shado's traits (female assassin, uses a bow just as well as Oliver, the veil/facemask thing) and Ra's Al Ghul is all about male heirs. If they wanted to mirror Batman/Talia Al'Ghul and Damian this is one way they could work Roberts conception into the show. Of course unless Nyssa suddenly swings both ways it's probably not going to happen.

    4. Hmm, Emiko is New 52 so I'm less familiar with the character. But hey, Robert Queen Senior was constantly unfaithfull to Moira. It's possible there are other half-siblings out there. Though the family relations are kinda messed up as they are, is there really a need to complicate them further?

  185. i think its better they leave olicity this season unanswered. and deal with league of assasins first

  186. I have mixed feelings about this episode; overall it was OK but it packed a bunch of weird moments.
Cupid is a wacko and I loved it. Those are my favorite villains, the ones with crazy motivations (or no motivation at all, except from creating chaos), so I enjoyed a lot her shenanigans to get Oliver's attention and how annoyed he was about the whole thing. Kudos to both actors involved in this plot to make this work, because the story itself was really lackluster.
Thea with the DJ, why? Why did we have to go through this awful plot? I just hope he has some hidden agenda because those scenes were so boring and really out of nowhere. The silver lining is that at least Roy didn't witness that kiss. I rather see Laurel training or Malcolm plotting than Thea with that dude.
I don't get why Felicity would be so happy about Ray Palmer changing QC's name. I know Oliver said he doesn't want anything to do with QC, but it felt a little bit OOC for me, to see her grinning about the logo (her scene with Dig).
Ray in the salmon ladder only served so we could get that great one line about Felicity having a type since the dude's nowhere near Oliver or Sara doing the salmon ladder. Go find your own exercise Ray.
Felicity's speech at dinner made me cringe, as that's my major problem with Arrow, the writers always choose to tell us something instead of showing it. I can buy her saying Oliver is a hero because we always see him being a hero. But we didn't have one convincing scene of Ray Palmer being that inspirational. I would only believe that speech if it was about him being a slightly creep workaholic who doesn't have boundaries towards his coworkers since that's all we've seen him doing.
I get some people who say Diggle only purpose was to serve as an Olicity shipper this episode, because I also miss him having something else to do, but I think is realistic to have him trying to help his friends. They’re suffering and Dig believes Oliver can get to a better place and have a life outside of the foundry. Oliver said in episode two that he didn’t want to die there so Diggle is helping him. I absolutely agree with Felicity when she said that if Oliver had a problem with her being with someone else he should say something, not Diggle.
I liked that we could actually see Oliver acknowledge that he might have a different kind of life, but dude that was painful. SA slayed me this episode, I could hear his heart break in a million pieces when he saw Felicity and Ray together, btw, that was completely unnecessary, so cliché it hurts, he was already in pain, there was no need to shatter his poor vigilante heart.
I don’t want this storyline to be dragged any longer, I mean, we already know Olicity are going to have a huge moment in episode 3x09 and Oliver is going to be away for some period the second half of the season so what I hope it will happen is: there’s going to be a big declaration, then he’s gone and when he gets back some other issues are going to keep them apart, but not this whole I
can’t be with you and be the Arrow thing, this is getting old. And wtf is up with Ray? Why did he walk away from her after he did all of those non platonic things like buying her a dress, renting jewelry…? First I thought the guy wouldn’t be bad, because the whole DC superhero thing, but he gets shadier by the minute and I have a strong feeling he’s using Felicity…
