NCIS: Los Angeles - Traitor - Review: "A Mole in our Midst"

27 Nov 2014

The ninth episode of the season, “Traitor,” brought us the hunt for the NCIS mole that’s been mentioned numerous times this season. That mole is infiltrating the NCIS Los Angeles office and wreaking havoc. This time he causes serious damage: getting to Granger, poisoning him and causing him to flip his car in a very serious accident. While Granger recovers, the NCIS LA team works to uncover the mole and bring him down. In the end they are successful.

General Thoughts/Analysis

I thought the mole story arc, with teasers delicately sprinkled through several episodes, was one that could have been really interesting. And though I liked this episode, I was disappointed that the actual mole was someone whom none of us knew. It was harder to get invested in the story when it was a new character we had never met before. Even if there had been a short introduction or a couple small sightings over the last few episodes letting us think this man was a nice person, it would have been more effective when we learned he wasn’t. But as it was, the sense of danger was diminished and the level of emotional investment lowered because this was just any average guy who worked in the IT department. It could have been anyone. That was the problem. It was anyone. Unfortunately I feel like the show missed a good opportunity to present a really captivating story here. Of course, I recognize that whoever this mole works for may be a bigger fish and lead to more interesting story, but this one really just scratched the surface.

There were still many good things about the episode, though. I was happy to see more of Eric finally. I don’t know how it took nine episodes to give him a little bit more material. But it was nice to see more of funny, quirky, nerdy Eric. I enjoyed seeing how he was afraid of approaching Hetty, using a nervous knock-knock joke and British accent before slowly inching near to check on her. I loved him talking about his Captain America comic book. And I loved his password for his bank account: “2015Eric+Nell.” I guess we know where he stands on that topic. Nell slapping him was also amusing, along with him acknowledging he needed it. But I couldn’t really figure out why Nell got mad at him after he wanted to deal with the bank account problem on his own. Why was that such a bad thing? And I have to say, the final Nell-Eric scene was a little cheesy for me. Giving them a nice moment with everyone right next to them (before the group takes off uncomfortably) just felt awkward.

I also loved Hetty getting a polygraph test. What a fun scene. Wouldn’t Hetty be the perfect person to polygraph? I think Eric had the right idea when he wanted to take advantage of the test and ask her about things like government secrets/Area 51. Hetty is such a wealth of knowledge with so much rich history that she must have a ton of fascinating secrets. It would be a lot of fun to see what she knows. That might be the most interesting polygraph test ever! The things she revealed to Nell already made me want to know more. Which country did she commit treason against? And what is the story of how she tried to kill Granger long ago? I want to hear more about that! She’s such a polygraph tease. We only got intriguing snippets of her life. Nell should have pressed her harder to get answers for us!

Analyzing Deeks/Kensi

Another thing I loved were the Deeks and Kensi scenes (though they also left me with a big disappointment, which I’ll explain in a minute). My favorite was the scene right after the opening shot. As Kensi practices target shooting, Deeks brings her a food container and accuses her of eating his special leftover burger. He wanted to eat it for breakfast but it was gone and he knows Kensi ate it. “You are a refrigerator hyena,” he tells her. “Let me smell your breath.” When he gets his wish, he thinks her breath is “surprisingly minty” because she must have covered up her actions with mouthwash. As she claims he might not know her well enough to say that, he proves very convincingly she is wrong. He easily rattles off a long list of obscure things he really does know about her: her specific favorite color (Cornflower Blue), that she hates liver but loves bulgogi, her favorite movie (“Titanic”), that she loves techno music and mojitos at a certain hotel, that she played college softball, that she dressed up as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle for Halloween as a child, that she keeps a journal, that she wants an oregano garden, and that her favorite New Kid was Joey. These are the kind of specific details that show Deeks really does know her well. They point to a deeper understanding of her likes, her life and her history.

The scene ends with a very sweet, charming Deeks telling her she also hides “girly magazines” under her bathroom sink. At this one Kensi is a little confused. But Deeks’ version of “girly magazine” means “Cosmo” and “Modern Bride.” (Kensi reading “Modern Bride?” That is something I cannot picture.) I love when Deeks tells her, “Our kickass Kensilena has a softer, lacy, lady side that no one knows about but me – and I love it!” His smile is sincere as he says this, as if he is trying to convince her how much he cares and loves these things about her. But Kensi plays coy. “You couldn’t have said that any creepier,” she retorts. And Deeks, I’m sure, echoed many viewers’ thoughts as he replies, “Creepy? I thought it was pretty charming.” Indeed it was, and very sweet. How can Kensi resist that smile?

At numerous times during this episode (including this scene and the hair-smelling scene where Deeks gets distracted and won’t promise not to smell her again) I found myself thinking that Deeks is really beginning to wear his heart on his sleeve in this relationship, while Kensi continues to play coy. Deeks has become the romantic. He often acknowledges out loud what he likes about Kensi. He seems to have pushed through his fear of being together and has become bolder about letting her know how he feels. He makes numerous comments now that show Kensi how much he likes her. Meanwhile, Kensi acts hard to get and doesn’t play along. She doesn’t seem to want him thinking she likes him, even though she clearly does and they both know it. But funny enough, Kensi is acting cool like the traditional guy. Having said that, I don’t think it’s a reflection of how she truly feels at all. I just think it’s Kensi’s personality to not tell Deeks she likes him and not voice how she feels. It’s even become part of her flirting – and Deeks understands that. Unless it’s a really serious moment where she truly needs him, Kensi is not going to be overtly loving or romantic, at least in public. But Deeks will. This episode really impressed on me how far Deeks has come in expressing his feelings for Kensi.

But another thing the episode did was begin to convince me that these two characters are indeed dating. So far it’s been hard to determine exactly what their relationship is. Much of it has been left open-ended and ripe for interpretation. But this episode really presented evidence that pointed to these two having a more intimate relationship. The fact that Deeks thinks Kensi ate his special burger for breakfast shows that Kensi was over at his house for breakfast. Unless she is an early riser who just likes to have breakfast with Deeks before work, the implication is she stays over at his house. In order to have raided his fridge and stolen his leftovers to eat for breakfast, she had to be at his place in the morning. That implies a relationship.

There are also other indicators they are getting close. Deeks is obviously over at Kensi’s place a lot, too. Otherwise he wouldn’t be looking under her bathroom sink and noticing her toilet paper stash. Before discussing their peeing habits, he comments on how she never actually places the toilet paper onto the roll. This whole conversation was quite amusing. It sounded like a couple bickering about putting the toilet seat down. But in this case they were arguing and joking about replacing the toilet paper roll instead. This had definite couple status written all over it. If they are spending this much time together at one another’s houses outside of work, it really does seem to imply they are a couple, or at least dating. Also, Deeks at one point mentioned Kensi’s chili, letting us know that Kensi has been cooking for him. And when Kensi spots the poisonous plant on her desk, she admits she originally didn’t think twice about it because she thought it was a gift from Deeks. Maybe he buys her more gifts than we know. But the evidence is adding up: staying over, cooking for each other, buying gifts, replacing the toilet paper at one another’s houses and stealing things out of the fridge all point to these two already being a couple.

