they are trying to copy the marvel cinematic universe. risky move.

  2. Wow, 2020, this is ambitious.
At least Batman v Superman won't have to compete with Captain America 3 anymore.

    There's a lot of Superhero Movies, hopefully people don't get to annoyed, I know I won't :)
Hopefully Wonder Woman is in the works.

  3. I personally don't think they're copying Marvel. Marvel Studios is doing their own thing and WB/DC is doing theirs. Are they cashing in? In my opinion yes, does it matter? No not at all.
Is it risky? Maybe, but as a Bats/DC fan id rather them trying to make more Superhero flicks then none at all.

  4. Yes I'm really looking forward to a Wonder Woman flick, we need a single female hero movie. I desperately want a Black Widow flick but that doesn't look like it's happening any time soon so hopefully well get Wonder Woman soon.
I personally won't be getting sick of comic book flicks any time soon either.

  5. Me too, I was hoping for a Black Widow Movie too, I would love to learn more about her backstory shown in movie form :)
    Superheros are awesome!

  6. Yes I love her backstory, she is my favourite female superhero.
Her backstory would make a excellent flick in my opinion.

DC/WB is not exactly the same as Marvel......while Marvel start introduce each member of the Avengers before "The Avengers" movie.........DC is kinda of doing the opposition......Superman, and then Batman/WW/Aquaman/Cyborg will all be BvS which will lead to JL. From there I guessing there will be solo WW, Batman, GL/Flash/Aquaman film which will likely follow the events of JL

  8. I know that they are making The Flash movie along side with Justice League movie, but everything else is complete mystery to me.

  9. Just looks like some weak-@$$ attempt!

  10. LOL, announcing a bunch of "Untitled" movies to be released over the next six years. Yeah, that's going to get us all excited.

  11. They're not "cashing in". They've been trying to create a shared universe for a long time starting with Nic Cage as Superman and Michael Keaton returning as Batman. And then they've tried to make a Batman vs Superman film before and finally, they tried to started a shared universe starting with their Green Lantern film. This is just another attempt, which seems to have some legs to it. Marvel Studios obviously inspired them to really start rolling, but I don't think it's "cashing in".

  12. As much as I love a lot of what Marvel's done, I'm so tired of the blatant sexism. Out of the 6 Avengers they used, 5 are male, and 4 of these males got their own movie series. With Black Widow, all we get is Marvel beating around the bush for the last four years since she first appeared in IM2: "Oh yeah, we're totally working on a BW solo movie..." -whatever. Maria Hill was barely a blip on the radar in Avengers, and with an even more crowded cast in Avengers 2, there's no way that's gonna change. They're adding Scarlet Witch this time around, sure, but since there are multiple new male characters (Quiksilver, Ultron, Vision), the gender balance isn't exactly changing for the better.

It seems, depressingly enough, that studios still refuse to "take a chance" on movies with female superhero leads, or at least a lot of females in key roles, so we keep getting films with one female as the hero's girlfriend, or the sole woman in a team of six superheroes. At least TV is somewhat more progressive in this regard. Agents of SHIELD has a gender-equal team and has featured other women in important roles like VIctoria Hand, Raina and Lady Sif. But when it comes to movies, having more than the one obligatory "hot chick", or giving her a movie of her own, is apparently a huge risk.

Sadly, just seeing the comments from people (probably mostly men) makes you realize why it's so hard to break the cycle. There was an IGN article about Kevin Feige's comments regarding a BW solo movie back in February, and the comments ranged from "BW isn't an interesting enough character to have her own movie" at best to "I'd watch an hour and a half of Scarlett Johansson in a tight leather catsuit!!!!" at worst.

  13. Does it bother you when Marvel Studios does it too? Because they do. They have six or so untitled projects for '17 and '18.

    ReplyDelete
  14. First, your comment gives the impression that you perceive me as a Marvel fanboy looking to dump on DC, which is not the case. I really don't give a shit about that childish war. If I like something, I'm going to watch it regardless of whether it's Marvel or DC.

Second, Marvel may have untitled projects but they also have at least five upcoming ones with titles, and in some cases more details than that: Avengers 2, Captain America 3, Ant Man, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy 2. I would find it dumb if they only had one film with an actual title (like BvS) but decided to release dates for about ten more "untitled" films.

What I'm saying is, if you don't even have a title, much less a short synopsis for the film, there's exactly zero point in announcing the release date. It reeks of simply trying to tell the masses, "Yeah, we totally have a plan and a whole universe mapped out, just like Marvel... we don't actually know even the TITLES of the films we're going to be releasing, but, like, there are going to be tons of those. Just wait!"

