  1. Maybe it was the directional style of Ben Wheatley but this season so far has looked and felt quite different from previous ones, not in a bad way in fact I rather like it and I liked the use of quick flashbacks and cuts in the episode like seeing what Danny wanted to say to Clara and what actually happened.

Talking of Danny well I fell instantly in love with the character, maybe its the tragic backstory, maybe its the tears, its probably because he seems quite awkward but still has the potential for fun. I understand now why Clara is going to try and keep her two lives separate considering the Doctor's views on soldiers.

I liked how the Doctor really thought he could change the Daleks but it failed because of his own inner hatred for his old foes. He looked so defeated.

And the weirdness with Missy continues, sure we won't find out the truth until the end of the season.

  2. I too have fallen in love with Danny's character pretty quickly, I really liked the way he was introduced and can't wait to see what the show has in store for him. I'm sure it won't be an easy ride!

It wouldn't be a Moffat series without a mysterious woman at the heart of it would it, and it seems as though Missy will be S8's one, lol. I was struck by 12's complicated blackboard scribbles in the TARDIS when he picked Clara up, and his comments about her not being a young girl any more. I wondered if they were any kind of clue to go with Strax's Miss C from last week, or are we just witnessing more of Mr Moffat's red herrings!?

  3. I just wanted to give Danny a hug which means I am instantly invested in the character, which could be a bad thing if tragedy strikes!

Could be Moffat red herrings its hard to tell, maybe 12 thinks Clara isn't young anymore because well he is so old (not just in looks but how long he spent in Trenzalore). I don't know anymore, I'm trying not to get carried away with theories this season but its hard not to!

  4. Well, that was one hell of a good episode ! Capaldi made a good impression on me last week, but he just confirmed in this episode that he really is a promising Doctor. Really loved the "She's my carer, she cares so I don't have to".

Still not hooked up by Clara, but her character is getting more and more interesting, slaping the Doctor and "teaching" him how to be a good man.

A lot of struggle also about the Doctor, and how is hatred against the Daleks totally broke the way he reasoned Rusty. The end with "I'm not a good Dalek, you are a good Dalek" was really intense, and you can see this is gonna be in the head of 12 for a bit.

Lovedthe episode, way more than the s8's premiere last week, things are getting better :)

  5. I wish I could say I loved this episode, but it kind of fell flat for me. What I find ironic is the Doctor's prejudice regarding soldiers. After all, he was the ultimate soldier when he was the War Doctor. Shouldn't the Doctor in this incarnation retain the memories of what happened when all the Doctors joined together to save Gallifrey? Shouldn't the Doctor realize from that experience that a soldier is more than about taking lives, it is also about saving lives? Even if he doesn't remember saving Gallifrey, how can the Doctor not realize how complex it is to be a soldier? Especially since Gretchen sacrificed herself for not only the mission, but also the greater good. The greater good being a future free from the Dalek threat. It looks like Clara's two worlds are about to collide. Those two worlds being the Doctor and Danny. I have a feeling Danny is about to bring some much needed enlightenment into the Doctor's life. On a more shallow note, what kind of a last name is Pink? It just doesn't seem to fit this character at all.

  6. I still don't like Peter Capaldi's portrayal of the doctor. It looks like they are setting up Danny Pink to be the Happy Ending that makes Clara leave the show in December. As for Missy ... that woman wears so much make up that she looks cartoonish and villainous.

  7. Still not sure about the stuff with Missy - I think it will likely drag on for a while.

I really thought the mechanical part of Dalek was not actually part of it (from what I remember of the Dalak back-story in the Classic Who) but like a suit of armor that housed the Dalek so the fact that it's brain was not where I expected was a bit surprising (because I rmemeber the Daleks being blobs that were pretty much a brain and tentacles with an eye so they needed the metal cases to travel and so forth).

  8. Deep! This episode was Deep! The Doctor is good Dalek!

The new character Danny Pink, is a pretty likable guy, but next time I do wish there a tad bit less scenes on Earth when the Doctor is not even there. But yea His Scenes were funny, loved it when he got caught rethinking his responses to Clara by Clara.

Missy Snapped up another character who died while with The Doctor, Is that what she is doing, collecting all those who have fallen while with The Doctor, is it for good, to give them a second chance of life, of is it for evil, use them against The Doctor?

I think my views on her will change each time I see her and learn more, I have 2 hunches like most people now do, which will it be.

Now the wait! I am Waiting>

  9. Many a times I have seen in episodes in the past, The Doctor Mention not liking Soldiers, and Guns, it was always there.

Also Pink is an off last name, but I know Odder ones, My Neighbor is names Derek Green, My Cousin Last name is Master, Lucky bastard. And one of my friends from Highschool was named Money... oh the puns I made.

  10. Yeah the Doctor has always had a problem with soldiers, even when he first became friendly with the Brig back as the Second, or reluctantly joined UNIT himself back as the Third. I think he finds it's much easier to go in without waving guns around in order to get the job done, which was kind of proved in this episode really as soon as Ross used his weapon, lol.

  11. But he does remember saving Gallifrey, I see no reason for him losing That memory again.

  12. I agree the 11th Doctor as well the current Doctor should remember all the events that led up to him saving Gallifrey. Not only him, but also Clara. It would take some serious twists and turns of storytelling to unring that bell. Come to think of it, when will the Doctor go about trying to find his home planet?

  13. Will we see Rusty again that remains to be seen. The idea that he remains a bad Dalek and the images of the doctor hatred for them caused him to haywire for a bit causing him to kill his brothers makes me wonder if the good seed that the doctor created will it grow and turn Rusty thus creating an army of Good Daleks and having the battle between Good and Bad Daleks take place or will Rusty just continue following his evil ways and kill all humans.
