Idara Victor ("Turn") will make her debut as Nina Holiday on "Rizzoli & Isles" on the Aug. 5 episode. Nina is crime scene analyst from Chicago who is looking for a career change and is hiding a dramatic past. Part of her story arc will revolve around a big secret and the events that lead her to leave the Windy City for Boston.
Executive producer Jan Nash tells Indiewire they hope to draw out revealing Nina's secret. "We're really letting her capabilities and really Idara's charm -- because she's an incredible charismatic actress -- develop a relationship with the audience first and then telling you [about her past]," Nash reveals.

Now that I saw her character's intro in the latest episode, I think this is good news. That bit about her "hiding a dramatic past" is pretty much the backstory for any new character on a cop show now, it seems. I though her brief appearances on the latest episode turned out well. Nina seems to be a good character already. I look forward to seeing how she integrates into the group, and to see her contribution to the show.
