Once Upon a Time - Season 4 - Elizabeth Mitchell joins Cast

8 Jul 2014

Mitchell has joined the cast of ABC’s Once Upon a Time for a season 4 arc as part of the much-anticipated Frozen-inspired storyline.

Mitchell’s Once Upon role isn’t being revealed yet, but we’re told she is “possibly malevolent” with ties to royal Frozen sisters Anna (newcomer Elizabeth Lail) and Elsa (Fringe familiar Georgina Haig) as well as to Storybrooke and Arendell.

  4. WEll fans, you got what you wanted, but not in the way you suggest.

    ReplyDelete
  5. That was my first thought on seeing the title. Personally, I couldn't care less, but good for her and the fans that want her on their screen in any way, shape or form.

    ReplyDelete
  6. This is an Epic Win! I wanted her as Elsa but just to have her on the show is good enough. YES!!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah, but there is something like flashbacks.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Revolution 😢😢😢

    ReplyDelete
  19. Well in some really strange way I can kinda see how loose logic could make this happen... after all snow is "Frozen" water lol.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Does not make sense since her character will b in Storybrooke too

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks I'm aware of that. That doesn't mean I didn' have slim hope on a relocation.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Honestly,i'm not sure if i'm excited or not..

  23. NOOOO! NOT HER!
I was so excited to watch the new season and even more so with all the new additions to the cast and now this. Thank you so much for ruining my favourite show.

  26. Only in the lands of OUaT could I make a wish and have it come true. Great news.

    ReplyDelete
  27. or the evil stepmother / evil aunt.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Dont watch! bye.

  29. I love Elizabeth Mitchell, now I am actually excited for this and I am only a casual viewer of Once Upon a Time but Elizabeth Mitchell playing evil is going to be epic. I remember the beginning of season 3 of LOST, Her Juliet was so scary she made Ben Linus look like the Easter Bunny.

    ReplyDelete
  30. CAN'T BELIEVE IT HAPPENED!!!!!! IM CRYING!!!! LIZ <3333

    ReplyDelete
  31. Not sure about this. I only liked her on LOST , didn't like her on Revolution or V.

    ReplyDelete
  32. As long as she's not related to Henry in anyway, I'm game.

    ReplyDelete
  33. YES YES YES YES and YES again! She is still probably my favorite TV person of all time!

    ReplyDelete
  34. She's playing Olaf. haha

    ReplyDelete
  35. Ha! I didn't think of that,ya!

I'm not excited because i don't know the story or characters of Frozen,so i would rather have characters that have been on and characters that i know. Oh well,we'll see how it goes.If nothing else it will be interesting to see all this unfold.

  36. "Josh ( Sawyer - Lost ) Holloway should be cast as King Adgar !!!"

    That would be fun! :)

  37. I have never seen the Disney version, but I am familiar with The Snow Queen, but I do know some of the Disney plots/characters too, since some of my friends are obsessed with them!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yes! Happy she joining the show

    ReplyDelete
  39. Are they really? ;)

Given that EM's Revolution character Rachel Matheson (much like Irina Derevko, I might add--which also ends up being 'a tale of two sisters') ended up being alive by the end of the first season, I could see the OUAT people allude to those things and make this their "twist" on the tale! (But an Aunt could work too!)

    ReplyDelete
  40. In the history of Bad Robot, it hasn't happened yet!

    ReplyDelete
  41. i am ecstatic... it's the best news so far!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Awesome, this is fantastic! I'm excited to see how she's going to play :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. OMG !!!!

I just realized that it wasn't Elsa ( or Anna ) who Rumple had trapped / that appeared at the end of the season but it was the evil Snow Queen 'Elizabeth Mitchell'.

Anna and Elsa will come to Strorybrooke to help fight their evil stepmother / aunt !!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ahahah, I literally thought of the exact same thing when I saw the title! Oh my god I adore Elizabeth Mitchell so much, I am having such a major fanboy moment right now, it's ridiculous

  46. While I'm glad she's not Elsa as so many were wishing (She's just TOO OLD to play the character), I'm glad she is on the show because I do like her.

Oh My God, first Georgina Haigg from Fringe and now Elizabeth Mitchel?!!?!?! What is this? Early christmas?! :D

    ReplyDelete
  48. OMG! I absolutely LOVE her!! So excited to see what role she'll play!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Super excited! Last week I even voted for her in the Ouat poll about Elsa :-)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Like minds! :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. This has me more excited for this show since season one! Fantastic news!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. PREDICTION: Elizabeth Mitchell will be the 'original' Snow Queen, King Adgar's first wife and Elsa's mother. Anna will be Adgar's daughter with his second wife. Making Elsa and Anna half sister.

