  1. The Doctor and Clara, protectors of the Earth ! Loved the idea of the episode !
Wasn't expecting the ending with Missy... she is so intriguing !

  2. Thought it was brilliant, but I always do love the companion heavy episodes. And although this was no "Turn Left" this will definitely go up there as one of my favourites. Was surprised by the ending of Missy, and have been really interested in this season long arc. But I want it to come into the main storyline soon. I know it won't be too heavy in the forefront until the last episode (or two). But at this point I would've hoped The Doctor, or even Clara, would be aware or at least have come across some hint that someone is plotting against them.

  3. I've gone with Awesome, which is probably only the 6th or 7th time I have ever voted such in 6 years here. This was a brilliant episode, and it only gets better on repeat viewings too, lots of little bits to pick up on! :)

Twelve's speech to the aliens, with his theme music blaring out behind him, was fab, it puts a huge grin on my face to see Capaldi get a speech like that :D

  4. I loved that part too, I was like "Oh my God, this is it, this is Twelve's speech" :D

  5. Hmm, she's only taking people once they are dead though, so it's pretty difficult to know what's happening if you are in the world of the living I think. As far as that's concerned the arc is more about who the Doctor and Clara are, and especially Clara's obsession/lying/assumptions and how they are changing her as a person. This episode has given the Doctor a chance to see that now, but whether he relates that to the mysterious woman in the shop who gave Clara the phone number in Bells of St John or not is a bit of a jump to make yet perhaps?

  6. Gave me goosebumps every time I watched it :D

  7. I loved this episode. The old guy was annoying though. The ending really has me intrigued.

  8. Fenton, the community service leader? I love Christopher Fairbank the actor, but yeah his character was an horrible old man, lol. I think it's funny that some people have been saying that this Doctor is too nasty and doesn't care for people, well Fenton and Twelve's reaction to him showed that this isn't the case at all! lol

  9. Yep Fenton. He was really horrible but it also shows you that horrible ppl tend to survive

  10. This season is all kinds of awesome!!

  11. Tiny TARDIS was awesome and I really liked the speech Twelve gave. Clara was great. This was another awesome episode, this season is shaping up brilliantly. Capaldi's face in the Tiny TARDIS was so funny :)

I even checked my TARDIS at home just in case Twelve was in their, you never know :)

  12. Oh man, that end, does the Doctor mean what I think he means, that Clara was chosen!? that look he had! Shit is about to go down soon.

    - Regardless of ^that^ it was funny when Clara started impersonating the Doctor, I like her Giddy Theme music. It fits well with her smile.
    - And when the Doctor told Clara that prepare to lead the confused group, this is the time where you take over lol.

The 2D Creatures were cool, I liked their different vibe to them, and more of the world expansion that they brought along. So yea they made a good episode, and with them The Doctor go this awesome speech, I hope more like so come.

I hated that Old dude - the guy with endless disbelief, people like that piss me off so much. But thankfully he wasn't the main side dude, and Rigsy drew the attention off him.

Next episode seems interesting as Trees. I love trees, its one of the things I doodle the most of, and add to that there are little kids, they should bring out a different prospective to the world and make it funny. Look forward to it.

  13. Haha, they really do need to bring out a Lego set with a tiny TARDIS and big Doctor and Clara, I think the fans will all snap them up :)

  14. I think he's perhaps having an Amy/Ganger moment, realising that something is up, but perhaps doesn't quite have all the pieces of the puzzle to fit together yet. She's no longer the carer he descried at the start of the season, which is what he needs, not someone who thinks and acts like him because they have to and doesn't have a companion to pull them back when necessary. That's why I think Fenton was so important in this episode, without him there being so incredibly callous there wouldn't have been a mirror for him to hold up to Clara and himself.

Boyce's episode next week is the one I've been looking forward to a great deal, it's been described as a modern fairytale, and he's an absolute wizard at storytelling. The trailer makes it look all kinds of scary with the wolf and tiger too.

  15. It was good, but it was once again not an episode of Doctor Who, but of Clara Oswald and oh we have to put some Doctor in there.
Just get rid of her, I can"t bear her anymore

  16. "I am the Doctor" was Matt Smith's Doctor's theme. When are they going to create a cool theme for Capaldi's Doctor?

