Hey all,
Day five saw British favourite Doctor Who narrowly edge out seeded show Dominion. We also had cult classic The X Files smash Teen Wolf.
Today features our number 1 seed in the finished shows - a show commonly referred to as the greatest of all time - Breaking Bad. That faces Firefly in our first poll of the day. We then see Sons of Anarchy - currently in its final season - take on another British favourite: Sherlock.

Breaking Bad. Greatest show I've ever watched.

ReplyDeleteI could never get into Breaking Bad. Acting was pretty good, but the episodes and plots seemed boring and very repetitive. I just never saw the huge appeal with it. Sherlock I have only seen a few episodes of, much like SOA, but I like what I have seen of Sherlock more.

ReplyDeleteBreaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy for me today. I like Sherlock and love BC but the first 2 seasons of SOA are some of my favorite television. This might shock y'all but I have never seen an episode of Firefly. My streak continues.

ReplyDeleteOnly Firefly today. Breaking Bad may be critically acclaimed, but it is too dark for my tastes. I've never watched Sons of Anarchy or Sherlock.

ReplyDeleteI am gutted that i have to choose between Breaking Bad and Firefly but there is no other show in the competition that would make me vote against Breaking Bad. SoA vs Sherlock is another difficult choice for me but SoA has declined in quality for a few seasons now, while i loved every episode of Sherlock.

ReplyDeleteTV is about being entertained, right? Maybe? Breaking Bad showed a level of quality, originality, and an ability to surprise that is rare in the constant stream of unlikable anti-hero shows studios are pumping out. But Firefly was a delight. Every character was great in unique and complementary ways. Even though I can say that Breaking Bad has what critics love and I usually can't stand. Firefly was pure heart. I miss the good guys in TV shows, so I vote for Firefly.

ReplyDeleteSherlock :-) I've never got around to watching Breaking Bad. On the one hand, everybody seems to love it; on the other, it doesn't seem like something I would like... Then again, I thought there's no way I would enjoy Hannibal either, so who knows.
ReplyDeleteYay I finally get to vote again! Only Firefly for me today. I didn't actually find this show until a year or so ago and I feel cheated that it wasn't a true love 10+ years ago but it is now and that's all that matters.

ReplyDeleteWell that was easy...never seen Breaking Bad and only a few episodes of SoA while Firefly was one of my nominations and Sherlock is a must watch for me. Both BB and SoA are in my Netflix que, maybe over Christmas break I'll get to one of them?

ReplyDeleteBreaking Bad is such a great show, but my heart had to go with Firefly, sorry. And Sherlock was a no brainer since I've never watched Sons of Anarchy.
ReplyDeleteWow, I went from liking all the shows and having to make tough choices to have nothing to vote for. I dislike 2 of these and haven't watched the others. Best luck to all fandoms here. Sadly tomorrow I go back to having a poll where I like both shows. Such is the way the draw goes.

ReplyDeleteFirst off breaking bad. Although I'm sure I'll like firefly if I ever get to watch it, I just finished season one of breaking bad last night and I have to say, it is pretty good. Can't wait for season two
Second is Sherlock. I also just recently watched all three seasons (3 times) and absolutely love it.

ReplyDeleteNice statement. I haven't watched any of today's shows being voted on except Sherlock (even Firefly because it was on before I really got into TV) but the important part is remembering TV is about being entertained.
ReplyDeleteIt's not about the awards, the critics, or the stars. It's about what entertains you. When I watch a show I watch because I like it, not because others do.

ReplyDeleteNever watched Firefly but it doesn't matter since BB is a freaken masterpiece and would win with me no matter which show it's up against. SoA is on my to-watch-list, didn't get around to it yet. Love Sherlock, impatiently waiting for S4.
ReplyDeleteJust Breaking Bad as it's the only show of the four I'm watching (in fact, binge-watching it right now). However, I'm currently at episode 2.04 but I do think the show is a little slow. It just doesn't have that Lost vibe (which I binge-watched before BB) of me wanting to see episode after episode.
ReplyDeleteI was also binge-watching the whole thing only this year, and it took me a while to get what the fuss was all about as well. About a season and half I'd say. After that I just couldn't stop, barely got any anything done RL-wise. My personal favorite is S4 who's finale is one of the best things I've seen, TV or cinema. This show is pure brilliance from the script to the acting to the direction of it all.

ReplyDeleteAwww, first pairing really breaks my heat. Firefly was great but its run too short and overall Breaking bad was a masterpiece over the 5 seasons.

Sorry for Sons of Anarchy but Sherlock all the way!! Oh and Breaking Bad had my vote as well, never watched Firefly!

ReplyDeleteI've tried Breaking Bad numerous times and i still haven't given up on it but I went with Firefly. They all had there own agenda but they were family,they had heart....Also went with Sherlock.

ReplyDeleteI think its a bit too dark for me. I don't mind dark shows that are supernatural but when they are 'real life' I don't enjoy it.
