No, the episode before it is a far better way to think of the official ending. Dex captures the guy, lets real justice start handling these cases, says goodbye to harry, leaves Deb to take him into custody giving her a promotion. Everything is tied up. End. The final episode is so terrible it ruined the rest of the series for me, I will never be able to rewatch Dexter.
I would have thought the finale was okay if the episode ended with Deb dying. Everything from Dex taking Deb's body out of the hospital and onwards is what made the finale so terrible to me.
Nope, because Deb still died and Dexter didn't die with her. That's my dream finale - if the boat went crazy during the storm and Dexter drowned and his body fell next to hers. It wasn't suicide, he was just giving up, so to speak. That's my finale, and I'm sticking to it.
I liked the finale more than most to begin with, but I did have some issues with the final lumberjack scene. I think it would have been some better without it.
Even without the lumberjack scene there would have been one somewhat major flaw for me. The horrendous VFX of the storm as Dexter took the Slice of Life out for one last victim drop. The VFX made what should have been a very dramatic moment almost comical.
That said, I thought the finale was quite good before that final scene.I expected it to play out how it did and maybe that kept me from disliking it as so many did. I thought the story connected with the themes of the last couple seasons perfectly.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
The final option on this poll just made me laugh out loud. Oh Dexter the show that used to be great..
ReplyDeleteThe lumberjack scene wasn't the problem... it was everything that led up to it.
ReplyDeleteNo. It was dreadful in so many ways, besides the lumberjack scene alone.
ReplyDeleteI would have liked to see Deb's body being dropped into the ocean, the camera follows it. Roll silent credits.

It might have been marginally better but that scene wasn't my only problem w/the final episode or even the final season.

ReplyDeleteI loved the series as a whole but the finale was a little disappointing.

ReplyDeleteNope it still would've sucked.

I would have liked the finale without the lumberjack scene, Deb's death and Dexter's son staying with Hannah.
