Once Upon A Time - Season 4 - Other Frozen characters being cast

7 Jun 2014

TVLine has learned that casting is now underway for the aforementioned conflicted ice queen — who was glimpsed (and played by a stand-in) at the close of Season 3 — as well as her sister Anna and ice merchant Kristoff. Elsa will appear in approximately nine episodes, the others a bit less. (Hey, maybe Kristoff runs Henry’s favorite ice cream shoppe?)

  1. Please include Olaf at some point too. And yay! I love Anna and Kristoff too.

  2. Not entirely sure how they're going to include a living snowman.

  3. (Bad) CGI.

  4. Still hoping for Kristen Bell. She would be great as Anna!! As for Elsa, I'd recommend Elizabeth Mitchell! Kristoff, hmm, I really don't know.

  5. Yes! I am so here for Elizabeth Mitchell as Elsa.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Me too Elizabeth Mitchell would be perfect.

  7. This is going to be terrible. Staying 'true' to the Frozen movie will give them maybe one episode of material, if they stretch it out like they did Neverland, it might be their worst arc yet.

  8. It would be nice to have a villain that lasts longer than half a season. Cora made a better adversary than Peter Pan and Zelena combined.

  9. Are we sure that Anna won't in fact be Ana(stasia)?!

    ReplyDelete
  10. OLAF!!! What about OLAF???

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yes-OLAF!!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. What??? with all the "NO WAY" stuff that happens on OUAT, why should OLAF be a problem???

    ReplyDelete
  13. So far they're not casting a villain.

    ReplyDelete
  14. It'd be funny that she only mentioned stepsisters then. But it's the kind of shoddy writing that OUAT is known for so it'd wouldn't be a surprise.

  15. Elsa-Clair Holt/Blake Lively
    Anna- Alexis Blendel
    Kristoff- Michael Ealy

  16. I recommend Elizabeth Mitchell as Elsa
Kristen Bell as Anna if they can't get them my other recommend is Sarah Michelle Gellar as Allison Scagliotti as Anna Matt Lantar as Kristof or Aaron Ashmore

  17. Olaf will probably get a green screen 3D version and just a voice over.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm still hoping Anna will be Ana-stasia (Emma Rigby),because I can't imagine bringing Will Scarlet/The Knave of Hearts in without some connection to the Winter/Russian myth stuff, since Frozen seems to be the highlight of at least the first half of the season (But I like your cast list)

  19. As I said, cast Idina and do a musical episode. PLEASE. I know it won't happen, it's just wishful thinking...

    ReplyDelete
  20. I want Kristen Bell as Elsa.

  21. A musical episode featuring Disney songs would be wonderful. Most of the cast can sing anyway. They could bring back JoAnna Garcia for "Part of Your World". :3 And it's not like it wouldn't be feasible either. Buffy did a musical episode because someone cast a singing-and-dancing curse on the characters. Why can't some magical baddie do the same on OUaT? Make the singing golden harp or the real pied piper (the one seen in Henry's book, not Pan) cast a singing curse on the people of Storybrooke that gets them belting out "Wish Upon a Star" or "A Whole New World"... or "Let It Go". :P

That being said, Idina as Elsa... Hmm, can't see it. At all. I think Kristen Bell should be Elsa. :P

  22. For anyone who watched the spin-off, I think we can agree on something: the White Rabbit looked GREAT. OUaT CGI is usually crappy, but for The White Rabbit and Jiminy Cricket, two animated characters voiced by regular actors, they did a fine job. So I really think it's high time for more characters that could seem impossible because they're not human to be brought in. Olaf would be a nice start. And if they finish the series without doing their own spin on Puss in Boots, one of the BIGGEST fairytale characters ever, I will be sore. Three Little Pigs might be a bit much though... :P

  23. Well, reading those casting calls was... like a sick joke. It annoys me greatly the way they are doing the Snow/Ice Queen storyline. I knew it'd be Elsa, the character from "Frozen", and I was fine with that, so long as they also honored the original story in some way. I expected to see Anna as well, which I was fine with. But now Kristoff...? And his fricking reindeer?! And the way they made those casting calls humorous, ugh... OUaT is not a comedy, please don't.

  24. However, I am now HIGHLY adept of the "Sarah Michelle Gellar for Elsa" trend and have already hit up Adam Horowitz, Jane Espenson and Sarah herself with tweets promoting that. I would advise you guys to do the same. :)

  25. I think the Film story will be handled as a backstory to Elsa maybe ep 3 or 4, with some interesting twist. And that the rest of the flashbacks will revolve around her interacting with Rumple, maybe Cora and others. The reason she was trapped in Rumple's cellar etc etc. I'm not a huge fan of the movie but I'm interested how this will play off with the Knave's story.

    ReplyDelete
  26. That can't be since Kristen Bell voiced Anna in the movie...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Not really true. 11-episode arc villain is enough for me. Less filler episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Elizabeth Mitchell for Elsa would be amazing. She is so talented.

    isn't she too old ??

    ReplyDelete
  30. They Did Good With Pinokio.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yeah. I recently watched a movie with her. Really miss her perky adtitude, think she is quite fitting for Ana.

  32. As much as I love Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elizabeth Mitchell I don't think ABC is looking to cast a 37 / 44 year old in these roles I sad to say.

