    The Oberyn/Tyrion scene! wow!

  2. I voted for Oberyn/Tyrion. I wanted to vote for the LF telling Lysa he only loved Catelyn before making her fly scene but he didn't say: "Only Cat", so I felt cheated. :( I was also a little bummed that Lysa didn't lay the truth bomb again about killing Jon Arryn and sending the letter that implicated the Lannisters again where Sansa could hear it like it was in the books. I guess it makes sense because in the books Sansa goes on as if she didn't hear the truth bomb while I think show Sansa would have been all WTF and caused a stirr. No Marillian either being all creepy and playing music while Lysa threatens Sansa. :(

  3. Two words, or the lack of two words kept me from voting for Petyr Baelish and the incredible flying fish- Only Cat.

Therefore, Tyrion and Oberyn discussing past trips to King's Landing and Justice. Few (if any) actors have captured their book counterpart as well as Pedro Pascal has taken on the Red Viper, Oberyn Martell!

  4. I think they traded in on the impact of Lysa's death scene in hopes that they could get two scenes with great impact. I don't think it worked honestly. Many people almost overlooked Littlefinger's declaration of being behind everything that happened in Season 1.

I think LF tossing Lysa out the Moon Door was still intense and impactful, but if that was the moment that LF revealed his true nature and identity I think it would have been supremely powerful.

  5. Wonder whom LF will frame the death on in the show.

  6. Agreed. I think was also a way for them to get the information out there to the audience with the two scenes but keep Sansa in the dark about it. If they go full foward with making Sansa more of an willing accomplice to LF's shenanigans, then they can't really have Sansa know his part in her family's downfall.

Sansa is more of a helpless little girl in the books that puts on a brave face and soliders on, this Sansa may go dark if her delight in Robin's declaration that he'd toss anyone who annoyed her out of a moon door, and her slapping him (though I agree with LF, he needed it... I'm evil I guess. And NO, I don't believe in beating children but Robin is an extreme case.) and then her beginnings of a creepy smile when Baelish tried to convince her that he killed Joffrey for Catelyn. All signs to dark Sansa on the rise.

It all makes sense but those scenes in the books were so much better. :( I guess it does put Sansa's story in a better place moving forward though because her POV's got boring and creepy with LF going slightly pervy on her.

  7. I think the show's Marillion might even be that dude that gets his tongue yanked out at the end of S1. I guess I just assumed they'd use some other random singer since his story was so big in the book at that point in the Eyrie (and at the Fingers with his attempted rape of Sansa) but I guess they didn't have time for those plot points on the show. Everything with explaining Lysa's tumble is going to be completely new now. I'm really surprised and a little scared to see where they go with it.

  8. Peter Dinklage was amazing as usual, his face when he heard Oberyn's story was heartbreaking.
Also that last scene was amazing, as was Arya with her little list.

  9. I saw Hot Pie and I immediately voted without reading the other choices, maybe not the best outcome but could be worse.

  10. Hot Pie! But LittleFinger and Lysa at the moon door are a close second

  11. Tyrion and Oberyn, the story Oberyn tells about visiting baby Tryion was so great as was his declaration to be his champion.

Runner-up #1: The Hound tells Arya about how he got his burns, their relationship continues to be a high point

Runner-up #2: Brienne and Pod meet Hot Pie, how lovely was it to see Hot Pie doing so well? And then helping them out with information about Arya.

  12. Can't be the first time someone "accidentally" slipped and fell though that open moon-door. Unless they retrieve Lysa's crushed body and find forcefully smashed hand prints on her... XD

  13. Wondering what the meaning of the Melisandre & Selyse scene was for. Just for the weekly quota of boobs or the foreshadowing of the last bath and what role Shireen could play.

  14. Oh no!
Another visit to CSI: Westeros like Catelyn identifying Cersei's hair in Season 1? XD

  15. I think it was a way to humanize both characters, like we saw Melisandre making jokes and everything! And we got to see just how Selyse really feels about Stannis/Melisandre.

  16. Excellent episode, loved the scene with Obyren and Tyrion; great actors both of them. The look of hope and gratitude on Tyrion's face just gah all the feels. And the joys of thwarting Tywin scene was great too I loved Peter's acting in that moment that Tyrion forgets his troubles before it all comes crashing down again so lovely and adorable.

  17. I could have gone without it. Her standing around nekkid for 10 minutes just felt gratuitous.

  18. Jaime: This is not a joke!
Tyrion: It is...just not a funny one.

Life in a few words many times, best exchange of the season. The best scene involves anything with Littlefinger, "Cat" or not "Cat."

  19. But it was a great way to underscore just how different these two women are - and yet they've come together with a common purpose...

    ReplyDelete
  20. Having not read the books, I have no idea what you're referring to - *now inserting fingers in ears*

    ReplyDelete
  21. I don't remember it, only like she said in that scene that Shireen can't stay behind on Dragonstone.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Heh, I was thinking about mentioning CSI: Winterfell XD

  23. All Tyrion's scenes were great, but especially the one with OM. They pretty much nailed it IIRC. They even included the pinch.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Agreed.

I was worried that "pinch" scene would not be included on the series when they did not use it in the same spot as the books when the Dornish arrived. That scene just shows so much about Cersei's character. Even at a young age (before many of the later trials and cruelties she faces) she was cruel and sadistic and just plain wicked.

  25. Oberyn saying he will battle for trial.
We finally got an epic Oberyn, it took 7 episodes, but he finally is the character we love in the books (or loved, no to spoil any further development of the trial ;) )

  26. It is difficult to choose between Tyrion and Oberyn and Littlefinger, Lysa and Sansa. In the end I voted for Tyrion and Oberyn, because I loved the dialog in that scene and I can´t help loving it, because I know what comes next.
So many great scenes in this episode. Brienne, Pod and Hotpie was light and brought a smile to my face.
Tyrion talking to Jaime, the only family or friend that still cares for him.
Bron turning Tyrion down, so sad.

  27. Lou we are def on the same page!!!

Tyrion & Oberyn!!! The Pinch story shows just how terrible Cersi is and HAS been her entire life... it's amazing that Tyrion made it to age 5- muchless adulthood! Oberyn seeing Tyrion as a child and not a Monster, and Tyrion's reaction to O being his champion! I saw Oberyn telling Tyrion that HE is the "Justice here" not just for himself, his sister, nephews and nieces but Tyrion's life as well.

R1: They are getting a respect for eachother & finding out just how ALONE they are

R2: I laughed at them! Listening to Hot Pie's ramblings & rolling their eyes & "not another pie story."
Brienne's "you were saying" too funny these two together ! Also: Hot Pie's Dire Wolf has come
    a long way!

  28. It's both for me. I am and always have been a fan of sword play... so GoT is a double joy for me. The interaction between characters, as they all play off each other, but it is their expressions that have me. Take Tyrion in the last two eps, he needed no dialog, it was written in every body and facial movement he made. He has been completely mesmerizing - Worthy of any and all awards (should they actually give him any).

    ReplyDelete
  29. Definitely true, and add of course add on that Tyrion's birth killed her mother....

Many things were out of her control I'll grant you, but many of the problems and negatives in her life are of her own doing IMO. Cersei had a lot stacked against her, but she also had a lot going for her. She was born in the strong House Lannister with exceedingly beautiful features and strong intellect.

Many women were born with much less achieved much more and many women born to a high station accepted their role, some even excelled at it. It's a sad story on some levels, but still a mostly unsympathetic story to me.
