Get ready to meet Mama Smoak!
NYPD Blue alum Charlotte Ross has been tapped to play the mother of Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) on Arrow, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
Ross, whose credits also include Nashville, Days of Our Lives and Glee, is slated to appear in at least one episode in early November. Details on Felicity's mother — including her name and whether she'll appear in flashback or present day — are being kept heavily guarded.

ReplyDeleteAs glas as I am that Felicity is getting her own storyline, I'm worried they're going to give her some tragic backstory. C'mon show, you can have ONE person without dark secrets or whatever in their past, who had a fairly normal life prior to getting involved with the Team Arrow business. There's enough melodrama to go around as it is.
ReplyDeleteEveryone's parents on TV seem to be played by actors too young for those parts, unless they had those kids in their teens. There's some major ageism going around in Hollywood.

ReplyDeleteI too think they forgot about it. With the way she said she dyes her hair I thought both her parents were brunettes or red heads :) Maybe its like Malcolm, Moira and Thea.
ReplyDeleteSometime during season 2 finale AK said they didn't do backstory on Felicity in season 2 because there was no room for a lighter B story since Slade's reveal in present day.
ReplyDeleteThey might have changed the plot since then but I get a feeling this story is not going to be filled with melodrama except for dead beat daddy dearest part. Mama Smoak might turn out to be a funny addition.
They said so many different versions i don't know what to believe x.x

ReplyDeleteIsn't Ra's of middle eastern ethnicity. Emily Bett does not look like mixed race. Look at Nyssa. She looks exotic. Then again its TV land anything can happen.

ReplyDeleteI think it's good casting choice because she does look kinda look like Felicity. I kinda remember her as Quinn's mother on Glee but nothing else because I never watched Days of Our Lives or NYPD Blue.

ReplyDeletePersonally I hope they don't make him white. The name Ra's is a very arabic name. But this is Arrow. They changed ethnicities of Sin and Sandra Hawke. So who knows.

ReplyDeleteBut still I want Ra's to be played by an Arab looking guy. Also Felicity being Talia.... I don't like it only because I think we will come to know Oliver had some run in with league in the past while working for Waller. And I want Felicity not to be a part of Oliver's past even peripherally. I really disliked it last year when Sin was connected to Sara's island storyline. For me Sara protecting a girl from bad guys with no motivation would have been better story than her keeping a promise.
Now Felicity's father coming as a new villain or an Argus operative I like.

ReplyDeleteI hope so. I have so many head canons for Felicity's father. Possibilities are endless. He can be a good guy, bad guy, a spy or even someone like Waller.
ReplyDeleteI think it all depends on how crowded this season is from all this storylines. They did say a new DC character is going to be introduced after mid season finale. This was before comic con I think. So not sure if they were talking about Ra's. If not it could be Felicity's father.
I love JB. I say give it few years. He is going to look younger than both SA and Collin Donnel. He refuses to age.
ReplyDeleteI am still a bit careful regarding Felicity's story because what happened during last season. Her story getting pushed all the time and that awful Time of Death episode i am trying to be carefully optimistic but not always succeeding.
ReplyDeleteI thought they were just bluffing when they said they always knew what Felicity's background was. But this description says mysterious past. What do I know? They did plan it.
ReplyDeleteThey have so many storylines happening this season. God knows how the pacing will be. Lets hope they have a plan to carry all these stories together. Last season was a mess in that regard. But from the interviews it seems like they have a better plan of action this year. Fingers crossed.

Well since the last birthday shown on TV was Tommy's i think. hard to know their ages.
ReplyDeleteDon't joke about that man. That would horrible if Ra's al Ghul was her dad. I don't even mean from a writing perspective (though I would hate it), but because even if she didn't know him, Ra's is a horrible father in the comics.
ReplyDeleteNot really. Oliver is 29. Felicity is 26. Thea is 18, Roy is 19. Diggle, i believe is 30 (maybe 31) Everyone else's ages aren't really important. Not to me anyway. If i felt like digging more into, then i'd have more info on Quentin, Sara, etc.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you on this, but since they are giving a huge importance to Felicity I wouldn't be surprised if they indeed made her connected with Ra's who is a main villain this season. I was making a joke, but when I give some thought to it these writers could definitely do something like that.

ReplyDeleteThe thing with Felicity is like Digg she is a new character (even though she was in comics) they can move her any where. Join her in any story line. Nothing will be unbelievable. I think they won't mess with Ra's mythology much since they themselves are big lovers of Nolan's batman series. Then again they like to shock us.
