The SpoilerTV Favourite TV Series Competition 2014 - Day 31/32 - Final - Castle vs. Outlander

10 Oct 2014

Update: The winner has been announced here!

Hey all,

Six days of nominations. Over one hundred thousand votes have been cast in the thirty days of the competition so far. And it has all come down to this. One final poll to decide SpoilerTV's Favourite Series for 2014.

Our competitors are Castle and Outlander. Both are heavyweights in the competition. Both have huge fanbases that desperately want their show to win. But only one can.

The final will last 48 hours. A quick reminder to please remain civil in the comments. It goes without saying that there may be some of you not happy with this final pairing, or that could still be frustrated that one of these shows knocked out your favourite (yes, this happened to me - poor Person of Interest). However, please don't start attacking other fans or fangroups in the comments. Assuming that the final is a close one, it can easily be exciting even for us neutrals, and there's no need to ruin that by making rude comments.

Speaking of neutrals, if you aren't fans of either show, leave a comment saying who you think will win, and who you'd have wanted to win this competition. Let's all enjoy this final.

Good luck to both sets of fans. May it be a nail-biting affair that goes on until the final minutes on Friday. 48 hours...

Reminder of the (adjusted) rules:

1) Two shows will go into battle in a poll, where after exactly 24 48 hours, the leading show will win the battle and will win the competition!
2) Vote for your favourite, spread the word with your friends & fans.
3) Comment on what you voted for on in the comments below.
4) Have fun. This is a friendly & competitive competition. Please do not start attacking other fans or fangroups in the comments, because this really isn't what this competition is about.

  1. I have no vote today. I wanted Person of Interest to win, but it may have lost to the eventual winner. This should be a good final!

  2. Oh boy, this is going to be a real nailbiter folks! Both of these shows have VERY passionate fan bases. I watch and love both of these shows so I'll be happy with whoever wins but my vote goes to Outlander. It would be nice to have a rookie be the champion this year.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I don't like anything about Castle but I really liked the one episode I've seen of Outlander so that's my vote. Hopefully I can binge the rest of the season this weekend. This is going to be a fun final.

    Castle Always!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Ok, I'm thinking here. Castle has given me 7 years of light, campy fun. Mostly, at least. And Outlander is such a great show, it has so much potential and I am going to vote for it because of what I just said, and because well Castle is going to loose, so I'm betting on the winning horse, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Awesome job running the competition. Great stuff, been a lot of fun.

    ReplyDelete
  7. How on earth is Outlander loosing? Vote people!

    ReplyDelete
  8. With all due respect... Castle? Seriously? Only Outlander's photography already knock Castle ten times!

    ReplyDelete
  9. We're just a few minutes in. Spread the word on Twitter, FB, and fansites, and they'll all be here before you know it. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  10. Don't underestimate the power of the Sassenachs!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I am a fan of Castle and have been since early days; HOWEVER, I have voted for OUTLANDER, a fabulously well-done series. Never felt the same anticipation for ANY TV series!?!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yes, thank you for running this for us. It's been fun. Now that fall is in full swing, think of some new competitions to get us through the winter hiatus, please. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Castle. Always!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Outlander, of course!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ha, I've already got the Episode Competition, Dahne has the Character Cup and we (Adam usually) has this - all during the summer hiatus. Are there any other competitions we could even run?

And the winter hiatus is only 2/3 weeks. It's not that bad ;)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hmm i don't think i'm going to vote. For me neither is good enough to be in the final, though i definitely think Outlander's half season has been better than all of Castle seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Gresat job, Bradley. This is my favorite contest of all. It's always good to see people explain why tehy love a show. Maybe we can organize the summer contests more next year so that this ends before the fall season starts.

  18. ✞ jess(U)s ✞8 October 2014 at 22:23

    Castle.

