  1. So he's totally her father, right?!

  2. I was expecting soooo much more. I thought I was going to get answers, how could I be so naive :(
At least Tom is alive, so he can redeem himself from that pathetic attempt at fighting back and getting shot, unless that was his plan...

    ReplyDelete
  3. it was okay- I feel not a lot of questions were answered

  4. I liked it, but didn't love it. I hope that in season 2 we get to know who the girl is. I really wanted Lizzie's connection to Red to be something other than family -- like a really big twist. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  5. We now know red is her father, which was the biggest question of the show. We also know who Berlin is, which was another.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Berlin is lizzy grand father, and red was married to his daughter, that would be the girl in the picture,. Which the girl in the picture is Lizzie's mom, Berlin is upset with red because the Stowe maker killed her, lmao! That guess was beyond wild

    ReplyDelete
  7. Come on, they could not tell you everything, it just gives you something to look forward to next season

    ReplyDelete
  8. Loved that. Kept my interest and answered some questions. No way Tom is dead. I am fine with Meera going. She had no role.

    ReplyDelete
  9. there was no real surprise
everyone knew he was the father
we still don't what berlin's deal it

    ReplyDelete
  10. I was hoping he wasn't.

    ReplyDelete
  11. same i wanted a bigger twist

  12. Did/do you want Red to ultimately end up the bad guy? I'm just asking because that's the only way I could of seen there connection be something other than familial.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I don't know. Didn't it feel a little too perfect? Like one too many signs are pointing towards it being father/daughter?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Like it happy we found out Red is Liz father to me I will been disappoint if Red didn't turn out to be her father I wish they told us more about Berlin even though I wanted my theory to come true that Berlin was Liz mother and that's why she went after Red also think Tom is not dead

there is no indication that red is Liz father......we will know more in season 2

    ReplyDelete
  16. Everyone keeps saying Red is definitely her father and all signs point that way except for one, Berlin had the locket with his daughter's picture inside, and the Russian guys had explained earlier how he lost his daughter in the fire and the only thing he had was a locket. So you don't really know....?

  17. I still don't know what to think about this. :|

what if berlin is liz father and he see Red as the bad guy but it won't make sense why he killed members of the task force

    ReplyDelete
  19. It also stands to reason that a guy who is willing to go to the length that "Berlin" did might be doing so for family.

I still don't understand. Like every other episode, virtually no questions were answered and a billion more were raised. Once again, Red simultaneously won't say who Liz's real father is, yet never stops talking about it. So many think tonight's episode confirms that it's Red. I very much hope that he is, but don't see any sort of confirmation. Tom is dead. I was hoping that in some way he would redeem himself even just a little, maybe tell her that at least his love for her was genuine. Nope, just a quick apology, a whisper, and then lights out. Malik is dead. I had hoped that her character would be developed a lot more. Personally, I'm a bit disappointed with who they chose to portray the real Berlin. He's a great actor, but he's been typecast to death as the Russian bad guy. Was hoping that Cooper wouldn't survive. I like the actor but he's been typecast-zoned, too, and never seems to make much of a splash. Maybe that's why? A good episode, but I was hoping for a lot more. See you in the fall.

  21. lol, rewatch the last scene, when red takes his shirt off.

  22. the girl in the photo was killed by the stewmaker, rewatch episode 4.

Just as I predicted...more questions than answers. At least it was renewed.

  24. gave it a great, as the long already guessed at answer of Red being Lizzie's father was anticlimactic, I was thinking that they might make Berlin her father which would've been interesting, but also the next obvious guess after Red.... bummer for Meera, but she never really got much character development. It'll be interesting to see how next season will go, but I'll be watching

  25. SHIELDNCISArrowfan13 May 2014 at 05:02

yea but do we know it her father? Liz doesn't know if it was her father because the memory is vague could be someone posing his her father

  26. SHIELDNCISArrowfan13 May 2014 at 05:04

it would hard to have everything in one episode so we could make our own conclusion until season 2 comes......

