Mark Pellegrino will play Jack in The Returned.
Céline Sallette plays Julie in Les revenants.
Sandrine Holt will play Julie in The Returned.
Alix Poisson plays Laure in Les revenants.
Agnes Bruckner will play "the sheriff's chief deputy" in The Returned.
Samir Guesmi plays Thomas in Les revenants.
Kevin Alejandro will play Tommy in The Returned.
Clotilde Hesme plays Adèle in Les revenants.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead will play Rowan in The Returned.
Pierre Perrier plays Simon in Les revenants.
Mat Vairo will play Simon in The Returned.
Jean-François Sivadier plays Pierre in Les revenants.
Jeremy Sisto will play Peter in The Returned.
It seems likely that the actors playing the roles of Claire and Victor in the US version will be announced soon, I'll update this thread accordingly.
Furthermore, they still have to cast three main characters who are for the most part disconnected from the others in season 1 : Serge (Guillaume Gouix), Toni (Grégory Gadebois) and Lucy Clarsen (Ana Girardot). I'm mentioning that they're mostly disconnected because none of them have been cast yet, so maybe Cuse made the choice to drop that side of the plot altogether.
Les revenants is available on DVD and Blu-ray.
As of now, it appears season 2 will not air until early 2015 : Engrenages (Spiral) season 5 and Borgia season 3 (final season) are scheduled to air this fall, so there is a spot for The Returned to return in November (that was the fall lineup in 2012) but let's not get our hopes up, filming has not yet begun, February 2015 is a safer bet.

ReplyDeleteI don't think the actresses they have gotten for Camille/Lena in the US version look close enough, I thought it was spot on casting in Les Revenants, Lena really did look like an older version of her twin.

ReplyDeleteEvery week or two i look for news. Usually i don't find anything, but last week i found out, that production on season 2, had been delayed until the fall. It's not expected to air in France until 2015. I wonder how long after, it will air on Sundance in the US?

Apparently filming hasn't begun so as you said, it will likely be in 2015! I'm glad I'll be able to watch it live.
ReplyDeleteI would need to see a pic of the two actresses side by side with hair and makeup to have an opinion. I have looked at a different picture of Lowe on imdb and she looks closer to the other gal than she does in that pic.

Won't lose me. I thought it was the best new series, i watched last year. And it's number 3 of my favorites, among current running series. I read that season 1 broadcast in France, in late 2012. 2 1/2 years or so between filming, is a long layoff. I'm little concerned with the actors, that played Victor and Camile, growing visibly older.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure, if i'll even give this a try. I love Les Revenants, and it seem as though The Returned, is going to be the same story. I had hope it would be a little different, with the episode count being 10 versus 8. But then i remembered, that Les Revenants ran for 75 minutes an episode, including commercials. That adds up to the same.
ReplyDeleteAs for the cast, i prefer the originals for Lena, Camile, Adele, and Pierre. Even though Julie and Victor's parts haven't been cast yet; i find it hard to believe, they will be better. I didn't like Simon, Thomas, and the deputy, so i don't care. And though i thought Frederic Pierrot, did a nice job as Jerome; i believe Mark Pellegrino is a great choice, for his counterpart.
Thanks for posting Bunky Bunk! It might take me awhile to warm up to The Returned after watching Les Revenants. I hope it does it justice...

ReplyDeleteYep as you said "could be", I mean in one year, after 2 years of waiting, if the premiere is not good I think I won't be the only one mad at the writers.

Of couse, all the adults roles are younger and more handsome in the american version.

ReplyDeleteWell, you're obviously not going to get three scenes with Simon's penis in the American version. Sixteen year boobies are definitely out too -- that's considered kiddie porn in America. I'm envisioning a series with all the sex taken out and replaced with buckets of blood and guts.
