The L.A. Crime - True Crime Drama In Development at ABC

ABC is going back in time in search for its next crime drama franchise. The network has put in development The L.A. Crime, a character-driven, “true-crime” procedural that explores sex, politics and popular culture across various noteworthy eras in L.A. history.

In Season 1, two LA cops track a “Bonnie & Clyde” serial killer team amidst the rock-and-roll, coke-infused revelry of the 1980s Sunset Strip. LA’s famous Sunset Strip in the 80s has been used a backdrop to movies and series projects, including the feature Rock Of Ages and the CW’s proposed Gossip Girls spinoff, which didn’t go beyond the pilot stage.

L.A. Crime was being written by Steven Baigelman (Feeling Minnesota). It hails from ABC Studios and studio-based Mandeville, with Baigelman executive producing alongside Mandeville’s David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman and Laurie Zaks (Castle). Baigelman is repped by UTA and Ziffre.

  1. Drop the "The" from the title and I think it'll improve its prospects. Apart from that, period dramas very rarely interest me.