    ReplyDelete
  27. Brittany Scarlett Beach13 May 2014 at 05:06

Uh, only one thing was answered so I disagree.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well, looks like I hyped myself up way too much for this finale. Don't get me wrong, it was still great, but I was expecting a gigantic ass plot twist to the show.

RIP, Meera. If someone was going to die in the finale, it had to be you. Thankfully, Cooper didn't join you. That would just ruin it for me.

And is Tom really dead? I'm only questioning this because by the time the FBI arrived at the place where Liz shot him, his body magically disappeared. What the hell is up with that? There's something fishy going on there and I'm not declaring he's dead until I see a body.

Also, that final scene was very interesting. So now that we know that Red has burns all over his back, my theory is that he saved Liz from the fire when she was younger and then he sent her to Sam.

And that picture that Berlin has on his locket is the same picture that Red stole in "The Stewmaker"! Hmmm, so it was a picture of Berlin's daughter in the end.

Season 2 is going to be very different from season 1 and I absolutely can't wait!

do anyone choose the agent from DC field office......seem to be he has his own agenda.......could he be working for Berlin....

    ReplyDelete
  30. If you rewatch the entire season, and piece together everything that red has said and that you've seen, the conclusion is he is her father. For him not to be her father the show would have to go against everything it is, which it wouldn't do. When he says her father died in the fire he saying the man he was died, and it would explain why his life drastically changed.

    ReplyDelete
  31. A lot going on in that finale... and much of it brilliant

    - I liked Fitch helping Red out in the end.
    - I did not mind Agent Malik being killed honestly. I did not mind her character but I always found her a bit over-the-top.
    - I am not sad Tom is dead unlike some people. His death provides closure to that chapter in Liz's life. Plus, people need to die in a show centered oj life or death situations or there is no real danger or weight.
    - Glad Harold lived. Not that I love the character that much, but a new head of the unit would bring massive changes alogn with them. I hope he stays on as the unit's head.

Peter Stormare having the locket with the picture of the same girl on the photo Red took from the Stewmaker was a really nice connection. If he is Berlin and his origin story is to be believed then we know that girl is Berlin's daughter..

Red having burns does not necessarily mean he is Liz's father like some seem to take it. He could have gotten them rescuing Liz from the fire that killed her father and then taken her to Sam's. It would match up exactly with what Red has always told Liz, explain why he knows her father is dead, and could explain Sam and Red's connection... Of course if Red is her father he could have gotten the burns in the fire and someone else could have rescued Liz. The fire could even have been to fake his death.

I'm still not sold either way, but have thought for weeks that Red was the man that pulled Liz from the fire and brought her to Sam. So the burns just confirmed that to me....

I do wonder though... assuming Berlin is the man who escaped and his daughter is in the locket photo, why did Red take the photo of Berlin's daughter from The Stewmaker? Also, that would seem to imply that Red knows who Berlin is. Maybe I'm forgetting something or missing a connection....

Overall I liked the episode a lot, but I find myself disappointed that Liz decided to "stay away" from Red and the Post Office in the end. I assume she will return for some reason and I think they can only go to the "Liz leaving" well so many times before it is a joke. There are there or nearly there already. That annoyance is balance out by adding the fabulous Peter Stormare to Season 2!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I wondered about that too, but it felt more like he was working for Fitch in this episode.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Three things
    Tom isn't dead
    Red is her father
Also when she went to Red at the end, that was her changing her mind and coming back, that's why Red doesn't leave.

Also, Tom is probably the second best character on the show, so I'm glad he's still alive.

    ReplyDelete
  34. SHIELDNCISArrowfan13 May 2014 at 05:35

I don't think we know if he died or alive since there is no body left behind...so he probably alive but seriously wounded

    ReplyDelete
  35. Brittany Scarlett Beach13 May 2014 at 05:38

then, why has Berlin tried to kill her? That is plausible but Red's her father.

