I apologize for the teeny print on the bracket but if you click on the magnifying glass at the bottom you should be able to adjust it. You can also view or download it for yourself. It is a fillable form so I encourage you to create either a bracket of who you'd like to win or make your predictions of who's going to and share them. Well there are less awesome female than male characters imo on TV, so it would be easier for Fringe fans to vote for Olivia than it would be to choose between Walter and many other great guys.

ReplyDeleteFinal will be The Mentalist (Patrick) v BATB (Vincent) again. Instead of one knocking out the other early on, they're on opposite sides and will takeover their sides. BATB (Vincent) will win.
Arrow (Felicity) or Supernatural (Dean) will win the bottom left section until it goes up against The Mentalist (Patrick).
Castle (Kate) or OUAT (Regina) will win the bottom right section until it goes up against BATB (Vincent).
Who I'd like to win:
Buffy Summers, The Doctor, Dana Scully or Veronica Mars. Pretty much characters who have made an impact on TV.
Here's hoping I'm totally wrong and we get a surprise winner! :)

ReplyDeleteFinch vs The Doctor, Scully vs. Chandler, and Veronica vs. Chuck. No matter how they turn out, 3 great characters are foing to be gone too soon.
Mentalist, BATB and Castle characters are the top 3 seeds.
ReplyDeleteGive up people, fight for the 4th place on the semifinals (unless SPN fans decide to take it Dean to it too), consider you character the real winner winner if he/she makes the quarterfinals.
I look forward to talking about Ichabod in particular as a character for as long as he makes it in. He fascinates me.

Probably but it will be a great discussion of some overlooked characters along the way and that's the focus, not the end result.
ReplyDeleteA lot surprised me too. Sometimes it was the shows that came out a lot stronger than I expected. Sometimes it was which character ended up representing their show. I think it will be a fun group to discuss.

ReplyDeleteWalter only got 6 nominations so for awhile there I was concerned about Fringe as a whole. Olivia got 15 noms. I too wish he were in here but I'm glad Fringe is still represented. Plus I am still going to talk about him throughout the contest because I think they built his characters up well throughout the series. He should be an example for a lot of writers.

ReplyDeleteI agree that it was because of only being able to nominate 2 males and 2 females that Olivia surpassed him. If it had just been nominate your favorite 4 characters, things might have been different. Sad that there are not as many great female characters on TV as male ones.
ReplyDeleteI am personally hoping for a few upsets just because it will be more fun that way. There are some characters rankeds much higher than I expected and some that didn't make it that I thought for sure would so I have hopes for this one.

ReplyDeleteI am just hoping Stiles gets through the first round, but I'd love to see him going on further. As far as the nominations go, Stiles and Lydia had by far the most nominations with Derek next. Dominion surprised me more in how far up it is in the rankings than in the one chosen to be honest.
I don't know if i did this right but I only filled in the ones i'd vote for. My winner ended up being Vanessa Ives, im guessing most of the ones I put in will get knocked out pretty early. Sorry if its too small to read.

ReplyDeleteThe "real" winner will be the character that wins in the end and I really hope that this contest will not be hampered by people's sour grapes. That makes it less fun for everyone. In the end, I hope the "real" winner is the people who participate in the contest and have fun enjoying the discussions along the way. Internet contests are never really for deciding a winner but for making it a great place to chat about your favorite characters until it's done.

ReplyDeleteOh I'm not saying they were manipulated, it's just how the numbers came up (and pretty much the top 5 were expected anyway). I was actually thinking in future years (if this cup is continued) it could be themed. Different themes could bring up some different names and lead to different discussions. :)

I would love to see people add more topics like these instead of the "Who do you think Character X should end up with?" type ones. It might be fun for people to brainstorm the options here and then submit them. That could be a great way to discuss TV.

ReplyDeleteI am not surprised about Brenda because her show's off the air and not likely to be the first person people think of to nominate. I was shocked that Benson only got 2 nominations though. It's a strong female role and between the regular episodes and all those cable marathons, it's still very present as a show.

ReplyDeleteI think Defiance and Dominion have a lot of the same viewers within the demo. The total viewers are a little more different depending on the week. But yeah they are quite close.
ReplyDeleteNo one I nominated made the list so I'll be going for the other characters from the shows I nominated which is Olivia Dunham and tyrion although I don't think either will win. Based of the episode cup we just had I reckon either the mentalist or beauty and the beast characters will take it but I don't watch either of those. I'd be happy to see dean take it as well coz I do still love him despite all the terrible character writing this last two seasons for both the winchesters. I'm happy it's dean and not Castiel who made it through though, I'm so tired of that angel storyline.

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't underestimate Dean Winchester, this character just won TV Guides "Favorite TV Hero of all times". Jensen has tons of fans , and his Dean has many more fans then Supernatural itself. So it can reach the final. But I have to agree, most likely it will be between BaTB and Mentalist
ReplyDeleteHere is my wish list of wins. If I could pick one, it would still be Dean Winchester. I may have dropped Supernatural in season 8, but Dean is still my favorite character of all. I also think it would be fun if a classic show or a kick butt female warrior won. In other words, Buffy. Since my favorite female character of all time did not make the contest, she would do quite nicely.

the first round. A little sad to see that Will Graham did not make the list.
That would be pretty cool if Jack won given that he's big enough for a TV resurrection. Just to clear up the bracket though because I think a lot of people are going to be confused. In the semi-finals it will be the character from the top left against the bottom left and the character from the top right against the bottom right. So for yours, it would be Jack Bauer vs. Raymond Reddington and Ichabod Crane vs. Harold Finch in the semi-finals and whoever won those two polls would go against each other in the finals.

Still Supernatural has fallen a bit from grace on SpoilerTV. Add in that you can only vote once per IP and the polls are only 24 hours long, sihow with a bigger daily presence on STV are likely to take it, Dean's continued popularity notwithstanding.

ReplyDeleteHave to say that when we were doing the Best Show contest, I would always make sure to contact the premiere SPN fansites from Russia, Brazil, and India. First time we lost that contest, it started after I went back to school and I didn't get to connect with them like usual. Just saying. :-)

ReplyDeleteI tried about 382 times to get it all and I never could. It's frustrating. I've got you filled in now and ready for the prediction competition within the character contest. And yes, that is about as clear as mud. :-P
ReplyDeleteI love your evil laugh. All internet polls are silly bits of fun, but I did always enjoy playing armchair general to marshal the troops and see how many people we could make aware of the contest. It was a fun strategizing exercise. Sometimes social media rocks.

ReplyDeleteMe either, don't feel alone. I tend to have my core shows with a DVR full of "To watch later" and still some of these characters that win, I never hear of outside of Twitter. Thanks to Dahne, I have two must see shows on my DVR but I'm so late in getting to them, I'm going to wait for seasons end. Graceland and Dominion.
