  1. Wow. Looking forward to this. Red John still affecting Jane from beyond the grave

that looks good. i'm liking the direction of this season.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Oh, come on. Let that story die already.

    ReplyDelete
  4. WTF??? I did not expect something like that at all...can´t wait...

    ReplyDelete
  5. They do still have a few loose ends to tie up. You can't just murder someone and they go work for the FBI without there being some sort of investigation or trial.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Sure you can. This is a procedural cop show on CBS. Accuracy an believability are an afterthought.

    ReplyDelete
  7. How is this even possible when Jane made a deal with the FBI?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Well that's putting the writers in a bit of a catch-22. What are they supposed to do, people complain if the show's not realistic and then they complain when it is because its boring. Revisiting Red John could be a good thing, it will give Jane a chance to defend his actions.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Viewers will always find reasons to complain, no matter what. All you can do is what's best for the show and not beating the dead horse that is the painfully overwrought Red John story is certainly in the best interest of The Mentalist.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I agree the Red John story went on for far too long, but in the end they tried to rap it up in 8 episodes and then they had a 2 year time jump. We didn't get to see any of the fallout of Jane killing Red John: having one more episode that looks back over the central story of the series couldn't hurt.

    ReplyDelete
  11. When the show is on the bubble and they need to prove to the CBS brass that the show can creatively flourish without Red John, going back to it could not only hurt, it could be another nail in this show's coffin.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Lets be honest, they're screwed no matter what they do. It's probably going to be cancelled, at least they could give us a little closure before that happens.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I suppose if there are fans out there who want further closure, sure. I'd rather the show keep moving forward.

    ReplyDelete
  14. You can do both.

    ReplyDelete
  15. With what little time this show likely has left? Agree to disagree.

    ReplyDelete
  16. You could rap it up in one episode and still have time left over for a typical case-of-the-week side story. I don't want them to drone on about it, but a little something would be nice. The fans deserve it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. maybe someone higher upper the chain of command is a BLake association member? or something........Abbott should be responsible for this as he the one who offer Jane the deal

    ReplyDelete
  18. Wrap up a murder investigation / grand jury panel in one episode. They already did that once when Jane murdered the fake Red John and it was ridiculous. It's just not a good use of the time this show has left.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Wow, you just won't let me have the last word will you? It doesn't have to be a full investigation, they could just cut away to it throughout the episode and then have it finish with the verdict. If the writers want to show that they can move on after Red John and be creative, they first have to wrap up the Red John story.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It's just all weird because of the whole ordeal with Jane even coming back to the states as that was part of the deal. If Abbott becomes a baddie and makes this happen, then I could let that past.

Sounds like an awful lot for one episode. What disturbs me the most is that Jane could be in big trouble for killing Red John and all Lisbon thinks of is running off with Pike??? Doesn't sound like her at all -- has Pike definitely and permanently come between them? Oh yes and I guess there was mention of another side story going on at the same time. I hope the writers solution to ending this show isn't to end Jane and give Lisbon happiness with another man. Not my idea of an ending I want. Please, let us have a nice ending if this is the end of the show and if it is not the end, how would this scenerio work out?.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Jane has been back for months and now someone opens up a grand jury for him killing Red John. Pretty pathitic to me. First they have Abbott taking back the deal Jane made with him on a napkin, which from my understanding was legal if certain things were met which I believe they were. The only reason they are doing this is because of the possiblity that Lisbon will leave with Pike.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hmm so they still plan to write Lisbon as desperate? so Jane is probably happy for her and Pike if she has to try... What a b move by her to do the same time if he is getting charged, spells the end if she goes from I love Pike to wait I love someone else and Jane will go wtfk lol! The ending will be that or jts jisbon or Jane taking off. I pick the most predictable.

    ReplyDelete
  24. People always have to complain, no matter what, they feel they're better writers than the actual ones...

    ReplyDelete
  25. It's a procedural crime, everything can happen... And Lisbon isn't going anywhere with Pike, c'mon.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sometimes they are.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ugh I wish this Pike thing would end, I'm already bored with it. Either put Jane and Lisbon together or dont but please spare us this soap opera crap!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Wow that's going to be exciting.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I wish I had your confidence, everything to me points to Lisbon and Pike ending up together.

Yes it's a procedural, however you forget that Jane had a deal where charges would have been dropped against him, so if someone was going to see not drop the charges then they would have done it earlier. The only reason they are bringing this up now is so it will play a hand in Lisbon's decision to leave with Pike or not.

    ReplyDelete
  30. If Jane does run, then the possible relationship we would see unfold should there be a season seven would end up being that of Lisbon and Pike , since I find it unlikley that Lisbon would run away with Jane.