    ReplyDelete
  19. While it is not a contest, we do have the SpoilerTV Awards during the midseason break.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Breaking pattern and voting for Outlander. Let's hope that it's second half is as good as the first half was.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yeah. We had it all in sync and then Adam's month and a half absence of not running, nor asking me/someone else to run it meant that I coudn't start it until September. Not really that bad a thing though - many more active fans during the start of the fall season than during hiatus ;)

Next year we'll have it all organised.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh I know. I didn't mean it as a negative. It's just I cannot participate as much as I want if it isn't in the summer. :-P Plus I miss having a reason to come to SpoilerTV every day in the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I don't think I was here last season for those. Looking forward to them!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Not fair! Castle is my favorite program when Outlander is not on! But I have to pick Outlander.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well I was half wrong about who'd be in the finale.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Set it as your homepage ;) then you see it everyday.

Yeah, it'd boost the site stats during the summer, but equally we probably wouldn't get 1.7k votes within 45 minutes lol.

    ReplyDelete
  27. With all due respect, Castle and Outlander is set in completely different locations, so of course photography is different and it's not all there is to a TV show.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Who did you say?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Basically there are categories kind of like the Emmy's and you nominate your favorites. Then the awards are revealed a couple at a time.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Nope, all of these were so much fun to watch, you all have spoiled us. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Outlander only because we need a new winner.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Roxana Cruz-Savage8 October 2014 at 22:30

    Outlander!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ha, thank you very much. Thanks also goes to Dahne for the Character Cup.

It's been great fun to run.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Castle and Supernatural, but seeing as both were up against each other in the semi-finals it would've been impossible for them to both be in the final.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm positive that it's going to be better.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ha, should've checked that draw ;)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Well, this time no contest for me! Outlander any time over Castle...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Outlander for the win!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Outlander...fan for 20 years!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh, I don't remember being here for that. That will be fun. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  41. While I like Castle, I have never been dying for the next episode like I am for Outlander! I can hardly wait until April!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Its the Caitriots & Heughligans VS the Fillionaires & Stanatics! I know these things cause I'm a dork and love both shows but I think I will vote for Outlander on this one! Fuzzy Knees over Brown Coats!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I have to go with Outlander! It has been brave enough to showcase action, drama, history and sex from a woman's viewpoint. All the while, with the most beautiful scenery, music, dialogue. Moments of sheer poetry, moments of horrifying, gritty carnage, moments that brought tears to my eyes. Memories like scattered pearls.........

    ReplyDelete
  44. Castle is an intriguing Plot. But I have to tell you, I've been a fan of the Oulander Book Series for more than 20 years and we finally have it on the screen! And with Ron Moore producing, I am beyond thrilled! STARZ read all eight books before agreeing to the first season, and ok'd the second season after the 1st Episode aired!
The built in fan base is over 20 million for the books and the Author is a Consultant. And the story spans the Jacobite Rebellion to the American Revolution!

If you haven't seen it, please watch! It ain't your average Reality Show! 😉

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love Outlander, but I love Castle too. My final vote goes to the underdog, Castle. But it is nice to know that I win either way. : )

    ReplyDelete
  46. I was right! Castle and Outlander battling it out, shall be interesting. Castle for me!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Jeanette Van Kleeck8 October 2014 at 23:32

    I voted Outlander!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I have been a fan of Castle since the very first episode in March 2009 but I'm voting for Outlander! I record my favorite shows and watch them at my convenience. This is the ONLY series I actually watch during its allotted scheduling and record to watch AGAIN I'm that hooked!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hail for fuzzy knees!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Outlander for the win, great show.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Castle, of course! Altough, we all know who the winner is!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Castle for me today.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Voted for my favorite show Castle, this is going to be a monster of a final, Castle with stood fan favorite that won three years in a row, come on Castle fans we can do this!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Yes, seriously! I´m yet to check Outlander, but I´m a Castle fan from day 1, so even if end enjoying Outlander, I´d always vote Castle:)

    ReplyDelete
  55. I wanted to put my two cents in as well, this has been a wonderful diversion as we get ready for all our awesome fall viewing, all the competitions here at Spoilertv is most definetly a fun thing for me, I'm here everytime Thanks for the entertainment!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. no comment.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Would you believe it? They have arrived! Great idea! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Lisa Ann Levesque9 October 2014 at 00:20

so excited! goooooooo outlander!!!!!!!!!! this really makes me want to check out castle tho.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I've been a Castle fan, but being an avid reader and watching the first season of Outlander come to life has been a thrill! It's filmed in beautiful Scotland, brings 1945 colliding into 1743, pre-Culloden War time. The blending of the time-periods, amazing cast, directors, craftsmen to everyone involved in the adaptation of herself's 8 novel plus...series is delicious!