    ReplyDelete
  15. Well we all knew someone was going to blink first in regards to the May 2016 clash, much better for all the fans.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Especially since one of the dates was moved up rather than down!

    ReplyDelete
  17. It's just a blatant attempt by DC that even the causalest of fans can see. STFU when you have no content in theaters and guardians just blew your bridges. Keep trying all while affleck hinges on your next flick that comes out in two years....

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yeah and considering Batman vs Superman was pushed from 2015 to 2016 already its nice we get it a bit earlier now.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I wouldn't really say copying. It's like if Sony bring out a new Playstation in four years, Microsoft have got to do the same. I read an interesting article that said DC are pretty much doing what Marvel did but the other way around - introducing their Justice League through the first movie then expanding into their own individual movies, then a proper JL. I think it'll be exciting. I also hope the arguments end. I love both Marvel and DC, and I'm not sure why other people can't. :(

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'd assume they're making movies for Wonder Woman, Batman, Green Lantern, The Flash (a partially confirmed source stated the latter two should appear in a team-up movie, but none of those dates link up with this source so I'm not sure). They'll also probably make a Man of Steel 2, and one of those movies will no doubt be Justice League. And if speculation is right and the Rock is playing Shazam, then he'll have a movie too. I hope a few of them are really unexpected and they go for not-so-known heroes just to prove they can make something out of nothing - look what Marvel have done with GotG.

  21. Studios release dates of untitled films all the time. This was a good idea. There has been rumours over the internet for over a year now of 'leaked schedules' from DC. At least this one is confirmed.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well the sure movies that i know of are the following: The Flash and Justice League. As for dates i know only that they are making them as for exact date we would have to wait and see. But from what i know 2017 might be The flash movie and 2018 Justice League.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Guardians did awesome at the box office, as expected. And it was an amazing movie. But all the talk since SDCC has been about Dawn of Justice and all we saw was Wonder Woman's suit and a 20 second clip that's barely surfaced. I'm sure DC are fine for now. Next year they will pull out all the stops.

  24. Ok cool thanks for your opinion, have a good day wherever you are in the world!

    ReplyDelete
  25. That's a real pity if that's what he said. I love Black Widow's comic origin and personally I think it would make a good flick.
It is a shame they haven't taken the plunge yet, for me at least I think SJ could carry her own flick. Interesting thoughts, thanks for your opinion have a good day!

  26. Oh, those quotes in the end were people's comments, not what Feige said. He basically just made some cryptic comments about Marvel "working on" a solo BW movie.

I think that even if they're hesitant about BW's draw power as a lead in her own movie, it wouldn't be that big of a commercial risk. The fact that she doesn't have superpowers might turn some people off, but on the flip side, it would mean the movie wouldn't be so expensive to produce (special effects) and therefore have to make a crapload of money at the box office to return the investment. It'd probably be more of a spy thriller. With the character having been in several Marvel movies already (and considered fairly popular), and ScarJo being an A-lister in Hollywood, I think a BW solo movie can be expected to do reasonably well.

  27. I'm not saying it doesn't happen. AnnoDomini pointed out above that Marvel has several untitled projects and I'm not disputing that. However, I think it's silly to make an announcement when you have basically nothing to announce. If they had titles for a few more movies beside BvS, okay, they could've additionally included release dates for several untitled projects as well. Alternately, they could've stated what the films are going to be about: for example, "Untitled Wonder Woman Film". When the entire list is untitled except for BvS (which still doesn't have a synopsis), it seems to me like an attempt to generate hype out of nothing,

And I'll clarify, again, that I have nothing against DC and aren't saying this to "side" with Marvel or anything. It just seems to me that they're flying by the seat of their pants in an attempt to keep up with the competition, thus making an announcement about nothing and hoping it'll be enough for fans to chew on for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Because some people are dumb and need to turn this into a fight every chance they get. It's like getting into a fight because someone prefers Burger King to Subway or Coke to Pepsi.
I don't love every single superhero movie but I love that we are getting so many of them and I will watch the superhero movies with an open mind instead of loving/hating something because of the company that did it.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Gal Gadot has been hired for five movies so I'm sure at least one of them will be solo movie. I hope Nightwing appears if they do a new Batman movie and since this Batman is supposed to be in his late 40s I can see Nightwing showing up.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I agree. Some Marvel obnoxious fans will defend anything Marvel/Disney does and won't admit their flaws. The sexism is one of them. I'm tired of people saying Black Widow is a feminist character and we should be happy with what we get when she is just there to be "the chick" or to help the men. They missed a huge opportunity to develop her character more in WS. I hated that they ignored her backstory with Bucky.

