    Many diversions from the books, but nonetheless a wonderful episode!


    Interesting to see Brienne fight Sandor, and to a lesser extant lose Arya as well....
    It was a very different route than the books, but all the characters got to the same places... A nice twist.


    Stellar dialog free scene once again from Dinkalge
    The man is worth his weight in gold and a bargain at that!
    In the end Tywin Lannister did not shit gold....


    Not sure what to make of the undead warriors outside of Bloodraven's tree, but Mr. A-thousand-eyes-and-one was fun. Leaf throwign explosive fire was a bit over the top for me though. It felt like something out of an 80's Sinbad movie more than ASOIAF.


    The most interesting part of the episode to me is Varys joining Tyrion on the ship for what I assume will be Pentos and Illyrio Mopatis's mance! In the books Varys all but disappeared after helping Tyrion , but now perhaps we will get some Varys and Tyrion scenes next year!!!


    Honestly, it was not as powerful as expected for me personally, but it was a great episode.

    I liked it and voted awesome but damn,i knew i shouldn't have read the books....idk,most of the stuff that happened in the books,happened in the series and yet,the final episode seemed a little bit rushed to me.....but i still loved it!!

    Expected a lot more from what is arguably the best parts of aSoIF books. But a great episode none the less.

    Bye Tywin, you were enjoyable for your genius, but boy did I hate you for your cruelty. Still I'll miss Charles dance the mans a vet and I love his and Peter Dinklage together, no more tho (sob) :(

    Tyrion maybe a fugitive now but at least he's taken the only thing worth living for; freedom for the first time in his life to be his own man.

    Ok so I was really disappointed about not seeing Sansa.... She was in every season finally except for this one. I wished the writers paced her arc a bit more lengthy. As in have her confess in episode 8, but then we don't see her and Petyr discussing her confession and her transformation until the Season finale. Oh well, can't wait until the Season 5 trailers!!!!


    I didn't care for the Jon Snow scenes, even if I already know what happens with him in the books.
    The Daenaryus scene was heartbreaking though, why the hell would she lock her dragons up in the darkness 2 feet from each other? No wonder they do what they do later on....
    Tyrion vs. Shae was very interesting, it was a sad turn Shae took in this series/book. She was so likable throughout the seasons before the trial. Tyrion killing his father was okay, it didn't have impact like it did in the books.


    And for the highlight of this episode... Brienne vs. Sandor!!! Da faq that fight was amazing. I loved how before it Brienne said she wasn't a knight, but she fought nobly(?) and then when Sandor claimed he wasn't one either and started fighting dirty with her awww man she took it up to a whole new level. FAV CHARACTER THERE. Lastly I was hoping Podrick followed Arya, the weird adventures of Podrick and Arya would have been a hilarious mini-arc I bet xD

    What a phenomenal finale.

    Tywin got what was coming for him (and Shae!) and I am so glad that Tyrion was the one that pulled the trigger. He finally got his revenge!

    A nice surprise that Varys is joining Tyrion in escaping from King's Landing. Should be fun to see them team up(?) next season.

    All of the fight scenes tonight were incredible. Between Stannis and Davos charging into Mance Rayder's camp, Jojen, Meera, Bran, and Hodor fighting the white walkers, and the Brienne and The Hound fight, they were all just so well executed.

    Arya leaving behind The Hound to die was sad but it needed to be done. Another name off the list and Arya is headed to Braavos!

    I know I am in the minority but I am really interested in Bran's storyline next season now that he has met the Raven. Can't wait to see more of it.

    The wait for season 5 is going to be excruciating.

    People said the same about Coldhands. He had more page time that LS and he was cut.


    They have shown an ability to lose specific plot points but still arrive at the necessary point and place in the story. LS actions were almost all off page... If they wanted they could write her new scenes easily enough... Although I can see them just as easily going a different route eliminating the character.


    Season 5 and beyond will be so, so different from the books. I would not be shocked to get no LS, no Greyjoys brothers and who knows what other fan favorites could be cut.

    I think LS will probably be in the series, but without knowing her future role in the books I would not bet on it.