    ReplyDelete
  31. The chemestry between Jane and Lisbon has been going on for 6 seasons, why putting Pike all of sudden if not to make a step forward in their relationship? There's no sense why Lisbon should end up with Pike!

    ReplyDelete
  32. One reason to bring Pike in would be to show that Lisbon only cared for Jane because she felt that it was her job to since she was in charge of him. Lisbon has shown that she cared for her team, sure she wasn't obvious with it as she had been with Jane, but she still cared.

Another reason would be to show that Jane has waited to long to show that he has feelings for her. Remember Lisbon said she didn't want to keep her life on hold, and to me at least, until she met Pike she seemed to be doing just that. (Seeming to be the last to leave the office, turning down going out for drinks with Jane, Cho, and Rigsby.)

If Pike was to be a step forward in Jane and Lisbon's relationship, there probably a lot diffrent ways they could have done to make Jane and Lisbon take a step forward. Also if Pike is to be used for a step forward in their relationship, there would be no need to keep him for the rest of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  33. To be technical what Jane went through before with Timothy Carter/Fake Red John was an actual trial, not a Grand Jury. A Grand Jury decides whether or not there should be a trial, so unless there is a lot of things to be concidered, I believe it could be possible to get though it in one episode. That being said I don't think they are going to finish everything in one episode, only because I see it has playing a part in whatever Lisbon decides to do.

    ReplyDelete
  34. To me the death of Red John was closure enough, all this Grand Jury thing does is to give hope to those who didn't like that McAllister was Red John, that he really wasn't Red John.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I barley complain, and when and if I do, I never say that I think I'm a better writer then an actual one. Normally when I complain it's along the lines that if I were the writer I would have done this or I would have done that.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Abbott wasn't the one making or offering the deal. He was just sent ther to see if Jane would make it. Remember on the island Abbott said that he was just the middle man, that he felt that Jane didn't deserve a deal. Also remember Abbott ended up recinding the deal as invalid, and that Jane only got the deal he got because he faked a list of Blake Assosation members that may of may not have been caught.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Someone in the Blake Assosation probably did something, remember Jane made refrence to the fact that not every member of the Blake Assosation may have been caught when Abbott confronted him about the list, which was fake but Abbott and everyone except Lisbon thinks is real, he sent Abbott in Green Thumb which was suppose to have names of BA members blacked out and Jane said he wouldn't reveal those names until he was ready to leave the FBI.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The whole two year time jump was done in order to show changes in the charcters. Which is probably why Lisbon is considering leaving with Pike.

    ReplyDelete
  39. What would have there been to investigate though, it would have been obvious what happened at the churuch and where Jane killed RJ. Besides if your so worried about them having some sort of investigation or trial, then explain to me how Lisbon didn't get into trouble for giving Jane her weapon, or liying to Abbott about Jane contacting her via his letters?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Keeping Pike for the rest of the season it means that Lisbon has to choose between him, a guy who knows what he wants, a sure harbour, and Jane, her old-messy-former-consulent, whom she still cares about. She's waiting for Jane to make a move, until then, she found this guy who's truly interested in her. But this is only an input to make Jane wake up and realizes he loves her. I'm sure this will happen in the season finale, before Lisbon moving with Pike. If Jane waited so long he had reasons: Red John's hunt. He could have put her in danger if he was involved with her. When RJ died, he ran away from her because he needed to make up his mind, but meanwhile he wrote her letters, he wanted her to be there. They care about each other, but Lisbon wants Jane to show his love for her.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Of course Jane had reasons for waiting if he does have feelings for Lisbon, but those reasons ended the moment he killed Red John, and just because he had reasons doesn't mean that Lisbon accept that she has to wait for him to get over them.

But again just because Lisbon has shown that she cares for Jane doesn't mean that she wants to be in a romantic relationship with him. I mean just because Lisbon wants to know how Jane feels about the possiblity of her leaving doesn't have to do with any feelings between the two, which is how it sounds, I mean.Jane is the only person Lisbon has let get close to her and vice-versa, and not to mention that Jane had fought hard to get her hired, so she could easily be wondering if he will be ok if she left.

I may come off as I don't want Jane and Lisbon to be together, which isn't true, I'd like for them to get together. But I'm a realistic person, and realistically things to me don't point to Jane and Lisbon getting together.

Also to me they wouldn't really be calling Pike a person who is an important person in Lisbon's life, if Pike and Lisbon weren't going to end up together.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yah, I remember that, but because of that deal being made, I would always assume Abbott would protect Jane from dealing with his past with Red John's murder, unless Abbott decides to throw away the deal for some reason.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The deal though wasn't made with Abbott, it was made with someone higher up in the FBI, I believe the deputy director or someone up that high, so Abbott could try and do something but I think there is only very little he could do if he so chooses. I mean Abbott came off like Lisbon in the matter that he respects the law and wouldn't break it, so if the law said that Jane has to go infront of a grand jury then that's what will happen. Though that's just my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I know that convening a grand jury and a jury trial aren't the same thing but it's the same basic situation - Jane gaming the legal system to sidestep consequences. That's why I brought it up.

