The SpoilerTV 2014 Episode Competition - Day 16 - Semi-Finals

7 Jul 2014

DAY 16! (Results from yesterday can be found here.)

It's the semi-finals today. We're almost at the final hurdle. Four episodes remain, but which one will triumph?

The rules are as follows:
1. Two episodes go head to head for 24 hours. The episode that emerges as winner will go through to the next round.
2. Vote for your favourite episode, and tell us what you voted for.
3. Tell others about the competition.
4. Be respectful. This is a competition, but be friendly.

An all-seeded affair sees The Mentalist's 'Blue Bird' take on Game of Thrones' 'The Rains of Castamere'. The other semi-final, an all-non-seeded affair, sees two Beauty and the Beast episodes go face-to-face: 'Catch Me If You Can' takes on 'About Last Night'. All three shows have large fanbases on the site. This will be interesting.

Make sure to tell us who you voted for in the comments, along with who you think will make it through to tomorrow's final.

The draw:

Don’t forget to share the poll; the more people vote, the more chance your episode has of winning!

Check back on Tuesday for THE FINAL!

  1. Just Game of Thrones today!

  2. The Mentalist!!!

I don´t care for BatB but I think they will win like they always do :(

  3. Boring. Boo. No shows for me. Not my favorite GoT episode but it's the only one I'd vote for.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Well, it is a "fan favorite" poll. Nothing to win here.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I know...but is always the same...
And I know it´s the same with TM...we are always in it too and we always loose against BatB :)

    ReplyDelete
  6. Just take comfort in the fact you know YOUR favorite and it doesn't need random poll validation. I've never watched TM but I think I need to give it a try.

    ReplyDelete
  7. The Mentalist <333

I watch&like GoT too but TM will always be my first choice :D

    ReplyDelete
  8. You should but I am not very objectiv about this subject.
It really depends on what you normally like watching on TV :)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Only Game Of Thrones , although i don't think it will stand a chance against the Mentalist.

    ReplyDelete
  10. At least you're honest! I've read a lot of good things but my TV schedule was so full, I just never started. My OCD says I have to watch from the beginning. So that I will do. I almost watched the Red John episode as a stand alone because I read it was amazing TV.

  11. Just Game of Thrones!

    GoT

  13. And only 2 years ago everyone said the said about Supernatural. Next year it will be some other show..

    ReplyDelete
  14. I voted for The Mentalist - Blue Bird, and Beauty and the Beast - About Last Night.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ugh, how boring, all my shows are out.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I loved Blue Bird but in this case there is no competition. the Rains of Castamere is a whole different level

  17. Most episodes can be watched as a stand alone ep but to understand everything (esp. about RJ) you should watch from the beginning. It´s a very well acted show with good storys and a good balance between funny and serious episodes.
I am a Simon Baker Fan so I have to say that but I think you can see that he had much to say about how to act as Patrick Jane and you can see that he was free to do what he wanted in most scenes without anyone trying to press him into a given role ( sorry I am not a nativ english speaker and it is hard to explain what is in my mind) :) And the chemistry between the cast was great from the beginning and you can see that. For me it´s an important part to like a show or not.
lol That´s much more as I wanted to say :)

Game of Thrones the moral winner.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I love both episodes of Beauty and the Beast...can't believe they are going up against each other, this stinks!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Love BATB, but GoT is truly epic. Read all of the books many years ago, and the series has not been a disappointment…
So for me right now, it's About Last Night and GoT

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yes, it does stink.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Both The Mentalist Episodes where up against each other in the last round and also both Castle eps before so nothing stinks here!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Game of Thrones today. Which likely means I'm out as I don't watch Mentalist and never got into Beauty and the Beast

    ReplyDelete
  24. BatB against BatB? About Last Night because Vincent and Cat finds their way back to each other.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hey, we dont always win. I'm just happy both our shows got another season. A short one for BatB fans, but still, a season. Good luck tomorrow, looks like we will be up against each other. BatB season finale tomorrow, so a lot of fans will be trending on twitter. Hopefully, we can multi task LOL

    ReplyDelete
  26. For me it does because I love both BATB episodes and I don't want to choose between them!

    ReplyDelete
  27. #BATB is the best TV series ever. That is why it has such a great fan base. Great cast and crew and writers. And we are a dedicated fan base.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Game of Thrones

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think they had to do this so it wouldn't be an all #BATB final. Not sure that is right but if it is then they also decide who wins.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Who do you think 'they are' that decides who wins?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Panos Nestoras6 July 2014 at 19:10

    Only Game of Thrones...

    ReplyDelete
  32. whoever is hosting this contest..

    ReplyDelete
  33. Your so wrong! The only person that decide who wins are the voters, meaning YOU! The Episode that gets the most votes win, period end of story. Why are batb fans always so suspicious when it comes to polls here. Do you honestly think the person running this is going to manipulate the outcome?

    ReplyDelete
  34. My final four, in no particular order:

Game of Thrones "The Rains of Castamere"
    The Walking Dead "The Grove"
    True Detective "Who Goes There"
    The Americans "Echo"

Runners up: Sleepy Hollow "Bad Blood", Person of Interest "Deus ex Machina", Agents of SHIELD "Turn, Turn, Turn"

These 8 episodes, were the best i watched from June 1, 2013 to May 31, 2014. A year that had a lot of amazing television.

