I'm surprised they're giving it to her so early. But since they've already started molding her face, it looks like she'll don the mask (and perhaps the full costume) by the end of the season.

I was expecting her to take up the costume next season.

  3. Now that Sara's gone they want it to happen ASAP. Why else would they have included a scene in Streets of Fire with her using the bow BEFORE she did ANY training and with Sara still alive?

  4. If she wears it at any point of season 3, I will be horribly disappointed in the writers...... unless they are doing a time jump of a yr or 2 at some point this season.

I don't think she wear a mask at least until end of the season........she still need training and all still

no time jump since 1 year per season..........and sorry but she going to BC sometime this season with or without training. This behind of the scene does not really indicate that she wear a mask this season.

it hard to say if we really see the mask and her costumn this season but she does have some self defense training in the past and knowing how to use a gun........I say they will take it slowly with Wildcat to guide her. I mean if a solider go to better after a couple of weeks then what is different from Laurel?

  8. Okay, this picture is creepy as all hell.

  9. Well this was bound to happen now that they killed off Sara but I expected it to happen by the end of next season. They did rush Roy getting a mask why should Laurel be any different. In a way its better this way. I am not interested in Laurel and her melodramatic struggles. There is no need to devote too much time on her evolution to BC. This an Arrow show not a BC show. Once she becomes BC she will be part of taking down criminals and her story will be about crime fighting and not about personal melodrama. I will take it as long as she is like Digg and Roy supporting Oliver and not taking too much screen space.

It's funny Spoiler tv is ready to post this instagram photo which in no way confirms she gets a mask in writing but refuses to post an interview of Brandon Routh who confirms he saw the initial draft of his costume.

  10. I figured she'd become BC some point this season. Doesn't mean she'll be the best fighter right off the bat, but she needs a costume when she decides to go fight crime. She's going to be training with Ted Grant this season, so I expect to see her skills improving and she can always meet Lady Shiva and train with her as well at some point.

  11. Are they sure that isn't her in off-season getting another 'procedure'?

Have you submitted the Brandon Routh interview? I haven't seen it show up in our system.

  13. Katie cassidy is way better as a badass (supernatural) than a jilted lover seriously people her story arcs where the worst I don't. See any actress pulling it off drug addiction, jilted lover in a triangle with siblings blech!
Anyway waiting for the new BC always know caity wouldn't star forever so all the best
That moulding bit is crazy I don't think I would be comfortable with whatever that is ugh.

  14. Yes. I did. Bradley replied to me saying you needed more definite news.

  15. At the time we felt it unnecessary to post.

  16. Arrow have never used a full facial mask so far, why take one when all she needs is to cover her eyes. I think this could be for one of the new Vertigo hallucinations too.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Does a simple domino mask really require a full head and facial cast? Or is it for some other practical effect or prosthetic makeup This should be in preparation for episode 309.

    ReplyDelete
  18. It would be amazing if the actual mask covers her face like that! I don't like to go around hating on characters and I really REALLY tried to like her and be remotely interested in her storyline this season but I can't (although my heart broke for her when Sara died in that gruesome way right in front of her no one should go through something like that), it's just not happening so I'm going to do what I did last season I'm going to fast forward her scenes unless she has a scene with one of the main cast members.

  19. I'm going with Laurel wearing the mask/costume come the mid-season finale !!!

It will be explained that she has always had the skills but didn't believe in herself since Sara slept with boyfriend but now that Sara is dead she's final ready to take her place along side Ollie and fight to avenge her sisters death.

  20. Or it could be for vfx reasons. Grant gustin said they took measurements and moulds of his whole body for special effects. He said they can create a whole scene without him even being there. So maybe that's it.

  21. I can't really see this being for her Black Canary mask, they've only just added Roy to the team and I think even the writers would know it's too soon to add Laurel. My guess is that she'll develop into Black Canary over the latter end of this season and join the team in the finale or next season.

I could be wrong but her becoming Black Canary so soon after Sara's death would feel a little forced and artificial.

    ReplyDelete
  22. After that premiere episode, it would make sense for her to wear a mask, but is still too soon for her character. And Team Arrow just accepted Roy; I would be pissed if Laurel joins them now. It feels strange.
Also, am I the only one who thought about the Darach from TW?

    ReplyDelete
  23. i dont know why but i m gonna have a hard time liking laurel mimicing sarah

    ReplyDelete
  24. i doubt this is her official black canary costume because that maybe a bit too soon but i think it will be the costume she takes when she starts street fighting or whatever but overtime it will change. a bit like in spiderman with his first costume he took to the streets was basic but over time he produced a new and better one (thats a pretty bad example but still)

    ReplyDelete
  25. That's what I thought Why cast ones whole head if the mask is only covering ones eyes. Also, why are there no eye holes? If it is a face mask, how is she to see through it if there is no eye holes?

    ReplyDelete
  26. It's not the mask just yet. They are clearly making a cast of her head and face to eventually build something onto. If it's the domino mask they probably make those with liquid latex that you can't apply directly to skin. Hence the cast

    ReplyDelete
  27. For Grant that makes total sense with all the cgi'd Flash/running scenes

Well, she might just be using Sara's mask... But in the world of reality, Lotz's mask wouldn't fit Cassidy so they're making a copy of Sara's mask that fits Cassidy.

It would be cool(at least what i want) that she goes out and gets her ass kicked a few times so that way we actually see her becoming better and also the impact of her change of life.

She already has had physical training(Remember the premiere?) and she is ready to punch anyone without fear as seen multiple times...

One thing they did really bad last season(the only one, i guess) was not showing Roy's advancement... They can do it with Laurel, but she MUST get her ass kicked a couple of time so that wich each training lesson and episode we, the viewer, see the impact of that: from getting beaten to she being a badass.

