The 100 scored E4's biggest ever programme launch on Monday, according to overnight figures.
The post-apocalyptic drama attracted an average audience of 1.39 million and a 6.5% audience share at 9pm, with an added 351,000 (2.1%) on +1. It also easily topped the multichannels for the day.

It's amazing considering how many people there are in the UK compared to the US. It just goes to show that there really is a silly CW bias in the states.
ReplyDeleteThere definitely is. I'm almost positive that if The 100 was on a network like ABC or Fox, it would be a hit, but people don't bother with CW shows.
ReplyDeleteThe bias is incredible obvious. Also people usually have the most stupid complaints about the CW. Every single network has good looking people, young characters and romance but the haters act like only the CW has those.
ReplyDeleteThat really grinds my gears! The complain about the looks of the actors, but come on! 90% of Tv shows have beautiful people on it, and I don't see anyone complaining about that on Castle or Scandal!
ReplyDeleteTo be fair it was extremely heavily advertised, i'm living in Ireland but we get E4 as well and i've actually never seen a show so heavily advertised on any channel over here before. OUAT & Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. were the only other shows I've seen get a lot of advertising over here.

ReplyDeleteI love the CW but to be fair the average age of their actors is younger than most networks and they do seem to insist of love triangles in most of their shows. I personally don't care about the actors' ages but for some people the younger turn affects the plot too much for them. For instance, I think Star-Crossed would have done better if it had been set at the college level instead of high school.
ReplyDeleteRomance issues and love geometry is by far the number 1 issue I have with the CW. It often seems thrown in just to have it. Now the good looking people argument does seem completely absurd to me because that is Hollywood in general. I agree that an unfair bias exists against the CW, but mostly I blame Dawn OStroff for that. She singlemindedly pursued young, hot, rich, teen programming that typecast the CW so badly that they are still reeling from the prejudice even though they have been moving away from that since Pedowitz took over. It will take awhile before most people realize that this is no longer the CW it was before.
It's hilarious how some people hate Arrow because it's a "teen show" when it's obvious they haven't even watched an episode. The youngest person in the cast is Thea (20) but the rest are all 30 or older.
ReplyDeleteEven in S1 when Thea was still in high school they never showed her at school and doing anything that wasn't plot related.
Nobody complaints about Scandal, Grey's Anatomy or Revenge despite the fact they pretty much fit all the complaints people have about The CW.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what the fuss is concerning this show. It felt stale to me. The dialogue, almost infantile. At least gaeta (from battlestar galactica, a real SciFi) is present, at attention, in a similar role which is good. But the CW and their angsty teenage crap really bores me, man. I'm 22, I want a show like battlestar galactica. Not twilight, divergent, Percy Jackson in one, but I'll give the show a chance. At lest it has some diversity, unlike the tomorrow people.
ReplyDeleteThat's great to hear. I think the show deserves to have as much success in the US, really. It really goes to show that there is a bias against CW shows. I think the 100 is incredible, I would love for it to pull a miracle and blow CW ratings through the roof!