As much as I personally have wanted them to get together, I was really disappointed by this revelation because it means the relationship has developed off screen. That is something I haven’t wanted to believe was happening. Many fans have wondered if these two were developing a close, intimate relationship that wasn’t being shown on screen, if the show was getting them together and just hinting at it but not actually showing it. I didn’t really think that was the case because I hadn’t seen much evidence of it - until now. Or maybe I just didn’t want to believe it. Like many fans of the couple, if something was going to happen, I wanted to see it happen, not just be told about it later. So I had really hoped the show was simply backing up the relationship to friendship so they could then move forward and show us the development of their relationship onscreen. But the scenes and dialogue this week really make it seem like it’s happened off-screen. That was a big disappointment for me.

Other Thoughts:

- I loved Deeks referring to Granger as “our favorite little curmudgeon.”

- Sam pointing out the similarities between Granger and Callen’s lifestyles was entertaining. I enjoyed this dialogue and banter.

- Hetty certainly doesn’t like her team questioning her decisions. She did not look happy when Deeks questioned her choice not to evacuate the building.

- Worst line (and delivery) in the episode goes to Nell: “I used to think this was the safest place on earth.” I had to roll my eyes at that one.

- When Hetty was talking about people changing and losing themselves, it certainly seemed to imply there was a chance Eric may have lost his way. I was really shocked at that. I would have thought Hetty and Nell would defend him at all costs instead of casting suspicion on him even a little. I didn’t like that. It felt disloyal.

- It was a little creepy to see Deeks strangle Kensi even as a demonstration. Fortunately he did something cute right after it. (Smelling her hair)

- I couldn’t believe the mole knocked Eric’s head against a wall. But it was an effective choice. It surprised me and made me say, “Whoa!”

- Why did Callen say, “Pick on someone your own size” to the mole? Was that a fat joke?

- I loved Deeks saying, “Holla!” after catching the mole. Everything is a joke to him.

- When Kensi told Nell to check on Eric, he was two feet away from them. Don’t you think he would have heard that comment?

- We still don’t know who the mole was working for so we’re not really much closer to understanding the threat or where it’s coming from. But I look forward to finding out who is behind everything.

- I guess now we know why Hetty and Granger have such a contentious relationship – she tried to kill him once. But it seems they’ve come pretty far since then – almost friends. To that end, it was nice to see her supporting him at the hospital.

  1. Nell had a point on Eric working alone. With what was going on if he had tried to keep it a secret he could have looked guilty. Then again common sense says if Eric was the bad guy and Nell knew about the bank account she would have been fed some poison plant before anyone had a chance to find out about it.lol

I agree about the mole. It would have made more sense to introduce someone over a course of episodes instead of bringing in a new character. They wouldn't have even have to give the person lines just sit them in plain site over 3 episodes and walla, a mole. I do agree also that this mole was working for a bigger bad guy from the past like maybe Angelo or Kensi's ex fiance. Whomever it was the two people they seemed to dislike the most was Kensi and Granger so maybe this bad guy is related to Kensi's father. Pure speculation.

  2. Ha. My Kensi and Deeks love continues. Everything about them lately points to their relationship. The sharing of every day info that most couples talk or argue about. Kensi is the contentious one, Deeks is the loving, fun one. They make it work. My heart jumped a little because I thought he said "I love you" with that big smile but no, he said "I love it." My Deeks brain. These two are so very perfect they could carry their own show. I'm honest enough to admit they are the only reason I watch the majority of the time. I'm a little disappointed that their relationship is developing off screen but I get it. We don't see the other's home life either, except on the rare occasion of Sam. I'm ok with it because I have a feeling that when they do show it, it's going to be worth it. It's going to be a story. It amazes me that I really do love these two so much because I am not a couple fan or shipper at all. It's just the Kensi/Deeks break through that with their authenticity.

  3. I was rather disappointed that the mole was just some random guy we'd never ever seen before.

I'm glad the writers have also noticed that Granger seemed to be looking sick the last few episodes. I've commented on the fact that he seemed to be fading away and looking very old. In fact he looked ridiculous in all the gear in Mexico; he looked so old and weak. Maybe the actor has been ill.

I loved his line at the end when he saw hetty sitting beside him. "I assume I've haven't died and gone to heaven." lol

  4. Deeks could have left the burger at OPs. Maybe they were working late, eating dinner at work and he left it there for the morning. Why do I say this because I DO NOT trust the producers. One minute they make us think something is going on and in another second they have changed their minds. So many of the moments you mentioned can be easily explained away any time the producers want.

I know I am being a cynic again.lol but I am trying to talk myself into believing this because if I don't get to see them get together I don't think I can continue to watch.

Now I remember watching something in this episode and thinking, well they are not together and that proves it but I can't for the life of me remember what it is. Its driving me crazy. I have to go back and watch it so I can figure this out:)

Great point about why Nell didn't want Eric to work alone. That makes sense. She didn't want him to look guilty. And funny what you say after. Lol.

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that about the mole. I'm eager to see who the bad guy is behind the mole - you have interesting suggestions. And great insight about the fact that whomever it is, they disliked Kensi and Granger the most because that's who they targeted. That's something to consider. Your speculation is intriguing about it possibly being related to Kensi's father. That would be very interesting!

Hetty amused me, too. Sometimes she is so serious that it's really fun to see her cheeky and smiling! Wouldn't a Densi polygraph have been great? I wish it would have happened.

Yes, it was nice to know they were phasing Eric out. I thought it was really strange how little they've used him.

I thought that comment was strange of Callen, too! I didn't remember other fat jokes over the years. Weird that they've done that several times.

Let the love continue! :) Yes, everything really does seem to point to a relationship lately, doesn't it? I like your description: Kensi is the contentious one, Deeks is the loving, fun one. My heart would have jumped, too, if I thought he'd said "I love you." Glad to hear it doesn't bother you too much that their relationship is developing off screen. Yeah, we don't see a lot of their home lives. I hope you're right that when they do show it, it will be a great story worth the wait! That will make me very happy! I know what you mean about how they break through with their authenticity. They really do feel like some of the most authentic characters on television and they're so authentic together. Makes them feel so real we have to love them and want more! :)

I am glad to hear I wasn't the only one who was disappointed by the randomness of the mole!

