  1. I'm kinda surprised they just took out Tara like that. There has to be more of her then just that. Other than that it was a pretty good premiere. Not great just pretty good.

The fact that there are those who voted this premiere as Awesome confounds me.

nope there are already sites out there with interviews with her that say that she is dead. But like you saw lettie mae, tara is there. In supernatural shows, dead doesnt always mean gone.

i voted "great" because there were several things i didnt like about the premiere. It was still a great episode overall.

That was the worst premiere so far. Weak writing & a hot mess, it was all over the place.

  6. Unless I missed something, we didn't actually see Tara die. All we saw was stringy, goopy dead vampire. Add to that we have Lettie Mae raving that she sees Tara and I'm thinking something is up. For some reason, I can see Tara killing the infected vampire she was fighting and then glamouring her mother into thinking she was dead only to come back and play a critical role in saving the day. By the way, what was up with the whistle sound followed by the infected vamps suddenly disappearing?

Sam, Sam, Sam (I say shaking my head). I would think the first person you would go to protect in the middle of a vamp attack would be your pregnant girlfriend. What was up with everyone in the town blaming Sookie in the bar and in the church scenes? She didn't bring the vampires to Bon Temps nor was she the first person to be intimately involved with vampires. So why is everyone blaming her for the current state of affairs? Why is Sookie saying she has played her part in what is happening? Alcide, you are an arse for adding your thoughts to the chorus of those who blame Sookie especially since you chose to be in a relationship with her. Why isn't anyone pointing out that it was Bill who played a critical part in the True Blood factories being destroyed? This lead to the artificial blood shortage and gave Burrell the opportunity to put the Hep V True Blood which is how the vamps got infected.

  7. Quite a bloodfest right off the bat, Having major characters die right away bode ill for the rest of the season.

  8. Tara will be back most likely as a ghost when Lafayette contacts her. Also wasn't there suppose to be flashbacks with Tara and Sookie.

  9. hmmm... I was on the fence between good and ok, but I decided to give it a good. although I'm not surprised that they killed off Tara, I'm surprised that the scene of her departure was rather lackluster (perhaps it was a way to save budget?). Didn't care too much for the mopey Sookie scenes as they really dragged the ep down for me and the anti-vamp vigilante group (who seemed to just show up at key places) felt kinda silly to me, but I did like Jason finally getting his balls back and Pam's search for Eric. not the best of starts for this final season for me but I'll hope that things pick up and I'll finish out this show since I've watched every ep thus far...

Anyone else still watching this show just because they've put in enough of a commitment that they just want a conclusion?

Anyway... I'm getting a little tried of Sookie overall and her speech at the end taking responsibility. How about simply reminding people: Not her fault. You can actually say Bon Temps would be off the map without her.

  11. Lol, this is the best "bad show" on TV. You really can't vote anything but awesome. If you aren't entertained then you probably should have stopped @ episode 1, lol.

  12. I voted good. Not a bad start persay. But wtf kinda ending was that??? That was weak, and i really just rolled my eyes through her whole speech. I don't believe Tara is dead, b/c i feel that Pam would've had a reaction. I mean i know she's looking for Erica, but still, SOMETHING would've set her off. I feel maybe they faked it, since we didn't actually see her die on screen. Idk maybe i'm wrong. Idec Tbh, i couldn't stand Tara, so if she really is dead, then my wish finally came true. However, i did feel real bad for Lafayette and Jason. (Sookie not so much). I didn't even feel sad for Lettie Mae, all i kept thinking was...ok why couldn't they kill you too?? Really not surprised that they killed Tara off, if they did indeed kill her that is.

I was nervous for Jessica, still am actually. And i'll be mega pissed if she hurts Andy's daughter. I feel for Andy, and i think he did good tonight. Also scared for Arlene and Holly.

Jason finally got his balls back. Good for him! I was tired of Violet pushing him around. I cracked up when Jason was yelling at her. His vent was hilarious b/c it was so true.

And lastly, my girl Pam...sigh, i feel for her. Was not liking the what's to come promo. She's starving, she's tired, she's hopeful, she's alone, and she's scared. This is going to be one emotional season i can feel it. Just wrap this series right, and i'll forget about the previous crappy seasons i had to endure to stay a true fan to this show. I need to see how it ends. God i really hope they don't disappoint. If they kill the 5 people i've wanted dead for the longest. i'll throw a freaking parade!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Ha! I feel the same about Tara. God, I hope they killed her off, but I doubt it. Maybe if we are lucky, she is absent the next 5 episodes.... (fingers crossed).

I´m sure Jessica will do good. She is not gonna make the same mistake again - the writers needs new stuff.