    I can see the character being a much bigger role in books 6 and 7 (and I think there will be a book 8), but I can also see her having only a handful more scenes in the books as well. However, my bigger point is even if LS is a big role in the books I'm not sure that translates to the series necessarily.


    I would never have bet on Brienne fighting Sandor before seeing a promo a week or two ago. In the end that somewhat major deviation from the books resulted in all the characters involved ending up right where they were in the books anyway.


    So much of the story will be tweaked or cut if they want to end in seven seasons. From this point on in the series there are very few things in the books I think are absolute locks to make the TV series. Even less of those will make it exactly as they were in the books. Changes are coming!

    Arya and Tyrion were both amazing.
    I knew it was gonna come but this is the first real time I'be had two characters I love fight to the death (Brienne and The Hound) I'm sure there will be many more dilemmas to come but I really didn't know who I wanted to win.
    I'm glad they thouched on Danny's problem with the dragons and I wonder where that story can go next. I hope they don't loose the connection though.
    And what's with the fire kids? Peter Pan died and now Bran found The Lost Children?
    I can see John with Stannis, maybe I can like the last real Baratheon if I get to see him interact with John.
    Also it was a pitty that I got the Tyrion scene spoiled but it still was an amazing finale, I'm glad this time they saved the big stuff for the final episode. I can't wait for next season, though I'll have to, maybe I'll get a few books in before that.

    True. What with Jogen dying and all. Not sure what to think of all the changes.
    And now I'm more sure LS will not be part of the series. The biggest pay off GRRM got of that storyline was the reveal of the character(so far at least). Now with half the internet talking about her absence, more and more people will actually find out who she is which works against her inclusion.
    And I really missed Varys's subtle involvement in what Tyrion did. Varys in books is so mysterious; I missed that in today's episode.

    Amazing finale, I love the fight between Brienne and the Hound, but the best part was Stannis arriving and the all Bran plot. The death Tywin was unexpected and Arya now in Bravos, cool.

    Very cool.


    -Finally, a Brienne ass kicking scene. Her fight with The Hound has to be one of my favorite scenes of this whole season.
    -So I'm guessing this is where Arya's story REALLY starts. Great way to end the season.
    -Loved the Tyrion/Tywin showdown. I figured Tywin brought Shae back... but I am now curious if she'd been keeping an eye on Tyrion for Tywin ever since the beginning.
    -Continuing on the Tyrion/Tywin scene... I am curious how much of what Tywin was saying was true that he would have saved Tyrion and how much of it was not wanting to get shot.
    -Varys continues to be the one character I can't fully grasp. He clearly has an agenda and does nothing without thinking like a chess master... but for what larger end?
    -Poor Jojen. Well done on the fight scene though... I kinda expected the sister to go all berserker after Jojen's death.
    -Knew Oberyn won that fight! Also, who's the creepy guy draining The Mountain's blood? Have we met him before?

    Great episode, but so many damn changes xD. Why Jojen had to die? Was that foreshadowing or something (not even some weirwood paste, come on). I am particularly happy with Tywin dying, and have been expecting it for a while. He was a great man. But as ruthless and cunning as he was short sighted and a fool (and people though Ned Stark was a fool). Now the war can get back in track,hurrah., with nobody left to keep everyone in line. Only an idiot would tread with the mighty Tywin Lannister, but I am guessing lots of people would see it as an opportunity to settle the score now that he's dead. And that's the basic difference between the patriarchs of the two main rival families. That's is why Eddard Stark will win even posthumously.

    Dany locking up her dragons actually made me mad, I know she does it in the books but it was still hard to watch. They trusted her so fully that they let themselves be led in there and chained up and then she just locks them in the dark like that. I hope they abandon her ass.... hey, Sansa could use some dragons! hehe, jk!

    That creepy guy is Qyburn.
    He's a Maester that had his chain taken from him for some very dark experiments he did.

    We have met him before yes. He's been in 5 or 6 episodes I think. Most notably though he helped Jaime heal after he lost his hand and then fit him for his golden hand.