    ReplyDelete
  31. So when Marvel does this it's ok but when DC does it it's a stupid attempt? Especially because studios have been doing this kind of stuff for years now. Gotta love fanboy logic. Also I'm tired of this stupid fan war.

    ReplyDelete
  32. This is good for both movies. Batman vs. Superman going against Captain America 3, would have hurt them both.

Also, enough with the Marvel vs. DC fan boy/ girl crap, i love them both, and hope both studios succeed. All the better, for superhero fans.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I don't believe, that they are doing it, out of sexism. I believe they are worried, about a flop, and losing a lot of money. It's pure economics, not sexism. As far as business decisions go, Marvel made the right moves so far.

That said, i do believe they are wrong about, about their worries of a flop. I would definitely go see a Black Widow movie, and a Gamora movie too. Also with the introduction of the Scarlet Witch, in the next Avengers movie, they could make one with her. She is a popular Marvel character. I'd also love to see a Ms Marvel/ Captain Marvel movie as well.

On the plus side, Marvel does have tv two series coming up, that have strong female leads: Agent Carter and AKA Jessica Jones. Which is more than DC has done.

I have to agree that Marvel is concerned of a flop. David Hayter pretty much said so in an interview with Latino Review last month.

Apparently a script for a Black Widow movie was written around 10 years ago (which is roughly the same time the first version of the Iron Man script was written). However at the time, female driven action movies weren't doing that well at the box office so it was shelved.

Since then female driven action movies are doing a lot better so David Hayter mentioned that he plans on speaking to Marvel about reigniting the project. Hopefully they agree and take a chance in Phase 3.

  35. I don't know about the other characters you mention but I'm sure a Black Widow movie will do better than an Ant-Man movie and they are doing that (despite the production being a mess).

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think it would do better than Antman too. The Scarlet Witch is the most popular female Avenger in the comics. A Vision and Scarlet movie, would do very well imo.

Ms Marvel/ Captain Marvel is very popular with Marvel Comics fans, and an Avenger as well. Valkyrie is from Asgard, sort of the female version of Thor; and one of the first five members, of the original Defenders.

Storm, Rogue, Black Cat, would have great success imo; unfortunately other movie studios, own the rights. Though rumor has it, Sony is producing a Black Cat movie.

If it was sexism, then they wouldn't made Black Widow, such a kickass character. They are worried about a repeat of Electra. In the Agent Carter short film, they show the sexism, she had to deal with in the 40s. She out performed, all of the male agents, by far. And got promoted to run SHIELD. Her sexist former boss, had to grovel to her, congratulate her, and give her the news, she was now his boss.

    ReplyDelete
  37. It will probably depend on how well, Agent Carter and AKA Jessica Jones do. But i think all of phase 3's films are picked. Ant Man, Dr. Strange, Captain America 3, Thor 3 Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and Avengers 3. It will have to wait for phase 4, with Black Panther, Iron Man 4, ect.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Then you got the wrong impression.

It doesn't even matter if you're a Marvel/Disney fan, and my comment wasn't aimed towards it. Just asking if it bothers you when Marvel Studios does the same thing, that's all. Nothing else behind that question than just being a question.

And yes, while Marvel Studios does a few projects already listed, that still doesn't say anything about how both studios have gone about with announcing released dates for unannounced projects. But, if it would shed some light on one, supposedly Dwayne Johnson is going to be Shazam and Joseph Gordon-Levitt is working on a Sandman film. When will we know the titles? It's hard to say, but I don't see anything wrong with releasing dates first, titles later.

  39. "causalest"

Please don't butcher a word when you're trying to make a point, no matter how much of a troll you want to sound like with your obvious pissed off comment.

Also, what "content" does WB/DC exactly have in theatres that you are referring to?

    ReplyDelete
  40. As someone who wanted to see both, I think this is a great idea. Now I won't have to choose which one to watch at the midnight showing. I thought I'd have to end up flipping a coin.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm talking about the movies. It should be obvious. And it's sexism. It doesn't matter if she beats up some random characters because she gets no development and no backstory. She is only there to support the male characters.
And tv works different than movies. There's a reason why some tv shows have a lot more quality when it comes to writing and acting than movies.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Couldn't agree more it's ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I actually wish they did a Gamora movie as one of the very few who was extremely disappointed in GOTG, I was intrigued by her character and wish we could have seen more of her backstory on film.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yes I would have loved them to develop her comic origin story more in WS instead of making it the way they did.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I hope the Sabdman flick gets made, actually I'm quite looking forward to that one.

    ReplyDelete
  46. They said they're announcing some movies later this month.
