  3. Okay... I've been interested in this show ever since promos started coming out, but this is the first time I've found a Gotham promo downright stunning. This makes the city look dark, twisted, freaky and absolutely compelling. The visuals continue to impress, too: it could easily have been a movie trailer. And it truly feels like a noir-ish comic book universe.

Even more excited for the rest of the season now. This show has the potential to be gold.

  5. Cool. And sorry, i'm the minority here, I don't like Jada's character. She feels very out of place, and I found her annoying in the pilot. Hope that changes while i watch (try to enjoy) this show. B/c i do love Jada, and this is the first time i've never liked a character she played. Again i've been waiting for this series since i heard of it. Was disappointed the pilot didn't blow me away. Hope that changes tonight.

  6. Wow i never thought that i would see that kind of corruption in Gotham. A man walks in threatens a police officer pulls out a gun and everybody is staying and watching and only Gordon is actually pulling a gun. WOW.

Looks great but I hope they don't do too much too soon. This show needs to take its time because although it's set in the Batman universe: its not a Batman show. Yet.

The obvious payoff that people will want is the introduction of Batman himself. That does need to happen but for it to be realistic then young Bruce Wayne will eventually (sooner rather than later) need to disappear completely to travel the world and train and master the various skills he will eventually have when he returns.

The producers need to let that happen organically without falling victim to what CW did with "Smallville" by introducing often ridiculous plots, character traits or situations that pandered to the audience wanting to see Superman but not being able to reveal him. The utterly ludicrous "Red Blue Blur" comes to mind in both it's concept and the name.

Gotham needs to keep it simple and stay the course. The audience doesn't need to see super villains or too many fully developed Batman bad guys too soon. They only need to see a corrupt city. And it doesn't need to be too bad from the outset: the viewer needs to see it deteriorate. By the time Batman shows up the city needs to be in really bad shape.

  9. you do realize that Bruce is only 10-12 yrs old now and the Batman we know is 30-32 yrs old... the writers have to make up at least 20 yrs...☺...

story man, you can fast forward it

No. That's incorrect. Bruce Wayne is 25 years old when he returns to Gotham City after his trip around the world to study and train. The Batman you know and are thinking about has already been patrolling the rooftops of Gotham for a few years which is why you think he's in his thirties.

Should this show prove successful enough to last 10 seasons (which is possible) then the viewer might be able to watch the characters grow literally in real time. If not the producers and writers will likely use the time jump/fast forward method to advance the plot as needed.

My point however is not that we need to see Batman soon. The opposite actually. I have no doubt that we will: on the last episode of the last season. My point is that there will be growing pressure to reach that point in order for the viewer to get the payoff. I'm saying that I hope the writers and producers are good enough to tell compelling stories without falling victim to the pandering that the Smallville writers had to resort to in order to give the very impatient CW viewer bits and pieces of Superman earlier than when they should have. And result was a weak payoff at the end fueled in small part by the fact that their series star didn't want to wear the suit.

I hope Gotham will be different and by early indications; I'm optimistic it will be.

  13. haha I am relaxed. I have a theory that she'll bit it sometime this season. But tonight she was a little more tolerable. Still don't care for her. And i do hope he does.

  16. Sadly, looks like Selina won't be playing a big role this season. My only problem with this show is that there seem to be too many characters.

  17. I might be mistaken... But wasn't supposed to be a version of Azrael that was prior Batman? I mean, it's one of the characters that i never paid that much of atention, but i believe there was one.

Can someone tell me? Like i said, i'm not sure about this... But if i am right, they could do a "version" of Azrael(they would need to change quite a lot to make it grounded on their universe, but it could work).

Also, he isn't a well known character... So they will have a lot of creative license.