    CD did a wonderful job with TL. Personally I never hated the dude on tv or in the books. But I gotta note that he's a seriously overrated character/player and people are giving him way too much credit. For the RW I have the feeling it was more or less Roose's doing. For everything else, lots and lots of luck. Took a lot of treachery and dumb luck to bring down the Young Wolf who never lost a battle up to the point he died.

    I'm surprised Tywin seemed to never believe the rumors of Cersei and Jaimie.... I mean come on now, just look at the kids, it's obvious that they didn't have a drop of Roberts blood in them. I wonder if that means in the show, Tywin was earnest when he was later telling Tyrion that he's his son and he wasn't going to have him executed because he now believed Cersei and Jaime had no hope of carrying on the family legacy. If only he didn't talk trash about Shae, he might still be alive. It would have been so priceless to see the look on Cersei's face if Tywin saved Tyrion from execution, lolol.

    Lmao Dany will get what's coming for her. Unfortunately she's gonna be the poster girl for what happens when someone has too much power, especially since she comes from the Targaryean line.
    Sansa? Dragons?? It wouldn't make sense but it'd be sick!! It's obvious G.R.R.M is setting up Sansa to be one of the survivors who rules all when the story is finished. Someone has to bring the Starks back up to nobility through political means ;)

    In the book after Jaime helps Tyrion escape, some stupid unnecessary exchange occurs that ends with Tyrion vowing to Jaime he will seek vengeance on him. Glad the writers of this show realized how inconsistent with character relations that was and cut it.

    Still don't understand why Jaime makes love to Cersei - they focused so much last season and early this season to make Jaime a man on a path of redemption and to honour. Instead he rapes his sister and in this episode he concedes to her love - didn 't happen in the book, not necessary in the show.

    All else in this episode was awesome. A new journey for so many characters makes this the best finale.

    Ned was loved and respected because of his fair ruling. Tywin on the other hand was despised and hated. Lots of people have a score to settle (like I said) with his him and his family as an extent. While people in the North still love the Starks, even though their house has been exiled and their male line (supposedly) perished. I can't post spoilers, but things will get very interesting in the next seasons.

    Idk about that. Tywin was shown to be obsessed with the family legacy, to the point where he would somewhat blackmail Tyrion's life with Jamie so that Jamie would rule Castleblack. It seemed Tywin was so ignorant with Cersei's confession that even if he believed it later on, he wouldn't do anything about it since it would leave the Lanisters with jack squat.

    I'm not so sure Tywin was overrated.
    The man single-handedly turned around his family fortunes from a very young age. On top of that he was Hand of the King to two kings.


    All that with three children who make everything harder for him than it should be! In every other family his first born son would be heir and of use in gaining even more power. Not so with Jaime. Cersei makes everything harder with her stupid mistakes and short-sighted behavior. Tyrion is an embarrassment (deserving or not) to House Lannister and the butt of jokes across the Seven Kingdoms. Lest we forget his grand-spawn Joffrey who was a spoiled brat of a sadist! XD

    I still blame Cersei for much of Tywin's downfall honestly. Her letting her crazy son behead Ned set things in motion and then she made one misstep after another causing him some major headaches. Jaime did not help much either honestly...


    Of course, part of it is on him as well though,. If he had accepted Tyrion and used him to hsi full potential things would be different.

    Tyrion could've been the one who should've succeed him. But he was too stubborn and a fool to accept him. I forgot to mention that as you know, if it wasn't for Tyrion repelling Stannis's forces in blackwater, and Lf securing an alliance with the Tyrells. the was would've been lost a lot sooner before coming up with the plan to get rid of Robb (still I believe that was more Roose than Tywin) who was being undermined and weakened at the same time from within. There were also some mistakes on Robb's part because of his honor, a trait Tywin didn't share.

    If you look at everything that happened, it took a lot of luck to end this war (which is far from over anyway). Sure, the man was capable and cunning, but extremely lucky as well and a bit overrated.

