Sleepy Hollow - Season 2 - More Episodes Ordered

7 May 2014

If the first season of Sleepy Hollow left you wanting a little more, you’re going to love what Fox has planned for season 2.

The breakout supernatural-historical thriller will produce at least 15 episodes for its sophomore season, with producers currently preparing for a potential total of 18 episodes. That’s well above the 13-episode order for season one.

  2. I'm okay with this as long as the extra episodes aren't filler. As much
as I like Sleepy Hollow, I don't need to watch Ichabod trying to figure
out a Segway for an hour so FOX can pad their schedule.

  3. I'm actually pretty glad, the show finished really early in the year, and I wouldn't mind 2 extra episodes, more Abby and Ichabod time.

  4. Exact quote from Reilly: " Industry insiders were shocked that Fox didn’t extend the first season order for Sleepy Hollow
when it came out of the box strong. And given Fox’s Monday woes later
in the season, the network absolutely could’ve used more episodes of the
over-the-top fantasy series this season. Reilly says he has no regrets.
“This spring, when … I desperately could use Sleepy Hollow on
the air, I’ve thought, ‘Oh, it would have been nice to have it around’,”
he admits. “But it was the right thing to do for that show. They were
doing $4 million little mini-movies every week on a crazy schedule. We
missed airdates, so we had more preemptions. [And] the audience wants to
watch 13 episodes in a row. They don’t want to watch two on, and then
one off, and then three on, and then two off.” Reilly believes Sleepy
will benefit from having more time to prepare for its sophomore year:
“We’re in series production now. We’ve got our writers' staff up and
running. We’ll start shooting in May. I’m going to make somewhere
between about 15 or more, maybe a maximum of 18 next year. Those will
air all in a row. There will be no preemptions [except maybe] one over
the World Series or a holiday.”

  8. This isn't really news though, FOX said at TCA that season 2 will have more episodes.

  9. I thought this was a fake quote from you. Holy Mother of God, it's not!

  10. As long as it doesn't come at the expense of quality, I'm all for it.

  11. Oh god, don't air it in spring! Everything falls in spring and I want this awesome show to be short enough to be successful.

  12. You had me laughing out loud with this remark.

  13. Usually shows with that many episodes tend to drag, I do hope this one doesn't.
If it's still as good I'd love more of it, of course.

  14. Not a wise decision.

  15. LOL, I do hope we don't miss Ichabod run ins with tecnology though, those are one of the best thing SH has for me.

  16. 16 would be ideal IMO, not too many to fall into the trap of filler episodes and a few more to tide us over.

  17. Sleepy Hollow is an iffy show for Season 2. Will it come back with a bang or will the ratings plummet like other Fox shows (The Following, etc.)?
The ratings had already started to decline in the shorter season so adding more episodes is not a good idea.
The show started out with a 3.5 demo, declined and then stabilized at around a 2.2 demo. It won't likely increase in season 2 and more likely will decrease to high 1s or around a 2.0.

  18. Agreed as much as I love the show the big gap between S1 and S2 won't help either. I hope it sticks with its steady audience but these are tough times for networks.

  19. yes, lets stretch it out so we have more filler.

  20. Ha, I don't have the time to write such a long quote.

  21. I hope they keep it at 15.

  22. Wow! I did not see that coming. 18 episodes?? That's crazy. 15 would be great. But 18. That's kinda weird.

  23. The skinny jeans bit was hilarious.

  24. Just let me say it... WHY? 13 episodes were just fine for a season. Greedy bastards, everywhere.