That's so interesting that you noticed Granger had been looking sick. I hadn't detected that. Maybe you're right, I don't know. Hmmm. Interesting. Oh, and that really was a great line at the end. It made me laugh! Very funny. (And funny how Hetty commented neither of them would likely be going there. Makes me wonder about all the things they've done!) :)

  8. Tonya Papanikolas27 November 2014 at 06:02

I know what you mean about talking yourself into believing it's not true - and also about not trusting the producers. I think they have done what you say: changing their minds and explaining things away if need be. I actually went) back and watched the burger scene again to see if they could have been talking about dinner food that Deeks had as leftovers that Kensi could have eaten at any other time and he just found it for breakfast. But I don't think it could have happened that way because Kensi asks something like "Who eats a sea urchin burger - for breakfast, no less?" And then Deeks replies, "You do, apparently." So she had to have been there for breakfast. (Until the producers explain change their mind and explain it away... Haha. J/K.

But it really is disappointing to not get to see these things happening. I think the fans deserve to see it, too and don't understand why they would not want to show it when so many people are interested. That would be a big draw to the show. I understand that we don't see a lot of peoples' home lives on the show. I wish that were different but it isn't. However this is also a big part of these two characters. So I would think this would be an exception. We will see what happens, I guess.

Thanks for letting me know you like the groupings format. I recently just started doing that so it's good to know that you find it helpful.

Oh, and if you remember what you saw that you thought pointed to them not being together, let me know. I'm curious what it was. :)

  9. Hi Tonya....and thanks your thoughtful analysis & terrific review of Mondays Mole-tastic episode!

I agree with you..that making the mole some Joe Blow guy we had never laid eyes on before...was a mistake and not very dramatic or imaginative..on the shows part!

As you pointed out...if we had seen this guy walking around Ops or working in the background for a few episodes..or even better...in previous episodes..while he was shown helping out Eric & Nell in Ops..and coming across as a friendly & likable fellow...we would have been really surprised.to see him revealed as the mole.

Instead of being shocked or surprised at finding out he was the traitor ..most fans first thought was probably..." Huh?? Who the heck is THIS guy???" lol

Alas...this is another example of the writers & producers of this show..often lazy & laissez- faire attitude ....when it comes to storytelling details!..

.They devote so much attention to the action & stunt scenes....I just wish...they would put half as much energy.......into the storytelling ...like showing us that mole nobody beforehand.........which would help make the writing & episodes ..that much stronger & better.

It seems like a lot of the times..that's weeks case and the solving of said case..is THE most important thing ...to the powers that be....

But I'm willing to bet...a lot of people tune into the show..to watch their favorite character & their individual storylines.....to these fans....the case is always secondary!

. It's NOT the case per say that interests me...it's what happens among the core group...WHILE their busy solving the case..that I enjoy!

Eric's scene with Hetty was very entertaining..and hopefully..than can give this funny & talented actor..way more to do on the show!!

As for whats going on with Deeks & Kensi...I understand your frustration Tonya...at the thought that they are dating offscreen....but...I'm going to go out on a limb here..and play devils advocate..and say why I think..they're not dating off screen.

First up..most of the stuff that Deeks brought up about knowing Kensi so well..we already heard before...from scenes from past episodes

.Like the fact Kensi the loves bulgogi, “Titanic” being her fave movie., that she loves techno music and mojitos ... that she played softball...and keeps a journal

The other things he said.about her fave color being Cornflower Blue & dressing up as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle for Halloween as a child, .I can't recall them talking about those 2 things before... but.Kensi could have told Deeks..about those two things and other details about her life.....sitting in a car while on a stake out.

The girly mags..and toilet roll business..could just mean..Deeks & Kensi hang out a lot at each others homes after work..( .like that scene we saw of them asleep together on the couch)..but it doesn't in and of itself...prove that they are dating!

lol I;m only saying all this..to make you feel better..but Im truly do not think..they are dating..not at this moment in time.

The main reason I think their just really good friends and not dating....is Kensi's reactions to Deeks open flirting with her.

In past seasons when Deeks was flirting with Kensi..she was seen as enjoying it ...most of the time & flirting right back at him...but now...the flirting..is totally one sided.. and only coming from Deeks

Kensi in S6.....has been seen as openly standoffish to Deeks many manly charms...and playing very hard to get...and I could not see her doing that to Deeks,,,.or for that matter... Deeks being happy & putting up with her less than fun and playful attitude...if they were indeed..actually dating.

Anyhoo..I hope my little take on .."Are they or are they not dating" theory...gives you some hope....that maybe there only still just buddies & we will see the full blooming of their " thing"...soon & most importantly..happening ON screen!! :).

    .

    .

  10. The one thing that stood out for me that their not dating..is the fact Deeks was surprised at the delightful smell of Kensi's hair.

If two adults such as Deeks & Kensi.. were in a serious relationship & dating...one would naturally assume...that Deeks has had more than a few ...uh..how shall we say...chances & opportunities.to be up close & personal with Kensi & her hair!

  11. Glad to see that I was not alone..in thinking Granger looked pretty silly & awful scrawny...while he was playing GI Granger in that scene!

  12. Great review. I too was disappointed about the mole reveal. It felt kinda lame to me. I loved all the Densi moments but I am not yet convinced that they are dating but they sure are heading in that direction

    ReplyDelete
  13. I didn't take Calen's comment as a "fat Joke". I took the comment more as the mole was a skilled agent and Eric is not so pick on someone with more skills.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm also not bothered by the fact that their relationship is developing off screen. Its against the rules for agents to become involved so it's logical most of their relationship is secret. I actually enjoy the way the characters are developing.

Thank you. Glad to hear I wasn't the only one that was underwhelmed by the mole reveal. It WAS kind of lame. The Densi moments were fun, weren't they? I totally understand not being convinced that they're dating. I just started becoming convinced myself this episode. It's interesting to hear what everyone thinks. And I'm still eager to see how it plays out going forward. So I guess we will see what happens. Fun to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

Hi Big O! Love all your thoughts on the mole situation. Half the fun of revealing moles is being surprised by who they are. This time there was no surprise because no one knew him. Haha. But I really wish the producers hadn't overlooked that storytelling detail as you mention. It falls in the realm of what we've talked about before! Indeed focusing on the interest level of the stories would make the show better. I agree that "It's NOT the case per say that interests me...it's what happens among the core group...WHILE their busy solving the case..that I enjoy."

Interesting to hear the devil's advocate side of this topic of them dating. You're right that Deeks already knew a lot of these details about Kensi before. And knowing those things doesn't make them a couple. Friends know a lot about each other, too. And hanging out at each other's homes a lot doesn't necessarily mean they're dating. But when they have feelings and are hanging out that much and doing sleepovers, which are implied, then I really wonder. Interesting that you point out Kensi's flirting has changed. I hadn't noticed/thought about that. But to me Kensi's non-returning of Deeks' flirting is almost a new way of flirting back. Is that weird? She plays hard to get, but it's almost in a bring-it-on-cuz-I-actually-like-it kind of way. Ha ha. Who knows. I am not 100% sure but I'm just starting to be convinced. And it's really interesting how people see it differently. Nonetheless, I hope you're right. That way we can see the full blooming of their "thing" onscreen! Yay. Here is to the hope. Thanks for working to instill that hope in me! :)

  20. Jumping on the disappointment bandwagon about the mole being a throwaway character. At least they could have given him a line to the effect of "you'd never believe who I'm working for" to produce some kind of ongoing suspense, but alas. Also, I think if the mole is out to get anyone in particular, it's Hetty and Granger. It was Hetty's personal info that was sold on the dark net, leading to what's his name, the German fellow, infiltrating Ops in an episode that made an insufficient impact on me to remember the title. I think the flowers ended up on Kensi's desk because people tend to give flowers to women more than men, so it would not arouse suspicion to leave them on her desk. I did enjoy Granger's line at the hospital when he sees Hetty and surmises that he hasn't died and gone to heaven.