    Why Melisandre looked at Jon Snow like he was fresh meat? damn i dont trust that woman!
    The fight between The Hound and Brienne was awesome.
    Those children and Dumbledore under the tree, i still dont get that part but i just know bran will kick some a**,
    Vary's joining Tyrion was so funny i dont know but i laugh at that i totally see both of them having great escenes and plotting next season.

    I think that was my favourite GOT finale yet.

    x I loved the Brienne/Hound fight, not something we would ever get in the books but its good to see The Hound beaten by someone as good as Brienne. Also its a very cruel thing to have Brienne meet Arya, to get close to fulfilling some of her oath only for it to be snatched away. GOT loves messing with our emotions.

    x Loved the Bran stuff, that was awesome. Goodbye Jojen, a brave young man.

    x Did anyone else get emotional at the Breaker of Chains chaining up her children? Damn dragons aren't meant to make me cry.

    x Jaime and Tyrion, oh I am so glad they changed that scene and what a lovely goodbye. I am sad they kept Tyrion killing Shae but oh well I guess they want messed up guilt ridden Tyrion still.

    x Ahh Tywin no Happy Fathers Day for you, farewell you horrible cruel man.

    x I am surprised they are keeping the Mountain plotline hmm must be important for future books.

    x Shit Stannis army coming was so cool. Jon burning Ygritte was really sad I think that got to me more than when she died.

    x Arya's story really starts next season, this is going to be really good. Loved her final scene with the Hound.

    Oh the subject of things which didn't happen:

    I kind of knew LS wouldn't happen, and already I am seeing people complain about it but I think its going to come at an unexpected moment next season and links in with the availability of some of the actors going forward. I do think it will happen just because it is an important moment for Brienne but seeing how we still don't know how it gets concluded in the books I think it may be something that is ultimately wrapped up in S6 - because god willing the 6th book should be out next year. Patience my dears.

    That was a great episode and a season finale. I'm torn between loving the kills and hating the kills on this show! That fight between Brienne and The Hound was amazing and was the highlight of the episode alongside with Tyrion kills his father.

It will be interesting to see what happens with them all next year since we are in somewhat unknown territory with this lot...

    I always look at episode 10, as if it were episode 0 of the next season, because I think it just sets everything up with some minor resolution, more than it escalates and leaves a dramatic cliffhanger, but I do think this episode could of benefited if it would have been 15 mins longer.

    I know what you mean! As much as I think Tywin deserved it, he just had great screen presence and for all of his 'cruel to be kind' like policy, there were a lot of times where he said things that made a lot sense, which is just something I like about the Lannisters in general--they're mostly (say for Lancel) well worded!

I think Cersei and Tywin have a great deal in common in terms of their own delusional world viewpoints, except that militarily and politically, Tywin obviously holds true to his own weight, but I do think that Cersei loves her kids more than he ever did and that the struggle between them all (Tywin, Jaime, Cersei, Tyrion) just represents another philosophical debate about 'love and duty' again, when one lives in this kind of reality...


    I fear for Cersei's life, especially when one considers how many people on Arya's list tends to die...

    Like always the finale feels like the beginnings of the next season, but it had lots of stuff I loved


    -Bran, Meera, Hodor, (and almost) Jojeen finally met the three-eyed raven and some of the children of the forest! (and they looked good on screen). Some of my favorite mythos!
    -Really enjoyed watching Meera fight!
    -Interesting change to have Brienne be the one to confront and fight The Hound, but it makes sense to cut the middle man here! Really fun to watch those two fight!!! -And interesting change for The Hound to try and get Arya and kill him, instead of it being the other way around! XD
    -Arya is going to Braavos!!! :D
    - Finally, Goodbye Shea and Tywin Lannister. (Maybe Joffery had some Uncle Tyrion in him after all)
    -Glad Cersei happened to outcast her father in the same episode, but too bad she still can't get over Tyrion. I liked that she told her father the truth and that she made good points about protecting Tumon, even if she still has "queenly" motivations behind it, I know she cares for her kids.
    -Wish we would have spent a little more time with Stannis' army at the wall, but I'm looking forward to those next bits!.(Fun to see the Light Priestess at the wall!)
    -Goodbye Ygritte for real! Glad Jon snow did as Mance asked. We got short changed with there stuff this season, but I think we will see more of them next season...
    -Lord Varys (and Jamie) to the rescue!! Off to Essos with you!
    -Felt bad for Dany a bit here. For all of her wrongs, I know she can feel the pain of her dragons and the more obvious debate over repression of perhaps more than human goes on...
    -No Sansa. No lady Stoneheart.....