    ReplyDelete
  60. We're also talking premium cable vs. network...those aren't even apples and oranges anymore, they're nectar of the gods vs. brussel sprouts (the way your grandma used to fix them, not the good way that Bobby Flay makes them)! And as a Castle-obsessive fan, I will only vote for them. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Outlander of course, ye ken?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Linda-OutlanderFans9 October 2014 at 00:59

    Outlander

    ReplyDelete
  63. Outlander for the win. So awesome :)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Outlander has dominated this competition, so I say they will probably win.

I have to understand what's so great about this show some day, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  65. There's been 8 episodes! I still shocked by the fan support so fast. I like the show (I don't like Castle anymore, and as much as I adore Nathan Fillion it's never been destination TV for me). But objectively, it's just starting to find it's feet.

Maybe this sort of response to just the beginning is affirming that they've been successful convincing book fans that they are going to provide a faithful adaption, so all those fans are comfortable with understanding where things are going and what things are going to be. Like it makes it more of a known quantity?

    ReplyDelete
  66. I don't disagree. I voted against Outlander more times than not in this competition simply because it does not have enough episodes. I find it hard to vote for anything that hasn't even finished its first season, even if I like the series so far. (Overall I gave the first half an A- in Last Week in TV on Monday.) However, in this case, it is more a vote against Castle than a vote for Outlander for me. Castle is another show ruined by shipping for me and I am so thoroughly sick of partners becoming lovers these days that I am dropping any show that goes there. It irks me that much now that it is TV's second biggest cliche after love geometry.

    ReplyDelete
  67. So I voted Castle but clearly I need to get in on this Outlander busienss because people are loving it!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Yay Castle! This has been a really fun competition, and I'm so glad my favorite show is in the final! Good luck to both shows though!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Outlander fans come out in droves for every competition we can find because everything about the show is so very well-crafted, we want everyone to watch it. More viewers - more seasons for all of us. Please check it out.

    ReplyDelete
  70. You're so very wrong about Castle, trust me.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Happy for Outlander, I hope it can win (though with the extended voting time, I'm sure the Castle fandom will rush in). Not only it is an excellently made show on its own right (great cast, beautiful pictures, well paced drama and fun, the whole show has its "air"), it managed to keep all the book's merits and improved all of its flaws - a rare achievement, deserved to be appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
  72. As a book fan it would have really been hard to choose between Supernatural and Outlander but against Castle its an easy choice for Outlander

    ReplyDelete
  73. Like, two months ago Castle would've beaten almost any show.

    We're so fickle here...

    ReplyDelete
  74. I agree with you shipping pushed me out too.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Good to know that weighing different choices and then making a decision is "fickle"? I would call it mature, but YMMV.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I voted for Castle, have never seen Outlander..will have to wait for the DVD.

    ReplyDelete
  77. As in, Castle would win one of thses things one week and then like 2 months later Supernatural would win THEN OUAT would win.

Maybe fickle was the wrong word. How about "loose"?

    ReplyDelete
  78. Outlander for me. Brilliant show!

    ReplyDelete
  79. I can understand who voted for their own fav show, but these ones who criticize the other show make me mad! They are two different show! Castle is a dramedy/crime series and Outlander is a fantasy. So they are two differents things. With different characters, places, scenography, etc.

It's okay to vote for your fav show but don't say anything bad about the other. Specially if you don't watch or don't follow anymore the show.

After that: it's just a poll. No one win something ;)

    ReplyDelete
  80. Seriously!? Do you know they are two different show, right!? -.- With two different stories, different places, etc. So... Now can I ask you... SERIOUSLY!? -.-

    ReplyDelete
  81. Nothing left to vote for but congratulations to the fans of the last two shows standing. It has been an fun well-run contest. See you next year.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Hah.. Castle is catching up... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  83. It's hard this time. Even some Castle fan voted for Outlander.
I just don't approve people who said "bad" things on the other show.