    ReplyDelete
  36. SHIELDNCISArrowfan13 May 2014 at 05:38

yeah probably he did say people wanted Red to be release.......seem to be he want the task force to continue

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm still hoping that he is not her father too.

The case for him being her father makes a lot of sense and has from the pilot, but I can still see alternatives that fit the information provided.

If he is why prolong a definitive reveal so long? All the evidence has been ambiguous. It can easily be taken as proof he is her father, but it can also be proof he is a friend (or relative) of her father who was there at the time of the fire which allowed him to rescue Liz and take her to Sam's.

  38. start_wearing_purple13 May 2014 at 05:47

Awesome. Just awesome. My only really nit picky question is why on earth did no one in the FBI office ask "Wait, hold on, he cut the guard's hand off?"

So happy Peter Stormare will be popping up and around.

    ReplyDelete
  39. start_wearing_purple13 May 2014 at 05:54

Meera's death seems like the cheap way out of promising the fanbase a major death. Considering her major role in the show as Diane Fowler's mole had run it's course she was pretty much a red shirt anyway.

Yeah, it's not conclusive Red is or isn't her father. But it's clear to me that Red brought Liz to Sam.

You're not missing anything. We never really learned anything about Stewmaker's victim #79 other than Red was interested. It does make an intriguing season 2 mystery.

The end showed me at least that Liz is recommitted to the deal with Red.

    ReplyDelete
  40. When I saw Stormare, I knew he was Berlin.

    ReplyDelete
  41. start_wearing_purple13 May 2014 at 05:58

Yeah, me too. And maybe it's just that meta knowledge that's making me annoyed they never asked the question... but still.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I dont get it - could not she just do a DNA test? I bet the questioning "is he my father?" did cross her mind, so why it was so impossible to collect a few hairs or a blood sample and do the test!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Given that we saw the body of Berlin's imposter and only a pool of blood where Tom was shot it is pretty much certain Tom is alive. I haven't thought Red was her father for a couple of months now. But he definitely has some deep connection to the Father.

My question is who is the girl in the locket and the picture (#79) that Red got from the Stewmaker. Doesn't look a bit like Lizzie, but is obviously the same girl. The locket makes it pretty certain it is Berlin's daughter. Now we need to find out more in Season 2 about Berlin.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I would have no issue with Red being the big bad in plain sight all the long. None whatsoever. That said, there are other options than just those two.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Telfan Mayanmar13 May 2014 at 06:24

Agreed. There is always a chance the show is playing tricks on us and no we cannot say with absolute certainty he is the father. However, like you said, all we have to do is infer from everything the show has given us as the audience this season. These inferences we can see as inductive and deductive logic. Since the first episode I assumed he was her father, when he told her everything about him was a lie. Then the stare down he had with Tom on the bench the day her father died, and he told him her father would always be there watching in case someone got close. Finally, he had a long paused when asked directly whether he was her father before saying no. Then in this last episode we see the burn marks on his back. Only hardcore to thorough-going skeptics would not believe he is the father at this point, in my opinion. If someone says they do not believe he is the father, it seems to me to be a lack of logic and reasoning skills.

    ReplyDelete
  46. - I never believe someone is dead until I see a body, that's why I said "if" Tom is dead.
    - Red may be her father as many of us have said from the pilot, However, every piece of information that can be used to "prove" Red is Liz's father can also be used to prove he was not her father, but a friend or relative very close to her father.
    - I think I wrote "Maybe her seeing Red at the end was her returning" in my post because it could be taken that way for sure. The thing is that the unit was disbanded. She has to go to Water Gary Martin or whoever is filling in for Cooper to say she is back. Her going to Red is meaningless unless she goes to the FBI and confirms she is still with the unit.