    Even though I totally agree that Ned is one of best and morally correct characters, I still think there is an element of Karma and/or reciprocity when we see him kill Gared...

    Do you mean the night's watch ranger he killed in the pilot/prologue? The guy was a deserter (even though his warnings were valid), he had to die. But I kinda agree with his death being somewhat based on bad Karma. He killed lady, and those wolfs were sent for a reason by someone to the Starks. I just meant about Ned that even though he was judged as weak and a fool by many viewers/readers, his honorable and moral acts while he was alive sometime it'll pay off. As opposed to Tywin, who was excessively cruel even when it wasn't necessary. At the end of the day, even in place such as Westeros (where everyone does what's necessary to survive and get above), is better to be loved and respected, rather than feared and loathed. You know what I am talking about.



    Next season, and as we get closer catching up with the books, I have a feeling there will be many more changes. It'll be a completely unknown territory like you said with many characters and plot-lines. Personally, I didn't see Jojen's death coming. But I've read some theories about the weirwood past they gave to Bran (people think it was made of Jojen). Though, that would mean Bloodraven and the children are on the other side, and somehow I don't think that's plausible. Either way, we can't be certain of his fate. Was his death suppose to mean something, or just getting rid of some not very important characters.

True or false, Dany will go bananas (more than usual) when she hears another Targ has made the landing like Aegon the Conqueror. I am all up for stuff like happening to her. Read somewhere recently the guy who plays Theon said that Jon's parentage involve a bit of luke Skywalker situation according to GRRM when he asked him. I may be completely ignorant when it comes to Star wars, but I can extrapolate where this is going. The supposed bad guy turns out to be the father of the hero. I know it's a bit of a cliche, but personally I don't really mind.

    In the books one could really compare the next generation of rulers against one another since they all came into power at the same time vaguely....


    Cersei becomes Queen Regent, Dany takes Meereen and stays to rule, and Jon becomes a leader in the Night's Watch. Their ruling styles are all so different, but each makes mistakes unique to their character. I found that compare/ contrast dynamic amazing to read personally. Especially when you read AFFC and ADWD as one book in chronological order.

    Everyone prefers different things so I can see you not enjoying certain aspects I do. ...
    (I personally love the non-linear approach to the saga, lack of defined High Fantasy stereotypes and defined roles, huge cast of characters, and all the sub-plots.), but I disagree completely with a couple of your points...

    Re: Stannis's arrival
    I thought the one-sided battle was fairly plausible IMO....
    The Wildlings have never fought trained heavy cavalry. The mounted knights would just slaughter them until they broke ranks and ran off - Much like it was in the episode. Plus, I thought we got more of a battle than I expected honestly. The show has not had a habit of doing multiple huge epic battles and we already had one in Episode 4x09.

    Re: Leaf's appearance
    The show has avoided every non-human trait like purple eyes, green hued skin or blue hair etc... Not sure what you expected honestly, but I thought Leaf looked almost exactly how the books described her!

    She is supposed to look like a small child with twigs and branches in her hair. The only traits to point to something more are dappled brown skin(which would not even show with dirty skin etc) and eyes that have vertical pupils like a cat. Removing those traits was to be expected, but after that everything else was exactly as described I felt.

    They sure haven't been subtle with Bran's possible future involving warging with a large dragon this season have they. The person I watch the show with and I have been discussing the issue for the last couple for months more ever since we saw him flying with what looked like a dragon shadow beneath him in a dream in episode 2/3 (I forget which). It's the only way I can see the dragons doing what they are told at present, Dany has no idea how to train them properly, lol.

    th show leaf looked just like a regular human child, but just dirty and messy looking...She is not of human race! What about her big ears and claws, there are several features that make children of the forest different from humans. Nobody would mistake a child of the forest for a human.