  17. His theme tune has been building throughout the season, once you know what it it is you will recognise it in every episode, it was playing during his speech last night for example. I first became certain that it was his during Time Heist when Saibra was asking about the shredder just before she used it, and it's been added to every episode since then :)

  18. What do you mean? The Doctor was in the episode and he stole the show with his speech at the end. Do you know how many scenes Amy or Amy and Rory got compared to the Doctor? I didn't see you complaining then.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh yeah, I don't mean Clara is a Ganger or a double, just that we are seeing the Doctor realising something is up, much like when he knew Amy was a Ganger instead of Amy. He's a genius after all so he can put things together, it's just this time round we have more information than he does because we know about Missy. In Ganger Amy situation he held all the cars and we didn't know until he revealed it, so we missed the cogs turning in his head as he was trying to work out what was wrong, as it were.

I am completely loving that the show is exploring Clara being addicted to the adventure and danger. It's something that I think could be an important lesson for the younger audience to see her go through, while also be interesting on a different level for the older fans too. It's certainly darker, as promised, and has been played out over a long time in a subtle way which I have really enjoyed seeing play out.

  20. what happened to the gallifrey storyline? Did they just drop it altogether? Does no one remember there is a planet of people out there frozen in time waiting to be rescued? I've been waiting for this storyline to be mentioned but nothing…

  21. Agreed, the speech of Twelve was really great. But I just can't bear Clara anymore, she just doesn't work on me, but she seems to try and steal the episode from the doctor every effing week since the season premiere, and that's just enough. At least to me.
And yes, I didn't complain back then because I wasn't commenting back then. But it was the exact same thing with Amy and Rory&Amy, even if I quite liked them. Get me a Donna, and I'll be fine.
My first post didn't really show it but I quite liked this episode (one of the first of the season I really enjoyed watching), but I just can't bear with Clara anymore, she grew up as a character since the season 7, but she went from a character with few to no interest, to a character really not likable, always trying to be the smartass around the Doctor when she cannot even read the cover of a book. She needs to be put back to her place, that's all I mean. Even if she was pretty brilliant this week.

  22. Hmm, there hasn't been a storyline for this at all has there; no-one is looking, or has asked, to be saved as far as I am aware?

  23. Where has the time go ladies and gentleman we now have only 3 episodes left :(.

  24. Cybermen return in episode 11 part 1 of the 2 part event. Sadly they will be aired separate nights instead of a 1 hr season finale.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yeah, but I think they were wise to use the double at the start of the season as it was Capaldi's first episode, and he was such a different kind of Doctor that many of the newer fans probably needed that in order to realise that he was going to work. So all in all I don't mind that too much really. Plus Moffat says he's written a good mini cliffhanger to keep us talking for that week, and I do love to speculate :)

  26. I will be listening for it. Thanks!

  27. Clara needs to be put back in her place? I don't understand what you mean but that. Clara acts like a rational human being. She gets angry when she's left to die, gets upset when she has to lie to be people about being able to save them, and gets sad when a man she's traveled with for a while changes. Granted, some of what she says and does is a bit annoying but nothing that calls for her being hated. I actually find her similar to Donna. She's not shy to speak her mind or tell the Doctor whatever she's feeling about the situation. Plus I think that Clara has so much scene time because 1) she didn't really have any in season 7 and 2) she's leaving very soon. This way we have a view on her character and why she decides to leave in the end.

  28. I have a feeling that the new companion is going to be a child or teenager of some sort.

  29. All the previous episodes had us believe that Clara would walk away form the Doctor but after this past episode I believe that the Doctor will let go of her. He has too much of a (in his opinion, it appears) negative impact on her.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think that he will work out what is going on rather than just walk away from her. I don't think it would be a very satisfying conclusion to the arc if they had built it up like this and then just had him dump her and her baggage without sorting it out.

  31. I hope it's not the gal from the Kill The Moon ep. She was somewhat bearable in that, but otherwise, annoying. From the looks of it, most of the kids in next week's ep are gonna be annoying. But I work in retail, so most kids are annoying to me.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yeah, I'm with you. I think he's going to be the one to tell her that she has to stop traveling with him. She's turned callous and into a liar. I think the lying to Danny and to him is what's really upset him, more than anything else. She wasn't a liar when he first met her. Definitely not when he was still in his 11th persona. Clara's learned too well what it is to be the Doctor. He's needs a human with him, not someone who is on the same wavelength as he.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I agree. He is beginning to see himself in her and that scares him. I think this is a great way to end their journey together. It will show growth in the Time Lord who is over 2,000 years old.

Clara was more willing to let it slide with 11. His personality made his actions seem more justifiable. Whereas 11 suffered in silence, 12 accepts that tough decisions must be made and takes it upon himself to make them, so others (like Clara) do not have to. She sees that now and has taken on his burden to make those calls. Which, I believe, will end their doctor/companion time together.

  34. That was one of my absolute favorites of this season. I have been having a tough time liking this doctor and I was totally on board this ep. I have grown rather bored with Missy. Give us some more info on her....now please!
