Not really sure but I wouldn't be surprised if they start moving in that direction next season regardless of whether or not Tom dies in the finale.

    Hell yeah!!!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Absolutely not!
Imagine the two of them in life or death situations on a mission debating who should do what trying to protect one another as the Blacklister of the week escapes... UGH!

Aside from the possible rules against fraternization within their department, there is no romantic chemistry between them whatsoever. Much more of a protective sibling vibe to me.

It is such an overused trope and rarely actually adds anything to a series other than giving shippers fanfic ammunition.

That said, I expect it to happen at some point since it is a network TV series. I think it is a network bi--law that some percentage of coworkers on any given series need to date one another.

  4. We're clearly not watching the show for the same reason.

    ReplyDelete
  5. No, I want the show to focus more on Tom and Liz. Post the revelation, Tom/Liz scenes were the most entertaining. Their story is great, complicated and has a strong connection to Berlin. I do not want her to get sucked back into doing the case of the week with Reseller and the boring gang.

  6. There's no chemistry between the two, none at all.

    ReplyDelete
  7. For the most part I actually disliked Tom scenes (and Liz and Tom scenes) for the first half of the season or so, but after the show acknowledged Tom was an agent I enjoyed his scenes much more!

  8. The real fact here is that mr. Diego Klattenhoff is TOO HOT just to answer 'no'.

How about James Spader's character. (I can't remember how to spell his name). She has most chemistry with him

Should they, no or definitely not in the immediate future. Will they, yes.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Oh come on! They are barely friends at this point and the story is NOT about a relationship between those two. Can't we enjoy a series without it coming down to this, come on people grow up a little.

    ReplyDelete
  12. hope not, dont really feel it

    ReplyDelete
  13. I don't blame you for disliking Tom. Everyone did since he added nothing to the show and nagged a lot about the baby. Now after we know he is an agent, his story is far more interesting. The years they spent together meant a lot to each other. I want to know more about Tom "being the good guy" and if its true or not.

    More Tom, less Reseller.

    ReplyDelete
  14. The chemistry isn't there. I don't think the creators should risk it for now - the last thing the show and its fans need is for the second season to be ruined by a non-romance, and for the ratings to plummet.

A one night stand would definitely be tolerable though. That would make sense. But leave the full on relationship for season 3 maybe

    ReplyDelete
  15. Am I the only one thinking that there's still a chance that he's her real father? But either way, there's a strong bond that drew him to her and makes him protective of her that had nothing to do with romantic infatuation. It started before she even met him. We don't know what that connection is yet but odds are it's more familial in nature than romantic.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Not at the moment, but some time in the next few seasons, then I would say yes. For now, I would like to see a partnership/friendship to develop.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Ressler is her FBI partner, you're talking about Red Reddington. And I agree, Red's more of a father figure, if not her real father.

    ReplyDelete
  18. My thoughts exactly, one of the reasons I like The Killing is that Linden and Holder are partners and friends, nothing romantic there, and it works perfectly.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I would really like them together. I do think it should take time to get there, though. Becomegood partners and friends first and then more. Plus, Liz is gonna need a lot of time to recover from the tom fiasco.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oops. Yes, you're right. Too many Rs.

I will take the position not so much as "should they" but "will they", and the answer is: yes. The show will most clearly go in that direction.

The dynamic of the interactions between the three main characters: Keen, Ressler and Reddington is similar to that of Olivia, Peter and Walter on Fringe. Three unique characters forced to work together, two of which have an estranged, familial relationship (lets be honest here, Red IS Liz's father).

Season one has been about establishing the baseline of these characters. Season two and onward will be about teaming more effectively to overcome a larger threat. In that time they will all deeper relationships among themselves. One of which will be the inevitable pairing between Keen and Resler.

Lastly I recall very, very clearly how during and after the first season of Fringe there were a great many comments and opinions about how Olivia and Peter had no chemistry and how their relationship was closer to that of siblings etc. (Two ridiculous and overused arguments I might add) And we see where that show went.

As for "should they" I don't see why not. But they most definitely will.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Not now and not in the NEAR future. Please. Towards the end of the series maybe but this show is just not a show for "shippers" if you know what I mean. The focus is totally somewhere else. And I'd like for things to stay the way they are. Also why can't we have them as just partners? They work well together.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I honestly don't care as long as it is well-written.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes but IN THE FUTURE, I hope they don't try to make it fit now.