    I didnt write the battle itself was not credible etc. It was just a minute or two and it ended! We didnt even see Mance's army, just a bunch of morons in the woods.

    We pictured them very differently..
    I always saw them as looking quite human,

    People called them Children of the Forest because they looked like human children at first glance. Once you looked closer you saw the differences like the eyes, the 3 fingers with claws, the vertical pupils, the skin tones etc.

    As far as the ears go, I don't recall them being described as anything but "big".... Not inhumanly large and upright like a Desert Fox or hanging down like a Basset Hound. Simply big ears would not necessarily stick out beyond hair and twigs etc.

    Regardless though...
    I would not expect a new character to be drastically different than every that came before.The show changes all the psychical descriptions and tones them down from High Fantasy to more realistic features. Eyes, hair, noses, beards... all features have been toned down and dialed back. Even the Others/ White Walkers are more realistic. They are less "other-wordly", their armor is not reflective and their swords are not see through and thin as crystal etc.



    We just expected different things I guess...
    I never expected to see 100,000 warriors on the screen or another long battle. After the entire previous episode being devoted to the Wall I was surprised we got as much time spent on the armies of Mance and Stannis as we did.

Well I still think we can debate what honor and justice are in GOT's universe and even though I completely agree that Ned is one of the most honorable, I still think he had flaws and did some questionable things, including jeopardizing his family for the sake of knowing the truth, which tragically wasn't the whole truth anyways...

    They are The Children of the Forest, a magical humanoid-like people who were here before The First Men....

    Actually if you meant literally Peter Pan, Jojen Reed is played by Thomas Sangster from films like Nanny McFee and Love, Actually, Nowhere Man, and Triston and Isode...Robbie Kay played Peter Pan on OUAT - he had a small role in Pirates of the Caribbean: OST. But I can see the resemblance.

    'Varys' scene was kinda heartbreaking for me, ou could see in his face he stood no chance of comming back in the middle of the mess Tyrion had made without loosing his head so he sailed too even though I don't think there's a better place for him than Kingslanding. I'll love to see them interact next season though."

    It's been so long that I wasn't sure you meant him. Took me a while to remember him :D... Definitely, he's not perfect in any case, but in a place such as Westeros, he is probably the best you can get. While he might have done many questionable things we are not aware off, executing a deserter wasn't one of them. That's the law, and he was ever dutiful. He did place his family in danger. but still the whole thing went sideways because of Sansa. He actually had thought things trough and had come up with a plan. He probably would've been branded traitor and lost his head all the same. but things would've been much simpler in regards to the war that took place after his death. I still believe (there's plenty of evidence for me to assume) that his honorable ways and fair ruling will sometime pay off. Anyone can argue he was a fool, but in reality he was just too honorable and hated taking part or being involved in political machinations. His honor it's the legacy he left behind, and at the end of the end of the day, it may well be what saves his family. Same way Robb was. Honor for his enemies, and the woman he found comfort after the death of his brothers. Plus, Theon, and that snake Roose Bolton and the ancient rivalry between the Starks and them.

    I started writing a few things about Tywin, but it got so long xD. There are very interesting stuff online about him and why many people consider him overrated if you care about it. In short, he was brutal and ruthless before he married Joanna. Sure, her death might have caused things to turn differently. Look at what he's left behind him and what the repercussions of his actions could be. He doomed the very same he was fighting for to preserve and it's no wonder really considering despite being a great politician and a cold hearted opportunist, he's also a very short-sighted man who couldn't see beyond his nose. Even if his later years (by medieval standards he was already too old), he was as cruel and a **** as when he was young and had completely obliterated 2 houses for rebelling against his house. Same situation with the Greyjoy rebellion and how Robert and Ned showed mercy. I am sorry, but they couldn't get any stronger than they were and how they grew up, or independent for that matter from him. I don't even think he cared about anyone besides his ego. It''s wrong to judge the horrible ways he raised his children by our standards. He loathed Tyrion for being a dwarf, how could Cersei who was striving to be daddy's little girl do any different. It's such a great irony considering their relation and the fact that Tyrion was the one who was more like him, and in the end he was also the one responsible for House Lannister come crushing down. Those small twists of fate, huh?

