  1. The Doctor's speech about he is the protector as he banished the aliens was just brilliant, Capaldi has never been better imo! I also love how much the arc has moved on with him noticing how Clara is changing. Her addiction and eagerness to be good at what he does instead of the 'carer' he called her at the start of the season has been so very gradually done it's almost been unnoticeable. It's almost like the two of them have swapped places by the end of this episode, Clara really didn't get what he meant when he said there is no goodness in what happened, i.e. people died, terribly and in pain, and it's almost like she doesn't even seem to notice any more.

Bravo Moffat, this is turning out to be a season to remember imo :)

  2. Based on the previews for the next episode I think the Doctor will plan an intervention for Clara by inviting Danny to travel with them. Clara seems to be losing some of her "humanity" while the Doctor seems to be gaining more of it.
Also I really want to know why Clara was chosen by Missy. Did Missy think Clara could be the way to turn the Doctor to the dark side.
As a companion I think Clara's selflessness and caring nature seem to be her defining qualities. Aside from her obvious intelligence of course. She was always very empathic and in my opinion she was the most empathetic companion in a while. Now its not like she is cold or unfeeling but she seems to be compartmentalizing her emotions to be able to deal with the adventures whereas before she felt everything strongly. She is more rational instead of emotional and is in someway becoming the perfect seemingly uncaring soldier.
Based on the spoilers for the finale and Danny's conversion into a cyberman it seems that will be the way of reaching Clara emotionally.
I really hope this season is not the end for Jenna Coleman's portrayal of Clara. Now more than ever it feels like she is becoming a really complex character and a real pleasure to watch. At first I thought her appearance in season 7 was just going to be used as a way of introducing the character while not really developing her but now I see the bigger picture of it all. At first she seemed like the happy go lucky pixie girl and now we can see her for the strong woman that she always was. I have always liked the character and every time we peel more of her layers I like her even more. It has been a slow development but one that is really well done.

  3. I'm not sure if Danny being there is planned, from what's written in this months DWM it looks like the school have an over night stay in a museum and when they wake up the planet is covered in plants. The they get involved in the plot with the Doctor somehow after that, but it's not clear how. I wonder if this will be the episode that Missy 'collects' her next soldier though, and Danny dies which will be the cliffhanger that will take us into the finale?

Personally, I'm still not entirely convinced that Missy will be a conventionally baddie. This season has been exploring the misunderstood enemy too many times now for it to be ignored perhaps? But I admit I have no real clue what she could be if that is correct, lol. I have changed my mind about her so many times, from cyber leader, to Valeyard/alter ego, Master and many more.

One thing that I can't help noticing about the finally is the line "Death is not the end thanks to the organisation called 3W". Which at the moment has me thinking that she could possible be to a time lady who has had her regenerations taken off her in order for the Doctor to have his second chance. The 3W turned upside-down looks like ME, and she has made references to keeping 12's accent for example. Lol, I dunno, this theory will probably change again by next week XD

Agree with you about Jenna, I really don't want her to leave any time soon. They have obviously been playing the long game with her character and I am loving how it's playing out at present. She's a remarkable young actress imo. I would like to see her over come this 'addiction' and carry on her travels for now, she and Capaldi make a superb team.

  4. My absolute favourite scene was The Doctor admiting that Clara made an exceptional Doctor but there were nothing "good" about it. And Clara who didn't seem to fully understand what he meant.

I also mention (among others) :
    - The adorable tiny TARDIS and the Doctor passing stuff at Clara. The face she made when she took the hammer out of her bag. And the Doctor usinf his hand to put the TARDIS into safety.
Also the first thing I thought when I saw the Doctor hand out of the Tardis ("Please don't do that, that's just wrong") in the sneak was The Addams familly Thing. So when Clara mention it in the tunnels to the Doctor I was very happy.
    - Clara making fun of the Doctor by impersonating him.
    - And of course, of course the Doctor speech.

  5. "I upped the amount of scenes to pick" And I thank you for that, It would have been mental torture otherwise. xD

The doctor finally realise what Clara have and could become. This episode really provide strong character development (which follow what gradually happen this season) with Clara closing off / compartmentalizing a little bit more and the Doctor finally noticing it. And, yes the smart utilisation of Fenton as the vile and horrible man that he is, first of all, all trough the episode and then in his unique altercation with the Doctor at the end really humanize even more Eleven. An humanity all more noticeable when The Doctor says that "goodness has nothing to do with being the the doctor". And with that leaves a confuse Clara and enter the Tardis.

The Doctor understand that he might be more harmful han he realised.

This scene (as the episode itself) is really powerful, even more powerful than the Doctor speech for me.

  6. I know a lot of people didn't like Fenton, but he had a terribly important role in the story over all. Without him showing both the audience and the Doctor that he didn't care for the victims dying we wouldn't have realised that no-one was caring about them any more. That should have been Clara's job, and I loved that twist of doing it backwards...plus Chris Fairbank is an awesome actor! lol. All three of them, Fenton, Clara and Twelve, made this message come across very strongly in that last scene. The slow arc that has been building for the last few episodes suddenly came into focus very quickly indeed :)

  7. Even thought he is a dispicable person, or rather being since we've crossed path with aliens more human than him, and if you don't want to punch him in the face at the end of the episode or even before the end, there's definitely something wrong with you, but he is not less important.

And you're right, I didn't mention it earlier but his role regarding Clara is no less important than towards the Doctor. Without Fenton, Clara change woudn't have been so noticeable, so drastic to our eyes.
Clara bluntly ignore the victims, which she wouldn't have few episodes ago. She wasn't the one who cared, Rigsy was. She became the one who doesn't have to.

You can possibly like Fenton, yet he is very important. I don't think I could like the man even if I tried. Which is a good change when today we are supposed to love despicable characters because they've done one good thing. It doesn't take away all the truly terrible things he's done. So the writers made up a sad and terrible past and blah. But it doesn't make them less despicable. They choose their paths.
But I'm disgressing, it's no Doctor Who matter. The point is Fenton is a terrible person but an excellent character.

  8. Yes, agree completely. Awful, awful person, but totally necessary and genus use of character, brilliantly played by the actor as I really did wish harm to him and I love him as old Moxey from Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, lol.