    ReplyDelete
  53. LOL, multiple people on different sites today have said they immediately thought of me when the news broke. Still laughing about it.

    ReplyDelete
  54. The Georgina Haigg announcement got me thinking about returning to Once but this news seals the deal! Now to get caught up before the new season starts!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Wow!! So cool that they're casting her. I love how so many fans on this website predict every move...

  56. Aryam Manzueta Avila9 July 2014 at 07:18

That was Elsa. She is wearing the exact same clothes in the show and in the movie.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anna will be Anna's half sister?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Maybe that was OLDER Elsa, plyed by Michell. Younger Elsa could appear in flashbacks.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I keep hoping they are going to get things back together and then I'll get caught up, but every decision every plotline pushes me further away. Elizabeth Mitchell needs to stop being hired, she can't act besides having a pained disdainful face at everything. Maybe being a villain will help her, but I doubt it. She probably just be discontent, and then K&H will try to "redeem" her by never making her regret any terrible thing she's ever done and just telling the audience it wasn't her fault she choose to terrorize and murder people. Not interested.

  60. " having a pained disdainful face at everything"

So not true. Watch her scenes opposite Josh Holloway in LOST (other than the death scene of course) and you will see her glow and smile in ways she usually doesn't on screen. What EM does best is NOT overly show her emotions, which leaves one wondering what the heck she's thinking! It makes her mysterious, a cooler subdued female character, who could do anything at anytime with no warning! Silent Deadly!! Even on Revolution one of her best scenes is when she is able to kill her former friend, who turned on her. It was so unexpected (because Rachel Matheson didn't do a lot of physical action sequences being a scientist-type) and violent!

"and then K&H will try to "redeem" her by never making her regret any terrible thing she's ever done and just telling the audience it wasn't her fault she choose to terrorize and murder people. Not interested."

Of course that's your choice, but yes that IS what this show is about...forgiveness and trying to get to a better place, because it's making a point at how easy it is to become corrupt...However some of the villains that don't change do end up dying-Cora, Peter Pan, ect (and even some of the good characters that didn't exactly deserve it--Graham, Daniel, Neal). To me the playing field is level.

  61. Great actress. I'm looking forward to seeing Elizabeth Mitchell's character. I just hope the writing is good.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I wish Josh was Robin Hood.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Are you sure you're not a writer or spy for the show,lol... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  64. No,
Elsa and Anna would have the same ( King Agdar ) father but have different mothers.
The { original } Snow Queen ( Mitchell ) would be Elsa's mother well Queen Idun
(not cast yet ) would be Anna's mother.

  65. Wow. NOW I understood.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I can't believen I hadn't seen this! I saw Giancarlo Sposito was returning but not this! I read about it in one of the comments in synopsis for next season.
So what's the theory going around? she's present evil Elsa and Etta is younger Elsa? or another character, one we don't know as of yet, alltogether?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Victoria Llanos10 July 2014 at 18:29

    Evil female Olaf, LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Victoria Llanos10 July 2014 at 18:33

Hmm... I kinda like this theory...

    ReplyDelete
  69. I think this would change the Frozen story a lot. I don't think they want to destroy the movie.

    ReplyDelete
  70. For me, redemption requires regret. You have to take responsibility for what you've done and atone. If you fob it all off on another crappy character, then there is no agency and there is not redemption, there is only explanation, leaving the burden of forgiveness squarely on the shoulders of victims. You have to try to atone, not just let the writers say, "hey she is a terrible mass murderer who destroyed an entire civilization for her owns ends. but hey, she also terrorized a small child to make herself feel better and her mom was a crappy. So you, know get over it." That isn't redemption, that's writers losing their way based on fan reaction and a total incapability of sticking to a coherent story.

Lighting isn't acting. Elizabeth Mitchell has a wonderful colorist and makeup artist and yes, she can glow. But her go to "emotion" in at least 3 shows I can think of is pained regret whether it's her character's fault or someone else's. Her killing someone isn't a surprise: Mitchell plays them all the same. Capable of horrible things, but also capable of justifying whatever they feel warranted by a sanctimonious hypocrisy. Whatever has made the situation too unbearably annoying for her character to deal with has nothing to do with her. Sorry, can't agree. But at least you are happy with where OUAT is going.