All in all, another forgettable episode in a thus far forgettable season.

  21. My thoughts... Like you, I was a little disappointed that the mole was someone we hadn't seen before. They really should have introduced him some time before this episode. Also, they need to show us more of the other OSP employees from time to time; after all, Team Hetty is not the only one in the building.
As for Kensi and Deeks, I'm not convinced they're officially in a relationship at this point, though they really have been acting more and more like a couple recently. Like you, I really hope they haven't already started dating off-screen because I'd feel cheated. What may end up happening is they keep on with the bantering and sharing and such and eventually they realize that while they haven't put a label on it, they essentially are in a relationship. At which point they will decide to make it official. I hope. :P
Oh, and about the burger: I assumed that Deeks brought it to work, intending to eat it for lunch, and Kensi swiped it from the fridge.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I agree with you about the way the writers have Hetty relating to Kensi. This isn't the first time this season she has snapped at her. Meanwhile, Nell is the teacher's pet.

Also, the way they are handling the Deeks//Kensi "relationship" reminds of nearly 10 years of Stargate SG1. The writers strung Samantha and Jack's characters so long that fans just gave up.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Actually, right now Kensi and Deeks are reminding me more of John and Aeryn on Farscape.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I just had a couple of comments. I was not surprised the mole was a no name character. If they had introduced someone earlier even in passing, it would have been very obvious what they were doing. We would have known who the mole was right away. There was no way they would make it one of our regulars unless that person was leaving the show and I wouldn't want to lose any of the regular cast. I guess I wasn't as disappointed as everyone else, because the story played out how I expected it. Second, I'm not sure where everyone is coming up with a fat joke, I didn't see that at all. Pick on someone your own size is a very common phrase used when someone stronger is picking on someone weaker. Callen was essentially challenging the mole to come after him and leave Eric alone.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Weighing in on the urchin burger (uh, gross). I think AnotherNewName could be right. Kensi stole the burger out of the OP’s fridge for breakfast because she’s Kensi. She covers her urchin breath with gum or something. Deeks goes to find his urchin burger for breakfast, but it’s gone. He confronts Kensi on the shooting range. Kensi hides her thieving ways by acting appalled by the thought of anyone eating urchin burger for breakfast, even though that’s exactly what she did. Deeks knows it was there yesterday evening when he left work, and it was gone the next morning when he wanted it for breakfast. Maybe Kensi was the first one to arrive for work—therefore the only one who could have gotten to the burger. I assume only Deeks and Kensi would eat urchin.

  26. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle was mentioned in Blye, K. Part 2. I believe the only details that we didn't know were her favorite color and the oregano garden (although we knew about her brown thumb).

    ReplyDelete
  27. I agree about the fat joke. I saw it as a prop to Eric's far superior IQ and moral compass.

  28. iam guessing kensi stole that burger from the mission fridge and not deeks house. if it was his house then there would be no guessing if she took it or not. Likely it was the day befores lunch at work. I do think there is nightly shagging going on here but Deeks is having a bit harder time separating work from home life. That wink Kensi gave him was a dead give away. Nobody makes a comment on a girls ankles unless they are sleeping together. I think they still both think she was sent away because they slept together so they are keeping it to themselves. As deeks said in the deleted scene , THEN WE DONT CHOOSE , they are trying to get away with both partners and lovers. The other give away is the way Kensi puts her hands on him all the time, its very natural and he never reacts to it. I think the writers are trying to build distrust and dislike between hetty and deeks and kensi. They both question her more than once and Hetty seems to snap at Kensi all the time. Down the road likely when Deeks is sent back to LAPD there will be a blowup between Kensi and Hetty and all the dirty laundry is coming out. Hetty has a Bill Belichick like god complex, nobody should question me iam a legend. The best scene was Granger at the end saying obviously I have not died and gone to heaven when he saw Hetty there.lol I like Granger he is a good man.

  29. Oh and as for the mole , that guy was bad choice , he could have been over powered by any real guy. They should have gotten someone in half descent shape and not the Pillsbury doughboy

  30. I found the whole smelling of the hair as creepy and yes if they were sleeping together I think the outcome would have been different.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think that is what is getting to me. Every episode is unforgettable. Even as a Densi fan their scenes have been for the most part unforgettable. There have been a few I have loved (waking up on the couch together minus the conversation. The scene after Kensi was integrated and a few others) but I am a huge re-watcher of things I like and so far there hasn't been much of all to re-watch.

    ReplyDelete
  32. After reading other people's comments I am thinking its the hair smelling scene but if I ever watch it again I'll let you know. My memory is not what it used to be:)

  35. Bill Belichick does not have a God like complex at all. The man never says a word and always has the same expression on his face win or lose. He never acts like Hetty and he has been questioned plenty of times. #HaterGonnaHate

  36. iam a huge pats fan and he is the best coach ever. But he is one arrogant dude and spiteful. He has all the answers and its his way or the highway. He is a winner though and his record shows it. The man has plenty to say just not infront of the media and Hettys attitude reminds ME of him at times.

    ReplyDelete
  37. That is called being a coach. He's the boss and he has rules and you follow them. Don't get how that is called being arrogant. Its called doing his job and the Patriots are better for it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Its also a bit unfair to call him arrogant and assume he says plenty when the media isn't around because he shouldn't get judged on anyone's assumptions.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh yeah! I forgot about that! LOVE this video. Thanks for sharing! :)

  40. I guess that scene can be put in the : "Different strokes for different folks": file! :)

It was my favorite scene in the whole show..and I re watched it.. a bunch of times.. because I found it to be.. one of the few genuine feeling Densi moments...we have gotten this season

( What I found kinda creepy..was seeing Deeks with a rope around Kensi's neck! )

The reason I didn't see Deeks smelling her hair as creepy... is because it happened by accident.

If Deeks had put that rope around Kensi's neck ..as an excuse to pull her closer to him so he could smell her hair....then... I would have felt the exact same way as you did about that scene.

Obviously..the lovely smell of Kensi's hair...took Deeks by surprise!

I think his reaction in that hair scene...was very innocent and simply an echo and continuation of his earlier discussion with Kensi .....when we heard Deeks tell Kensi.. that he was the only one...that knew about & loved the softer..lacey & lady like side of Kensi..