Even because Castle is a show of 7 seasons, who show a lot of things through the years...
Then there's Outlander is a new series, so the "news" is always the news XD and then there's also the books about it, so the fanbase is huge :)

If Castle are going to lose... I just want to say that being in the FINAL ROUND is an amazing thing! :D

    ReplyDelete
  84. Never heard of Outlander; what's it about?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Sorry to be that guy but I've seen people spell the word lose or losing wrong about 10 times in the last 2 days & it's bugging the hell out of me!

    ReplyDelete
  86. I can't be wrong about my own opinion since I know my tastes far better than you do.

    ReplyDelete
  87. No vote for me today. Good luck to the finalists.

    ReplyDelete
  88. http://www.starz.com/originals/outlander
An incredible story that has a little bit of everything - historical, time travel, romance, battles (epic ones at that, from history), a little comedy, incredible landscapes (all filmed in Scotland) and a book series that makes every other books series you've ever read feel like children's literature. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  89. Whatever.
I want to know what happened with our cancellation competition. Haven't they cancel anything yet?

    ReplyDelete
  90. It is the first time ever that a show that I watch makes it to the finale. So I happily vote for Outlander. :-)
I would have liked to see Game of Thrones vs Lost in the finale, but at least I had a show to vote for.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I had to vote between my two favorite shows? Argh the pressure ;)

    ReplyDelete
  92. So outlander must have an amazing rating and audience. At least 2.5 and 12 mil.

    ReplyDelete
  93. What makes you say that? There is no correlation between popularity on the Internet and ratings/viewership.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I don't understand the point you're trying to make? TWD is on a much larger cable network AMC. Outlander is on Starz.

    ReplyDelete
  95. this is the first time I read about outlander, I don't know what it is and I don't know what Starz is. I just asked.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Karen Moyer Richards9 October 2014 at 16:03

Really like Castle but it is just a show. Outlander turned me into an obsessed fan!

    ReplyDelete
  97. No vote. I like Outlander, but it's not even in my top 20.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I am a big fan of both Castle and Outlander and never miss an episode of either, but I'm voting for Outlander. I've read the entire series of books several times (except the one that was just published in June) and have traveled to hear Diana Gabaldon (the author) speak and sign books. Ron Moore and his team have done a brilliant job adapting the original material and the whole series is just hauntingly beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Thanks very much. Glad you've had fun. I have too, and that's really what it's all about.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Nope. Season's only been going 3 weeks. When there is some cancellations (likely very soon) there will be an update.

    ReplyDelete
  101. At least you're guaranteed to win ;)

    ReplyDelete
  102. Ok, thanks for response. Hope thy won't keep us waiting.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Castle has had more time to build an audience and is on a larger,,easter to watch network.Outlander has a built in fan base from the books and the stunning photography that comes with period dramas. Were it not lost out there in the Starz network I don't doubt that my personal favorite, and most amazing show on all levels would easily have won. That is Da Vinci's Demons.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Castle stories are getting worn out...Outlander all the way!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Sorry! I'l hide behind the fact that english is not my first laguage, Spanish is, so a typo here and a typo there don't bother me at all.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I like Castle! But Outlander is so much more than just a show. The characters are almost like family. I've "known" them for over 20 years. :)

    ReplyDelete
  107. Outlander all the way.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Book to Television/Big screen. Rarely lives up to the images. Outlander took the characters, brought them to the screen in my opinion better than they were in the book. Absolutely stunning work done by all. Castle was my favorite show till now.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Voting for Outlander - my fav show by far - I'm completely obsessed with this show

    ReplyDelete
  110. I kinda felt the same way it felt disloyal to vote agianst the Capt Mal! But it's fun to get the word out about what a great show Outlander is helps to get those ratings up!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Outlander! I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  112. You should check it out. It's an amazing show / book series!

