  3. I cried like a baby...I think I was hoping so hard for a coma because I knew deep down Angelo wouldn't make it. It's especially hard to process when I think about him pouring his heart out to Daphne right before Regina unknowingly kicked him while he was down...I'm just glad that it was more likely the aneurysm that caused the crash than suicide. I can't blame Daphne for being angry with Regina, though. Regina might not have known about the aneurysm, but she was brutal. How could she not ease up a smidgen when she saw the look on his face? To add insult to injury, it almost mirrored the day she kicked him out of hers and Daphne's lives, highlighting that she still needs to work on her temper. Not saying Angelo's a saint and it's all on her, but...it really made me want to be careful how I end any conversation with someone I love.

  4. That was so freaking sad! I just know Regina feels so guilty, but really it wasn't her fault. Everyone has said something in the heat of the moment that they wish they could take back. She didn't know that would be the last time she would ever speak to him again. I really liked Angelo too. He really was a great dad to Bay and Daphne.

  5. Oh that was heartbreaking! I loved Angelo, and I love Gilles Marini, he was so good. The flash forwards were a great addition, even though it was too sad..this was so unexpected!

I watched this show for years but why does the family of color never catch a break but the white family can get away or over anything? Angelo has to die but the white father overcomes a heart attack after laying there for hours (and then becomes Senator after his "daughter" blackmails his opposition)? The white family lies to security and gets to graffiti the Kauffman Center without problems? Have an addicted son who cannot qualify for college but no problems? In the meantime, the deaf girl raised Hispanic struggles to get into law school and she is a genius! Angelo had to 'blow' his money but the white man who never seems to work is never money tight. The white mother is magically an author and Mother Teresa but the woman who raised her child poor and by herself doesn't know how to pray? All poor single mothers know how to pray! The show has subtle changes in a direction I am not pleased with seeing. It used to have a well-blended diversity where both families had challenges and rewards. The undertone now is that money and whiteness can solve anything...

It was a very sad episode and so unexpected. But i guess.. Angelo had to die.. so Giles Marini can play Carmen's new Love interest on Devious Maids, on Season 3. We'll see...

  8. The disparities between the 2 families has always been present, but have been based on social class more so than to simply race and the inaccuracies of your argument are bothering me...

Regina was practically right there when John had a heart attack and kept him alive with CPR until the paramedics arrived

Daphne blackmailed Coto while John was in office, he wasn't his opposition, so that had nothing to do with the election

The Kennishes didn't graffiti the Kauffman Center, they put on a light show (although, I will grant that they did accidentally knock out the power)

Toby chose to get married instead of go to college, and got a job managing one of John's car washes, which brings me to my next point...

John doesn't go to work because he doesn't need to. He retired from baseball with money, and made more money with the car washes he owns and employs managers to run. He's earned the right to take it easy, and has chosen to do so.

Angelo was handed a windfall and went on a shopping spree instead of growing the money. He was like a case study for the book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" which talks about the things rich dads teach their kids about money that poor/middle-class dads don't. There was no one to advise him in how to manage his money.

Daphne might be smart, but it takes more than just being smart to get into universities these days, and her strategy, until recently, was for Gallaudet, not whatever schools with strong pre-med programs she's looking at now. Plus they are very expensive and she had a lower class upbringing and was taught to view money in a different way than Bay and Toby who sneeze at things like thinking about how their college education will be funded because they have college funds set up and know John and Kathryn will cover any tuition.

Anybody can write a book, Kathryn just had the time to get it done, as well as get involved with whatever causes she wants, because her husband worked hard so she could have that kind of time on her hands.

I doubt very much that all single mothers know how to pray. If they do, I'd bet it isn't a conscious action on a good portion of their parts. Regina isn't a religious person.

  9. It's amazing how people can make everything a racism issue. So funny!

  10. Heh, Bay is getting on my nerve. I think she is like the most self-righteous, pompous character I've ever seen on TV. The "Are you even on my side?" that she said to Emmett was so annoying as hell, like everything is a competition to her.

BTW, what a sad episode. I loved how everyone reacted to Angelo's death. I loved everyone in this episode, well, except Bay of course.