Another reason I don't find anything creepy about it...is because Deeks often acts like a big kid ..and as kids are wont to do..they just blurt out....the first thing that pops into their head.....

.. in this case..Deeks just blurted out loud.. what he was thinking soon as he realized Kensi's har.smelled a lot more lovelier....than Monty's after Deeks gives him his yearly bath! :)

  41. Thanks for posting that terrific video!!!

I thought it was very telling..that the only thing we didn't have a flashback scene accompanying Deek's knowledge of Kensi....was Kensi's fave color...

.Everything else Deeks said...we heard before..either from Kensi..or as it turns out..her Mom!

This is even more prove to me ..that they are not dating because all the evidence Deeks used to show Kensi he knows her...had been shown & expressed before.on the show.

If..they were secretly dating and..GASP...spending the nights together as The Stones once sang.....I'm fairly certain & would surely hope...that.the writers would have come up with.....different things for Deeks to say regarding Kensi.,... that was actually new info to Densi fans ears.

  42. Your welcome Tonya. Now...I just hope I was right about them not dating or being a couple....yet!! :)

Btw....feel free to call me Owen! Just do me a favor ok?

Whatever you do...plz never confuse me..with our weasley & dirt loving little buddy Granger!! :)

I enjoyed reading your take that Kensi' is playing hard to get and how her. ... "bring it on... cuz I actually like it" attitude to Deeks flirtations.. ...is actually her way of flirting back and playing along with Deeks romantic overtures.

After mulling over what you wrote and re watching the Densi scenes we got this episode..I've come around to your way of thinking on why Kensi is acting the way she is... towards Deeks advances towards her.

In some way.. Deeks is the real life TV version...of The Coyote..and Kensi is the Roadrunner.....

Deeks is trying hard to entice & capture the elusive Kensi....while Kensi just keeps running away from him ,,,..while having fun at Deeks expense .. ,,,whenever he gets a little too close for comfort.

It also reminds me a bit of a tennis match...where one person does something...and the other......has to react to the moves and sequences of events the other person has put into motion.....in hopes of either thwarting their opponents outright winning of the game..or... simply keeping the ball in play during a match.

Right now...Kensi is having fun ... keeping the ball in play...while Deeks is trying his best..to win the game outright!

After all the tragic stuff that has happened to Kensi ..the murder & loss of her Dad......her finance Jack disappearance.....being captured etc...Kensi is a very guarded individual..and if anybody is going to try and win her heart.....she;is determined...not to make it an easy task for them

Luckily for us Densi fans..Deeks doesn't give up easily...and is one very determined smart and tough as nails cookie and cop....,,so if anybody can win Kensi's heart & her complete faith and trust...its Deeks! :)

  43. It's a slightly obscure sci-fi show (ran from 1999 to 2003, plus a miniseries in 2004) in which the two leads had a highly complicated romantic relationship. They did eventually sort things out, which gives me hope if the parallels continue.

    ReplyDelete
  44. It was a little disappointing but when you think about it what else could they have done? it wasn't going to be any of the main characters . you don't see anyone else that works there so really it had to be someone no one knew. I do think the key is who the mole works for. I would bet it is someone we all know.

  45. Thanks to the video it does seem like Densi's fave color might be the only thing fans hadn't know before about Kensi...unless there's some sharped eyed Densi fan outhere..determind to track down the episode it was mentioned in!
What I find...curious..is why the powers that be...used these already aired excamples to prove to us..that Deeks knew Kensi really well.
IF Deeks really knew Kensi as well as he claims or the people behind the show want us to believe...they would have had Deeks tell us fans..a boatload of NEW & never before shown or heard info about Kensi...like the first guy she ever dated...kissed...or...this being Kensi...first dude she ever punched unconscious!! lol.

That has already happened on this episode with me, too, after reading comments. Actually I think that's part of the fun of sharing the experience with other fans. We can all share thoughts together - sometimes changing our minds and sometimes not! Speaking of sharing thoughts, I absolutely loved your comparisons to the Coyote & Roadrunner and a tennis match!!! Hi Stephanie. I hadn't even thought of Deeks bringing the burger to work and when I went back and watched the scene again - I think that is very, very possible. So out the window goes one of my pieces of "evidence" for them as a couple. Haha. I'm kind of happy about that! Because I don't want to feel "cheated" like you say. I think your idea of them continuing on with the banter and sharing until they realize they're almost already in a relationship and then make it official could really happen. So I again have hope that we will get to see this official coupling. Yay! Thank you for giving me hope. :)

Also, it is pretty funny how they show us no other employees in the building until they absolutely need to like this episode. Yes, team Hetty isn't the only one there.

  64. Tonya Papanikolas1 December 2014 at 03:39

Thanks for your thoughts on the mole. It definitely couldn't have been a regular character and maybe introducing the guy earlier would have been obvious. Somehow it just didn't pack a punch for me. (Maybe because mole situations usually offer surprises since they're double agents but there was no surprise since we didn't know the guy.) Regardless, I'm glad it worked for you just fine. :) And that makes sense about how you took the "pick on your own size" comment. It was interesting that people took that one different ways. I wasn't really sure how to take it but it struck me as a fat joke when I heard it. It might not have been intended that way, though. I understand the way you describe it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  66. Tonya Papanikolas1 December 2014 at 03:42

While the guy's size per se didn't bother me, I know what you mean. He sure didn't seem like the in-shape, really intelligent, highly effective type of person you would expect to be doing this kind of mole work. That made it less believable.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Tonya Papanikolas1 December 2014 at 04:06

I think you may be right about Kensi taking the burger from the fridge at work. I hadn't even thought of that but after watching the scene again, it makes sense. Now I'm back to not knowing if these two are a couple or not. Haha. It changes from week to week and moment to moment. Lol. You made me laugh when you said "nobody makes a comment on a girl's ankles unless they are sleeping together." Lol. But I understand your point that these two at one point thought Kensi was being sent away because they were growing so close. So if they are dating, they want to keep it to themselves. (Although with the way they joke around, they're not very good at keeping it to themselves. Lol.)

Interesting thought about the writers building distrust between Hetty and Deeks and Kensi and what could happen down the line. It's possible. Nice forethought. :) Someone else mentioned that Hetty snaps at Kensi all the time, too. I also thought that Granger line at the end was funny!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Wow, this review is really eliciting many comments--kudos to you! Thanks for your detailed response! A few things--first ,as to the Joelle business, I think they are bringing her up so they can end this relationship since they said somewhere that Callen is going to have a romance towards the end of the season so unless the character of Callen is changing from 'lone wolf' to a player, they need to finish one relationship before he begins another.
Second, I promise not to bring up Nell again :)!
Third, (I see you are about that burger like me and Nell :)) but as to the relationship of Kensi and Deeks itself, I know that the reason Deeks rejected Kensi was that he was scared, I just felt the way it was done, the timing of it was painful and between me and me, I think that whole scene was poorly or badly written as it was an opportunity (which was completely missed) to present a relation of for and against in 2 people who do not know yet how to deal with their feelings that could have been deep and moving. They sure have the right actors to do it with. Instead we got some questionable symbolism I am not even going to repeat here.
Lastly, as to the questioning of Hetty, I see your point. I guess it stood out to me this way because of Hetty's responses to Kensi, which, as I see from others I am not the only one to feel, have been quite disgraceful. I am grateful for a comment made about it here that perhaps the producers are doing it to build it up to a breaking point. And there is much more to say but that would be in another time.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Grasping at straws is my superpower. (It rarely comes in handy.)