    ReplyDelete
  45. With Abbott being the middle man of the deal even, it would be more satisfying if it were Abbott that gets Jane in trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Its obvious to us what happened because we saw it. No one else was there, except that crazy knife-wielding woman and I don't think she'll testify. All the FBI found was a couple of dead bodies in a church. For the record, I loved that McAllister was Red John, I picked him when they first came out with the list of suspects. I don't want them to open up a whole new can of worms with this grand jury, I just want them to give Jane a chance to stand up and say what he did and why he did it and have people judge whether he was justified. It would be a good way to wrap up the Red John story, rather than sweeping it under the rug like its something that's shameful and must be forgotten and moved on from.

    ReplyDelete
  47. The FBI would have recreated the scene based on where Bertram and the Detective was standing when they were killed and probably guess on where Jane and McAllister had been, just like they would do with any other crime. With McAllister killed else were they would probably track where he may have went after he left the church to get where he was killed. Remember he had crashed throught the window of the house, I'm sure the woman would have come forward after it was revealed that McAllister was killed. The FBI would have had to investigate in order to have charged Jane with any crime to begin with.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Despite the amazing advances in crime scene investigations, I'm sure they would still like to actually question the people that were involved in the crime. Also, Jane couldn't have been charged with a crime until they caught up with him on his island, and even then they just kept him in detention for months without a trial. Some sort of trial or grand jury does seem warranted.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Since Jane has been with the FBI and hasn't seemed to have been questioned about killing McAllister, one would guess that they weren't planing on charging him with anything, so it would seem that Jane facing the Grand Jury would be because of someone's doing.

    ReplyDelete
  50. No matter who's doing it a trial needs to happen. I'm not an american so I don't know, but I'm pretty sure they have a law against vigilante justice.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Depends on if they can prove it was vigilante justice, A person has a right to defend himself, and since Red John had a gun on Jane then Jane shooting Red John could be considered Jane defending himself. The strangeling is another matter though if Jane can get everyone to believe that Red John was armed with a gun then he can probably try for self defense.

However the federal government is known for seeming to do whatever they want, so it would be possible for Jane to have not been charged with anything if the FBI wanted to. Which is why it would seem more likely that this Grand Jury thing is being done by someone else, especially since they are in a middle of a human sumggling case, that to me sounds like the BA could be in the middle of it.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Jane never got immunity for his deal with FBI and I think he won't be inducted for that Red John is a criminal and it should be considered justified homcide?

    ReplyDelete
  53. What's a BA? Do you mean DA.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Exactly. This is a story-line that should have been dealt with ages ago...like maybe in the first 5 seasons. I mean Jane & Lisbon have been partners for over a decade for crying out loud! I suspect Jane & Lisbon are not going to become a couple...just because of the sheer baggage over their decade long partnership (meaning Red John & the death of Jane's family).
Time does not heal all wounds after all & Red John is not a wound that has fully healed for Jane.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Alright I think I got this figured out: Despite the list Jane gave to Abbot (containing blacked out names of uncaptured members of The Blake Association) being fake there must be some members out there plotting revenge against Jane. Pike is their henchman. They know that the only thing Jane truly cares about to this date is Lisbon from Red John's info (yes the rest of the CBI gang are important but not as much as dear Lisbon!). Pike gets close to her and threatens to ruin her life along with Jane's (in the form of a trial). After a desperate struggle, Jane gets his freedom, confesses his true feelings to Lisbon (it's gonna be very hard Jane to move on from the past..which I'm sure he still hasn't done despite him supposedly moving on earlier...which is the only reason why he can't admit to himself his feelings for Lisbon) and they finally get together and continue to solve crimes someplace other than the FBI. End the show with Season 6 instead of dragging it out for another year.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Oh, the Red John case back in the series. I hate to see the episode 620.
Its feels the beginning and end of the trial in the Red John case.
Will be right all the answers questions about Red John ?

I feel the episode 620.621 and 622 be a timeline.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I've got an even better one. Pike is Blake Association and he's got someone else higher up to put on trial to get him out of the way so Pike can have Lisbon for himself. Hey! They said he was someone who goes after what he wants.

    ReplyDelete
  58. How crazy is this!! The FBI dropped the charges. Jane should be free and clear. He killed a man that had told Jane he would kill him. And he would have killed Jane if Jane hadn't been able to turn the tables on him. So it was Jane or Red John. Red John, the serial killer, lost. The justice system needs to let it go.