    ReplyDelete
  113. I LOVE both! But I had to vote for Outlander. I LOVED the books, well most of them anyway and I haven't read MOBY yet as I am re-reading the series.

    ReplyDelete
  114. let see outlander "obsessed fans". I little respect for a show (Castle) which is on its 7 (seven) season and it still has 10 mill. viewers. ok?
is it necessary to insult another show to show your love for your serie? I don't understand all the comments about Castle on this poll.
I don't think you will see me on this website again.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I believe it was the Castle is "worn out", "just a show", and "cliche" remarks. I like Castle but... I don't think people meant to be insulting. Just expressing their opinions about a show.

    ReplyDelete
  116. They don't meant, maybe... but they do : ) it's not the first time. And quoting an actor and his account on twitter...
"It costs nothing to say something kind. Even less to shut up altogether" ;)

No need to despreciate the other show. Vote for what do you want, just that.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Can anyone tell me what is Outlander? Like seriously.
    CASTLE!

    ReplyDelete
  118. I think people are giving the rationale for their choice. If you don't say why you are voting the way you are, what's the point of commenting? There'd be no discussion. Your vote says what you picked, the "why" of it all goes in the comments.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I don't watch either, but my vote is definitely for sale.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I'm in the exact same boat, NanaAboo! Although I like Castle and LOVE Outlander. :D

    ReplyDelete
  121. It's not losing at the moment, Antonia. :)

    ReplyDelete
  122. Totally shocked to read in the comments below that Castle has won for the last three years in a row. Seriously? Never knew there were that many diehard fans for it. What a great way for Outlander to be recognized. It will make the victory of Outlander being crowned Favorite TV Series of 2014 that much sweeter! :D Tulach Ard!!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  123. Not true. There is this competition every year since 2010 and the winners in each year were:

    2010: Supernatural
    2011: Supernatural
    2012: Castle
    2013: Supernatural

Castle did make to the finals in the last three years in a row, but have won only one time.

    ReplyDelete
  124. 17,000 votes, that is amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  125. It is so funny (or weird?) that in a portal about TV SHOWS people are asking where can they now something about a tv show...

    ReplyDelete
  126. I haven't seen any demand for respect eg. for NCIS, which is in its 15th year and had about one and a half more viewers than Castle has - just to be fair on the same ground.

I checked back the whole comment thread. two, maybe three comments told something negative about Castle, and even those weren't harsh and mainly, those were explanations of their choices. That's something this site always encourages. OTOH a great number of commenters expressed that they voted for Outlander, but they like Castle as well.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Oh dear. And there I was thinking it was going to be super close all they way, a la the semi-finals. Oh well. Congrats to both fandoms! :)

    ReplyDelete
  128. Definitely Outlander by far..
    Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  129. I voted for Castle. I am a Castle fan. However, if Outlander does win...well they actually went through with their wedding so... #Karma :D

    ReplyDelete
  130. I have no vote day either. All my favorites shows (notably Person of Interest, Lost, The X-Files, Buffy or Once Upon A Time) are gone now. That "Outlander" show is intruiting. I gave up after the pilot but the votes keep me interested. I will certainly watched the first season.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I highly recommend it! The pilot and maybe the first one or two episodes are a bit... hm, slow (it's a very close adaptation from the book, and during the books first 50 to 100 pages isn't much action either), but it's definitely worth to keep watching.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Pilot I likes but it was a bit slow but from episode 3 on the shows was just crazy good!

    ReplyDelete
  133. I think this show is a little slow in general, but - if it has any sense - it's a good "slowness". It's more about giving time to the story elements, to the characterisation instead of rushing through them.

After some of the episodes I felt sometime that "well, it didn't moved ahead too much", but it was an afterthought - while I watched the episode I simply enjoyed it and never felt either artificially prolonged or boring.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Outlander has been quite a surprise; I never thought it would get this far. Its fandom is huge!

    ReplyDelete
  135. Didn't Beauty and The Beast won in 2013?