    About Tom, meh..
I liked him the latter part of the season quite a bit. However, I don't mind when characters I like are killed if it fits the story. Deaths need to be a permanent thing on series or death has very little meaning. They can only use the "back from the dead" card so many times before it becomes a farce.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Telfan Mayanmar13 May 2014 at 06:28

I'd say this doesn't take away from the evidence pointing to Red being the father. This could merely be information to throw the audience off. Look at all of us, on here discussing the show with all these comments. The producers and director know what they are doing, pulling us in to keep the ratings topped off.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Telfan Mayanmar13 May 2014 at 06:29

    Yep I remember that.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Telfan Mayanmar13 May 2014 at 06:33

Once again i agree with you. I love Red and he is obviously the best character on the show, but somehow I find the mystique behind Tom makes him more interesting than Lizzie. Outside of Red and Tom I like Lizzie the best. I'm glad Tom is still alive too, and I would have preferred Ressler dying over Meera, i like her a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I don't always pay attention to the promos or spoilers and I missed the major death being promised. I guess it could be seen as a bit of a cop out, but I would say that the term "major" is relative in TV-land. So many times we are told of major deaths and they turn out to be rather unimpactful in the end.

I took the last scene that way too, but I still think it's possible they could go a different way in Season 2. Liz has to go to the FBI and say she's back for it to mean anything, Red doesn't control the FBI or the Blacklist team, although at times it feels like it! XD

    ReplyDelete
  51. This is just a theory, but it would fit the pieces together.
Red is her father. Berlin is her grandfather. If you go back to the part when they talk to Berlin in the hospital, he says his daughter fell in love with a dissident. This all occurs during the time of the end of the cold war, which fits the when Elizabeth would of been born. He says he helped her escape, afterwards she could of fled to the states and had Elizabeth with Red and Berlin wouldn't of known. They don't say how much time passed between her escape and him receiving the locket in prison. Eventually they capture her, burn the house. Just because the picture is of a girl who's probably in her early teen's, does not mean she was that young when she died. Berlin says, he is after the man he holds responsible, that doesn't have to mean the man who killed her, it could mean the man she fell in love with. It would explain why the are each have a connection to the girl in the photo, not sure if I'm correct, looking forward to finding out.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Since the very first promo for the series I assumed Red is Liz's father, but the more information they give that can be taken that way without an actual definitive answer, the more i begin to wonder if he is her father at all. XD

Red being her father is still the most likely scenario, but there is such a deep and yet vague mythology built that it can go other directions.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I was wondering about that connection too, but three things bothered me...

    - The word "dissident". Doesn't one need to be Russian to be a Russian dissident? Personally, I would not use that world to describe an American, but maybe Berlin would?

    - The other issue I have with it is Red seemingly honestly not knowing who Berlin is. I would think one of the first people he would think of would be Liz's grandfather.

    - The one I did not think of was the age of the girl in the photo. However, I think the photos in the Stewmaker's photo album were similar to Polaroids weren't they? The rest certainly looked to be of death scenes, bodies wrapped in plastic etc.

I don't think any of the three points necessarily definitively rule it out, but they make me wonder.

    ReplyDelete
  54. You know a series is great (writing, acting, and directing) when the season finale can give next to no answers, yet still entertain you for the hour. Red's burn scars confirms he was at the fire, but is he Liz's father or the one who killed her father is what I believe is also a possibility. I knew Tom wasn't dead............the line from the 2015 Ford Mustang commercial was a subtle SPOILER, "............for now Tom will have to remain a mystery!" Season 2 won't get here fast enough for me. 4 THE BLACKLIST TOP TEN, I am still Nobody!!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I actually think the same thing about him using the word dissident, but it is possible he used it without the person being Russian.
Berlin isn't his real name and Red could think her grandfather is dead.
The photo is the one thing that makes me think I'm wrong, however, especially when I go back and look at it again.

