Stuart Townsend has landed a multi-episode arc on Elementary, EW has learned exclusively.

The Betrayal alum, whose credits include The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Queen of the Damned, will play Joan’s new boss, Del. When Watson embarks on a part-time gig as an investigator for a global insurance firm, she expects a fresh source of fascinating cases, but it’s her appealing new supervisor who proves to be the most interesting thing about the job.

“We’ll find out that the company his hired Joan handful of times with small assignments, and she’s managed to catch their eye and they want her to join on a more permanent basis,” executive producer Rob Doherty tells us. “When we meet Stuart’s character, Sherlock is finding out about all of this for the first time and has to figure out to what degree this might change the dynamics of the partnership again.”

Could Del be a love interest for Joan, who is already dating Andrew (Raza Jaffrey)? “Have you seen Stuart Townsend?” Doherty exclaims. “He was Dorian Grey for crying out loud! I won’t say he’s not an interest.”

Townsend will appear in the series’ first episode back in 2015.