    ReplyDelete
  136. It gets like 1 million and 0.2 rating on Starz. Most of its audience comes from internet platform viewership and DVR where the show jumps to 5 million per week

  137. really people? year after year after year we see both supernatural and castle in semi final and at least one of them in finals, and now castle is in teh final again agaist a show with only EIGHT episodes, beating shows more entertaining and with a full story told, and some of the series with more than FIFTY episodes. and its winning again agaist castle this time. (i hate both shows anyway) but seriously? you people need to make a revaluation in your tiny little brains and be reasonable with your options and the staff of this forum be alert to the multiple votes in this type of competitions (everybody knows this happens every year). a suggestion to the staff is do a small competition to separate channels and one for cable channels combined. with this at least normal people could make smart choices and not be here all day voting and voting for the same show.

  138. a fandom based on EIGHT episodes? i never seen anything like this.

  139. Nope. BatB won the episode competition in 2013, but SPN won the series comp.

  140. I don't have the stats handy but Castle and Supernatural haven't always been the finalists or semi finalists.

We block repeat voters, so no, there aren't the same people voting all day.

Rather than criticising fans, how about appreciating that people are passionate about a show and are loyal to it?

  141. You're a fan of the show or not, since when does it matter how many episodes a show has to be classified as one? If fans only started excisting after a numerous amount of episodes no series would ever get renewed and past a first season. Your reasoning is really dumb, sorry.

  142. The latest episode (1.08) got a 0.4 and about 1,4 million Live+SD: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2014/09/30/saturday-cable-ratings-college-football-wins-night-attack-on-titan-hell-on-wheels-doctor-who-outlander-more/308412/

  143. I used to be a fan of Castle, but they lost me about 2 seasons ago, when everything became too cheesy for my taste. Outlander gripped me from the very first episode, even though I've never heared of it before. So of course, Outlander all the way <3

Oh man relax! This is supposed to be fun. At the end of the day no one wins anything so why all the ranting? You hate both shows, that's fine but please don't call people who are passionate about a show stupid. I think my "tiny little brain" is just fine.

  145. There was already a huge online community of fans who had been reading the series of novels over the past 20 years, and the show is an excellent adaptation. :)

  146. The first book of the series was published in 1991 and it has a huge fandom. Though I must say, I wasn't able to read even the first book (and never heard about them before the show), yet I think it's an excellent tv series and a lot of my friends are in the same boat. So while the fandom wasn't formed on the eight episodes aired till now, I can see it will be growing as the show proceeds.

  147. That's a pretty good number for Starz

    ReplyDelete
  148. Ah! Got the two of them mixed up. Noted! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  149. I know, people talk about how the books forged this strong fandom, but that didn't make GoT's fandom as massive as Outlander has proven to be. It's just... unreal! And awesome!

  150. I'm on one of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series forums and I am so looking forward to the development of those books into TV. I only hope the creators bring as much justice to them as the Outlander creators seemingly brought to that series. My only worry is the casting. SK's books are so well written, the characters so well developed and beloved, it's hard to imagine any "real" person being as good as our own imagination. Our own fantasy of what the hero's and villains look like. I know Acheron is larger than life for me and I have not seen one actor I could imagine playing him. That is what worries me about these adapted TV shows. Outlander apparently hit a gold mine with their casting.

  151. My vote goes for Castle.

  152. Castle is my favorite. Good luck all,but I really hope Castle wins!!!!

  153. Come on Lassie's, Let's show how the Highlanders move!!!! Outlander!!!!!!

  154. I have to say I had real doubts on Outlanders casting and it took me till episode 2 to be 100% sold on them. But Ron Moore and Crew have done a stellar job of this show. It helps that everyone and I mean EVERYONE on this show are fans of the books, many are long time fans too! Even the actors all seem to have read the books Sam Heughan pulls a lot of Jamie’s idiosyncrasy’s from the books and has uses them as part of his acting. The little details of tapping his fingers or touching the back of his head. These are things only the book readers would notice or even care about. I cannot say enough good things about Cait Balfe she was born to play Claire Beauchamp! She's a smart ass, she's funny, she has Claire’s perfect "Glass
Face" You can see her trying to think on screen and it's a beautiful thing indeed! And talk about a woman with elegance. Yes Outlander fans are BEYOUND lucky we got this entire Cast and Crew I could go on and on. And please Note I’m a long time Nathan Fillion fan and a big fan of Castle as well “Always!” and have NOTHING bad to say about that show. Just Love Outlander!
So if you have access to it give it a chance.

