  1. Lydia will probably find out that becoming a banshee is hereditary. Something else occurred to me. Derek's name being the third cypher key because he's someone who will die could mean one of two things: a) the benefactor only plans to kill Derek, and Lydia might stop feeling that Derek will die as soon as the threat is removed; or b) the benefactor has a banshee working for him/her or IS a banshee. If I'm right and it's the second one, I think Jordan Parrish might be the benefactor. He didn't seem too surprised that his name was in the dead pool, and he's expressed too much interest in Lydia's abilities. He's hiding something. A Sheriff's deputy would be able to compile a list of every supernatural in town or the county, and if Deputy Parrish is a banshee, he could have become a cop as one attempt to stop some of the death that he keeps "feeling." Since being a cop will only get you so far when a lot of death is caused by supernaturals that the Sheriff knows about and supports, I can see a desperate banshee finding a way to clean up the town/county. A fellow banshee who is tired of death also would have been able to convince Meredith to stop helping Lydia. I wouldn't be surprised if, at the last minute, it comes out that either Lydia or Stiles figured out who the culprit was and came up with a plan with Scott to thwart the benefactor's power in order to stop him.

I thought of the possibility that Peter might be the benefactor, but he wouldn't benefit from eliminating all werewolves and other supernaturals. I think the fact that Malia isn't on the list is just a red herring that the writers threw in. While Peter is a really nasty character, story-wise he's sort of essential because a good show always has that one person who will cross moral lines whenever necessary. That's not to say that Peter won't get killed off eventually. He's a little bit multi-faceted. I don't exactly know the show inside out, but it seems like Peter cares enough about Derek to save Derek's life in a way that would put Peter himself in danger. One thing I've noticed about Peter is that he doesn't think about the consequences of his actions because he's usually sure there won't be any.

  2. But Malia IS on the list...? She's listed as Malia Hale which was the reason why she got so angry at Stiles at the end of 407 and left.

  3. I must have missed an episode somewhere. I still think it's a red herring. I am 90% sure that the benefactor is at least connected to an undiscovered banshee.

  5. And the Mexican hunters not only knew before anyone else that Kate was alive, their leader also went to the trouble to test Lydia's abilities as a banshee. The Mexican hunters and an unknown banshee are definitely involved.