    ReplyDelete
  56. SHIELDNCISArrowfan13 May 2014 at 07:35

seem to me Liz will continue to work with red meaning the FBi task force will continue.......I think even Martin wants to task force to continue if Liz wants to so I expect season 2 to start a few months later with the task force intact with some new character

    ReplyDelete
  57. The "big" movement in the narrative pretty much played out the way I had it figured after last week. Namely, Red is a war with a very formidable opponent, and Liz has joined him. I'm not sure what connectivity Liz (and Red?) will have to the authorities; but, since both Cooper and Ressler are still alive, I'm thinking that they will connect somehow. As for the questions about Liz' father, her past, Red's connection to her--and, the grotesque possibility that either Liz is Berlin's daughter, or that Red actually butchered Berlin's daughter, are going to have to play out in season 2. Speaking of which...

I just read an interview with the series creator, Jon Bokenkamp, on the TV Guide website, and in all honesty, I really don't have a lot of confidence that he and the other writers knows where they're going with this series. They appear to be uncertain about Tom Keen--a character that I never liked, and want to stay dead. But, the possibility is that they'll revive him (along with Gina Zanetakos ?) to add an air of ambiguity, that the writers hope the viewers will see as proof of the complexity they have woven into the narrative. It's not.

Most interesting for me, regarding Season 2, is whether the writers can discipline themselves and remain serious about producing a series that makes sense for the "theme" (which I'm not sure of) and not fall into the trap (yes, I'm talking to you "Game of Thrones" and "Criminal Minds") of creating "shock-narratives"--playing games with the loyalty of the fans.

    ReplyDelete
  58. You read my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Is Lizzy's father Berlin or Red ?
Why do Berlin and Red have the same photo of Lizzy ?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yeah, the "Is Red Liz' Father?" mystery got old when when she actually asked him if it was so. At this point it just feels like stalling, and to keep throwing clues unnecessary.

Also, what was the point of Berlin's backstory? is it a red herring or foreshadowing? also, why would the stewmaker send body pieces when it is his job to disappear every trace? Berlin's backstory doesn't make sense considering who killed that little girl.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I had a very convoluted theory by mid-ep; Red is not Liz' father, Berlin is. Red was unable to kill Liz; he still faked her death with the stewmaker and ended up saving her from a fire before giving her away.

    ReplyDelete
  62. The sad thing is I think we didn't learn anything new pertaining to Liz' origins; with Berlin, it felt more like set up for next season than actual resolution of any plot-threads.

    ReplyDelete
  63. So we finally are on this line. It looks great and in my opinion we know that Red is her father.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Father or not father? Even if Red isn't her father, there seems to be no question that Red, at the very least, knows who Liz' father is. The question, then, is: What possible purpose could it serve to keep her father's identity from her? In what way could not knowing possibly protect her? As far as I can see there is none...unless Red truly is her father. Of course, maybe the show's writers, themselves, aren't yet sure of the direction they'd like to take.

    ReplyDelete
  65. So Red is mos probably her father, no surprise there, but killing Meera? Come on! I liked her...and Tom is still alive? Do I really have to teleport myself into the series (Warehouse 13, anyone?) and shoot his head off? Why, oh god, why...

    ReplyDelete
  66. Decent finale. Not sure why they had to kill off Meera, though. And the way Tom's "death" was handled leaves hope that he's still alive... not sure if I want that. And we still don't know who is Liz's father and why it's so important to keep that from her? And what did Red do to Berlin? Geez, too many questions left unanswered.

    ReplyDelete
  67. All I have to say is that I can't wait until Season 2!!!!!!!!!! The finale, IMO, went by too fast.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I stopped watching the series in the middle of the season, but I'm curious... Have they answered what Tom's job was?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Basically yes.

    ReplyDelete
  70. That's a bit disturbing.
I hate when showrunners hedge on decisions to see if they changed their minds on plot choices or to wait and see how viewers react. It really feels like that with Tom... and it could explain why the writers are being vague about Red's relationship to Liz as well.

I understand why Red would not tell her (assuming he does not want Liz to know he's her father to protect her), but why keep it from the audience so long when most people have assumed it since the pilot? Are they hedging their bets or is their more information to come that will twist things up?