  155. They sold more than 20 million copies of the first 7 books worldwide over the last 23 years, the eighth already on top of the bestseller lists. I don't know about GoT.

    ReplyDelete
  156. wish I could vote more often..as much as I LOVE Castle..Outlander has my heart and vote. been a fan of the series for years and want Starz to keep making it!

    ReplyDelete
  157. Castle fans eating some humble pie.

    ReplyDelete
  158. After this, i have to check outlander. I hope it is as good as this pool results are saying. And its good to see a new show winning

    ReplyDelete
  159. I saw the first episode found it kinda boring, maybe it just wasn't my thing.

    ReplyDelete
  160. I don't believe it...is there actually a chance that one fairly unknown, new show which airs on one of the minor challenge has actually the chance to kick long time fan favourite but way past its time hit Castle?

    ReplyDelete
  161. The first episode is a lot of set up...it gets better when the story actually gets going (plus, knowing the book...there is still a lot of great stuff to come).

    ReplyDelete
  162. Outlander. I am simply in love right now. :-) It doesn't help that the Castle finale angered me...and the first ep back wasn't enough to get me to trust the writers again. So. Really easy choice.

    ReplyDelete
  163. In a nutshell ;)

    ReplyDelete
  164. Outlander is based on a very successful book series. It's not THAT unknown...but I am very pleased that for once one of the Cable shows made a splash, especially after Vikings was unfairly knocked out in the very first round.

    ReplyDelete
  165. GoT is mostly known with Fantasy fans, the Outlander books are bestsellers, with way more regular additions to the series than GoT gets. And they didn't change the title. I read outlander and immediately thought "wait a minute, are they making a series out of the books"? I read GoT and thought "the phrase does sound familiar...." but I needed some time to figure out the connection.

  166. I know part of the goal of these contests is to bring new people to the site but there are times when I do wish that these contests had a minimum post or minimum site visit count requirement. Having tons of fans who come in *just* to vote for one show throws the balance off and leaves me feeling a little discouraged.

    ReplyDelete
  167. New TV show based on a series of bestsellers which, to a lot of people surprise (it's Starz after all), actually managed a more than decent adaptation.

    ReplyDelete
  168. It's one of the *few* shows where getting the leads together wasn't a problem for me. For me Castle was always designed as, essentially, a romcom in regard to that relationship. They were playing with the attraction from day one and Castle was never officially a cop. So for Castle the more annoying point for me was the refusal to get them together for the various reasons mentioned. Lazy writing is what's threatening to push me out of Castle.

But, I do agree that falling prey to 'shipping' is an annoying cliche.

    ReplyDelete
  169. I stopped liking Castle when it stopped being a meta about writing. Which was during the second season. so there is that....
There are a lot of aspects in the book which are difficult to adapt. The first one is entirely written from Claire's perspective and consists to a great part just out of her thoughts. There are some elements (like the wedding) which can be very unfortunate if done wrong.
I didn't expect to get a show which manages to be tasteful about those elements. I didn't expect them to turn this into a working TV show. I certainly didn't expect them to do such a spot-on casting for the two main characters, if for no other reason than I expected them just to overlook that Claire is the older one in the relationship, while Jamie is barely out of his teenage years.

    ReplyDelete
  170. True, but that can be said of both shows which should balance things out. And, by the time the next comp comes around, hopefully the majority of new visitors due to this competition will still be here.

    ReplyDelete
  171. I can't vote. I love them both!

    ReplyDelete
  172. It can easily happen. Just because a lot of people rave about something it doesn't mean you need to join in. I can't enjoy any sitcoms, but it doesn't mean that there are no outstanding ones.

    ReplyDelete
  173. I like both Castle and Outlander, but Outlander is my favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Outlander has done it. Congratulations fans!