    ReplyDelete
  25. LOL!!! I can't begin to tell you how many times i've done that, welcome to the club! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't feel too strongly either way.,although I suspect the show may go in that direction. Honestly, I don't understand why people get upset whenever the possibility of an on-screen romance is raised, or why they feel the need to lecture people who like romantic subplots . It's a normal part of everyday life (especially for a single person), and in real life, it happens both in and outside the workplace. If it were to happen in the Blacklist, I suspect it would only be a minor sublot. I doubt it would transform it into a CW show!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I watch the show for the mistery, the superb James Spader and the action, but I don't want the show to become too dark and romance is a possibility to not let that happen. Some people say they don't have chemistry together, but up until now they were not supposed to, she was happily married and he is the kind of guy to respect that!

    ReplyDelete
  28. It's nice to have company in the moron club, isn't it? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Me too! They had a great relationship which i hope stays the course in these last 6 episodes that are coming up. This topic of always having to have a romantic relationship on these series drives me crazy, its not necessary or even warranted..Oh let me stop before i keep going on and on,ha!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Company is always welcomed,lol... :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. It seems like it's a given both due to seeing some Alias parallels and because the characters themselves both seem like they may both end up loosing those they cared about, putting them in a similar frame of mind and already having a similar work ethic. Now that's not to say that I wouldn't mind exploring a not yet introduced love interest either, just rather it feels like that's the shows current desighn.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Me too! I'm actually really fond of him now that we can really see the actor's acting chops!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm not sure. If Tom dies, then we have a situation where they're in the same boat in terms of agent who lost people they love at the expense of their jobs...

But I think that Ressler needs more fleshing out in general, before a real relationship between them could ever work or not feel forced. (I also see a lot of Alias tropes here...Sydney couldn't get close to Vaughn initially because he got back together with his girlfriend. Russler tries to have a relationship again with his ex at a time where...)

Personally I don't have problem with it, if it's an off an on again thing, where there are other love interests too and their relationship takes the whole series to really come together. That's the only way where I think it could work.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm a member too! :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. No please, dont, but i already see it coming, all those looks Ressler gives Liz and all that, i dont like it

    ReplyDelete
  36. I agree 100 %.

    ReplyDelete
  37. If its a natural progression fine, but not yet. As i said they are barely friends let alone working partners and people already want them in a relationship.
Its the viewers/shippers expectations/demands on where and when a relationship is suppose happen that gets me crazy.

Oh and yes,Red would make a good father in law! :P

    ReplyDelete
  38. David Higgins9 May 2014 at 15:13

Tom Keen and Agent Ressler, yes, though.

    ReplyDelete
  39. everyoneissleeping9 May 2014 at 15:16

And this is my son in law. He spent a couple of years trying to lock me up or kill me.... one of those, anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Exactly. It's not like the poll ways "when" either, it's just suggesting the idea at some point. I mean They've been smart about them not having anything real serious during the whole first season, but there are certain things in how they are written to each other and Red that makes it feel like the eventual intent is there.

The thing with how Russler is written too, is almost similar to Tom, where like it feels like there's just this "one" side of the character and then suddenly BOOM! We see something else. Russler kind came off as this hard a** stick in the mud and it's not till we see either his life or death situation with Red, his personal time with his GF, and even that episode where he had to confront his friend, where the audience gets to see a much more emotional side, a side that we haven't really seen him interact with any of the main cast with. So I think one reason it doesn't feel like it's a good match per say, is because Russler himself is SO guarded and Lizzy really isn't.

    ReplyDelete
  41. LOL!! Sounds like Booth locking up Brennan's father and brother!

DNA testing would make it too easy, don't ya know! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yep,I agree!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I don't think SHOULD is the right word, as if it's imperative they get together but I won't be opposed to it if it happens somewhere in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  44. No way! Liz and Ressler have ZERO chemistry!

    ReplyDelete
  45. A few episodes ago I thought they were going to have them get involved and then have Ressler be the one that dies in the finale. If he doesn't die in the finale I totally see that happening eventually.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I have more chemistry with my phone charger than they have together. They have major brother/sister vibes. Liz has MUCH more chemistry with Red. I wouldn't mind if they ended up together in the end. (No he's not her father)..it would be something different.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ya,me too! We finally get to see him and poof, hes gone...for now.

