Dascha Polanco has been promoted to a series regular for season three of Netflx/Lionsgate’s Orange is the New Black. Polanco, repped by Gersh and Shirley Grant Management, has appeared in virtually every episode of the hit dramedy’s first two seasons playing ‘jailbird sweetheart’ Dayanara Diaz. She can be seen in the upcoming Adam Sandler dramedy, The Cobbler.

  1. Great news, guessing she will have the baby next season and the fall out from that should be interesting yet sad

  2. Hopefull she will have the baby and that storyline can hurry up and end. It's not a bad storyline, but it is the weakest in my opinion. But still, she was my favourite character back at the start of season one and I'm happy that we will see more of her.

  3. Hope the 3rd season is better than the second. The first season was great.

  4. Yea I really enjoyed her early on but the story got so repetitive and dragged on that I began to lose interest. Should be exciting to see what happens with the baby once she gives birth though, but I guess with Piper's sentence at 15 months they sort of need to slow that stuff down. I'd like to see some more backstory on Daya's mom

  5. Sam Riley also upped to regular if anyone didn't know yet.

  7. What was wrong with the second one?

  8. Good.
I only hope they'll make her interact more with the other characters. She's kind of "stuck" in the Bennett/baby storyline and I think it would be great to see more of her character apart from that.

  9. Too much about a the other prisoners and not enough about Piper. I just wasn't interested.

  10. I really like her. I hoped she would clash a bit more with her mom in S2. Doubt she will et her baby by end of next season time is passing to slow in prison.

The real Piper went on to work within the system, she serves on the board of the Women's Prison Association. I assume that in future seasons after her sentence is done that they will follow a similar path with the show character. That was definitely the direction they were taking her in in S2.

I agree, i binge watched the whole season in one day & kept wondering when the Piper stuff was going to happen. They spent way too much screen time on V & Taystee. I also didn't enjoy S2 as much because it went way too dark with very little comedic relief, I missed the quirky weirdness of all the characters, they were all angry & aggressive this season.

  15. I liked the little asian girl, Brook, I think. Some of the others are interesting characters but I'm not interested in their back stories. Didn't really like Vee. Got a little confusing for me with some of the flash backs.

  16. Most of the actresses who get 'upped to regular' status on this show I assume are already regulars. This is no exception.

  17. Yael Stone as Lorna Morello next please.