    ReplyDelete
  71. Im not sure what you mean by schtick? Are you saying...the writers are trying to clue the viewers into the fact...that Deeks really doesnt know Kensi any better than the audience does?
Saying in effect to Densi fans....that we haven't been denied or missed anything thats been happening with their "thing" ?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Tonya thanks so much for letting me you know that my comparisons of Deeks & Kensi's S6 mating dance... to the Coyote & Roadrunner's never ending chase putt a smile on your dial as the Aussies like to say! :)

Talking about Kensi's playing hard to get act this season and Deeks determination to not let her repeated deflections of his romantic overtures.. slow him down in anyway ...I was reminded of a great song I love by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers called....."Thing About You"

The song can be found on You Tube..and apart from being a terrific tune..... the Thing in the title.. naturally reminds me of Densi's thing...
...even better...are the opening lyrics & chorus because they not only perfectly encapsulate.Deeks thoughts & feelings towards Kensi in S6 ..but also her less than receptive reactions to them.

    "I'm not much on mystery
    Yeah, you gotta be careful
    What you dream
I thought this might pass with time
Yeah, I thought I was satisfied

    {Chorus}:
But oh baby let me tell you
I got a thing about you
    Baby let me tell you
I got a thing about you
It don't matter what you say
It don't matter what you do
    I, I, I got a thing about you

( If I had to pick one song off the top of my noggin that best expresses the powers that be approach to Densi so far in S6....it would be......"You've Lost That Lovin Feeling!! lol )

    ReplyDelete
  73. Seems the other agents are only shown when it suits the plots...but most of the time..the HQ looks about as empty.. as a fast food joint after they declared & promised that from now..all their menu items would be Ebola free!

Looking at the episode again..I did spy mr. nobody... talking to some other people in the background of one scene ...before he was revealed to a breathless world as...( cue the dramatic music!!).,... THE MOLE!!!!!!!!!!.. :)

I also hope that the person the mole works for..is somebody we have seen on the show before.

Personally...I'm still keeping my fingers crossed its Granger..and that the car accident.was Granger's clever way of throwing Hetty & the NCIS:LA crew off his trail.

Course... the fact that Granger was poisoned within an inch of his life & almost killed in that car accident..... kinda throws cold water on my theory Granger is the mole...but....a guy can still dream... can't he???? lol

    ReplyDelete
  74. Maybe we are discovering who Kensi is in "real time," along with Deeks. The writers seem to be giving Deeks just slightly more info than we have, but not by much. I don't think we're any closer to knowing how much we've missed though. Only the writers know that (or maybe they're still figuring it out).

    ReplyDelete
  75. Ok I got ya and I think your right about the fans learning more about Kensi at the same time as Deeks does,

I also agree with you..that as far as Densi goes in S6..the writers seem to be as unsure which direction there "thing" is headed in....as us fans!!

I feel for the writers..because the way it looks to me...they have been given a very tough job by the producers in S6..

Scale Densi's thing back..while at the same time.. trying to keep Densi fans continued interest in them..a tall order & one that so far...has to be given a D minus...if Densi fans are scoring at home!!

Densi....for all intends & purposes in s6 so far...feels like it's stuck...in some sort of strange holding pattern ...the same pattern.that seems to have started at the end of the Frozen Lake episode....

Frozen Lake was episode 10 of S5...if we .throw in the other 14 episodes of S5..and include the 9 shows the have aired in S6...we end up with a whopping 23 episodes..

Simply put..it basically means..that one whole seasons worth of shows have been written & gone by since Frozen Lake..with no discernible forward progress or movement in regards to Densi. & their thing.

Shane Brennan shared his thoughts with TV Guide before S6 started ...and this is some of what he had to say will happen with Densi this season

Brennan reveals. "It isn't as black-and-white as people think, and we try to keep it as a real workplace romance, especially one with guns and explosions and people trying to kill you. We don't want to leave the audience thinking that now we've turned it off and we might turn it on again later. We're trying to integrate the ups and downs of their relationship throughout the season."

He says that they didn't want to leave the audience wondering..if they have turned off Densi' love story....but thats exactly..what has happened.

Densi fans this season...have been left to their own devices..trying to figure out if Densi is.alive and well.... or shut down this season.

As for the "real workplace romance" thing goes...Id ask Mr Brennan...what romance is he talking about...because we have seen NO romance between Deeks & Kensi in over a year.

And after 23 episodes of no progression or any real workplace romance of any note to keep us interested in their love story...he risks..losing Densi fans continued interest in not only Densi..but in the show itself.

With so many TV shows to watch on mainstream TV & Cable these days..people have a lot of choices out here... and since most folks...can only can watch..so many TV shows...it's not a wise move on his part....to do things to deliberately..frustrate & disappoint his shows fan base.

In the past few years...I've noticed that I would start watch some shows and enjoy them in the beginning....only to grow bored and drop the show... after a season or two.

So with that thought in mind....I would submit to Mr Brennan..that he's trying the patience of Densi fans,,,with no guarantees...that IF & when they decide to start up Densi again.....that these same fans..will still care at that point...or be around to see it

    ...

And I guess until the powers that be figure out and decide what they want to do with Densi.....they & their fans.. will continue to be stuck...in this frustrating holding pattern with them.....for the foreseeable future..

I don't understand why they've done it, either. The guessing game is getting old. I've also had others suggest to me that perhaps it's because of the real-life relationship of DR and ECO. While anything is possible, I feel like these two actors were already acting this storyline before DR married his brother. So they would have known what they were getting into & knew that these stories were part of the deal. So I hope that is not a reason.

Agree that it seems like we haven't gotten much closer to any real decisions on Densi since Frozen Lake. They're still in this up and down place they started then. And they did seem to do exactly what Brennan said they didn't want to do.

  83. Tonya Papanikolas4 December 2014 at 13:02

It's easy to jump into so jump on in! It's a fun community of fans, too. Since each episode is a procedural format where things are resolved by the end of the episode, it's easy to figure out what's going on. Basically Sam and Callen (LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell's characters, respectively) are partners and very funny together. Sam used to be a Navy SEAL and has a family. Callen is more of a loner, though Sam set him up with a girl he's been dating. Callen was born in Romania and his mother was a CIA agent who was later killed. He grew up in foster homes and doesn't know who his father is and that hangs over him.