    A special mentions to:

Rectify "Drip, Drip" - Season 1 ended May 2013, and season two started in mid June 2014. So all of it's episodes, miss the poll this year.
Les Revenants "Camile" - Though it broadcasted in the States, in the fall 2013; it originally broadcasted in France, in the fall 2012.

  35. Not getting into a argument about this. Sure I am a devoted #BATB fan and regardless of this I have a right to my opinion. If you think I am wrong well that is your opinion and I respect that.. And you know what? It isn't just the #BATB fans who are suspicious think you should read more comments and you'll see I am not the first to voice this opinion. Sorry if I have offended you.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I agree with all of your choices. I think I'm going to do my final four and honorable mentions. This is a fun way for fans to choose their own if they have no choice here. Now I have to narrow down my favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  37. even if they wasn't up against each other , a BATB final couldn't of been guaranteed anything can knock out anything. Other shows have a dedicated fan base too.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Good luck to Mentalist and GOT fans. See you at the final tomorrow

    ReplyDelete
  39. Actually it has a lot of fans because... it has a lot of fans. Popularity doesn't necessarily equal quality (and I don't mean just for TV), it just means it appeals to a lot of people.

    ReplyDelete
  40. [X-files theme song begins]

    ReplyDelete
  41. Nah, the only ones who decide who wins are the people voting in these polls. There were some basic rules for the draws that were stated on the first day but that's all. And BatB isn't the only show that, at some point in this competition, had to compete against itself.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Aw man. Blue Bird and The Rains of Castamere are both great episodes, albeit in very different ways... In the end I went with the one that made me feel happy (Blue Bird), not the one that crushed my soul, but I'd have voted for both if I could.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I also loved both The Mentalist episodes but we have to deal with the choice Spoiler TV made to compete the episodes against each other...

    ReplyDelete
  44. LOL Beauty and the beast vs Beauty and the beast.... Good one there xD..

Just GoT for me... but it's loosing

    ReplyDelete
  45. This is how it came out in the draw. There is no conspiracy going on. Both BatB episodes just happened to be on the same half of the draw.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Bradley, when does this poll close? tomorrow and about what time?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Tomorrow at 12pm ET. So 15 hours and 21 minutes from now :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Thanks! :) Now lets go see if we can make this a competition!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Throwing my vote to Game of Thrones. Mostly because I've seen more of the other two shows and didn't care for them.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think it was a wonderfully made episode that spoke volumes for the series but it wasn't my favorite. The desolate doom and gloom of a lot of my favorite series, is starting to wear on me!

    ReplyDelete
  51. SHIELDNCISArrowfan6 July 2014 at 21:01

I predict that BATB win the entire competition........

    ReplyDelete
  52. thank you Rob, didn't mean to start a debate here Just feel that is what is happening. Everyone is allowed their own opinions and like I said before I do respect that. Just wish they would respect my opinion too.

    ReplyDelete
  53. You are right, One never knows

    ReplyDelete
  54. I would have loved to see Rectify in the polls, such a great show! But it would never have gotten through the first poll, because there aren´t enough fans in here. Shame really, it is some of the best acting I have ever seen.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Rectify wouldn't have actually counted, as no episodes aired inside the period for episodes to be nominated (1st June 2013 - 31st May 2014).

    ReplyDelete
  56. No opinion necessary here, there was no conspiracy to potentially end up with these two episodes facing each other in the semi-finals. In fact, it wasn't until I was putting the QF results onto the draw spreadsheet that I noticed they would be facing each other today. Just the luck of the draw.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Two, amazing episodes of Beauty & the Beast, but between the two I choose About Last Night!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Their is no debate , you have your opinion others have there's (including myself). Everyone is entitled to an opinion and i respect their that.

    ReplyDelete
  59. That´s what I mean :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. I like and watch all the remaining shows. But if I have to pick BATB appeals more to me. And I loved both episodes

    ReplyDelete
  61. Yeah, I know, that´s why I didn´t nominate it. Maybe next year. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Voted GoT and it's losing? :0 To The Mentalist ?????!!!!! What is happening here :(

    ReplyDelete
  63. Blue Bird was possibly the worst, most predictable episode of The Mentalist... in my opinion at least

    ReplyDelete
  64. #BATB Happy to be able to make you laugh Ralph. Although I believe my comment to be true in my opinion, you are allowed to have your own opinion. Ergo the sarcasm in your reply. I do believe we live in a country where we have freedom of speech.

    ReplyDelete
  65. It depends on what fails7 July 2014 at 14:21

Lowest common denominator being lowest common denominator

    ReplyDelete
  66. The Mentalist is really big around here, and while I like it I agree.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Despoina Lampridou7 July 2014 at 17:17

I do not think that batb it's the best show ever -- even though i'm a huge fan ( i won't hide it ) .. but by my humble oppinion the first couple of episodes were the worse ones ... season 2 it's 'levels' up ?! ... I want to say is a whole lot better - season two it's like a different show really .. especially from 2x15 to 2x22 .. just thought i should point that out ...( sorry for any mistakes ;) -- english is not my 'mother language' )

    ReplyDelete
  68. So the final is shipping fandom vs. shipping fandom? Not interested.

    ReplyDelete
  69. You have the right to think so and I have the right not agree with it ;)