    It's a very dark theory, one that I wouldn't like turning true. Bloodraven was a good man despite his sinister reputation, and the children fought at the side of men in the battle for the dawn. Somehow I don't think they would just turn sides only to serve the other and whoever they truly follow. Though. Jojen serves his purpose, and I can totally see him dying early in WOW. We''ll know soon enough, I reckon within the next year (finger crossed).

    Right, but my point was more about if this law IS justice or not, when one considers that the truth behind the white walkers might be more important than political conspiracies, as the White Walkers are like a large force of nature and when so many in the Knights Watch most likely did not anticipate dealing with that...It goes along with Bannister's plea to Dany that she should consider "mercy" rather than reciprocity...There's a debate IMO about what justice really is IMO in relation to human purpose and I think it's no coincidence that Ned takes a head and looses his...


    I don't find Tywin overrated, but will read the article anyways just to see some good points made! XD


    I think like so many of the characters there is both good an bad to him and when it came to his siblings, especially his sister, he seems like he did loving things. I think it's a bit strange that we get info about that (in the books), but yet we see him so disregarding of his own children (In the TV show he seems more so in regards to all of them and not just Tyrion)--it's like he associates them with his father. I think despite his luck, he did work really hard to restore the family name and to some degree, I'm not sure if Tyrion, Jaime, and Cersei really know what it would of been like for them, if he didn't work so hard to change the families former reputation (they're more privileged than Dany for instance)--it's just Tywin didn't really didn't pay attention to them in an affectionate way. With Tywin all I can say that there is courage behind his convictions.

    It was late and I was afraid it wouldn't make much sense (more than usual xD). Can't help it but answering. Though I'll try and be brief lol.

    He could've have gone back to Castle black and warn them about the
    impending doom. Instead he fled North and lost his head because/for
    that, figuratively and literally. Death was the penalty for abandoning
    his post, and law is more than just law in the North. Killing quickly
    according to the customs of the North, was the only mercy Ned Stark as
    the warden of the North could give him. The others were no more than
    mythical creatures up to that point, and many believed only reason
    anyone mentioned them, was to scare the children. Ned loosing his head
    was the price for his foolishness. Still, I don't see the connection you see, since they are very different situations.

    You should check out the Ice&Fire forums (it's been a long time, so it might require a more specific search about him being overrated). Even someone who's a very stubborn person, will definitely see things in a different light. These people are in a whole different level. Anyway, despite his efforts, both of his most notable accomplishments were performed with a huge advantage on his side. Going as far to to completely crush the Reynes and the Tarbecks, effectively exterminating them, was unnecessary brutal. As for the sacking, he did wait till the last time when the battle had been decided and took the city with treachery, and then again went too far to show his loyalty. A brilliant politician and a very cunning person who knew how to exploit situations to his advantage, but people are giving me way to much credit for the war of the 5 kings. Certain events unfolded in his favor, thanks to other people's doing and dumb luck, which he exploited since that was greater strength.

    Not touching the next part about the relation with his children, and the way they were raised. It'll be too long. I'll just say that for how much he was obsessed with his legacy and leaving his mark on the world, he ultimately failed. Look at the mess he's left behind, and tell me if he is the genius everyone seems to think he was. Quite the opposite I'd say. I can predict what's gonna happen, but what I know is that even though the Lannisters (seemingly won the war) are weaker than even. With more enemies than ever and nobody to manage/change the outcome of the events which probably will take place in the future. In the end he worked too hard to up his house and gain so much influence/power, and all was for nothing. Even House Stark which is exiled and lost the war (not really. The war is pretty much still on. Just being fought trough different means) have more genuine loyalty and is most likely to prevail (when/if the real war is all and done). And that attributes to Ned Stark's character primarily, not just the great injustice that's been done with dirty and dishonorable means to his House.