Another set of partners is Deeks and Kensi. They are my favorite. Deeks is actually an LA cop who is their liaison at NCIS - but he is one of the team. He is always joking around and has a very funny sense of humor! And Kensi is tough. She lost her father in a car accident as a teenager and then she lived on the streets for a little bit. She and Deeks like each other and have kissed but they always have seemed to go back and forth about whether they should really get together. Then there was an episode last season where it looked like they went home together but nothing was ever shown. And fans have debated about it ever since if it happened. Because at different points each character wanted to be together and the other would get scared and back off. We're still debating because this season it's been left nebulous as to whether they're together or just growing closer as friends. They act like they're together and act flirty all the time but Deeks is a flirty guy so it's been a little confusing and the writers have kind of left it open-ended. Lately Kensi publicly rebuffs Deeks' advances - but with a big smile on her face. So it's like a little game they play. :)

Other than that, Hetty is their leader at NCIS. She is also tough - fearless and intimidating. But she really cares about her team. And Nell and Eric work in "Ops" - that's the operations center where they run things behind the scenes. They are the tech guys, basically. They also kind of like each other but don't act on it. Granger is the assistant director. When he first came in you didn't really trust him but now he's seeming to be more reliable and trustworthy.

And that's it. Now you're up to date on everything you need to know. Oh, except there's been a mole in the system leaking information. Last week's episode dealt with that. While they caught the mole, they don't know yet who hired the mole and what they're after. So check out last week's episode! It had some fun Kensi and Deeks scenes in it. (This week was a re-run.) And then let me know what you think. :)

Hi Rhiann! Thanks for all your great comments. I really loved hearing your perspective. After reading everyone's comments and realizing the burger must have indeed been left in the workplace fridge (somehow that didn't even cross my mind before), I started wondering if these two were not a couple after all. So it was fun to hear why you think they are. :) I agree something has changed since the submarine case. It seems like though Kensi is the one rebuffing the advances publicly, they really do seem to be more on the same page now compared with last season. And those little moments you mention have to be taken into account. Like you say - the HOW Deeks says things and his tone and Kensi's smile & response are telling. They do read "intimate," however you define that. And I like your point that while the facts alone don't mean they're in a relationship, all the moments added up seem to point to that. Kensi's winks and smiles do say something different than her words. Plus, like you say, just because the burger happened at work doesn't mean they didn't spend the night at his/her place. It does seem like they are spending a lot of time at each other's places.

I also agree that they do seem to want to keep a line between work and home. And Kensi is better than that at Deeks. But though I feel the writers are teasing us and keeping us guessing - which mirrors the back and forth from last season - I also think there is a new level of closeness this season. I think you're right - the actors are playing the characters like they're "in love." I'm not sure what will happen next - like you say: either they are together already and we're kept guessing w/ little hints, or they are not together and they will likely get there soon. But they are definitely more than partners. They probably are still figuring things out. So maybe we are figuring it out along with them.

It's a great point that Kensi has become a lot more open with Deeks and is now showing him the best and worst parts of her. That is a huge step for her. I have really loved how much they are communicating and talking about things this season.

Glad to hear that you didn't have any problems w/ the controversial episodes from last season. And I'm also glad to hear that you don't mind the Densi relationship happening off screen. I have heard from others that feel the same way. Unfortunately I am not one of them. Haha. I want to see more because I enjoy seeing the romance played out. That's part of the fun for me. But I think my major problem with not seeing it has been that these little "moments" we keep getting are left so ambiguous, leaving fans to debate whether they are a couple or not. If we knew it for sure, it would be a little different (though I admit I'd still want to see it).

Btw, that "shy bladder" part was funny. I didn't even think how Deeks mirrored Marty in that but it's so true! Lol. I love it even more now. And I didn't think about how she's a plant killer and still thought that Deeks still gave her a plant. That's great.

As for everything else, I also love that we haven't figured out who is behind the mole. (You're probably right - it will be left for later in the season.) And I understand what you mean about the "pick on someone your own size" comment. That makes sense. Interesting that you thought the "people change, sometimes they lose their way" comment from Hetty was about herself. Wishful thinking or not, that's interesting. Oh, and I know what you mean about Nell's reactions to Hetty's polygraph answers being simply for comedic reasons. There is nothing wrong w/ being too logical! Haha. That's a good trait, not a fault. :)

Haha, that is something I cannot see happening (thankfully!)

Yes it's so true being new parents could make a different and we would never know. We never will. Lol. It is interesting that they are going to be focusing on Callen's love life while we can't get any definitive answers on Densi. Though I'm beginning to wonder if we will see Callen's love life, either - I'm starting to think the writers/producers' definition of focusing attention on someone's love life is different than ours. Haha. ;)

  88. Brennan 's indecisiveness in regards to Densi.. is alas...not the 1 st time..he & the other show runners..have made storyline decisions on the show that left fans puzzled and scratching their heads.

For instance...why are they completely ignoring and not resolving the White Ghost storyline?.

Fans still what to know...why did Hetty keep secret & never tell Kensi...that the reason Hetty sent Kensi to Afghanistan...was because Hetty either had good intel or suspected... that Jack. ( Kensi's former fiance) was the White Ghost?

Maybe Brennan and the other people behind the show..are biding their time...and have known all along..that they will get back to solving all the mysteries & questions fans have regarding the White Ghost storyline....but...judging by the amount of time that has gone by this the ending of last season...I'm having my doubts that they will do so.

There were so many unanswered questions after we last saw Jack., Kensi & Deeks together in Afghanistan.

Was Jack..the White Ghost? Did Hetty know all along..where Jack was.....but kept that info a secret from Kensi...and how would Kensi..Deeks and the rest of the team react and think of Hetty afterwards..if that info about Jack whereabouts....was ever divulged to her team>

It was be such an explosive & dramatic moment....if we ever saw an episode where Kensi finds out that not only did Hetty know where Jack was all this time..but that she sent Kensi overseas...to kill her former fiance!

Instead of seeing that scene and having those other questions resolved..we have had...9 ho hum and fairly run of the mill episodes to start off S6 in their new night and time.

Did Brennan & Co.. just think that fans would forget...or think it was A-ok.,...for Hetty.to deliberately hide this info about Jack from a member of her team..and betray Kensi in this way?

Why would they decide to start off a new time period & night...without finishing up what they started with the White Ghost stuff...and open the season instead..with these pesterian episodes involving Hetty's joke of a congressional hearing?

  89. Your 1000% right about that!

Their ideal date..would probably entail Callen & his lady love..sharing a tender moment hiding behind an over turned dinner table... while being pinned down by automatic gun fire & incoming RPG's!! lol

  90. lol True...but you gotta admit..it would be a pretty funny episode to watch!! :)

  91. Just wanted to say you did a wonderful job explaining who the major
characters are & what the show is about show to Jessica!!

PS! Here's hoping this tread hits the 100 comment mark!! :)

I know others who were upset this Hetty situation wasn't resolved, too. And like you, I don't think they're going to address it. But then again, it could always come back into play at a time we're not expecting.