    I like to see

Jane ( Tess Altman - Suburgatory ) Levy,
Mary ( Lacey Fleming - Body pof Proof ) Mouser,

Kay ( Daphne Powell - No Ordinary Family ) Panabaker,

Taissa ( Viloet / Zoe - American Horror Story ) Farmiga,

    or

Evangeline ( Kate Austen - Lost ) Lilly

    to play Anna

    and

    Arielle ( Lexie - TVD ) Kebbel,

Claire ( Rebekah Mikaelson ) Holt,

Maggie ( Shannon Rutherford - Lost ) Grace

Rebecca ( Alexis Meade - Ugly Betty ) Romijn

    KaDee ( Charlotte King-Freedman - Private Practice ) Strickland

    or

    Chyler ( Lexie Grey - Grey's Anatomy ) Leigh
    to play Elsa.

  33. Probably awkwardly, since they still haven't answered why Wonderland and Oz were frozen with the curse as well.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Kristen Bell looks more like Elsa.

  35. Victoria Llanos7 June 2014 at 18:21

I really like your idea of Alexis Bledel as Anna, and kinda wish Kristin Bell could play Elsa and I have no idea who Kristoff cooyld be... I just don't see anyone playing him...

  36. Victoria Llanos7 June 2014 at 18:23

I always picture her as one of the evil stepsisters, but it could work I guess...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Victoria Llanos7 June 2014 at 18:25

Agreed! she would make a great Elsa!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I hope Zelena comes back. She was a rather underwhelming villain.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Diana Agron for the rol of Elsa!!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm not really digging half season arcs, it's just not the kind of narrative I expect from a show with multiple seasons. I feel like they expanded the universe of the show so much that they don't know what to do with it anymore. They have created too many dots and now they're struggling to connect them in a manner that feels organic. The worst part is they keep making these new foundations instead of continuing to build on the ones that already exist.

The show lacks an overarching mystery, a sense of danger and urgency. The closest thing they have to something like this is Rumple being in posession of the dagger. Right now, it is one random villain after another. It kind of sucks all the fun away knowing that the villain will most likely be gone after a dozen of episodes.

I want an actual villain and not some misunderstood family member who is holding a grudge.

    ReplyDelete
  41. "For once, I want an actual villain and not some misunderstood family member who is holding a grudge."

That's kinda one of their whole themes...? "Evil isn't born, it's made."

    ReplyDelete
  42. Evil being made doesn't mean that every villain has to be related a main character, plotting their revenge for somewhat petty reasons. I want someone like Rumple, someone powerful and ruthless who isn't defeated by a simple blast.

    ReplyDelete
  43. True that, but she voiced Anna.. Or they could pull a Once Upon A Time twist... Rapunzel was black, so anything is possible. Anyway. Elizabeth Mitchell and Kristen Bell looks like they could be sisters. So.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Nah think Maggie Grace would do a great job as Elsa.

    ReplyDelete
  45. It was implied, but still a theory. I don't recall it ever being confirmed...I just think since she's also named for another Russian legend, and that Michael Socha is for sure coming on board the mother ship, that it only seems fitting that Anastasia's actual Enchanted Forest story be revealed (and seems ideal for this)...

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm still shocked they are doing a Frozen arc on the show. I know Fairy Tales are kids stuff but the show always felt more suited for adults to me, so why incorporate the new kiddie fad cartoon? I'm confused.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Victoria Llanos8 June 2014 at 02:19

But how would the evil mother that came after her when she was about to escape with Will work into the story then?

    ReplyDelete
  48. They have to put Olaf and bring the guy that did his voice and btw Olaf doesnt need to be a Snowman he can be a regular person o/ they are not in Magic land anymore

    ReplyDelete
  49. The same way they include a cricket? In Storybrooke everyone becomes human.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Well at least he'll be able to experience heat without melting now.

  51. Noneofyourbusiness8 June 2014 at 13:06

I think Sarah Michelle Gellar has the right look and acting chops to play Elsa.

    ReplyDelete
  52. They could do it like she was adopted/stolen too, because "Anastasia" should in theory also not be with her real family, as woman we saw that playing her mother/step mother seemed poor or middle class, wanting Ana to have best chance at succeeding, as this woman has commonalities with Cora as well, which IMO is why the wonderland story was important.

    ReplyDelete
  53. If not, Elizabeth Mitchell would make a great Cruella deVil!

    ReplyDelete
  54. What makes you say Oz and Wonderland were frozen with the curse? I don't think they were. If you're referring to Mad Hatter and Knaves being in Storybrooke, they probably ended up in the Enchanted Forest somehow before hand.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Elsa will be perceived as a villain for the most part, but she'll probably end up good by the end.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think Maleficent will be the big villain in the end, especially since she's been with us since the start.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'd like Claire Holt as Elsa ^-^

    ReplyDelete
  58. There are way too many dream casting options for Elsa. Kristen Bell, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Elizabeth Mitchell, Maggie Grace, Dianna Agron, Elisha Cuthbert, any single one of those would make me very, very happy. I just really hope it's someone I know and like already. As much as I sympathize with newcomers getting their first big break, and as much as I've come to like the actors joining the cast of whom I'd never heard before (Colin O'Donoghue, Sarah Bolger, Sonequa Martin-Green...), I want an established star to be Elsa. I was SOOOO happy when JoAnna Garcia got to be Ariel, she was my #1 choice.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I want Teri Hatcher as Cruella, I bet she'd be great. :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Not really though. If it's that she's ~misunderstood~ that's not Big Bad material. At all.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Otherwise how did Ana and everyone in Wonderland stay exactly the same age? How did everyone in Oz stay exactly the same age? The writers really aren't big thinkers with the way the curse worked.