I hate writing to shock as well....
Although, I disagree about Game of Thrones since the shocking material is already in the books. Game of Thrones aside, keeping Tom alive and having him pop up at the perfect opportune moment is exactly what I'm leery of - It is so trite. I would rather he be dead.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Possible...
If the theory is true, Red may not know Berlin is the alias used by Liz's grandfather, but he would know that Liz's grandfather has reason to be vengeful towards him wouldn't he?

Red would probably be keeping tabs on the man due to the strong connection to Red's past. Maybe he is assumed dead, but then again Red has shown he often knows when people have fake their deaths and are alive.

Still an interesting theory, maybe there is a twist on it that removes the issues we have... Hmmmm...

    ReplyDelete
  72. Predictions for opening scene of Season 2: We see Dembe come back to retrieve a wounded Tom and pull him out to safety Or we see Red and Liz living the high life in the south of France laying low when someone from Red's past shows up (Gina? Tom? Mr. Kaplan) with some interesting news like "we found Berlin and you will never guess where he is and who he is with".

    ReplyDelete
  73. While I was hoping for way more answers, if they answered one big question, I think it would snowball and answer a lot more, which would leave to a not very exciting season 2. Anyways, I actually would like to see red as Liz's father because it would make the most sense as to why he does go to great lengths for her, in my opinion.

If her father was really dead, as red claimed, I don't see why he couldn't tell her, which therefore makes me believe even more that red is her father, and is trying to make her believe that her real father is gone, so she stops looking and asking questions.

I think either red is her real father, or his connection to her is that he saved her life by pulling her out of the fire and bringing her to Sam to raise. If the second is the case, I would then assume that Berlin was her dad, and maybe Berlin thought that red killed his daughter because she wasn't found after the fire. Technically Liz isn't really her real name because Sam and red used all of their criminal connections to help change who she was. Also that's part of the reason he took out some blacklisters because he didn't want them to say anything about who the real Liz is.

Okay that's my ramble, and overall, I hope that red is Liz's father because that makes a lot more sense to me than anything, but I don't think the blacklist has a simple answer. I hope they don't drag everything out in season 2. I hope they start to give more clear answers right away. I also think that Liz came back to red, because she knows she needs him for answers, and she cares more about him than she'd like to admit. I can almost see her not going back to the task force, but her and red go on a mission themselves to hunt Berlin.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Hey everyone, I don't want to get too into it because I'm still writing my review, but I wanted to throw this out there and see what you thought...Couldn't Berlin have just put Tom on Liz because he knew how close Red would get to her and he could easily find him when the time came? It's possible he could be the grandfather, but I think Red would have known that. What do you think? I should have my post ready by tomorrow morning.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Actually, there was a very fine point that came up last night.

Red would not hurt the dog. In the same way, he probably wouldn't kill a kid. He might even get burned saving a kid from a house he had torched trying to kill the kid's father.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Does it really look like "Berlin" tries to kill people. Everyone he has set his sights on is graveyard dead.

If Liz is alive, it might not be because of a failure.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'm not sold on it either like I said for the same reasons, but I like exploring different theories because you never know where they will lead and what insight can be gained.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Was Liz waiting to meet Tom when he got into her car? Did the gun go off by accident when they were pretending to struggle? She looked completely shocked. She sent Red away then, and said she'd "finish it". Did she really take him to that underground hospital?

  79. Lots of Red = great episode. I really liked this episode and I don´t mind that we didn´t get all the answers. It doesn´t bother me if Red is Liz´s father (or if he is not). It would make most sense if he was.

The question that bothers me most is why Liz is so importend. If it is because she is Berlins daughter, I think Red would know or at least suspect that. we know that Red was in the house that burned. Most likely he was the one who saved Liz. If he is NOT her father, why was he there and why was she importend enough that he would get burned so badly to save her?

Never had any interest in Meera, so it does not bother me that she died. I´m not sure now I feel about Tom showing up as a surprice in the middle of season 2. I hope they give him a very good storyline then.

Guess we all have different ways of thinking and reasoning. Personally, I tend to stick with what info I have been given when it comes to shows like this, because it is easy for me to over analyze. But it's kool to discuss it and see different sides.