I was always under the impression that Hetty sent Kensi to Afghanistan hoping that Kensi would NOT kill Jack because she knew that although he was the "White Ghost," he hadn't really done anything wrong. But Kensi still never learned all Hetty's knowledge and I can't imagine she would be too happy knowing that Hetty knew Jack's location all this time.

Oh, thanks. Haha. I had to remember some history I often forget. And I was trying to think of what was relevant this season.

Oh, btw it just hit the 100 comment mark! :)

    ReplyDelete
  95. Thats what I was thinking and hoping was the reason Hetty chose to send Kensi overseas..because Hetty knew if Kensi ever saw Jack..she would not shoot him..

As for resolving the White Ghost questions..it would be really disappointing & shocking.....if they didn't devote at least 1 episode.. to answering all the questions those White Ghost centric episodes in S5 brought up...

It would be..MUST SEE TV...( unlike an episode...featuring Granger in a blond wig!! lol)... to see Kensi confronting Hetty regarding Jack ..and why Hetty did not tell Kensi etc.

  96. lol 103 comments..last time I looked..so congrats on hitting the century mark!!!

Honestly..I've had more fun writing & talking about the show with you while reading everybody else thoughts & comments.....than I have actually watching the show this season!! :)

  97. lol I couldnt watch it either..If they ever did air a show like that..Id be watching it..behind my couch...with my eyes have closed and my hands over my years..

That's exactly what I thought. It would be nice to see more on this but it's been so long I don't think it will happen. You never know, though. It would be definitely great to watch!!

  100. Exactly what I was thinking.

  101. Not to make it worse, but have you seen the latest video? I can't figure out what Deeks' friend is saying about Kensi. Is he saying she's bad? Bangin'? This is driving me nuts!! https://www.cbspressexpress.com/cbs-entertainment/shows/ncis-los-angeles/video

Wow - it's really hard to tell, isn't it? I would assume he's saying bangin'... but again, it's unclear! Why, oh, why, is everything unclear? Lol. Still, I'm going w/ hot & bangin'! Yes. :)

  103. Densi's definitely in a holding pattern. I'm just so curious to know whether or not the writers/producers have a game plan. The deleted flashback scene of D & K kissing means there was a time when the writers were going in one direction, but why did they back off and change that storyline? I'd love to know the thought process on that.

I might be the only fan who liked the arc Daniela's pregnancy created (although I was so bummed at the end of Frozen Lake when Deeks was walking out of the building). Of course I hated that they were apart, but I found their creative solution for hiding the pregnancy kind of cool. It led to some interesting character development and allowed for production of the greatest episode of the entire series (IMHO): Spoils of War.

I hadn't done the math, but 23 episodes? Damn, that's a lot of time. All S5 episodes after Spoils of War could have been better used for interesting character and team development. There was plenty of time to create a couple of meaty plot and/or character arcs without alienating the non-Densi-obsessed fans.

I hate to rag on the writers though, since they do such a great job at a difficult task. They're as responsible as the cast members are for creating the characters we love. I'm just so damned confused, and while a little of that is good for plot tension, it gets frustrating when the crumbs they give us are so tiny.

My guess as to why they've slowed Densi down is to gain a new audience. They want a core group of action-loving fans, but to their credit, they also see the importance of the Densi faction and want to take advantage of it.

Part of the fun of shipping is to see it develop onscreen. All the tension and angst are what make for good chemistry (although not so much in real life!). New fans wouldn't have the excitement of watching the "hunt." Once shippers are hooked on the characters, they want to see some sort of consummation (physical or otherwise), and new fans need time to get there. Densi fans aren't that hard to please though. Personally, just a good, long kiss would keep me happy for quite some time.

I believe ECO and DR are professional enough to handle a little more physical romance, even though they're in-laws. Sure, it's like kissing your sister, but I would hate to think that could be a reason for the slowdown. It just doesn't seem like them as actors who've been doing this a long time.

The really depressing part is that they filmed the love scene, which could have been used at any point as flashback material. Since they included it on the DVD, I assume it can't be used on any future episodes, therefore allowing for all the uncertainty in the Densi storyline. :(

So there you have it. We shall see what tomorrow brings...

Interesting thought on slowing Densi down to gain a new audience so new fans have the excitement of watching the hunt. Very interesting! Never thought of that. I really wonder if you're right. Well... like you say, we will see what tomorrow brings. I hope one of these weeks we are actually going to gain some more clarity on things. :)

  105. I saw a preview for the Christmas episode that hinted at a possible kiss, but I'll believe it when I see it (or not).

    ReplyDelete
  106. From the trailers for this Monday's episode...it looks like....Densi fans might..( and thats the key word.....MIGHT!!!! lol).. actually get to see that long awaited kissing scene we all have been clamoring for!

When it comes to Densi...I don't trust Brennan ...as far as I could throw him & his wallet ...so lets just hope...they don't mess things up too much on Monday night.

I just have a feeling that IF...we actually see Kensi & Deeks kissing...it won't be a long one.

Most likely scenario...since it's happened many times in the past whenever Deeks & Kensi are having a "moment" ....something or someone..will interrupt them.

( If I see Eric skate up to Deeks & Kensi to tell them to get to Ops..ASAP...Im going to throw my hairpiece at the TV!!! )

As for the edited out love scene on the DVD...I can't see why they couldn't show it to us again in a flashback.

By that I mean..there's no law..saying they couldn't do it.

Alas...I think they won't..because they want to keep Densi fans guessing..as to what happened after they left the restaurant.

Whoever decided to cut out that scene...blew it...because had we seen it .. it would have made the episode way more powerful & memorable.....at least for Densi fans anyway.

This keeping Densi fans in the dark ..as to whats going on with them......is silly and dumb to me.

If we saw them together as a couple..it wouldn't hurt the show..it would improve it....but instead..they have decided..on this go slow approach when it comes to Densi.....which in the end..is pleasing no one...and I think..hurting the show.

I don't see how it helps the show's ratings...if 2 of it's most popular characters and their storyline..are being deliberately downplayed.

That makes no sence to me.

Here's hoping that Mondays promised Densi kiss..brings in the show's highest ratings this season.

Maybe IF that happens.....Brennan & Co will wake up and realize...Mo Densi = Mo Ratings!!

But then again..who knows with these guys...they seem like there way more comfy...blowing stuff up..then showing actual human emotions.

( Maybe...unbeknownst to us...Deeks & Kensi are part Vulcan..and they only get the hots for one another..every 7 years..and thats the reason..and excuse the writers use.)

  107. Jan. 19th...does it seem that Hetty's role is being diminished? She gave a unique character to the show ... she held it all together...she holds all the crew together. The actor who seems to be almost replacing her ... Ferrar ... is so grim and useless. I miss the intrigue Hetty always brought to the show....I hope they are not fading her out...