I don´t like jason with Violet. I love his character and feel like Violet takes the fun out of him.

I looove Pam and have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of her this season. Yay! Hope that Eric will join her soon though, they are more fun together.

  14. I thought it was pretty poor. Tara's death off camera, an idiotised Sookie, an emasculated Jason, pointless dialogues between Lafayette and whatever is his name, and Jessica and whatever is her name... and the list could go on and on.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I'm just wondering if maybe they are lying about that; to save for a big reveal later. I mean, we didn't see Pam reacting to it, and isn't she supposed to have been able to feel it if a progeny dies?

  16. I voted OK. I'm tired of looking at the vampire vs. humans issue. I thought this season was supposed to be about the two species needing each other. Now it looks like even Sookie might get involved with the anti-vampire brigade just to make the town like her again, which is weird because she never cared before what people thought of her. That was something I liked about her.

The politician riling everyone up about Sam is definitely overkill. His story is diminishing screen time for stories that are more interesting. Game of Thrones suffers from the same problem. There are too many things going on at once, so very little happens in each story in a one-hour episode. Showrunners kill off characters only so they can keep bringing in more characters. I swear it took me the entire episode of True Blood to figure out who Violet was because I kept thinking she was either Eric's sister or Willa. I'm still a little confused.

Tara's death didn't surprise me. I heard that there would be a shocking death in the first scene. Honestly, I thought someone was going to have to make Sookie a vampire. I've said this before, but the show doesn't do everything exactly like it happened in the books.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Thought it was an alright opener, but felt like we didn't get real far.

-In terms of Tara I don't know if I buy that she met the true death, (need to rewatch the fight scenes again), especially because there was no build up, no indication from Pam, and very little after thought such as characters (especially Sookie) reminiscing through flashbacks (which I swore I read spoilers that there were suppose to be Tara FB's sometime this season). At any rate I know in the next episode LM and Laffeyette try to contact her, so I'm assuming whether or not we still have Vampire Tara or Spirit Tara that there's still a story line left for the character. (If not that would be incredibly lame, but TW in an EW article says pretty much that she isn't "gone")

    -Like Jessica's scenes with Adylin!

-The recast for James is actually better, I think. But I think poor Laffeyette is going to get heart broken if he starts to fall for him (and I'm curious how a pacifist and existentialists will deal with spirits)

-Andy and Bill had some cool scenes too! That politiation who is against Sam needs to go!

    -Goodbye Kevin & Jane!

-Wonder if there's a reason the V-Hep Vamps are at Fangtasia or if this was suppose to be humerus coincidence...Looking forward to Arlene's upcoming plot though! Hope Holly and Nichole make it out of there.

-Did anyone get a good look at the map Pam received? Where and with whom do you think Eric would never go? I can only think of two possibilities 1. Sarah Newlin. 2. Warlow. or is there some place on the planet that he would never go! Hopefully by the end of the next episode, we'll know, especially since a certain someone appears in the synopsis for episode 3!!! XD

-V Hep Vamps are kind of scary!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yep, but considering she's already "dead". I'm not sure if it means too much. I didn't see RW says she meets the "true death" ;)

I think it probably will be spirit Tara, which I think makes sense given the promos and the fact that show and books have Protestant themes. I think given it's a the final season, we'll probably touch on a lot of things we have seen from previous seasons, with Fae blood and spirits being key factors.

    ReplyDelete
  19. In some respects I agree, we have seen this a little too much over the years, but on the other hand that is who Sookie is and since it is the final season, I think it's important that the series of events, that started in the first season, have to have an impact on who she is and that she has a responsibility and loyalty to help. But really, it was never Sookie's fault...It was Bill's and Sophie Anne's. This is about resolving things between Bill and her I think, because it all honesty, it's Bill that owes her and all of Bon Temps (I think this is what they were getting at with introducing more of his human flashbacks in this episode)

  20. " I'm tired of looking at the vampire vs. humans issue"

Well to be fair that's where the series started, but more over it is about vampires vrs human vrs diseased vampires and it puts a monkey wrench in any potential progress the vampires ever had,

    ReplyDelete
  21. It was alright.

I don't think Tara is dead. If she is, then I feel bad for Rutina Wesley. What a crappy way to exit the series.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Very weak premiere...all over the place!! Last season's premiere was a LOT better..and i don't think that Tara's is really dead..

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hahahaha hope Tara is gone for the next 5 episodes. If she's actually alive that is. And NO ONE had a reaction to this news. I mean the only one that really had a reaction was Jason and Jessica. Sookie damn near stayed quiet half the episode. And Lafayette, well himI cann understand, he's just numb. But her death was Soooo.....light. Like just swept under the rug once it was announced. And that's saying a lot.