    - Great idea to have Brienne fight The Hound. The cold look on Arya´s face almost scares me. She has changed so much and I have enjoyed her scenes with the Hound. Sad that those days are over....glad Bravoos is coming. :-)


    - Leaf looked great. Sad to say that I´m not gonna miss Jojen. Help me out, It´s been a while since I read the books. I thought it wasn´t till later that Bran arrived, aren´t they a bit ahead with his storyline?


    - I had hoped for way more scenes with Varys (one of my favorites), but with so many characters we can´t all get what we want. Tyrion was fantastic, as was Jaime and Tywin (though I don´t understand why whey are still pushing for Cersei and Jaime).

    I thought the same thing about Jaime and Cersei. I have no idea why they keep it going, it seems so strange and doesn´t seem right for Jaime´s storyline.

    Yes, Jojen did die later, but they said in one of the supplemental videos that they felt the skeletal wights were too big a threat to not lose someone. So killing Jojen then made sense to them.


    They are really pushing the Jaime Lannister kinLayer angle aren't they?

    Yes they are. Jaime is still likable, but I really want to see him push Cersei away.

    I remember Jojen dying later, but didn´t Bran also meet The Children of the Forest later? Was is at the same time as Stannis arrival at the wall? I don´t remember it that way, but it´s been a while.

    It will be interesting to see what they will do. I don´t mind Bran´s POV, but there are some other interesting things coming up, so if Bran doesn´t get so many scenes next season it´s not gonna bother me.
    I know you are not a fan of Bran, so I´m guessing you are hoping that he doesn´t show up till half way through the season. :-)

    Ya.... I'm not a huge fan, but more than that .... . I just did not think his book arcs demanded a lot of screen time and did not want to see a lot of time devoted to his rather limited arcs.

    Now I am done with Jojen, and that is a very good thing!
    If Meera takes a back seat as well all the better!

    At this point of the story I am intrigued by what happens next though!
    The connection with Bloodraven, the Weirwood Trees, and the visions are very interesting to me.



    I do have some doubts that they will get into Bloodraven's history as much as the books though. I'm not sure the importance of him being a Great Bastard is very important to the show's narrative like it is in the books.

    Yep, Jojen dying was a good thing for me too. And I agree, less Meera would also be for the better. I like some things about Bran´s storyarc and thought it was a shame that we didn´t get CH. I look forward to the visions and hope they will be much like in the books.
    I think I might have to read the last two books again, I´m getting things messed up. :-/

    Wait, what? When did Jojen die and I didn't notice. Last we heard of him, he was depressed being stuck in the cave and because of his greendreams in which he saw himself dying. Unless you're talking about the theories about the him becoming the paste Bran ate xD.

    He has not officially died yet, but it is a foregone conclusion he will die soon if he is not dead already (the Weirwood paste).

    Sorry for dragging you back into this :D...I just saw it and kinda wondered if it happened and I've missed it somehow. Would be bad if the paste theory turns out to be true. Perhaps he was depressed because he felt something in the cave was off and shady.. Though I don't think that's very probable.

    Well he had that disturbing Greendream and wanted to go back home....


    Not sure if he saw himself being consumed and wanted to avoid being consumed, he saw his death back at Greywatch Tower, or he saw something terrible and just wanted to be at home when it all went down.


    I always felt like he saw himself dying at the 3-Eyed Crow and once there he realized his exact ending and did not like it.


    No real clue though honestly...
    All of Jojen's dreams have been fairly vague and cryptic.

    I don't know what's worse. BD and TCOTF being evil, or something bad happening to GW, which would seriously jeopardize any chance we have of meeting HR.

    Mellisandre saw BD and Bran in her fires and perceived them as agents of the enemy. But I just thought it's just another case of her reading everything wrong. Never really took it as a sign considering what we know about him and the children.

    Jojen's future is quite ominous all right. But if he is to die (which I don't particularly mind), I really hope it's not the hands of BR and the children. They're not suppose to be on the other side.

    Hopefully we'll find out this year before next season airs.
