After Thursday night’s Vampire Diaries finale, we knew Enzo was back from the dead, but will he be sticking around Mystic Falls? The short answer of it all is: Yes!
Julie Plec revealed that not only will Enzo be returning as his vampire bad-boy self, but Michael Malarkey will officially be a Vampire Diaries series regular in season 6. “We have not seen the last of the delicious Michael Malarkey,” Plec said. “He’s a wonderful addition to the team, and he will be officially a series regular next year.”

ReplyDeleteJulie Plec nixed the possibility of a Tyler/Caroline/Stefan triangle saying that Caroline and Tyler are now just friends but she never said anything about any other triangles and the possibility you put forward could very well come to pass.
TVD and its fucking love triangles. Ugh!!
Ric/Enzo/Damon love triangle? I'm pretty sure there's some fanfiction out centered around this.

ReplyDeleteI'm okay with his character but I'm overall tired of TVDs lovestory (the triangle is dead anyway) being focused on so heavily while there should be supernatural stuff to tell (they tell it just not as much as I want them to).
I would've dropped TVD if they wouldn't have brought back Alaric as a regular...

Matt/New Grill errr Girl - I would be okay with it. Even Damon/Bonnie - if they are stuck there wherever for an extended period of time. All the rest - just no.

I like Enzo so this is fine with me! I was so mad when he died. I'm pretty sure he's going to be part of the new love triangle though: Stefan/Caroline/Enzo.

ReplyDeleteRight there with you, Josh is fantastic comic relief. But if I had to pick either Mikael or Josh I'd always take Mikael. He has just more meaning to the storyline and since I don't see 'The Originals' go beyond a fourth season (a mix out of the awful monday slot they pushed it on next season and affiliate issues we discussed yesterday) they'd do good to keep Mikael around to have a good and meaningful FINAL villain.

I really hope they don't do another triangle and in the process destroy Stefan and Caroline's characters. But knowing TVD, triangles is what it wants to thrive on rather than on intelligent story lines. So, there's a high possibility of a Stefan/Caroline/Enzo triangle.

ReplyDeleteI'm still slightly on the edge about them recasting Caspar Zafar and Alice Evans with a tall black dude and a tiny teen.
ReplyDeleteThey do realize that these recasts can only work temporarly, right ?
It's not like you can recast a character you haven't shown before in a body we know isn't theirs and then pretend they didn't have their original bodies.
Zafer and Evans are required to show up now in flasbacks. Otherwise they should have recast them alltogether the first place.
I'm not the biggest Nate fanatic, he's a fairly 'meh' actor (certainly better than most CW actors but still not on par with his siblings, I DID enjoy his performance on Bloodlines though) and while I enjoyed Kol I wouldn't mind forgetting him. They wrote the character into a corner on TVD. A character corner that made most stages of character evolution impossible. They'd have to reboot Kol from a pure villain to something new on TO.
Finn, Mikael and Esther do have some air upwards though

ReplyDeleteI'm much more afraid of a Stefan/ Elena/ Caroline triangle given Damon's current situation, Julie Plec's affinity for love triangles and Stelena, as well as Caroline's jealousy over Elena and Stefan in 5x20.
ReplyDeleteI believe Julie (or someone else on TVD team) mentioned that Kol had a lot of history with the Witches in New Orleans. So it seems like he has potential to be rebooted. I mainly just to hate to see them act like he doesn't exist.

ReplyDeleteEnzo was really the only new character that's been introduced since Season 3 that people seem to like so I think it was smart to decide to keep him around.
ReplyDeleteI don't know want Mikael to be a regular. The Original who should be added as a regular is Kol.
ReplyDeleteThere's only so much you can do with Mikael and it would be impossible for him to co-exist with his children.
The issue is Kol has outlived his purpose, he was made into a villain on TVD and was given no other characteristics anymore. It's not even possible to assume that there was more than villainy.

Kol didn't come off as a villain to me. In Season 3 he was hanging out with Klaus and they went off and got drinks so it seemed like they got along. From what we saw of his interactions with Rebekah it seemed like they had an alright relationship as well.
ReplyDeleteIn Season 4 Kol was the only sane one. Nobody else cared about the potential consequences of raising Silas and Kol was the only one who was able to step-back and realize that it might not be a great idea and tried to stop it.
Kol was perfectly ready to break the rules by killing Matt, then attacked Rebekah with the White Oak Stake and was ready to chop of Jeremys arms for sports and fun.

And especially with his final arc in season 4, one that set him on a specific road. Just going after people for revenge.

ReplyDeleteKol asked Jeremy to stop and Jeremy refused so cutting off his arm was a last resort since he couldn't kill him. How is that any different that the other characters going around killing people who refuse to back down? Also Klaus has also threatened Rebekah with the white oak stake so I don't see how that was any different.

They're all villains but saying that he didn't seem villainous to you sounded fairly weird to me. The entire TVD/TO cast is filled with villains. Kol is no different to anyone else.
He just had the misfortune of ending up on the opposing side.
I just meant that Kol is no worse than Klaus, Damon or any of the other main characters on these shows. So it's not a real "villain" for me. I think he would fit in on The Originals better than Mikael or Finn would. I'd like to see him call out Elijah on his hypocrisy.and have it out with him for not caring about his death and so forth.

ReplyDeleteHe's no worse than the others indeed but unlike most other characters he has been cornered due to his beef with MFG and his motivations. That's why I ment with cornered.
Also: we don't know what Elijahs initial reaction was to his death. Remember: he wasn't on the show back then. Klaus and Rebekah didn't seem to care much either
Elijah instead of killing Elena was comforting her because Jeremy (the man who killed his brother) had died. The scene rubbed me the wrong way considering how Elijah claim of "Nobody hurts my family and lives". The fact that he cared more about Hayley's death then the death of his own brother is something I'll never understand.

ReplyDeleteI had no idea about Steroline, I only watched for like, 2 episodes in the last two years (one of those was when they introduced the gay character, but it was so cringe-worthy I didn't bother with more). I do enjoy Michael Malarkey's acting and his character seems fun but I can't stand Damon/Elena/Stefan and the show is all about them, sadly.

ReplyDeleteugh, the Enzo character had some promise at first but then by the end I didn't care about the character at all and along with all the other meh Traveler plot pretty much had me giving up the show for good. I like that Alaric is back (even though I really hate it when shows "cheat death") and hoped that Lexi might make it... but I think that I might stick to my decision to give it up unless there's nothing else on.. we'll see

ReplyDeleteI am into Damon and Bonnie too. I've always noticed their chemistry and I've always wondered why they had never addressed it. I guess that now that Stefan/Elena and Damon/Elena have been fully explored, they'll finally give the brothers new love interests (as in main female characters).
ReplyDeleteI do agree with your list, but I think they're going with Stefan and Caroline first. They're obviously having a romance soon, but we all know that their relationship will light up Elena's feelings for Stefan as soon as he begins dating Caroline. I also think that Elena will get over Damon, and he will get over Elena while growing attached to Bonnie, wherever they are. When all the characters reunite, things will be different. So after all this I can see Stefan/Elena and Damon/Bonnie, and I like it. Caroline might stay with Matt or Tyler?
I think Damon and Elena are wrong and bad for each other, and like a lot of people, I don't want to see them together antmore. So I'm okay with if she earns Stefan's love again. Bonnie can give Damon a fresh start, because they were never really close, while with Elena you have this toxic, damaged beyond repair thing.
As for friendships, I'm excited about Alaric/Enzo, as long it's not all about Damon. Damon is a jerk, and people like him as such, so the writers need to stop trying to make him a hero.