  82. Agreed on the dog/ child killing. It's just not part of Red as I see him.

In one of the season's early episode polls a few of us discussed Red being close to Liz's mother or father. An affair with her mother could fit the information we have so far. Like you suggest a fight could lead to the fire, or Red's activities could have led to her disappearance/ death in any number of ways really.

If she were targeted for payback against Red he would feel responsible. That could lead to him wanting to take care of her child...

  84. The season didn't really end on a cliffhanger, but they certainly left enough questions "open" to make people tune back in, in the Fall :)

Even if I want to base theories only on what is given my mind tends to wander in more obscure directions with shows like this!

It is both fun and infuriating at times....

Like you said though, discussing random and sometimes crazy theories can be fun on its own accord. Even if I don't necessarily believe the theory put forward, thinking about it can lead to connections and insight I missed before.

It seems fairly obvious to me that - unless the writers
intentionally went of their way to mislead us, which I don’t think is the case –
Red is Keen’s biological father... Berlin would be her maternal grandfather.
Her mother would be killed by Berlin’s enemies and, after the fire, Red would
live the girl in Sam’s care to protect her. So the entire “I’m not your father”
and “Your father is dead” would be meant figuratively rather than literally. Does it mean Tom doesn't know who Keen's father is?

I think they were both surprised that she had it in her to
pull the trigger and potentially kill her “husband.”

  88. Kinda week for a 2 parter + Finale if you asked me but maybe thats because we knew hes her father from the start, i had expected more from this episode.

Red is her father. He rescued her from the fire and, in the end, has the burns to prove it. Pretty sure you can leave this alone.

  90. I think it was a great episode. And I knew the guy wasn't Berlin when Red found him because that would be way too cheap. I also don't believe that Tom is dead because 1. his body wasn't there when the other agents arrived and 2. despite him playing her Liz still has feelings for him they don't just go away because he betrayed her.

I also am not 100% sure if Red is really Liz father. But I do like the theory I read here in the comments that 'Berlin' is her grandfather and Red way married to his daughter/Liz mother since both have the same picture of the little girl from episode 4.

Really looking forward to Season 2 and I'm glad I gave the show another chance after not being hooked after watching some promos...that shows that sometimes the promos shouldn't stop me from at least watching one episode of a new show if the synopsis sounds promising.

  91. If Red was some John Public, sure. However, we are talking about a guy who could have been burned in a million different ways.

Not saying it's impossible. Just saying they are laying out one "no" for every "yes". If it's a lock, why dance around it?

  92. Im still not 100% sure if Red is her father... so many questions without answer, but anyway, it was an amazing episode.

  93. I thought these Berlin episodes were fantastic. I was highly entertained throughout, and wasn't at all disappointed. Sad that Meera died, but not too unexpected. Tom's obviously still alive, because it's like a rule in television, that if there's no body, there's a chance of life. I've always thought Reddington is Liz's real father, but has always been too afraid for her well-being to ever admit to it. The burn marks somewhat hint at it, but then again, maybe it's just a big misredirect. I'm interested to see how the show will be, now that there's one big bad in play. I'm already looking forward to next season.

  94. I was thinking the same thing actually, when that old man told that Berlin story. Red kept asking for the (Berlin) story, from the younger guy they thought was Berlin. But, even before that, we were told a story, a whole complete story, about Berlin. This show, through Red, does a lot of exposition to tell us about past events, and what led these characters to become who/what they are now. For this episode, the only story, complete with flashbacks, was about Berlin. I found that story quite riveting actually. I, too, am looking forward to how they reveal the pieces of this story. Very interesting!

  95. seriously it felt liek a pretty normal episode, not even Cooper died and iw as hooping that too happen, so finally Red got Scars from a fire and is ay he was the one that set the house to kill Liz's real father, Berlin cant be his father so i say Liz mother was Berlin's daugther?.. I am so confused RN

I hope Liz got Tom somewhere safe and he helps her to find Berlin or maybe join team Red...