Jessica really needs to not slip up. And the poor thing needs blood!! I need her to survive the whole season I'm gonna cry if she dies. Dude!!! I CAN'T STANDDD VIOLET!! Omg from the first time she was introduced, iI said who the F is this?? And can we kill her?? Seriously, i'm hoping Jessica takes her down and Jason cheers it on!

I want my Eric Back by episode 4. Pam i wanted to cry for her. I wanted to reach in the and just Give her my arm to feed on. Lol I can't wait for Eric and Pam to reunite. It'll be the best moment in the season i believe.

  24. 1. We don't know if Tara met the true death or not, and even if so, doesn't mean that she doesn't have a story line or is "gone".

    2. Sookie is true to Sookie here and the deal with Alcide in particular goes back to season one and why she never could date most people and ultimately that she and really, more so, Bill have unresolved story and an obligation to Bon Temps and the people they care about.

    3. Ever since season two, Jason's theme is to be emasculate and/or sexually and emotionally abused by woman for all of his mysogomy and ignorance he had bestowed on others before this time. Violet is a nice way to continue that theme, but also remind us of characters like Dawn and Amy. But at least we get to see that Violet was not really misusing him, as much as she just wanted him to FIGHT and Believe in himself. (other wise they never would done what they did at the end of the episode, which made Jason finally having sex again all the more meaningful)

4a. Not pointless. The series both novels and books have Protestant themes and subtext and so Vampires, Shifters, and humans all getting along and finding some kind of resolution is what the series is about. But if you look to things like Godric's death (also a pacifist) and spirits having power and/or unfinished business (Adale, Antonia, Jesus), then it's easy to see that True Blood is meant to have some kind of spiritual resolution and/or Protestant "acceptability" of others themes. Interestingly Jame has agreed to protect Laffeyette, which means he may have to be violent and also the fact that James claims the existentialism card (universe is not feeling and indifferent) also is a contradiction when in fact there are other realities, planes, and even spirits, suggesting God, collective conscience, and/or cosmic placement....and of all people James is with a medium!

4b.Jessica and Adyline--again spiritual themes about "redemption". Jessica is trying to atone and Adyline is trying to heal and forgive.

  25. Season 5 is the weakest season IMO, but on rewatches and watching it back to back, I found it is a decant "bridging" season leading us into the final 2 seasons in a good way...

True Blood is something that is a "summer treat" for me, because it's clearly satiric and comically gratuitous on many levels (so it basically makes fun of humanity most of the time), but that's not to say that there isn't a story underneath it, which has been building I think since the the beginning of the fourth season, where I think we really see characters take some forks in the road and start becoming different people in some respects.

I have read the entertainment weekly article, and yes she says she's "dead", but she didn't say her character met "the true death," meaning [to me] that "dead" coming from her doesn't mean very much when all vampires are already considered so on the series! (but I could see them doing something with her spirit, because the series has a metaphysical or spiritual underbelly, despite it's continual display of hypocrisy)...

I like Vampire Tara, but I too would like a more cohesive and meaningful story line for her one way or another, especially since she is Sookie's long term friend and because she's a character that has been here from the beginning.

I don't know why they made a lot of the cast regulars, but I suspect that is a bit of a ruse, because I can't imagine all of them making it to the end. (so some of them might just be series regulars to throw us off the trail of who lives and dies). Personally I like a lot of the newer characters and am looking forward to yet other new characters and the return of some familiar faces.

  26. I don't think she's dead either, but even if she is, I suspect that spirit Tara will still have a story and play a role. The teaser promos before the season started included a bunch of flash backs, but in particular one of them homed in on something Adele Stackhouse had said, 'God will show his purpose when the time is right'....between seeing how the spirits dealt with Marnie and how we have had to deal with Sarah Newlin, Lilith, and Warlow things, along with the demise of The Authority, I can only imagine the idea is for there to be some kind of spiritual significance to the series ending.

    ReplyDelete
  27. It felt weird tbh, i liked it, but tehre were somethings that just made it WTH?.. like the Pam looking for Eric on that place and Tra dying like that? i just hope her mom got all crazy and Tara isn really dead

    ReplyDelete
  28. tara was infected by her stupid mother so when somebody called the infected vamps she followed the calling.

    ReplyDelete
  29. It was really boring but I'll stick with it since it's the last season

    ReplyDelete
  30. You know, I was wondering if her mother feeding her would come into play but I didn't think about that. Not seeing Tara explode into goo has left me with doubt that she is dead.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I haven't liked Violet from the start either. I hope she dies since we need to get down to our main characters.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I voted awesome, only because it was far better than I was expecting it to be after the last 2 seasons.