    ReplyDelete
  48. *raises mug in salute*

    ReplyDelete
  49. If they do, and there is a shred of reality to it, the relationship will/should end badly. How many office romances have you ever heard of that don't end up causing a lot of complications for both involved? That is especially true when work involves frequent life and death situations.

    ReplyDelete
  50. There should be a "depends on the writers' skills" options.
It can be organic and well written or a rushed disaster.
THE IMPORTANT THING IS: get a divorce and change that name asap. Keen is not even a real name, it is made up.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yes, it is legally required for coworkers to date on tv. Dura lex sed lex.

    ReplyDelete
  52. that would be totally unexpected O.O

    ReplyDelete
  53. Always more Red.
    His Spaderness reigns supreme.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hahahaha, but he can date someone else and remain hot.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ew. He's a father figure. Ew.

    ReplyDelete
  56. But you know they will. It IS tv, after all.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Where can I get my membership card?

    ReplyDelete
  58. I remember every time the actor popped out in Homeland ... God, I felt like I needed a valium to calm down. And hell-yeah, Morena Baccarin, she was a lucky woman :-)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Ok, so was I the only one that for a split second in the last episode when Red dropped to one knee it looked like he was going to propose to Liz? XD

I giggled at the absurdity of the thought, but it was there!! XD

  60. Anthoo Naranjo9 May 2014 at 18:23

Well, by the time I like to see them in a friendship. If in the future things are given for a romance, I think they would look good together.

But please, don't rush this relationship. Everything has to be step by step.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Maybe somewhere down the line but not right now.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Amazing to me, I had never heard of him until Blacklist. Am now watching Boston Legal. Awesome actor. Does it ever come on for repeats in America?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Enjoy the awesomeness that was/is Boston Legal!
Alan Shore is one the top 100 TV characters ever I think.

I was on TVLand a couple years ago, but I don't think it is airing in syndication anywhere right now.

  64. *steps away from the fellow commenter*
Sorry, but yeah, pretty much "ew" for me.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Well I don't want it to happen quick, it needs to be slow to be realistic that is why I wrote in the future, that is someday, they need to become friends and good partners first and it is not supposed to be main plot, just a subplot.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Thanks, I will do a search to watch for it to come back on.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Absolutely not. Can't one show NOT pair their detectives off. It's getting ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Only in real life. Megan and Diego seem to get along a little too well ;) heeheehee! They're adorable! >.<

    ReplyDelete
  69. Don't really care, though.

    ReplyDelete
  70. DarkUFO, no offense but these polls are really annoying. They serve absolutely no purpose, other than to annoy people on all sides. Some people don't want it to happen, some people do, while some people don't care, and some people are patient and don't want to rush it either way.

Even if people are in huge favor of one side or another, it doesn't actually matter because people watch these shows for different reasons anyway. I know this was user submitted, but it's really not a good idea to post them. This doesn't encourage debate, it encourages argument.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I am shocked by this poll
1- because it exists. Its frankly the stupidest poll ever asked (that I'm aware of)
2- I'm more disturbed that Yes is winning.
How are there 366 people that hit the wrong button?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Damon Salvatore11 May 2014 at 00:38

    No - I didn't like Ressler.

    ReplyDelete
  73. No. I like their relationship the way it is. Partners in work only. If I want sappy romance I'd watch all the dozens of other shows available for that.

    ReplyDelete
  74. So boring and predictable if they do. I'm far more interested in Tom's complicated relationship with Liz.

    ReplyDelete
  75. There's no chemistry between them at all. New Tom BOND Keen has chemistry with Liz and also with Jolene. I;d far rather more Tom and Less Ressler.

    ReplyDelete
  76. No. It's tired and lazy when every show pairs up its male and female lead, even if they have no chemistry, and despite the show's genre. Can't anyone in Hollywood write a platonic male-female relationship?

    ReplyDelete
  77. So true. How hard it is to believe two co-workers could possibly have something happen between them. it literally happens every day.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Sure Yeaah !! I'm not particulary fan of him but why not I don't really like Tom so ;)