    ReplyDelete
  96. can he be the one that set the fire up and somehow got sentimental and let the daugther live and he is the one that saved her and that's why he is so scarred?
Also can Berlin be her father, no right? saying teh story is true maybe her mother was Liz's?

If Red is not her father, and he turns out to indeed be alive, Liz could try to go find find him. Or she would start getting connected to events around him if she ever heard his name mentioned; or she would dig deeper and get involved with dangerous people and/or get other people to know who she is. I think it's certainly a valid point Red is making, at the very least, from his pov.

  98. The greatest weapon14 May 2014 at 04:49

At this point to me it feels like: so it's not that simply, so why is he connected to her? And we get little clues each episode.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Certainly possible....

There are a number of possibilities, but I just do not know yet if they are revealing parts of the real overall puzzle.or leading us down a path as a red herring.

I guess that;s what I like, there are no simple answers yet.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Maybe she just thought it was her father... his reaction to her telling Red that her father saved her from the fire was a little odd. So I guess they have allowed the story to go either way; Red being her father, or, he being the one who saved her (and maybe tried to kill her father). It explains how much he cares about her either way. Cant wait to see season 2.

  101. What a severely disappointing end to the season. Loved every ep of the season except for the finale. I was expecting so much more! There were some good bits, but as a whole, it didn't pack the punch I was hoping for.

  102. everyoneissleeping14 May 2014 at 21:08

How can Berlin be her father if his only daughter is supposed to be dead and he had her body sent to him in prison (years earlier) to prove it?... Unless you're opting for the entire story he told in the hospital being a lie.

    ReplyDelete
  103. everyoneissleeping14 May 2014 at 21:18

    I thought it was said
that the mother was targeted by Berlin's
enemies who chopped her body to pieces and delivered it piece by piece to
torment him. I've been thinking about something else... what if there is some
truth to the farmer's story (don't remember it well enough to be sure if that's
even an option), and that Red became a criminal only after the fire (hence his
talking about Keen's father dying in the fire)?

  104. everyoneissleeping14 May 2014 at 21:32

    The only person I
remember talking about Berlin's daughter was Berlin posing as a guard when he
was lying in the hospital... and he didn’t say his daughter died in the fire. I
went back and checked after reading your comment. All he said that she was
imprisoned (by Russians) and he helped her escape for which he was sent to
Siberia to rot with his enemies and kept praying that his daughter won’t be
found. And then he received her pocket watch with her picture inside it. Few
months after that his enemies started sending him his daughter’s body parts.

  105. I think there is a great deal of truth in Red's story.

I'm jsut not sure yet which event caused him to change his life so much. Was his family's assumed murder the catalyst, was Liz's fire the trigger point, or are they one and the same?

I can see a few ways that Berlin losing his daughter, Liz losing her father/ mother, and Red losing his family may not be the same single event many people think it is.

  106. so, what was it?

I still don't understand. Like every other episode, virtually no questions were answered and a billion more were raised. Once again, Red simultaneously won't say who Liz's real father is, yet never stops talking about it. So many think tonight's episode confirms that it's Red. I very much hope that he is, but don't see a hard confirmation. It's beyond blatant that they want us to believe it's him, but I'd bet that they'll likely reveal he was only there the night of the fire to help rescue Liz. Tom is still alive. I was hoping that in some way he would redeem himself even just a little, maybe tell her that at least his love for her was genuine. Nope, just a quick apology, a whisper, and see ya later. Why wasn't he arrested? Malik is dead. I had hoped that her character would be developed a lot more. Personally, I'm a bit disappointed with who they chose to portray the real Berlin. He's a great actor, but he's been typecast to death as the foreign bad guy. Was hoping that Cooper wouldn't survive. I like the actor but he's been typecast-zoned, too, and never seems to make much of a splash. Maybe that's why? A good episode, but I was hoping for a lot more. See you in the fall.