So i'm guessing since episode 3, she will be hitting the streets with Sara's costume...

We all know how TV works, so we already know that things like Laurel becoming Black Canary or Oliver making peace with both sides of himself and starting a relationship with Felicity or Roy and Thea getting together again will drag all the way until the Season 3 Finale(I'm talking about character's arcs, not plot ones like "who killed Sara?" or "Ra's al Ghoul".)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hmm, interesting.

We have no idea when she will debut with her mask - it could be late into this season and this whole thing is just the technical guys getting ready beforehand. Or it could be early - maybe mid season finale. Either way, I am excited to see her development.

Also laughing at some of the comments suggesting/complaining that it's too soon. The Arrow fandom - has always been letting the world know what they want/what they don't want and now the 'when' too. :P ;) :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Okay. I know sometimes comments here can go extreme and then needs to be called on for it. But if you can't share your opinions about the way the show is shaping up or the way a story line is tackled in the show then what is the point of these television boards and forums. These forums are not for demanding the EPs. They do not take what we say here into account. This is not their twitter or facebook account. Its a place for discussion and people are saying when they would like to see Laurel in a mask. What is wrong with that?

    ReplyDelete
  31. They still have to make the mask. Katie's face is different from Caity's so they need one for her. I think she'll be wearing it at or near the end of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  32. In the Comic Books Real Black Canary is Dinah Laurel Lance. Caity Lotz was great as Black Canary/Sara and i love her but as we know this is a comic book show, we should expect that they will get closer and closer to comic book origins year by year. (and we know Arrow is not Green Arrow yet! ) so please be patient and see what will happen through this season. it was just one episode, there are still 22 episodes. and this show got better after every death. Tommy's Death, Moira's Death made the show better because made more stories and definitely after Sara's Death every thing will change.

  33. What I wanna know is if she'll get the Canary cry. I thought maybe she'd be effected by the power causing blast from the Flash somehow.

    ReplyDelete
  34. maybe because you think of Laurel as a mimicking Sarah, and not Laurel as a BC on its own.

    ReplyDelete
  35. i think i gotta wait and see

    ReplyDelete
  36. Girl BYE! You were never gonna give her a chance anyway. This just proves it.

Keep hating. BC here we come

    ReplyDelete
  37. isnt it too soon?. Im excited for this but how long will it pass for her to train and become what she is suppose to be?

    ReplyDelete
  38. They had groomed Laurel early on to be BC, I don't know why people say its to soon. Thanks for the clip.

    ReplyDelete
  39. She needs the training. That's how it was done in the comics starting with her being trained by Ted Grant. I think this season what you will see is Laurel being not so much Black Canary but the Dinah of the comics who didn't pretend to be mild mannered when she was Dinah and tough when she was Canary. In the comics she beats the crap out of guys when she's not even in costume. Even Oliver doesn't do that because he thinks he either has to be Arrow or Oliver. I think Sara was kind of like that too. Laurel won't stop being Laurel when she is in disguise. That doesn't mean she'll be giving herself away. They know that Laurel has some training any ways so why should she pretend to be like other comic book characters and be the nerdy stereotype? They need a hero who doesn't fit that mold. Someone who won't have identity issues when she becomes a masked vigilante and can fight the bad guys without psychological distraction.

    ReplyDelete
  40. That's just to hold the plaster in place. Not intended to be the size of the mask itself.

    ReplyDelete
  41. That's what I did last season with Sara's nonaction scenes and with Olicity's romantic scenes in the season premiere. It's the best thing to do, no need to complain and you get to enjoy the show. I wish everyone would do that instead of hating so much... his has become such nasty fandom...

    ReplyDelete
  42. Judging by the pictures from episode 3... She does get her ass kicked, which probably leads to her asking Ted for training.

    ReplyDelete
  43. She does have a mother in Central City she could visit and get exposed to stuff...

    ReplyDelete
  44. agreed, let's just give this girl a chance...

    ReplyDelete
  45. No she's not. she wasn't in central city at that moment.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I am glad that she is game to go through the prosthetic process and as to her being the Black Canary, in the beginning she just has to be better than the people she is fighting. I see the BC as a long term thing. Yes it might take her 1 1/2 seasons to be any where near Caity Lotz's 'Canary' character. I think it would be nice to see the gradual progress of a female vigilante.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Didn't know that her mom lives there. You're probably right, if she does get her Cry that may be where she gets it.

    ReplyDelete
  48. They haven't quite determined the "rules" for Central City yet. We don't know if exposure to those particles is only at the moment of the explosion or if there are still pockets of weird stuff floating around there.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I was waiting for her to let out a type of loud Canary style screech/cry when she had Sara in her arm in the season premiere.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I agree, you don't have to watch any scenes of a character you don't like unless it's a scene that is important to the main plot of the episode.

    ReplyDelete
  51. It really brings out her eyes :p

    ReplyDelete
  52. Because they believe in some retcon myth like half of season one never happened.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think she's already on the team whether she's Black Canary or not. In the last episode she even got a text from The Arrow to have her question some people. She's part of the team in that sense.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Just like Bruce Wayne on Gotham after his parents' death?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Not a fan of this storyline. Laurel is about as threatening as an insect to even the lowest of criminals, let alone to a group of assassin's. I buy Thea being able to kick some amount of ass this season due to her 5 months of nothing but training with good old Malcolm. If she doesn't go through a season of preparation and there's no time jump then it will be really, really hard to buy her as anything other than a joke in a costume.

Having said that, I have faith that the writers of this show will do it the right way. I think at this point they've earned at least that.
